Sitting by the fire pits, with a cold or hot drink, some good comfort food watching planes come and go, MAN!!! Its the best! I just wish they would stay open a bit later. They have a full bar, multiple tvs, nice seating. Please check it out. But don't tell too many people! Its my secret spot ☺️
Enjoy the food as well as the history of the Tuskegee Airmen. The Red Tails replica airplane are located at the entrance or watch the airplane land at LAX when seated inside or patio area. Restaurant and ballrooms are great for private party's. Your choice of local restaurants with a condensed menu. Just want to kick back and watch a game on one of strategic located TV's? This is available also. If you enjoy fresh air, the patio is great. Fireplace are located also in the patio area. Kids can play outside as well.
The Proud Bird Food Bazaar is an exceptional experience for anyone interested in the United States history, specifically all the aircrafts with Guinness book of world records. Plenty of parking spaces, great food, cafeteria style and some made to order... Great experience!!!
The proudbird is an interesting mix of museum, food court, and bar all thrust together with a view of LAX. It may sound odd, but it works! The museum portion is small and in a way could be considered the design of theme of the food court. Even still, it's a solid group of collections ranging from news clippings to scale models. It's focused on the Tuskegee Airmen, which is wonderful. The food court has everything from Chinese to Pizza to burgers. The food is good, and cooked fresh to order. Lines can get long, but you can also order from the bartender. The bar is nice, with great bartenders. They have some fun and tasty custom drinks. There are tables in the space, so you don't just have to sit at the bar. The dining area is large and clean, with condiments are self serve. There are conference rooms that can be rented for events. Last but not least, there is an outdoor area that has a kids play structure and several full scale airplane replicas. These included a P-38, Bell X-1, and more. Add to that the view of landing and departing planes from LAX, and you've got a great place for all ages to come enjoy. Oh, and if your flight gets cancelled or delayed, they offer a free shooter!
I had a dope time with my buds for dinner here. You will get a three course meal that well be enough to last you for leftovers the next day. Appetizer (dinner sized Poke bowl), Entree and dessert. Great vibes and cool atmosphere as you watch the planes fly over. There is a very nice area that pays homage to the Tuskegee Airmen. Firepits outside on back patio, front patio has with sand and anrondack chairs with corn hole games (aka bean bag for us city folk) . You won't be disappointed.
Food was great, but a bit on the pricy end, to be expected for the location though, the service was great and food came out super fast, this is a great place to watch planes landing and planespot
This place is food for the history majors soul! So much to look at and experience. Life size planes with their history. Exhibit on the Tuskegee Airmen. You get to hear and feel planes taking off and landing at LAX . We went mid-day and it was empty. Burgers were good but took forever. Workers were meh. Give this place a try for the experience alone.
Amazing place to eat and watch aircraft, especially from the outside area! Food was good and came pretty quickly. The location is right at the start of runway 25L so there was plenty of traffic going in and out. Very well done with aircraft in the yard all around and accompanying information.
First time here at the proud bird. We came for happy hour and had some food. He beef brisket was amazing so tender it fell apart before I could get it on the fork. Cool place for a drink if you are in the LA area and even need to kill a few hours. Must check it out. We live close and will definitely be back soon we had a good time!
2022 update - Happy hour 4-7pm. Prices has gone up a little on everything, but still generally cheaper than most places in the area. Drinks are still just okay, I wouldn't consider them that great of a deal even on happy hour anymore. Severely under staffed, the place seems more busy post-covid. Bludsos is a hit or miss. Favorite things here are the tater tots and burgers. Original - Food was good. Heard great things about Bludso's but never got to try it until I came here, and must say, it is truly one of the best BBQs in SoCal. The ribs had really good smokiness, their BBQ sauce is really good. Drinks here are okay, nothing spectacular, but fairly priced. They have happy hour until 8pm. Plenty of parking, not crowded, maybe not a date spot, but great place to chill and bring family.
I had been wanting to visit for a long time and finally got to do it. Fell in love with the place right away. As an aviation fan and lover, it is always magical to find places such as this. I brought my camera and was able to take a couple of great pictures and videos. The food is good, but I will come back for the planes haha
This is not just a place to sit and have a quiet dinner. This place is suitable for large functions. Work related functions. Company’s Christmas party kind of spot.. Went for my company’s Christmas gathering. It’s a nice place, with cool airplane decor outside... Service is extremely slow when there are a lot of people. As far as food is concerned. The bar is fully loaded, and pretty much that’s where the party ends up being, by the bar. Lol.
