Tip: Be mindful that the food can be a bit oily. Try the Golden Burrito and the chai tea. Also, the hot sauce is very spicy!

Wow. Words can’t describe the flavor of the quesadillas and burritos with the gold sauce. Very fresh and high quality ingredients. This concept will take over the Bay Area. Prices are fair and the food is unbelievable. The flavor pops and the service is very fast and friendly. Came from Arizona and will be back. Thanks guys.
Every bit as delicious as expected. The Afghan fusion with the burrito is wonderful. The meat and vegetarian choices are plentiful and the variety of options from burrito to quesadillas to tacos is comprehensive. The Karak tea is genuine Karak and best I have had in a while. One suggestion: a couple of dessert choices would go over very well…
Awesome food with unique flavors that are way beyond normal burrito fare. Super friendly people, lots of shaded outdoor seating, must try. Sorry no pics of food, devoured it, have a bit left over but not posting that 😋 Got the surf and turf golden burrito, loaded fries, and a steak bowl, all were great.
Absolutely delicious! Temple Afghan Burrito is a hidden gem. The fusion of Afghan flavors wrapped in a burrito is genius savory, aromatic, and satisfying. The lamb was tender, the chutney added a perfect kick, and the rice was fragrant and fluffy. Staff were friendly and the service was quick. Highly recommend for anyone craving something unique and flavorful!
Today I got food from them. The quantity of a lot for one person they have a good food I like it. I recommended to go again over there. These guys are killing it. The only thing I want to do them if it’s possible for you guys please use a charcoal smoke before you cook your meat on a grill. I feel like it will be give more flour in your burritos And your loaded fries. The loaded fries was good with the shrimp, but I think the forget to put steak on it sauce was amazing but the quantity was so less next time I will get the big bottle but overall the food was good. I highly recommend. And for the restaurant owner I wanna recommend one more thing to you toast your burrito unless it get Golden crossed and smoke flava on your meat dry these two things you’re quantity and qualities is good, but it will make you unbeatable in the food industry game I’m a professional chef that’s why I give you a little suggestion,
Edit: visited in person this time and got the vegan burrito bowl which was so fresh and flavorful! Portion sizes continue to be very filling. They also have plenty of outdoor dog-friendly seating. The vegetarian burrito was delicious and satisfying—highly recommend this spot for bold, flavorful burritos!
Great Mexican food 🌯 🌮 🥑 with a Mediterranean twist. Which is absolutely delicious 😋. Great friendly and fast service. Outdoor and indoor seating with great atmosphere. My only ding would be that for a restaurant and seating area this size, the only have one toilet stall shared for both men and women. It was clean but not sufficient. Hope management takes note and expand this area. Highly recommend it.
Afghan Burrito - A Must-Try in Berkeley! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing, flavorful, and better than Chipotle! I tried both the beef and chicken burritos, and they were incredible—authentic halal meat with perfectly seasoned, tender bites. The special sauce? Absolutely unique and elevates the whole meal! My partner and I were both blown away by the freshness and quality. Cozy spot, great service, and hands down the best burrito I’ve had in Berkeley. Highly recommend!
In brief: Great quality, unique menu, and you can taste the freshness! This place is tucked away, has a very cool vibe, staff is friendly. All around great atmosphere that fits with Berkeley and has a cool fusion menu that I've never really tasted anything else like. We sat outdoors, weather was great, music is there but not too loud. Food came out quickly, great service with a smile. Highly recommend it!
Delicious casual eatery with abundant covered outdoor seating, corn hole game for the kids (and big kids), clean restrooms, and a very pleasant atmosphere. Variety of generously portioned, well seasoned fusion Mexican- Afghan options: burritos, tacos, etc. I ordered a burrito bowl with the Afghan sauce and it was spectacular. 😁
Came here with a few friends this afternoon. We ordered a burrito, quesadilla, and nachos. We also ordered their new crunch wrap which was pretty amazing. The food overall was excellent, ingredients were fresh and full of flavor. The flavors are unique and something you have to just try to understand. You won't find another restaurant like this. They have great outdoor seating as well as a cozy covered area if you prefer. Staff was helpful and friendly. Food came out fast, and hot. This will become a new regular spot no doubt.
