Very authentic food and the place in general - feels like Peru!
Fantastic local Peruvian restaurant. Food is very fresh and perfectly cooked. Super plump fried shrimp, spicy ceviche, fresh vegetables, Couldn’t have been more satisfied. Two main dishes are probably enough for 3 people as portions are generous though not outrageously so.
Family owned makes me want to triple support. My ceviche was super fresh, and it’s been three times consistently delicious. Generous portions, great prices. The Huancaina sauce is delicious. Wish it came with more olives though.
This Peruvian place had good tasting food. We ordered salchipapa and the rice chaufa with seafood. The salchipapa was comfort on a plate and the mixed chaufa was seasoned well and tasted fresh! Since this was a smaller scale restaurant , there was one server attending to multiple tables. Gives it a pretty homey vibe.
Family-run restaurant, mom and dad in the kitchen making amazing food and daughter in front serving guests. Incredible Ceviche Carretillero (fish ceviche and fried squid) and extremely delicious and piping hot lomo saltado, actually made in a wok because you can taste the difference and the perfect cook of the veg and marinated beef. Incredibly underrated spot, so so so so worth visiting. Sundays before 5 are a good time to come to get fast service as it’s not too busy. This place needs to blow up!
OMG, definitely if you looking for original and delicious seafood - definitely recommend 1000% super amazing food and the outdoor patio is SUPER especially for SUMMER TIME and outdoor seating, excellent service and you will loved! - Thanks to Anny.
As an American Peruvian, I can truly say this restaurant is like eating at your parents and family’s home. The food is authentic Peruvian cuisine. Each dish is so flavorful and cooked to perfection. We have our favorites such as: ceviche (both of fish & mixed seafood), breaded chicken cutlet, jalea (mixed fried seafood chunks), tamales, and parihuela (hearty seafood soup). Besides the food they also welcome you like family and make sure that you are fully satisfied. We have hosted birthday dinners here and honestly make any excuse to come eat here. It’s a definite must try!
Absolutely delicious! My husband and I stopped in for lunch and chose it by location. We were excited to see it had high reviews, and it excelled our expectations. The dishes are very reasonably priced and the food is delicious. We had a tamale to share which was so good and big enough to share. The red aji it comes with is spicy and tastes so good. And then ordered 2 Lomo Saltados de Pollo which were more vinegary, which tasted amazing. The green aji was a spicy cilantro lime sauce was so good we used up almost an entire bottle. If it was closer we would come back so much often. Next time we are in the area, we'd definitely stop by and eat here again. It's about 11 minutes away from Hoboken. Its a little small inside but can easily fit about 20 people. The restaurant got packed, and we are not surprised why.. the food is stupendous. Highly recommend!
Muy rica la comida! I ordered delivery and the lady I spoke to was very nice. My food was delivered promptly and it was still hot. I had the Lomo Saltado, a Peruvian classic and my favorite. Delicious! 👌🏼
First time going there. Had a great time The food was delicious. Served quite quickly. Loving Waitresses/Waiters. Our Waitress was kind and made sure we enjoyed our time being there. The small snacks they give you are amazing. Once you eat one. You'll want more. Their small green hot sauce is lovely. Easy on the tongue. Their green sauce had a nice taste and the spice wasn't strong. It made your tongue tingle just a bit. Truly good sauce it is. Pros: Good tasty Food. Nice and comfy area and decorations. Good customer service. Cons: Only one so far but it's a minor error. My plate had steak. The waitress did not ask how I wanted it. But the steak came out well done yet juicy. So I'll let it slide. Now the real question is.... Would I come back to this restaurant? Yes I would truly come back for more. Would I recommend this place? Of course I would
I stayed in Weehawken for 3 weeks on a business trip, and discovered this place in my second week. Can't say how authentic everything was, but both the ceviche and the yellow rice with seafood tasted very fresh and good. I also had the Peruvian 'national drink', chicha morada, for the first time in my life, and it was a 'charismatic', and very delicious and refreshing treat. It was house made and tasted better than a bottled store version I bought a few days later in a supermarket.
If they still have octopus ceviche, do yourself a favor and have it. It's a good portion and the best I've had in New Jersey. The special rices brings together land, sea and sky. The service is alright, but on the bright side the place is constantly playing Spanish television. News, shows, soap operas. I saw a full 30 minute episode of La Rosa de Guadalupe once.
No rotisserie chicken, chicha morada was ok (little bit of an after taste), lomo and pollo saltado could've used more soy sauce and more sauce in general. They did have diet Inca Cola which is super hard to find, so that was a definite plus! The waitress was nice and friendly.
I really dislike leaving bad reviews but this was disappointing. I ordered because the reviews were good but our tallarin saltado (carne) & chaufa (pollo) were way too salty. It tasted like they had put way too much soy sauce and the chicken was dry :( I've had plenty of peruvian food as my boyfriend is peruvian but he refuses to finish the rest. On a better note, the alfajores were delicious.
Food was too salty and greasy. Wasted my money and raised my blood pressure. Never again. I see why it was completely empty on a Saturday. The reviews got me, I guess they used to be good. I regret not going to Arriba Peru. A little farther up Bergenline but much much better. El Tallarin estaba muy salado y con mucha grasa. Me suvio la pression y nada como la foto. Lla veo porque el restaurante estaba vasio en un sabado. Me repenti a no ir para Arriba Peru.
I got seafood soup and it tasted horrible. The consistency was nectary, tasted like tomato paste and salt water. The rice didn’t have enough salt and parts of it was mushy. To top it off it was expensive too.