Finally had a chance to check out The Proud Bird restaurant near LAX last week. Wish we had stopped by sooner. The Proud Bird is a great spot to have a beer outside on the patio and watch the planes glide by and land at the airport. Apparently they reworked the entire space. I’m not sure what it looked like before but it’s very family and kid friendly. Which is great for us. There’s a playground, lots of astroturf with plenty of space to run around, tons of cool looking grounded planes, many with historical significance and a nice variety of food and drink. We highly recommend. #familyfun #flying #flight #airplanes #daydrinking #outdoorbar #life #love #losangeles #grandparents #dadlife
My first visit to The Proud Bird was nothing short of amazing. It's close to LAX, this restaurant offers a dining experience that is both unique and memorable. The panoramic views of airplanes taking off create a captivating backdrop that adds a special touch to any meal. The food and drinks at The Proud Bird are good! The menu features a diverse selection of delicious dishes, from perfectly cooked steak, burgers and more! Each dish is thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented, making every bite a delight. The drink menu is equally impressive, offering a wide range of cocktails, wines, and craft beers that complement the food perfectly. The ambiance is lively yet comfortable, with aviation-themed decor that pays homage to the rich history of flight. The service is good, with friendly and attentive staff who ensure that every aspect of your visit is enjoyable. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, The Proud Bird is a must-visit. The combination of excellent food, fantastic drinks, and unparalleled views makes it a standout dining destination near LAX. Highly recommended! Visited 06-19-24
First time here since the remodel. It's very well done. You order food/drinks at the bar and a buzzer tells you when to pick up. The large window wall and outdoor seating make for perfect views of incoming aircraft. The historic planes onsite are fantastic. Our kids (3 & 5) loved the outdoor play structure too. On a beautiful day, sipping drinks on the patio watching landings would be a unique experience. As for the food, I loved the BBQ, but found it very pricey for what you get. (Would not recommend the cornbread side)
Really cool place to grab a yummy bite and watch the planes land! We took our two year old and he LOVED it! We saw planes landing non stop, he got to run around in the grass area and the kids play area and we got to eat and have a drink on the picnic benches while watching and playing with him. This is one of our new favorite spots in the south bay! Definitely recommend it if you have a toddler who likes airplanes!! They also had a pretty wide assortment of foods. American, pizza, Asian…I think there is something for everyone.
I needed a place to grab dinner near the airport. The Proud Bird fit my needs entirely. It wasn't a fast greasy spoon. It was a nice dining hall with kiosks to order from a variety of food places so it could meet most everyone's needs of traveling with lots of people. There is a large parking lot with free parking as well. There was plenty of seating as well as a bar. Outside there were fire pits on a patio overlooking a playground and some model plans. Also got to enjoy watching planes taking off and landing while we were there. The food was yummy, got a half pound of brisket to share so delicious, the waffle fries with the sauce was amazing and the Mac and cheese was homemade seeming, the California salad was fresh and had a good array of things. We were definitely impressed. Food didn't take too long either after ordering. Such a great experience and I highly recommend stopping in.
We had a beautiful experience. It was a Repast celebrating a awesome, loving and giving person life well lived. Her children reached out to the beautiful establishment The Proud Bird. They did a great job. ❤️
I really enjoyed the event I attended at The Proud Bird. There was ample parking and the food was very good. They put plenty of food on your plate, so bring your appetite with you. The staff was very attentive to our needs regarding the table. It's a lovely location to hold an event or just have a great dinner.
I visited The Proud Bird recently and it was a pretty cool experience. The location is really unique, kind of like an aviation museum with great views. The food was decent, and it’s a fun place to hang out. Overall, I’d say it’s a good spot if you want something different and interesting.
I loved it, and my kids loved it even more! Great experience in getting up close to the planes at a safe open space, while having great food and drinks. Kids loved the model planes and the playground. A great variety of food is available at a very reasonable price. All burgers could be replaced with beyond meat patty. So happy to have found this new spot.
