I have visited Yunomi like 7 times and it was never disappointing. They are making good tempura which is the reason I always get the Rock shrimp tempura. Also the Sunomono(cucumber salad) is good for appetizer too(I uploading lots of pic of them lol). For the handroll, Yunomi special, Unagi, Scallop, Tuna are fire! Don't forget join waitlist through yelp before you arrive. It is usually crowded during lunch or dinner time.

First time at Yunomi and it definitely won’t be the last! The atmosphere is modern with a great sense of style — clean, welcoming! I tried a few hand rolls, and every single one was incredibly fresh and flavorful. The Negi Toro and Yunomi Special were absolute standouts — seriously, next-level good. The staff were super friendly and made the experience even better with some pleasant, casual conversation. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel comfortable. Highly recommend if you're into quality food and a chill vibe. Will definitely be coming back soon!

Amazon hand roll. I only had avocado cucumber hand roll and it was good. The Brussel sprouts and shishito peppers are delicious. The bar design was cool. Staff were friendly. There are only bar seats no dining tables and you have to wait until all parties arrived to be seated. Overall I had a pretty good experience.

Incredible handroll specialty restaurant. Amazing choice of beers and sake. Loved the appetizers and our favorite handroll was the yunomi special. Bar seating only, but a wonderful experience. Decently priced for the quality of food and atmosphere provided. Lovely place for specialty occasions and birthdays.

Wowza! Been traveling for a month and this was the best food I’ve had during the trip. Absolutely delicious appetizers and hand rolls. Everything we ate was 10/10. They also have an exhaustive list of beers and sake. Will absolutely come back on my next visit to LA.

Delicious handrolls with lots of options for “sets” and “a la carte” selection. Each fish option has a customizable “spicy or regular” and seaweed paper or soy paper. I love love looooved their Yunomi roll which has perfect texture and lots of flavor. They have an impressive selection of Japanese beer including a matcha ipa and plenty of sake options by the bottle or single serve. Will definitely come back!

Yunomi Handroll is an absolute gem! The food is delicious, with fresh, high-quality ingredients that make every bite incredible. The spicy albacore on crispy rice is an absolute must-try; perfectly crispy, flavorful, and just the right amount of heat. On top of that, the staff is so friendly and attentive, making the dining experience even better. I’m glad I just moved to walking distance from this absolutely gem!

Hands down the most delicious handrolls I've ever had in my life! Where has this been all my life?! My husband and I both got the six handroll set (spicy). As soon as my handroll was placed on the table, I devoured it! They couldn't make it quick enough. The service is great! Everyone that we interacted with was very friendly and professional. Yunomi is a must try if you're in Los Angeles.

Excellent sushi. We sadly arrived at around 8pm and the place was fully booked. They offered the possibility of doing a take away. Was a great idea, they provide their own custom box and everything is neatly placed. Exquisite

Wondered in off the street as we were walking past and were pleasantly surprised by how good this place is. Seaweed salad was delicious and 100% seaweed, not padded out with lettuce. The dressing on the ceviche was perfection with perfect acidity. Salmon skin handroll had the perfect crisp and flavour. Best part was nothing was unnecessarily sweet like a lot of American Japanese. Definitely coming back.

January 2026 - Made a reservation. Since there's a time limit on the seating and wait times can be long, I highly recommend making a reservation. Overall I would come back if I feel like dealing with the parking situation. Food/Pricing - Spicy Albacore Crispy Rice $16 - if you do not enjoy fried onion, this dish may not be for you as they do add hella onion on top of the albacore but I do enjoy the taste of it so I loved this dish. Six Handroll Set $30 - tuna, albacore, salmon, yellowtail, scallop, shrimp tempura. All solid and we ordered all of them spicy, which honestly was not spicy at all but just had a very slight kick. Service/Ambiance - quick and friendly service. Parking - Paid a crazy amount to park across the street. The rate was like $4 for every 15 minutes. Try your best to find street parking.

Stopped in here for just a beer and the kitchen accidentally made me a spicy salmon hand roll even though I had closed my tab. They let me have it for free and oh my God it was the best sushi roll I have ever had in my life. Perfectly cooked rice, well marinated salmon that wasn't too spicy and the seaweed wrap wasn't crunchy, which I prefer. This place is truly a hidden gem you need to go to! I would have reopened my tab if my group wasn't waiting for me.

