Food is really good and the servers are super friendly and helpful. If you sit at the bar, you can even chat with the bartender, which makes the whole experience more fun. I also love that someone helps grill the skewers for you. Even though it’s a BBQ place, the cocktails are surprisingly great. It’s such a comfortable spot to hang out with friends, have some drinks, and just enjoy the night. Definitely a place I would bring my friends to.

Fun place to grab a snack and enjoy some self grilling.. We arrive after 10pm after a show and waited about 15 minutes. It gets busy during the late hours. All the staffs are friendly and helpful to make sure you know how to cook your food. The skewers are nicely flavored. With Membership it will bring each skewer at $1.. Recommended to try at least once…

Yum. Yum. YUMMMM. SO AFFORDABLE. SO DELICIOUS. Less than $2/skewer The staff are really fun and know their audience. Food has a great variety and it’s such a fun activity. If you go on your birthday you’ll probably get a free drink. Actually the drinks get CHEAPER as the night goes on… which sounds like a recipe for trouble, but they really have it figured out. The bathroom is equipped with sealable bags for any turning tummy’s from too many soju bombs, and the staff keep it SPARKLING clean in there. The wait can be long depend on the day and time, but there’s a bar across the street that’s nice to wait at while you’re on the waitlist.

Street food style with cozy and casual vibe. Amazing place to hangout with friends. You cook your food and drink beer and talk until late into the second day. It closes at 3:00 am!!!! The barbecue is also very tasty. Just perfect place to hangout and have casual dining.

A really fun BBQ spot where you grill the food yourself. You grab your own skewers from the self-serve area and cook them at the table, which makes the whole experience interactive and entertaining. The vibe gets pretty lively at night, so it’s a great place to come with a group of friends. Definitely a good spot for gatherings if you want good food and a fun atmosphere.

Loved it! The skewers were great, it was very convenient to just grab what I wanted from the fridges and cook it right away. My only complaint is that the seats are very low, like a foot off the ground, so while comfortable, getting up and sitting down could be difficult for some people (not a big deal since you'll get up a couple times, but worth noting to those w weak thighs and knees!).

Amazing spot for quick bites. The skewers were delicious and there was no line since we came right when it opened. We loved every bite. Perfect place to go before a night out.

Authentic cook yourself Chinese skewers in the heart of midtown! They have a nice variety of meat and veggies for your to grill and the spicy seasoning you dip the cooked food in is amazing! Def a great place for dinner and drinks

Super fun place to eat a lot of skewers with your friends. You just go up to the fridges and grab as many skewers as you want. And then you grill it at your table. You pay per skewer sticks that are finished at your table. They have an app for drinks. The whole thing is so streamlined that it makes eating and drinking easy! Some of the skewers do seem like it's not worth it though value wise... I'm looking at you shrimp skewers....

I had a good time here at Chubby Skewer. The seasonings were very tasty, and so were the meats and veggies themselves! I’m glad I tried this place out, especially as I was intimidated by the popularity online. Worth the trip, especially for the $1 a skewer price! Likewise, our server Ye was helpful and attentive with helping me out.

This place was absolutely amazing from start to finish. Dining on the low stools was such a unique and fun experience—it really made the meal feel special and different from any other skewer place I’ve been to. The food was outstanding. Every skewer was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and incredibly flavorful. There was surprisingly no smoke at all, so you could fully enjoy the meal. And on top of all that, the staff were unbelievably friendly and attentive. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for great food, a fun setup, and excellent service. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Amazing skewer place with genuine, almost authentic atmosphere. The place was well decorated, although the tables were really low (which displeased my taller friends) but I felt it added to the restaurant’s charm. Food is affordable, at $1.30 per skewer ($1 for membership price). My table actually applied for the $58/year membership, which took off $56 off our bill so we only paid $2 extra for membership on top of original bill. The waiter was extremely generous and gifted my friend and I an extra drink because membership holder got a drink on the membership. Would definitely come again! In fact, we are already planning to bring our club members to check it out! Enjoyed the experience even more because my friend cooked all the food, so recommend you bring your chef friends 😋

Tried out this spot and it’s a fun place to hang out with friends! They have tons of selections — fresh meats, veggies, — and everything grills nicely on the rotating skewer setup. Super easy, super tasty. Only small downside: the chairs are a bit low, so just be mindful if you’re wearing pants or skirts. Otherwise, great vibe, great food, and definitely a solid group hangout place.