A delightful locations that holds many details to surprise you. Take a walk through history of aviation while you enjoy your favorite drink. There is may different options for food, a well stocked bar and coffee. You may eat in the booths where there are large windows to get a glimpse of an amazing collection of classic aircrafts. Outside you may take a closer look while the children play in the playground. Planes land every few minutes just across the street! Great place to hang out with friends and family. Definitely recommend.
Great place to hang out, eat, drink, watch airplanes come in up close, and have your kids run around outside. Food is good (mostly American - burger, pizza, bbq, etc), with options for kids. Full bar for adults. There are also happy hour deals for those who work in the area and want to socialize after hours. This is my kids' favorite place, so we come here once-twice a month since the first one was a wee boy. Worth the drive from anywhere around LA. Hope this place stays open forever, so I can take my potential grandkids here many many years in the future! 😆
I was extremely impressed with the banquet service and the etiquette knowledge of the waiters and waitress assisting us with our selected menu. The presentation was excellent. A great place to have a party , weddings , meetings and spiritual gatherings. Everything was amazing and the parking was accessible. We paid 70 .00 but a portion of what we paid was going towards community and church expenses.
My first visit was back in 2019 and I'm excited to say they've really built the place up. It's a great aviation themed spot to sit back and enjoy the views of short final at LAX. They fixed up their display aircraft along with a refreshed menu. The staff is very friendly and helpful too. I'm really looking forward to my next visit
Overall, this is the best place to planespot at LAX for Runway 25. The food is also the best, as well as the amount of space you get to use to set up your camera, or just relax to watch. The only drawback (mostly if you are filiming, some young kids are very noisy, and it gets into the footage, which apparently annoys AvGeeks (Aviation lovers) and me. I would appreciate if the parents would have the kids quiet down, but other than that, this location is GOLDEN.
Large establishment near LAX and the metro/bus station. Stopped by for a few drinks after a flight, on the way to the bus/metro station. Plenty of parking for those that are driving, but is walking distance from the metro/bus station. Parking has 4 ww fighter planes with accompanying tales. I said establishment as it's a restaurant, as well as somewhat of a history place. You order from the bar and the food is prepared across the bar (see 2 photos). There's a kids play area inside as well. Behind the building is a playground, along with other planes.
This is a fantastic place! A hidden gem. Lots of parking, very specific indoor area with multiple spaces to hang out inside and out. Aviation exhibits throughout the building. Food court style to choose from a wife variety of culinary options. Reasonably priced. Bar section and outdoor patio lounge with fire pits. Watching the airplanes land at LAX is very impressive and as close as you'll ever get. There's a kid's playground outside at the back and it's clean with lots of fun elements. Also at the back, there's a small plane museum. The Proud Bird is also available for events. Definitely recommend checking this place of you have a chance. Totally worth it and I'll definitely come back.
The best family restaurant! For every parent who would like to enjoy a meal with their kids and then let their kids play while they enjoy a beautiful sunset or evening. There is a mini aviation museum with lots of historical military planes, there is a playground, there are fire pits, there are 6 food stations with kid-friendly menus, there is a bar. It's a great place to spend a long meal with friends while allowing the kids to play freely. You have to enjoy watching planes land and take off, and be willing to accept the associated noise, because that's a highlight! The food is good, great pizzas and burgers, nothing 5 stars, but very reasonably priced. And the staff was very friendly. I only wish there were more places like this one around the world!
The best BBQ and airplane history packed into one big, amazing restaurant right outside LAX. The food was great, very filling, nice portions reasonably priced. The atmosphere is awesome, you can take photos of the planes from the restaurant also. They have pulled pork, brisket, short ribs, chicken, plenty of sides. Truly a must stop for any visitor in LAX.
Locals love it. Kids including adult kids find everything they can imagine both food and fun. Burgers, Real smoked BBQ. Salads, greens, potatoes, waffles, Cuban sandwiches. Really happy employees. Lots of room, perfect climate control, no ice cold AC blowing right on you. Loved it, and you will too.
It is an amazing experience, having lunch watching the planes land at LAX. The food is good but they don't handle food allergies very well. I love WWII planes and there are a few jets sitting outside too. If I worked there I would have at least 1 plane that kids could climb around. The history timelines and displays make for interesting reading. I'm definitely going back.
