George's 50s diner is everything a diner should be. Breakfast, burgers, fries, shakes, pies and burritos? Yes you read that right, George's not only serves all the usual diner standards, but they also serve some Mexican offerings too, like breakfast burritos and chorizo and eggs. Everything on the menu is delicious and George (the owner and chef) and Helen (front of house) make sure that everyone feels like family. On this lunch visit with my father I had the 62 Thunderbird Burger (with strips of green Ortega chiles), onion rings and a bottomless iced tea. The burger comes partly deconstructed on the plate. The leaf lettuce, tomato and pickles come on the side so that you can add only what you like onto the burger. A very thoughtful touch. My father had the chorizo and egg breakfast plate with beans, rice, tortillas (corn or flour) and a bottomless coffee. All the ingredients are high quality, expertly cooked and generously portioned. Don't miss the opportunity to have some great food and great service with a slice of history.
I went their for the Re-Grand Opening. I worked there when it was called Terry's. Gorge was the head chef at Terry's. Him and his wife took it over. Unfortunately it caught fire. I went to the Re-Grand Opening of George's 50's Diner. Looks great. George and Helen has done a great job in building the historic location.
I enjoy eating at George restaurant the food is really good and the staff are very friendly
We got machaca, super huevos rancheros, and an order of French toast and all were so so delicious! The rice and beans were particularly good. Coffee was better than expected. Nice people too.
Ordered the 50’s Burger and the Bisquits and Gravy it was very good. It was a healthy portion of both plates. Service is great and the place is very clean. Definitely coming back.
Great place to eat for breakfast or catch a burger, always great attention to the customer, and the classic '60s and '70s theme is really cool and fitting for such a historical place.
Food was delicious. Excellent customer services.
Our server was great. She anticipated everything we needed. My steak was a little bland, but nothing a bit a salt count fix. Over all I enjoyed it and would come back. Their breakfast burrito is really good and filling.
We got the Crispy Chicken Salad and they are HUGE AND PERFECT and worth every penny! I forgot to get pictures when they first brought them out, but they have everything on them! You will love these salads! They don't have the salads in the options below when it asks you to check off what you recommend, so I just chose the biscuits and gravy and the toast from the options available because I saw the biscuits and gravy and the toast and they are huge servings that look very very delicious. You will never regret eating here. We live in the area and we are definitely coming back. Six thumbs way up. 👍👍
A great little retro diner down in Long Beach. I am working through a list of all diners in LA County and next up on my list was George’s. It’s a classic Los Angeles throwback diner, which I personally love. They don’t have outside seating, but they have plenty of tables inside as well as counter seating. Our server was also extremely polite and everything that we ordered came out as requested and quickly. They have a large parking lot attached with plenty of free spaces so parking will never be an issue. For my first visit I chose the Hamburger Steak & Eggs and really enjoyed all of it. The eggs were cooked exactly as I requested, and the steak was done perfectly. It had a lot of flavor and the portion size was very generous. The coffee was strong and the price was fair so I would definitely recommend to any diner fan or to anyone searching for a great casual spot for breakfast or lunch.
George’s 50s diner. The place to go for friendly service and great food, while listening to oldie tunes during your visit.
We just left this place on a Sunday morning .(Mother’s Day ) place felt nice and not crowded so it was nice . Good was decent . Great customer service and overall good
One of my favorite places to bring my kids. Great music (Golden Oldies & Doo Wop). Food is always cooked to order, Fresh and out to the table fast - even when it’s busy! I always recommend this place to visitors to Long Beach/LA.
Good atmosphere, music, and large portioned food. Coffee was delicious, and the service was prompt. I will be stopping there again. Thanks!

I grew up in the area and always loved that we had a diner. Stopped in today for breakfast and had the most delicious Chilaquiles. The salsa the flour tortillas on the side made the meal perfect. Service was excellent and it was overall a very relaxing atmosphere.