Whoa! Amazing eatery! It was raining, cold and late, & somehow we ended up at Afghan Burrito @ 9pm on a Wednesday night. Ordered the golden crunch wrap with grilled chicken, per friend's request, and sat inside their heated, tented room w basketball blaring on the TV. The crunch was delicious, the side sauce crazy garlicky, & the tamarind drink for real. Would absolutely go back!! ❤️
Okay, I didn't know what to expect but I was intrigued. This is the coolest idea: Afghan-style meat wrapped in a Mexican-style burrito blanket. It did not disappoint!! The flavor profile was so familiar and yet so unique with the yellow sauce... We all shared a combo Golden Burrito (chicken/steak) and a combo quesadilla and devoured it! Then the owner let us try a potential menu item and I hope it's a permanent fixture. My husband has visited Afghanistan and loved the familiar flavors. Plus the owner is incredibly nice. As an aside, this location is dope (even though it's temporary as I understand). It's a cool little outdoor situation. This is your sign. Visit Afghan Burrito!
I just had the Golden Burrito at Afghan Burrito and it was amazing! The food was super fresh, packed with flavor, and the portion was perfect. The customer service was really friendly — they made me feel welcome right away. The atmosphere is clean, relaxed, and just has a good vibe overall. Definitely coming back again!
So good! The Golden Burrito w/ Steak is bursting with rich flavors. And the quesadilla is filled up and full size. I haven’t seen big portions like these in ages, which I appreciate post- pandemic and inflation. There’s plenty of seating and good outdoor vibes, and they offer lots of smiles
Absolutely Delicious!!! The Golden Burrito with curry sauce is packed with complimentary flavors that leave your tastebuds wanting more! The freshness of ingredients and flavor combo is one of a kind! The staff (owners) are extremely compassionate and helpful in making suggestions, making you feel like your visiting family not at a restaurant ordering a meal. The atmosphere is friendly, beautiful and spacious! Definitely will be coming back if we’re back in the area, and highly recommend!
Freaking delicious. The karak tea is unique as very good. I got the steak and chicken golden burrito, afghan-style. Every bite was so tasty. My girlfriend and I agreed that if we had one of these restaurants near our home in SoCal we’d be in so much trouble. Also the calorie to dollar ratio is good. The eating spaces are very loud, and indoors was kinda dark and dreary.
My favorite Mexican spot in the Bay Area. Every time i visit, afghan burrito is a mandatory stop! The fries are my favorite, and make sure you get the pink sauce. Staff here are real cool also
We tried this place for the first time today after reading the reviews, and we loved the food. We ordered chicken tacos, chicken nachos, and a steak burrito. The food was very delicious and beautifully presented. I highly recommend this place and will definitely come back the next time I visit Berkeley.
This is one of the best burritos around. Large portions, great balance of ingredients, awesome flavor and the signature sauce ties it all together. All for a relatively affordable price too. Orders come with a couple sauces and a side of chips which is nice. They’ve got some outdoor seating and takeaway. This has got to be my go-to if I’m ever craving a burrito or something heavy.
Came to this spot last night to break our fast since we were in the area and had heard great things about it. The birria tacos were so delicious, the meat was high quality and very well priced. I also tried the burrito bowl, which came half golden rice, half lettuce, with chicken and topped with guacamole. The bowl was a bit on the blander side, although when I tasted some of the sauce (maybe the golden/sweet sauce?), it was good. I think next time I’d try something different. Otherwise, the service was great. My only small complaints are that the sauce containers are tiny and the side of chips is more of a sprinkle than an actual side, lol. That said, I really appreciated that they offer dates to break your fast and have tons of Palestinian art and messages throughout the restaurant, it was amazing and very supportive to see. They also use halal meat, and the quality is excellent. The bathrooms were impeccably clean, customer service was solid, and I loved that they carry Palestinian soda instead of Coke or Pepsi. Overall, a great experience and I’d definitely come back.
I tried the Afghan burrito today, and it was absolutely delicious! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned — every bite was full of amazing taste. I loved it so much that I’ll definitely come back to enjoy it again and again. The customer service was also excellent — very friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which made the experience even better. It’s a great option for family meals and events too. Highly recommended!
What a unique taco experience! It would be a great place with a larger group and there is total privacy which is fun. We went back and forth on which tacos to order and settled on these but for both of us it was totally about the Birria tacos. We didn’t finish the 5th one so they are filling.
Amazing atmosphere especially on a sunny warm day. The seats are spaced out well and you feel privacy. And the food is great of course + the service is amazing and the prices are extreeeemely reasonable for a place that feels so nice.