Went with my two kids ahead of picking up dad at airport and it exceeded my expectations. First atmosphere is super entertaining - walking up there are tons of air craft to get the kids excited, inside is a mini flight museum and outside is amazing play gym with more planes to picnic under. Second food huge variety and my tacos were so good - big healthy portions. Service was confusing for a first time - I ordered at a tablet didn’t get a text receipt but was texted to pick up - wasn’t sure where to go to pick up and there isn’t staff around to help show how to do it. But now that done it once easy to do it again and we’ll definitely be back.
There needs to be more places like this. It’s unique in that kids and parents can equally enjoy themselves. The outdoor space is fully enclosed and there’s constant activity overhead from the flying planes. There’s even a playground for kids and fire pit areas you can sit at with drinks! When I first walked in I was overwhelmed because it felt like a museum but also a cafeteria style restaurant with a bar and dining hall. It’s super simple, you can download an app to order food and drinks from. Or you can find a screen at the counter to order from. We got a burger, some corn bread, and enjoyed a few drinks. Happy hour is from 4-7PM. The prices are very reasonable here, and will definitely be coming back because of the affordability, ease of having children, and fun atmosphere. Plenty of free parking out front!
Great location for plane spotting (south runway) with great vibes. Food selection is very good. From Salads to brisket, burgers, sandwiches and more. Also lots of options for alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Inside and outside seating. Prices are very reasonable for the location. Playground for little kids so be prepared to see lots of families there which added to the positive vibes at this location. Highly recommend it if you are in the area.
Amazing place to bring kids. The environment is fun, safe, and perfect for families. the whole space feels comfortable and well-designed. The food is mediocre. The real value is the experience and how much kids enjoy being here. Overall, it’s a great spot for an easy, enjoyable day with the family.
We had some time to kill before our flight back to the east coast, so we decided to check out The Proud Bird, near the airport. My husband had been here many years ago when it was just a restaurant, but the renovations done to provide a variety of food and drinks was similar to something we have in our home town. We weren't starving so we just ordered 2 pizzas to share, and they were delicious! I had a gluten free barbeque chicken pizza and I loved it! The playground was a perfect spot for our 6 year old and we all enjoyed walking around to see the planes on display. It was really neat every time I plane flew in too, as they were really close! Overall we had a great time here and would come back if we were in the area!
The atmosphere here was very special; Like a sports bar with an airplane (replica) museum looking an LAX runway. Then as an added bonus there's a playground if you have little kids.
Great spot to visit with family and friends. If you like airplanes and good wholesome food, The Proud Bird is a place to visit before taking a flight from LAX! Imagine a couple of different restaurants in one spot and a bar! Real early airplanes are placed around you and large dining tables with views to enjoy while you eat! Highly recommend if you like some delicious chicken and waffles for breakfast!
A must while in LA for plane enthusiasts! Inside and out, this place delivers. Enjoy a massive variety of food options inside and out, airplane hanger vibes with planes landing at LAX above. Fully licensed as well! Perfect for a date, families or even a special event…. And I heard an Arcade is coming!
Great place for all ages! Lots of variety for food and drinks (alcoholic and Starbucks menus)! They even have ice cream bars for hot days :) My child had fun watching the airplanes land and take off and I enjoyed looking at the historical displays. I would come as often as I could if I lived nearby and had a younger child :) Oh and parking is plenty and free!
I took my son to The Proud Bird, and we had cheese pizza 🍕. They don’t have many vegetarian options, but they offer great choices for meat lovers. It’s a wonderful place to host a kids’ birthday party. The view is amazing—you can watch planes landing and taking off. My son absolutely loved the experience and now wants to have his birthday party there with his school friends. Overall, a fun place with good food and a great atmosphere.
Taking kids here straight after a long flight is such a good routine. Food is pretty good, prices are pretty good, but the real highlight is the huge outdoor kids play area and the close-up view of the planes landing. Great for long, unstructured playtime. Wish this concept was more common.