Chubby Skewers is hands down one of the best spots if you’re craving flavorful, perfectly grilled skewers. You can find a DIY experience with dollar skewers (member price) including wagyu, seafood, meats, and veggies. What really stands out is the balance of flavor without being too greasy or heavy. Portions are generous for the price, and the dipping sauces elevate the whole experience. The atmosphere is casual, fun and clean making it perfect for both a quick bite and a laid-back hangout with friends. Service is friendly and fast with amazing smiles. Fire up the grill and start cooking quality skewers without breaking the bank.

Great food. Love that we are bbqing skewers and not deep frying them . Meat quality is good. Price is reasonable. Fave is the chicken cartilage. Only down side is the seats are very low. Not great for taller people. But I get it. It's like that in China.

Pretty chill laid back place. Not advertised as a bar but the drinks by Eastom are phenomenal! The drinks felt so strong without overwhelming in taste, his bartending experience is impeccable. The skewers are easy to navigate and really tasty! 30-50 for two people, so it’ll add up. But the vibe and ambience was enough to hold great conversations with staff (if you so choose) and your folks. Will come again with my girlies to spend time around the service and drinks, looking forward to this experience again!

Super delicious place and absolutely great value for money!!! SO SO GOOD! 1000% returning. It's also such a fun experience with friends. You get to cook your own meat and of course the waiters are happy to help and our great at being diligent and refilling your water as needed. 100% will bring people I know!

This is an awesome spot to get skewers after a night out with friends. The atmosphere here is chill and the food is great. I came around 1am and was seated quickly. I loved the cumin and other spices at the table to season your skewers. There is a wide selection of skewers near the entrance and I love the buffet style of getting your own food. Overall this is a great spot to hangout with friends and enjoy well priced skewers.

Chubby Skewers was both our first and last meal in New York and it couldn’t have been better. We found it late at night after a long day of traveling, and it was such a relief to find a place open with great vibes. The atmosphere is fun and totally different from anything we have back home. The food was amazing. I especially loved the scallop skewers, the wagyu beef, and pretty much all the seafood. The scallop on the shell appetizer was a standout. Big thanks to the staff, especially Ming, who was super friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to come back next time I’m in the city!

I don’t know if you can tell from the picture how low we were sitting, but it was extremely uncomfortable to eat in that position. Everyone also kept tripping over the gas line on the ground near our table too. Seems like safety concerns. Other than the seating issue I quite enjoyed the food. The meat was good quality. Even when we overcooked some of the meat it was still good. There are a lot of different options for meats and veggies. The cold noodles we got were very good.

I had a mixed experience at this restaurant. The food itself was quite good, a solid 8/10. All the ingredients were fresh, and I really enjoyed the fun of grilling everything myself at our table. However, there were a couple of downsides. We had a pretty long wait for a table in the evening. Also, a note for taller people: the tables and chairs are very low. As someone who is 6'1", I found it quite uncomfortable to sit for a long meal. But the real reason for this negative review is something I witnessed that was both shocking and horrifying. I saw a server vaping in the restroom, who then left and returned to the floor without washing their hands. Seeing such a complete disregard for basic hygiene from someone handling food is unacceptable and frankly, disgusting. No matter how good the food was, I can't overlook a serious health concern like that. I will not be returning.

A Chinese skewer restaurant with good street food concept but slightly disappointing food. I’d recommend it for fun group outing because it’s very interactive since you roast the skewers yourself, don’t expect authentic flavors. I loved the format of the low chair seating that’s meant to simulate street food. That said, if you are bigger or have mobility issues, it may not be comfortable for you. The issue with the skewers and food there in general was that it was on the sweeter side. Authentic Chinese skewers should be mostly salty and cumin flavored - not sweet like Korean bbq. If you enjoy sweet meats, great; if not, you may find the marinate of the meats a bit too sickly sweet. Another issue was the lack of good vegetable/vegetarian options. I’m a meat eater but I like to roast veggies - this restaurant was missing key Chinese vegetarian skewer item: no chives, no gluten, no eggplant. Lastly, it was a bit difficult to talk with people at my table due to the chimney set up. So it may not be a place of you want to have actual conversations. Hope this is helpful!