Best Loaded Fries I've had in a while. That should really be all there is to say. I got mine as a large with Shrimp and Steak. Both meats were flavorful and tender. Think twice about getting their hot sauce on it though, because it really is SPICY! Everything was still yummy though. They finished the order fast. It looked like a popular spot. I saw a few people sitting at the tables and also waiting for pick up. Everything outside looked clean and peaceful. Back to the fries. They had this curry type of sauce on them as well and it was the most delicious flavor ever! Their special sauces are what earn them a five. One is a creamy tomato and spice blend, while the other is a sweet chill sauce (the good kind/brand, not that diluted stuff some places give out). I appreciate the extra quality and the creativity of the primary sauce. It added to the experience. I definitely recommend coming here. It was genuinely the best 18 bucks spent (I couldn't resist adding on the guacamole topping). I will definitely be back in the near future for a burrito or crunchwrap!
I can't stop coming back to this place. Everything I've gotten was full of flavor and juicy. Omg and the chai tea! I'm addicted. It's so good! Definitely try them out.
Unfortunately I reviewed before and it didn't save. This is one of my top 3 spots in the bay (others are Gangnam Tofu and A+ Burger). I've been coming here since they were a wee test kitchen and they've grown so much. Look, Arab food and Mexican food go together and this place makes that abundantly clear. The golden sauce on all items infuses strong curry flavors and aromas into the high quality ingredients they serve. Plus, spice level is for you to decide: you can have mild (you shouldn't, you're depriving yourself of joy) or spicy which is a tolerable yet satisfying amount. Everything they sell is a banger. The meats are spiced middle-eastern style and go with everything. The burritos and bowls are classic items on their menu, and their new ones like the crunch wrap redefine their techniques. Corn in a cup? More like that's what's up. And don't even get me started on the creamy and sweet/spicy sauces they always give, a man can only get so weak 🥵 Finally, to really seal the deal on how great it feels to go here, the dang burrito wrap is gold colored. A golden burrito. You're eating golden burritos here.
Halal food menu. Burrito bowl delicious. Indoor seating to the right of restaurant. Outdoor seating to the left.
I came to Afghan Burrito and the food was so delicious! The burrito was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly made. The staff were friendly and the service was great. Definitely one of the best burritos I’ve had. Highly recommend!
I got the vegan Golden burrito here, it was very tasty and a huge portion! I wasn't blown away by the taste, but it was interesting to try since it was like a normal burrito (beans, rice, fajitas etc) but with their Golden sauce inside. The burrito comes with a few chips and sweet chili sauce on the side. The burrito leaked quite a bit near the end, so it's better to eat it over a plate with a fork ready. The menu has clearly labeled vegan options, which I really appreciate! The restaurant is part of a planned outdoor space (Cal Food Garden), so there is plenty of high-quality outdoor seating as well as bike parking.
Great walk up taco spot with a middle eastern flavor. Staff was very very friendly, food was a great unique take on Mexican food. Atmosphere was lovely but also had a few quiet places to sneak off to outside if you needed it. Think of it as a California taco spot but if it was located in the Middle East. I will def go back. Update August 13 The food called to me and I was compelled to return. I got a burrito and the friend chicken nachos. Omg so good. Staff is still awesome
Absolutely delicious - flavorful, large portions - I really really recommend this place. Also wonderful outdoor seating. You can tell they care about the quality of the food and the presentation. Really, really happy to support this business. Note- it’s more of a burrito/Mexican place with Afghan flavors I suppose? It’s not necessarily an Afghan food place with more traditional dishes. Also food does take a bit of time to prepare so heads up. But I absolutely recommend you go; get the golden burrito!
Afghan Burrito offers flavorful Afghan-inspired burritos with fresh ingredients and generous portions. The spiced fillings are delicious, and the casual, friendly atmosphere makes it a perfect spot for a quick, satisfying meal. Really good food and service 👌
Good fusion between Afghani masala and burrito wraps. Food tasted pretty good. There is also a mod to fry the wrap for a more crunchier texture. Self service and plenty of seating. Lots of parking nearby as well.

The golden butrrito is an edible culture jam that will push your understanding of what a burrito is or can be. Their syncretic blend of ingredients melds and transcends both mexican and middle-eastern cuisine. Don't forget their two impeccable sauces on the side. The outdoor seating in their food garden is pleasant as well.
Loveeee the vegan golden burrito! Always so good and the sauce makes it bomb. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. It was great to see them start using reusable cups for their provided water. Staff are always so friendly and helpful. Support your local Palestinian owned restaurant 🇵🇸❤️
Absolutely 💯 great to have given this place a shot. We happend to be in the sam fran area, and this was a unique expirence. First time we saw a combine of AfghanXmexican food. Everything from service, to pricing, to seating, to quality of the food was excellent. Nice options for sauce as well. Owner a very nice person, and staff is very nice as well. Must try!!! 10 stars if I could give.