Hardly noticeable from the street, given there are a few military aircraft in the parking area and several in the bazaar outdoor seating area. For some reason we never really saw a sign out front or at the entrance to the building. Decent food with decent portions. Very good onion ring basket. Cuban sandwich was good, typically Cuban, but not great. I’ve had much worse attempts. Service was ordering from a counter over there, then pick up order over there once you pager goes off. A neat place with aviation memorabilia and static displays and the LAX runways to watch aircraft landing. I give it an extra start because of the coolness of this place. Dicks
The Baseline: For a food court/multi-eatery venue, the food offerings must be varied, the seating areas must be well maintained and positioned, the ambiance needs a unifying theme, and the areas must be well serviced. Food: Great variety of offerings but I had Bludso’s BBQ on the day we came. Sandwiches, Burgers, salads, BBQ, Asian bowls, pizza, plus a full bar is available at the Proud Bird. The quality of the pulled pork sandwich and greens was awesome when I visited. Service: Order at a kiosk, wait, pick up order from the stationing area. Little human contact but efficient for the venue. This is also an event space and the staff are very good about taking care of your needs for scheduled events. Ambiance: Planes and play! That is the theme of the historic Proud Bird. There is a great indoor seating area themed to the inside of a plane but with more seating, a great outdoor space where kids can play while watching LAX flights land, and the inside has a museum display area which you learn about Mines Field and the beginnings of American Aviation industry & innovation. I love the upgrades to the Proud Bird.
What a hidden gem near LAX! The Proud Bird offers an incredible variety of food options—there’s truly something for everyone. The standout for us was the brisket: perfectly tender, juicy, and full of rich, smoky flavor. The fresh salad made a great complement, and the cocktails were expertly made and absolutely hit the spot. Beyond the food, the location couldn't be more convenient—just minutes from the airport and car rental centers, making it an ideal stop before or after a flight. We loved the relaxed atmosphere and spacious layout, especially with the added bonus of the aviation-themed park area where our son could run around and burn off some energy before our next flight. We’re already planning to come back before we leave town. Whether you're a local or just passing through, The Proud Bird is well worth a visit!
Had an event held here and food was catered by them! Overall atmosphere was great, waitress staff was timely and friendly. Quality and taste of the food was also amazing. The cheesecake dessert is so rich and flavorful, I typically don’t like cheesecake but I LOVED the one they served.
I had an outstanding experience at The Proud Bird and will be returning next time I'm in the LA area. There are food options for everyone provided by 5 unique food stations "restaurants" inside. I really enjoyed the Mile High Bar and Lounge after dinner and had lots of fun. I had the pizza today and it was phenomenal, next time I want to try the Beef Brisket. The staff are very attentive and friendly and want to ensure that you have the best experience. The whole property is an aviaition museum with lots of history so build extra time into your schedule when you visit so you can take in everything! I highly recommend you give them a try, you won't be disappointed and leave with ever lasting memories...I did.
The place is beautiful. As pricey as expected. $7 for a SpongeBob ice cream. Overall, nice views and the workers were friendly. My kid had a blast so gold star in my books.

It's been years since I've been to The Proud Bird and I was taken away when I walked in. I enjoyed the new remodel with a mini food court, the bar, and the outside patio. The food is reasonably priced and depending on what you ordered, decent to great tasting. As an avgeek, I loved the history of aviation in LA depicted on some of the walls and it's a nice spot to do plane spotting on the patio.
Loved the casual vibes of this place. Amazing spot for a kids playdate cute playground and few but decent food options. Only really issue was that it took long to get food but it looked like they may have been understaffed. Will definitely frequent this place more.
Very cool place to watch all the airplanes land in LAX. There is a decent exhibition of old planes in the surrounding of the building, good place to go with kids. Food itself is good but nothing amazing. I have to say the brisket was pretty yummy though. Parking is free. Cocktails aren't great
Concept: 10/10 Food: 8/10 Operations: 2/10 We visited with our 3 year old twins and this is an AMAZING place for families. One of the best in LA, honestly - we go all over the place with our kids and this is top tier. Employees are all working hard so the issue isn’t service, it’s the number of people working and the way operations are managed. It takes forever to get drinks, and we had to go back to the counter twice to actually get our full food order. Be patient and order early. If this place got its ops figured out it would dominate. In spite of the challenges we’ll be back, probably many times, and strongly recommend to anyone with kids - the upside is worth the hassle. If you DON’T have kids, you’ll have a better time somewhere else.