Visited Yunomi Handroll recently with my wife, and we really enjoyed trying something new. It feels like handroll spots are becoming a big trend in downtown LA these days, and this place is definitely part of that wave. Yunomi has even received recognition from the Michelin Guide, so we were pretty excited to check it out. When we arrived, the place was already packed and people were waiting for seats. The setup is bar-style dining, and the rolls are made right in front of you, which is pretty fun. The flavor was good overall—fresh, clean, and a bit unique in its own way—but maybe because I had high expectations from the Michelin feature, it didn’t quite exceed what I imagined. Still, everything was solid and enjoyable. Like many spots in downtown LA, the prices felt a bit on the higher side. Also, parking in this area is tough. They do offer valet, but it’s not cheap. If you plan ahead and find street parking early, you can save a bit. Overall, good food, trendy vibe, and a nice experience trying something new—just be prepared for parking challenges and slightly higher prices.

I heard good things about Yunomi and I was looking for a new restaurant to try with a friend and we came here! We got the 3-roll combo because we are both broke college students and felt like this was a good combination that could allow us to sample some of the options. The tuna was fairly unmemorable but the quality of the fish was solid. The salmon was buttery and had a very clean bite, which was probably my favorite roll. I liked the crispiness of the tempura and the contrast with the cucumber, but it was a little batter heavy. Overall, it was a little pricey for how much food it was but 3 rolls was sufficiently filling for me.

Handrolls are sizeable and pretty dang spectacular. Service is friendly and top notch. The only thing that sucks here is the seating if you are short. No where to put your feet so they just uncomfortably dangle while your legs go numb LOL and the tiny bar stool was much smaller than my butt. Other than that, just get in my tummy and take my money! 💋

(also posted on their Yelp page) Yunomi can be compared to Kazu Nori because they make hand rolls. Food is good. Service is ok. Parking sucks. Ambiance is great. Yunomi has a small-ish space in side because the seats are along the bar around the kitchen where they make drinks and hand rolls. They have two bathrooms in the back, but the hand washing station is outside the bathrooms. My party of three had to wait about 10-15 minutes even on a week day night. I personally had five hand rolls and still wasn't completely full. The guy who greeted us when we got seated knew it was our first time there, but he said nothing except the menu is obtained by scanning the QR code on the table. It was good thing I checked out the menu from photos posted online because he came back really quickly to take our orders. I think the hand roll sets are a cool way to try different fish, but the blue crab and negi toro and unagi are probably the better ones to try. They're more expensive - the negi toro is $11 lol. There's free parking in the streets, but it took me 30 minutes to finally find a spot and I still had to walk 7 minutes to the restaurant. At least you can get Salt & Straw for dessert across the street.

No-frills handroll experience that focuses on the essentials. The handrolls are solid across the board, but the standout here is actually the spicy albacore crispy rice. The albacore is soft, enhanced by the truffle soy sauce. But it’s the crunchy onions, generously piled on top, that enhance it further. I was even using them to garnish my handrolls. The wasabi peas were the right temperature of warm, an addictive snack to munch on before the handrolls. The tuna, albacore, salmon, shrimp tempura, and yellowtail handrolls all consist of fresh fish and fairly crisp seaweed. However, the rice-to-fish ratio felt a little off for me. The rolls were substantial, but I did feel the rice could be toned down a bit. Still, the quality of the ingredients, paired with the efficient sushi bar service, made for a satisfying meal. Good value for the price. The space is light and airy, the right mix of casual and contemporary for a quick handroll fix.

I visited Yunomi Handroll on a Sunday around lunchtime, and while some elements of the meal were enjoyable, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. To start with the positives: the Unagi was flavorful and well-prepared—tender, with just the right amount of sweetness and char. The fried shrimp appetizer was another highlight: crispy, hot, and perfectly seasoned. Service at the counter was fast and efficient once we were seated, and the food came out quickly. Unfortunately, getting to that point was a whole ordeal. Parking was a nightmare, and once we arrived, there was a wait to be seated despite I got waitlisted 45 minutes ago. Once seated, we found the seating to be very uncomfortable—tight spacing, stiff stools, and a general lack of comfort that made it hard to settle in and enjoy the meal. For a place where you’re meant to sit and eat rolls fresh as they come out, the setup felt rushed and cramped. Bottom line: Yunomi has some tasty menu items, particularly the Unagi and fried shrimp, and the kitchen moves fast—but the logistics and environment make it hard to recommend, especially on a busy weekend. If you go, consider visiting at an off-hour and prepare to eat quickly.

I walked into the restaurant and the guy as a reception tells me to put my name on the waiting list via iPad (yelp), two girls walk in after me and they were seated right the way, me still waiting............. I asked the reception (a guy) why can't I be seated then he ask : are you ready? Me : yes (my stomach and wallet were ready) This place serve fusion Japanese food (not authentic), chef is non Japanese and not Asian either. Credit card only, if you pay cash they don't give you change back and they will take back the receipt, as you were never there. Green tea (both hot and ice) are free refill. Spicy yellowtail serrano sashimi and spicy albacore sashimi are both too sour. Good luck on street parking, I was lucky. Will NEVER come back!!!!!