I am a huge fan of Chinese skewers and so, when I heard that a new spot opened in Manhattan, I had to try it. This Chinese skewers spot is bright, casual, and super fun to go with friends. The seats are surprisingly low to the ground, so note if you have mobility issues. Otherwise, it's a comfortable spot and good for a late night vibe. The premise here is that any skewer is $1.25. While it sounds like a good deal, it honestly adds up pretty fast and the portions are as big as the ones that I've seen at other skewer spots (such as those in Flushing). The quality isn't bad but nothing crazy. I did really like their appetizers and additional plates that you could call though, such as their cold noodles, fried pork, or fried buns with condensed milk. Overall, it was good but I think if I really wanted skewers, I would go to Flushing for more affordable prices and better portions.

The service here was almost non-existent. It was our first time and no one gave us any instructions when we sat down. We figured everything out ourselves, poured our own water, ordered our own food on iPad, but still had to pay tips in the end. Tipping culture in US at its finest. The dishes and drinks you can order all run on the expensive side ($8 for a cup of juice. Really????). They knew you would want to drink something while eating the skewers, so they really took your advantage on that. The cooked dishes were also underwhelming. The seats are also very uncomfortable as they are all very low for some reason. After sitting for a while, your legs would be numb, unless you have height of a kid. The only good thing here are the skewers. The choices are wide. But the tastes do get monotonous as you use the same sauces on all of them, which are marinated the same way as well.

The grills go pretty slowly, so if you have a big group, you should ask for multiple grills. The side carbs orders are honestly pretty good: cold noodles & wagyu fried rice. The razor clams with vermicelli was good too. It’s a good social activity, the seats are very low to the ground (which is the traditional way of this) but could be uncomfortable for some. go for the vibe!

Average food, fun experience, but probably wouldn’t go back. Do it once to experience it though! It’s a fun time. Space: It’s a big restaurant, but they jam the tables and chairs so close together it’s hard to move through it. We sat upstairs at a 4-person table with 2 people- it was so tight. The tables and chairs are kindergarten height so even as two short 5-foot gals we were barely a foot off the ground, it’s so low. With the tables equipped with the grills there’s nearly no space to put stuff. With 3 apps and a skewer tray each, we maxed out our table space. The tables/chairs are back to back with other table/chairs too. If it were a packed house we’d be at fire code and likely have tripping hazards guaranteed. It looked more spacious downstairs. Food: Average. Tempting to take many skewers at $1.30/piece but they add up fast! There is barely any meat on each skewer and many of the skewers themselves were sticky when I picked them up. Questionable dishwashing between uses. The kitchen-cooked dishes were okay. Nothing special and not the cheapest either. Best part about the food were actually the drinks! They were super delicious. Service: This was the best part. Plenty of staff to help and bring things around, explain how to cook certain things. The signage isn’t great so the staff were friendly and helpful. The downside is much of this restaurant’s experience is self-service cooking so the staff don’t actually do much besides clean up the plates and bring drinks + pre-cooked foods. Even refilling water is help yourself. Cool concept restaurant but if I wanted to pay the same price for a good meal I’d probably just check out other a la carte BBQ places nearby. This one took a lot of energy to figure out and the quality didn’t live up to expectations.

As someone that LOVES skewers, this place misses the mark. We came here on a Friday night around 11PM for some late night eats. Staff was friendly and told us how it worked. It's $1.30 a skewer, we pick our own at the front and cook on our own little grill. I liked the concept and thought it was a pretty solid deal until I saw how tiny the skewers were. I'm not sure they should've named this place Chubby Skewers because seriously.... by the time the meat cooked, there was barely anything on the stick. Some of the "wagyu" was just chunks of fat. It's a large space inside and the seats/tables are super low, basically how it is in China, so they got that down. I would not come back though. They also want you to tip, which was a bit annoying since we literally do everything on our own. At the price, I would rather pay a bit extra and just go to one of the carts in Chinatown for better quality.

This was a one-star experience at best. I have no idea where your staff’s professionalism is. No spoon was provided with the fried rice, and the dishes were brought to our table in an extremely rude manner — essentially slammed down in front of us. The food was just as disappointing. The stir-fried potato sticks were aggressively sour, tasting entirely of vinegar with zero spiciness. The crispy sweet and sour pork was no better — aside from the batter, everything else was also sour. The “chilled bayberries” were simply bayberries soaked in water. The skewers were the only items that were remotely acceptable, and even then, they were far better than the stir-fried dishes. Overall, the service was unprofessional and the food quality was extremely inconsistent. I would not return.