The two meat orders were pretty tasty. Strange that two different orders were served on a single metal tray with a paper liner. Not a fan of that. The table next to me said the pizza was delicious.
I really wanna give this place 5 stars so bad but Romina (not exactly sure of her title) has to be the most dismissive person I’ve ever met. Every encounter made me feel like I was a bother. If you have to plan an event please ask for Britney!! She’s amazing! Every question I asked was answered right away. I felt heard and reassured that our event will go exactly as planned. The night was perfect because of her presence. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful (even Jacob lol).
I reported details summary as incorrect as it says this place is a steak house with a brunch. We had layover on Saturday and was looking forward to Sunday brunch, the bartender told me it hasn't been a steak house in 7 years. The food we had was very good, chicken and waffles and a brisket sandwich with Mac and cheese. The planes and aviation history was great, just don't go if expecting steak.
Unique, aircraft themed restaurant, located at LAX runway. It’s an aerophile dream eatery. I had the Cubano sandwich with onion rings. Sandwich was good, but fairly small portion. The onion rings were coated in a very sweet batter. It has kind of a food court layout, with various choices available (BBQ, pizza, burgers, etc). Prices were on the high side, considering the portion, with no table service (order and food pickup yourself). I found the posted menu very difficult to read, but the counter guy suggested I use the nearby QR code to look at choices (good idea). Won’t return soon, but may stop by, if in the area.
Great place if you love aviation history and good food. Basically this historical place was a restaurant turned into a food court with lots of amazing choices. Great display of historic aircraft and aviation military history and great plane spotting joint. I had no food and got coffee and unfortunately to no fault of the person working as bartender, server and barista it (took 30 mins plus to get the order done) as she was the only one in behind the counter and bar for just two coffee specialty drinks drinks Otherwise amazing place.
The Proud Bird is a fantastic spot, especially if you're visiting with a group or have kids in tow. There's a wide variety of food options to choose from, which makes it easy to please everyone. The parking situation is great—plenty of space, so no stress when arriving. What really sets this place apart is how family-friendly it is. There's a huge outdoor area where kids can run around, explore old airplanes, and enjoy the playground. It’s a perfect venue for large gatherings or casual outings with friends and family. One of the highlights is the amazing up-close view of planes landing at LAX. If you're into aviation—or even just mildly curious—it adds a unique and exciting touch to the experience. That said, service can be slower during peak times. You may need to check in at the food counters, as alerts for when your food is ready aren’t always reliable. It's something to keep in mind, especially if you're juggling kids or visiting when it's busy. Overall, The Proud Bird offers great food, fun for kids, and a cool, aviation-themed atmosphere you won't find anywhere else. Highly recommended for families and large groups!
Cool food hall with aviation theme. It’s great for kids as it has a large play area with plenty of seating for parents. There are various counters that you can order from (you pay first) including tacos, fried chicken, and more. We tried the chicken and waffle and order of tacos. There’s a self-service water station. Plenty of seating indoors and it looked like they had areas for private group events too. The food was solid and it was a convenient spot to go to after picking up my friend from LAX.
This is a very cool unique diamond in the rough. It’s essentially an outdoor kids playground, but you get to enjoy adult food and beverages purchased from the indoor “food court”….all while surrounded by aviation history, memorabilia and several actual old school decommissioned airplanes! Food options are basic and can take some time if it’s crowded, but it’s nice to just sit outside on the Astro-turf and relax as all the kids run around! VictorB
The bacon burger was yummy . The bread is sweet and gives it a good taste .Always nice to stop by and read the facts in the mini museum in the entrance. Very cool

the bbq is super not worth. brisket is over cooked. I've been here plenty of times giving us leftover brisket from yesterday. Play ground so small.
You can view the airplane after airplanes getting ready to land at the LAX airport. There's a full bar and food inside The Proud Bird

I had the brisket and a Texas Link with two sides (Mac n cheese and coleslaw) from Bludso"s BBQ.The brisket had a little smoke flavor but overall bland. The Mac n cheese was all cheese no flavor. BBQ served with no pickles or plain bread/roll should be against the law!!! The best item was the Texas Hot Link... It was very delicious. The aviation displays and view of landing plans was Awesome. Based on food experience alone...Overall I would not suggest it or try again.
