What a hidden gem!!!!!! My husband and I stopped on our way from the lake. We were craving steaks and could not believe this place existed in the tiny town of Bertram. The moment you walk in you’re greeted with friendly smiles and service. The decor great. Now the steaks, were AWESOME!!! I had the Picanha which melted in my mouth. I was impressed from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. Our server James was spectacular! Our only regret is we didn’t find this place sooner!!! Kudos Standard on Vaughn and congratulations on celebrating two years and look forward to stopping in many more!

The Thanksgiving menu was excellent. We really enjoyed celebrating with you. The turkey was juicy and tender and the prime rib was excellent! We had some amazing cocktails and everyone was very attentive and friendly. It was a great experience. Thank you!

One of the best steaks I have had in recent memory. The service was very good with the exception that there did not appear to be a system to let the servers know who ordered what at the table. Not a big deal but it did distract from an otherwise great dining experience. I highly recommend their Fire & Smoke cocktail - very yummy! The Standard on Vaughn is one of the best restaurants in the highland lakes area and we will be back!

First time here and it did NOT disappoint! Everything was great from the decor, the service and of course, the food! I definitely recommend the ribeye burger for brunch with Jackie - 10/10!

We stopped at this restaurant on the way back from Burnet. It ended up being fabulous date night, great service great food! We will be making it a point to come back up this way just to eat there!

Awesome gem in a small town. Cool atmosphere in an old building downtown Bertram. Friendly staff and great service. Good selection of specialty cocktails. The braised beef short rib can feed 2 people. Fork tender with very creamy whipped potatoes. The double cut pork chop is so tender and better than flemmings. The sweet potato puree is silky smooth and pairs so well with the pork chop, totally delicious. The duck breast was a perfect medium rare, tender, and the fat perfectly rendered. Add the side of mushrooms to all the dishes, and it was a fantastic experience for all of us. We want to go back and try other items on the menu 😋 Highly recommend the Standard on Vaughan.

On our first visit to The Standard we were impressed with the service and the food & drinks. We’ll hope to return. A step up find in Bertram. We arrived close to 5 on a Thursday and found plenty of available tables though the place rapidly began to fill up and they asked if we had a reservation upon arrival. Our server was friendly and attentive. We were seated at a high top table in the bar and were also greeted by a man in a jaunty hat. (owner? manager?) In any case, nice. Perhaps because we were there the day after Valentine’s Day, the tables all had flowers on them. And the cocktail we got had some pretty adornment. (see photo) We started with a small wedge salad and it was actually plenty for the two of us. For mains we had the Airline Chicken and the Salmon. Both were good. The chicken didn’t seem to be quite as generous a portion as the salmon. The sides with each were also tasty. Both cooked appropriately.

It felt like a pleasure to be here as soon as we walked in the door. We met friends at the bar and the bar staff was hard at work, charming, and enthusiastic about their craft! The cocktails were extremely well balanced and gorgeous. Thank you Carly for personalizing some drink recommendations that were spot on! We had a drink and then sat down for Thursday night dinner. Service had slight hiccups due to a new ordering system but they weren’t taking themselves too seriously (in a good way) and we had fun with it. Several staff members stopped by to chat with our table. The atmosphere was very welcoming and you could easily feel like this was “your place.” The food was delicious. I only gave 4 stars because I think the sides could use some jazzing up. We loved the bruschetta with burrata (and liked the twist that the blistered tomatoes were warm!). The deviled eggs were scrumptious. My friends LOVED their salads and the entrees were near perfect in taste and in presentation (see photos for epic level saucing of the plates). I put 4 stars but I wanted to make that 4.5. We got whipped potatoes and brussel sprouts and felt that both could use a bit more pizzaz when compared with everything else. The Standard on Vaughn sets a very high standard indeed! We will definitely be back!

My husband and I made reservations for our anniversary last night. Absolutely loved the good, service, ambiance, everything. From the hostess to our server we received service with a smile. We did mention it was our anniversary when we booked and when we got there they had given us a sweet note wishing us a happy anniversary with a sweet surprise. We will definitely be back! To Emily and the whole crew! Thank you so much for giving my hubby and me a place to eat on Thanksgiving! We found ourselves without family this year but are tickled pink to have eaten such good food, been waited on so graciously and had a really good time! The staff was amazing as always! We love this place so much!

The Standard is anything but standard for that part of Texas. It's a unique and very upscale standout from the rest of the choices in and around Bertram. Dishes are prepared with excellence and the selections are quite brilliant. Cocktails are crafted expertly. Their old fashioned is excellent. The restaurant is small but not cozy or "cute". Rather, it has a bold and rich ambiance that enhances the experience. It does get a bit loud when it is crowded thanks to the old school metal ceiling. A minute distraction against all the pluses it had going for it. The filet mignon was extraordinary. We could cut it with a fork. The blueberry salad was refreshing and unique. Sides were great as well. It was one win after another.

The atmosphere was very nice and modern with comfortable seating and lighting. We had a variety of brunch items. The burger, which was very well made and enough to take home half. French toast for the kids, which they ate all of. Biscuits and sausage gravy, and the sausage was fantastic. Id probably order an extra side of just that. And oatmeal, which was a little dry but its oatmeal. Well probably go back the next time we are driving thru town.