Great food and great service. We put in our breakfast order and before I could drink a cup of coffee it was already being served to us.
Super friendly server and great food. We ordered the nomad57 burger w/bacon and the clubhouse sandwich. Drink cranberry * Menu prices arent updated they didnt match what we paid.
Love this diner and the the workers also! The food is good and reasonably priced.
First time visit, the service was exceptional. We were greeted and seated right away. Our order did not take long, they checked on us enough and made sure we had a refill the food was great. The place is incredible it felt like we were back in time. Staff was so sweet on our way out, we will drive out and hour for such a great experience.
🤩 A One-of-a-Kind Los Angeles Gem! If you are looking for a dining experience that is unique and bursting with charm, you must check out George’s 50s Diner in Long Beach. This place isn't just a diner; it's a step back in time! The aesthetic and charm are one-of-a-kind. The whole place, from the colored booths to the classic decor, feels like a true, authentic, old-school mom and pop diner that you don't see anymore. It's immaculate, vibrant, and full of nostalgic character. But the atmosphere is only half the story. The heart of George's 50s Diner is its amazing staff. It’s clear that this is a family-run and operated establishment, and the folks who work there are genuinely so kind and welcoming. A huge kudos to George, Helen, Arturo, and the entire staff… you make every visit feel like coming home. Don't miss out on this Los Angeles gem!
I love the staff here, super speed for service, coffee cup is always full, staff are nice and very friendly and they remember you if you're a repeat customer which makes you feel welcome.

I thought this place was still closed when I saw people inside. They should put some signs in the window. I largely ignored the building knowing it was closed previously. But its open! The place is very clean and new looking with a true 50s look. Very cute. I ordered French toast, 2 eggs and bacon. Not hard. Came super quick and was tasty. I'm pretty sure the butter was margarine (eww), my only complaint. But a cool place and well priced!
Decided to get the bacon breakfast burrito. Very tasty, especially the cheese for some reason. Love that they add rice. Only thing missing from the atmosphere is the 50s pop music.
Fun place to go to for basic 50s food. The customer seem friendly compared to other resturants. Liked the foor but service a little slow
I haven't been here in about 20 years (moved out of state) but not a lot has changed, that I remember. The food is good and served hot. The servers were very nice but struggled to understand what we said (English is not their first language). They made a few mistakes but corrected the ones we brought to their attention quickly and politely. We would definitely go back if we lived here.
Cute place with lots of history. Service helpful but appeared understaffed. Food typical diner fare with themed names on items.
Came here to have breakfast with my best friend and her daughter. Place looks kinda run down, staff was friendly, the food was good, a little on the cold side but it tasted pretty homemade which I liked. The only thing is we had to keep asking for the obvious things like, straws, napkins, silverware... They forgot to add the avocado to my friend's omelette so they brought it on the side, but the staff didn't seem upset or bothered by us asking for the things we needed.
Nice little spot. Nothing crazy to write about and no real negatives. Food was what you’d expect, nothing amazing. Atmosphere is nice and fun and definitely fits into the gimmick.
I grew up watching a cinderella story and it’s still my favorite movie. I was so stoked to visit the location of its filming! The staff was so nice and let us take pictures when we finished our meal (which was at closing time). It was so fun so figure out how the movie was filmed in the diner. I couldn’t believe Chad michael murray and Hilary duff filmed here 20 years ago. Such a fun experience!!
Haven't been there since 2019 because their hours are not enough right now its 8am to 2pm. They are serving breakfast all day. The biscuits and gravy was pretty good with the grilled onions and other stuff. They have inside and outside seating.
Ordered the chicken fried steak. It was delicious. Wanted extra crispy hash browns but they were not crispy. I ding think the server was paying attention. He seemed rushed. Overall it was good. Pricing was average compared to other nearby spots
Cute diner! Fast service and sweet waitress. Tried the chilaquiles and the chorizo burrito with potatoes. Will return to try the lunch menu. The shakes and onion rings looks tasty.
Food is good. I like the pancakes

Been wanting to come here for the longest and finally came with my husband and kids. The food is mid and the service was beyond horrible. The servers where attending all the regular folks first and left us until the end. Even regulars that came in after us where helped and serve way faster!. We also felt like we didnt get the same treatment as they did. Only employee that did help us out with respect was the older man (bus boy) . Other than that we will never be back