This spot was ultimately a great choice to kill some time and get some lunch before our flight. The kids loved the playground outside & watching the flights land. Our food was also really good. Our drinks & the service is the reason I'm not giving 5 stars. There was a female bartender that under poured, especially in comparison to the male bartender (and their drinks are not cheap). She also appeared to be sick, and coincidentally (or maybe not) I had the flu about 12 hours later. Still not sure where it came from, but she is my best guess. Aside from her, the service wasn't bad. We were welcomed walking in, informed when our food was ready, etc. They don't bring you your food, but we didn't mind that.
Wonderful family oriented restaurant!! Totally recommended!! We love love The Proud Bird... TODAY, May 1st we came back. Beautiful view full of people......and then we ordered food......TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE.... I ordered chicken tenders, fries and coleslaw. The chicken tenders were burnt, the fries cold and rubbery taste. I still have stomach pain at 11pm!! Please, change the cook or menu....we love the place!! But the food is a problem here!!
Food was not good at all for the price paid which is close to $25 per person. The aviation history and airplane view is the only good things about this location. Jesus Christ Loves You!!!
Had such high hopes for this place! Beer, food and a playground for my toddler to run wild?! Unfortunately, our burgers were maybe worse than fast food quality. The patties were grey. The loaded tots were even bad. It really turned us off. I wouldn't eat here again but it's a good place if you want a drink and to let your kid be loud and play.
I've never actually eaten at this restaurant before. My mother was going there with a group of people and I asked her if she would get me something To Go. So the service & the atmosphere experience was all on her. She enjoyed it all. She ordered the Nashville Chicken Sandwich and the Loaded Tater Tots for me. The Tater Tots were great. The chicken sandwich on the other hand was burnt & I didn't taste any heat. I was hungry & I don't believe in food waste if it's still edible; but it wasn't a pleasant experience at all. Based on this Takeout experience, I don't know when I'll want to have a Dine-in one. In the photo it looks like the chicken has sauce on it, it doesn't, that's the mayo sauce from the bread. Sorry for the bitten sandwich but that's the only way you'd see inside.
So glad Bludsoe's BBQ is a little closer to where I live now. But the system of picking your food up is broken. It sits there and gets cold until they text you that is ready. There is a centralized food pickup area. It would be better if the restaurant you ordered from is where you picked your food up from.
My kids enjoy coming here but I do have to say I was disappointed with the lack of communication. Ordering food is so confusing. We had to ask a random customer. Food is a bit pricey and small servings. They should at least have a sign somewhere that explains how it works. Customers are left guessing. A bit disorganized in my opinion.
Really disappointed in our experience here. The website makes it look like a calm relaxing place to get a nice meal and a drink on your way to or from LAX. The only good thing was plenty of free parking. Once inside, you order at a kiosk and no one is around to answer questions. It was crowded and really noisy on a Saturday around 5pm. The food was so-so and cost the same as if we had eaten at the airport. If you bring kids with you, they will like it. There's a game arcade inside and a playground with an area to run around outside. But don't come here expecting a relaxing meal, it was much quieter at the airport. We won't be back.
Listen, I’m going to be honest. As an aviation geek, this place is super cool. But I’m a bit disappointed in the food quality. I was the first person of the day to order, and got a pulled pork sandwich and macaroni and cheese for $20+ dollars. I was hoping for the price, the sandwhich would be warm. It wasn’t. It was cold, but I guess, with the sauce, still good, but cold. The macaroni was good though. Just wish the sandwhich was made more fresh and warm, especially for being customer #1. For two items, at $24 dollars, it was not worth it. Items are expensive. If they lower prices, and work on quality, it’d be a lot better.
Bludso's BBQ is in The Proud Bird, an aviation-themed food hall. The ambiance and environment is amazing with planes all over the place. But the food doesn't match the ambiance. The brisket had amazing flavor but was mostly fatty chunks. Cornbread was dry and didn't have much flavor, definitely not a fan. Overall, if you have kids, they'll love this place. But if you're coming for the food, you will likely not be a fan.