I ordered the Golden grilled chicken burrito. Waited about 7-8 minutes and they served it with chips and sweet chili sauce and a creamy salsa. My burrito was massive (about 3lbs) and could have easily fed two people. I couldn’t finish it. I tried. But, I shouldn’t have eaten that much. The grilled chicken was delicious. The burrito was rolled up and then slightly seared on the plancha. Next time I would ask for less rice. Overall, good mix of protein, beans, pico, lettuce, in the burrito. Definitely a gut buster, so if you’re hungry, this place provides excellent value.
The locals have been raving about Afghan Burrito so I had to give it a try. I ordered the Golden Chicken Burrito with all the toppings. The flavor was definitely unique but something about it was amiss. It was sweet in an unfamiliar way. Additionally it comes with sweet thai chili sauce which I didn’t really use. The spicy crème salsa was okay but didn’t add much flavor to the burrito. I understand it’s a fusion spot but perhaps I didn’t care for this particular flavor combination. Regardless it was still good just not as mind-blown as people were hyping it up to me. The service was superb. I ordered for pick up through doordash and arrived a little early. The employee asked me to wait in my car and brought my order out to me when it was ready. The atmosphere was nice. I noticed some outdoor seating for people to hangout and eat their food. Overall I recommend giving it a shot, you might really love it!
What an incredible discovery we made while in Berkeley! First off, we were absolutely delighted by the setup. You won’t find such a clean, organized, and thoughtfully designed space in any restaurant. The open patio seating features seven pergolas, along with additional indoor seating in a temporary glass enclosure filled with tables. The main area is where orders are taken and food is prepared. Even the restrooms are well-designed and photo-worthy! When a place puts so much thought into its setup, you expect the food to be just as good. We noticed rave reviews about the golden sauce, so we had to try it. We ordered a burrito bowl with golden rice and additional toppings, but I was disappointed that guacamole was added without my request. It costs $2 and should be added only upon request. I wanted to taste the bowl with the original golden sauce, but the excessive guacamole overshadowed it, which was frustrating. We also tried both soft and hard tacos with grilled chicken, fried chicken, and shrimp, all of which were tasty. The horchata was good as well. I wanted to give a five-star rating, but the guacamole issue cost it a point. I didn’t quite feel the hype surrounding the food; it seemed overhyped based on the reviews. However, the food is definitely worth trying. Just don’t expect anything out of this world - it's good fusion cuisine with meat prepared in Afghan style. They also serve Karak Chai. I will definitely return and recommend it to friends. People from India might appreciate the Dhaba-style vibes of the setup. Keep up the great atmosphere!
Parking: only street parking available. Setup: There are outside and inside seats. The place looks very clean and organized. Food: 1st time here. Ordered Golden Burrito with chicken in Afghan style. The cashier was nice. He explained and confirmed with me if I know what Afghan style is. (I had no clue but did try it) Afghan style basically is a fried naan or tortilla (not sure what it calls) on bottom and put everything on top, not rolled like a regular burrito. Veggies are fresh covering the chicken and rice. Yellow sauce is very tasty. The portion is good size with some chips on the side. Price: reasonable/average.
Mexican restaurant with Afghan infused flavors. No Jalapeno, taco spice and tarjins; instead yogurt buttery sauces, curry flavor etc. It's delicious with generous portions and value. Food a bit oily and heavy in nature so be mindful 😉. Veggie options available. Location was really clean with indoor and outdoor seating. Big screen inside for events. Outdoor has gazebo like seating. Great for groups, kids, meetups, gathering. It's flat wide entry and accessible.

Definitely some loaded nachos to say the least! I found it a little too saucy, making all the chips soft with no crunch left. Decent flavor, but hard to distinguish the flavor of any specific thing that was in there. wanted more freshness! Super nice staff and awesome atmosphere. Might try ordering something else next time
Afghan Burrito in Berkeley has a surprising 4.8-star rating, but the food doesn’t quite live up to the hype. The shrimp burrito was fine—warm, mildly seasoned, but nothing memorable. The Afghan-style bread is a nice touch, though not especially flavorful. The setting is bare and loud, with San Pablo Avenue traffic just outside. At this price point, Gordo Taqueria or even Chipotle offer a better meal.