Fun place to have a festive drink and appetizer. I stopped by after visiting around the town that my Mama lived in when she was a young lady. I was made to feel welcome and enjoyed my cocktail and appetizer. I look forward to visiting again. Thank you for having me yall. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I regard to standard as the best restaurant in the entire region. Even in Austin, especially for the ambiance. The food is excellent, and the staff are attentive and homely. Classy. elegant. An amazing gem hidden in this once drive-through town.

Very much enjoyed our Saturday brunch here. Food was delicious, we enjoyed steak and eggs, a farmer's breakfast, and the gravy on their biscuits and gravy was spot on. The level of customer service my family received was above and beyond. Will definitely be back and highly recommend.

There was a pre-set Father's Day menu. Bisque was very good. Chicken and waffles were slightly overcooked and dry. Syrup was plain; I'd expect something fancier for the price. Potatoes and chicken were flavored well, but seriously lacking salt. Steak was delicious. We got there before noon, and yet they were out of 2 of the desserts we wanted, and there was hardly anyone there. Waitress wasn't very personable. They had great music playing. Overall experience was good, but $55 for breakfast food is high. I don't mind spending high dollar on food if it's worth the price. I would like to go back and try their dinner menu.

This place is such an unexpected gem in Bertram! We went for our anniversary, and were delightfully surprised with the personal touch of an anniversary card and complimentary dessert. Loved the ambience and decor. It was a little loud as others have said, but not terrible. Excellent cocktails and offered my top shelf spirits! Steak was tender and delicious even though it was slightly over cooked from what I ordered, med. I was really looking forward to the patatoes daphinoise, but they were undercooked and inedible. The carrots were slightly too aldente as well, but tasty. Service was ok, but very slow when tables filled up. Overall, at this price point, I would have expected the food to come out perfectly. I'm not sure we'll return, but it was a lovely, special occasion experience. Maybe it was an off night for the kitchen....

This is a very beautiful restaurant that was a fun find when camping at the River Ranch County Park. We hadn’t intended to have such a fancy meal during our camping trip but we saw the restaurant and had to try it :) The decor is really beautiful inside and the service is great. The only reason I have a 4 star instead of 5 is that the room is exceptionally loud and it is hard to hear anyone at the table which detracted from the otherwise very intimate atmosphere. I think if they added some decorative rugs or runners it would be perfect. The drinks were excellent - we hadn’t intended an old fashioned and a sparkling wine. The food was very good. We had the Airline Chicken and the Prime Rob. We enjoyed the stuffing that came with the airline chicken the most, it was exceptional. The meats were both very good. I thought the sides we got - mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts - were also good.

Second time I have been here and consistently good food in a nice restaurant. I do recommend making reservations and they seem to fill up quickly. They have a bar area and a dining room. We were seated in the dining area which is very comfortable and pretty well lit. We arrived around 5:30 but they turn down the lights at a certain point and it's a bit darker than I would prefer. They have a large drink selection and some craft drinks. I like Old Fashioned drinks but you need a quality bourbon; they use Four Roses and they make an amazing Old Fashioned so I would assume the rest of their drinks are good. They have a good list of appetizers; we have tried the deviled eggs and those are very good. This visit we tried the Spinach Artichoke Dip and the Bruschetta. Warning: the Spinach Artichoke Dip is big enough for four people. Our server told us we would likely take some of it home which in fact we did do. However, for both the dip and bruschetta, the pita chips and bread were very stale/old. We even asked for some fresher bread for the bruschetta and our server only brought out more of the same. It's amazing that such a nice restaurant would serve stale/old bread and pita chips. And the pita chips weren't crispy as would have been preferred with the dip. The bread that came with the bruschetta was stale. So unfortunate because the sides themselves were quite good. For a starter, we had a wedge salad; like the starters, this is quite big. It comes with plenty of blue cheese dressing and it was very good. For our entrees, we both ordered the Filet Mignon medium rare. This is my second time dining here and my second time having the Filet Mignon medium rare. It isn't. What I was served both times is medium... borderline medium well. I didn't say anything the first time I ate here but this most recent was with someone different and the first thing they said when cutting into the steak is "this isn't medium rare". There is absolutely no pink center so whatever you normally order, go one less. It would be interesting to see how the steak would come out if ordered rare instead of medium rare. It's unfortunate because the beef seems to be quality meat. For sides, we had the marinated and grilled mushrooms and asparagus. The mushrooms were a big disappointment. They didn't taste like fresh mushrooms but rather something out of a can. But they came marinated in a dark gravy type of sauce. I have never had mushrooms served any other way than marinated in garlic butter with possibly a bit of white wine. But these small pieces of mushrooms instead of fresh cremini mushrooms either sauteed whole or sliced in half. The grilled asparagus was excellent. They have a decent dessert menu and we had the 3-layer chocolate cake which was more than enough for two people. Really nice restaurant but disappointing with some of the ingredients such as the bread and pita chips not being fresh, over cooked steaks (twice) and a dark gravy used for "marinated" mushrooms. But, I do still recommend this restaurant. It is quite a nice restaurant but you can come fairly casual.