Came on a Sat with a group for the first time. Plenty of parking in the lot and seating inside and out. It was a little confusing as how the ordering system worked and where to start. I think there was supposed to be "host" at the entrance area? Ambiance is a cool airplane-themed design. Overall decent experience for a food hall concept. Decided to use the self order kiosk. The receipt machine didnt work so sent to my email thankfully (needed to confirm food order). The order confirmation via text also didnt work so we waited a bit longer and food was luke warm by the time we picked up the food. Food was only okay, nothing special in terms of flavor or wow factor at all and food presentation was meh. Cheeseburger for example looked like the bun fell off several times and they just through the toppings on. Big highlight is the most obvious which is the outside: planes flying overhead, kids playground and even a bar for adult beverages. Good spot to hang out with family and friends.
My friend took me to dinner before traveling via LAX. He was surprised at the changes of the place. It was a sit down restaurant in the day but now it is a food hall that offers bbq, fried chicken,…

You can let your kids run around here which is nice. The grounds were littered in garbage and the food tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp all day. The airplanes look fake, the trees need be trimmed, the concrete needs to be pressure washed, and they should build a proper fence instead of having Home Depot buckets and plastic tarps. This place had good potential under proper management
If it weren’t for the playground, we honestly wouldn’t come here. The only real draw is that the kids enjoy it. Beyond that, the place is a frustrating experience. It feels like they’re losing money because they refuse to staff actual servers. Parents end up juggling kids while also doing the work of ordering—either by standing in long lines or by using the self-order kiosks, which still mean waiting around. Meanwhile, you’re expected to leave a tip. I still do, because you can tell the workers are trying hard, but they’re set up to fail with this system. It feels unfair both to the staff and to the customers. On top of that, the food is overpriced and underwhelming. It’s a food court setup with several different restaurants, but the quality doesn’t match what you’d get if you went to the actual locations. For example, Bludso’s usually has fantastic barbecue at their restaurant, but here it was dry and disappointing. Bottom line: good playground, bad execution everywhere else.
Cool place, been here forever. Service was slower than slow and the food was cold when we got it. waited over 45 minutes...and it was all premade (cafeteria style). If you have kids and want to let them play/ have a drink and hang out this place is fine. if you are looking to sit down and enjoy a meal this is not the place.
I’ve been coming to The Proud Bird near LAX for 20+ years. Over that time, the food has definitely changed, but for the most part it’s always stayed *good*. Never the best food in the area, but consistently solid and perfect for a quick lunch. That reliability is what kept me coming back. Unfortunately, I think they’ve taken a real turn for the worse with the installation of these ordering kiosks. Not only do you now have to stand there and figure out how to use them, but nothing about the process is clear. The menus aren’t intuitive, the flow doesn’t make sense, and to top it off, the credit card machine was literally upside down. It took me three different cards before I finally realized what was going on. That’s not “modern convenience” — that’s frustration. I don’t mind change when it improves the experience, but this does the opposite. It slows everything down, removes the human interaction, and makes what used to be an easy stop unnecessarily annoying. After more than two decades of visits, this was unfortunately my last. Disappointing way to end a long run with a place I used to enjoy.
This is my first time my impression is too loud. The service is horrible the time to get your food we wait a long long time , overall sucks I never come back again ever

Never coming back to this place. The waiting time for food was over 50 minutes and the food is not that great.
Don't order the chicken and waffles unless you're prepared to wait 40 minutes. There's nobody here and my friend already finished his meal and beer and I'm watching them poyr the batter now for the…
Be prepared to wait 30 mins for fast food style food. Great for kids and watching planes land. Great for kids. Waiting for food was extremely long. It didn’t appear that busy. Logistics seemed slow.
I’ve been a longtime fan of Proud Bird and used to bring my kids here regularly to unplug from screens and enjoy the outdoor museum and play areas. It felt like a healthy, interactive space where children could connect and explore. Unfortunately, the recent addition of the arcade has really changed the atmosphere. It disrupts the museum/play dynamic and feels more like a money grab than an enhancement to the experience. The very first game being filled with candy was especially disappointing. As a parent who prioritizes healthy habits, it’s frustrating to see junk food and prize-based gaming front and center. This new direction feels inconsistent with what originally made Proud Bird special. Sadly, we won’t be returning anytime soon.
