On our last day of our trip after sightseeing, as we were walking we stumbled upon Joe's. We were looking for both Fish and Chips and Lobster Rolls. Luckily they had both. Another indicator was that they were busy. Great choice! Everything we ordered came out perfect. It's always great to find new places to eat. Will be back in the near future.
Joe's Waterfront in Boston is a gem located right by the water, offering stunning views and an inviting atmosphere. The food at Joe's Waterfront is exceptional, with the crab appetizer standing out as a highlight. Fresh and tasty, this dish is a must-try for seafood lovers. The service is attentive and friendly, adding to the overall delightful dining experience. The cocktails are crafted to perfection, complementing the delicious food. The restaurant also offers outdoor seating, allowing guests to enjoy their meal with a beautiful waterfront backdrop. The ambiance inside is equally impressive, making Joe's Waterfront a perfect spot for a memorable dining experience.
First restaurant to start our vacation in Boston. It was super delicious! Nothing we ordered disappointed us. Selma is a beautiful young lady who was our server & she was very helpful on making choices from drinks to suggestions on the menu.
Had the lovely opportunity to have Carolyn/Carolin as our server and she was amazing. She was so nice and welcoming. She talked to our table about herself and held conversation more than just basic customer service. The food was amazing and had great portions. The staff were all wonderful and inviting! The view was very nice as we were sat next to the windows. Some may find the prices a bit high, however you are paying for quality food. I ordered the 10 hr rack of ribs and it fell off the bone. The fries were perfect and everyone else at my table were very satisfied and full by the end of the meal. The restaurant is very clean and well organized! Very nice restaurant to go to! (picture is of their clam chowder and it is the BEST I have ever had) Also their artichoke dip is AMAZING!
Eight years ago my family had the gall to go to Boston without me. For eight years I’ve heard non-stop about how good the caramel bread pudding at Joe’s was. After finally trying it, they were right. It was bomb. Highlights were the delicious cheeseburger spring rolls, clam chowder, and lobster rolls. Mashed potatoes were also good, but I will note they came out cold. Chicken piccata had good flavor but it wasn’t anything to write home about. Could probably get better at another restaurant in the North End but still tasty as a whole. A little watery for my taste. Our waitress, Meg, was a delight. Very sweet and attentive. It was a great place to enjoy a cold beer and watch the Celtic’s game.
We sat outside in the lounging area until our table was ready. The food was divine, and they were very accommodating when it got too cold and windy inside and we asked if one of the doors could be shut. Get the lobster roll....hot, with butter and may on the side. And it does not matter if you don't like Brussel sprouts...get the appetizer! (you are welcome)
It was a perfect day to eat outside by the water. Our service was EXCELLENT. Very patient and informative. The steak tips were delicious but I wish they served more. The Calamari was tender and crunchy. My wife enjoyed her Portobello sandwich. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Aug 2024: Enjoyed the meal the nachos were delicious and the fish sammich was relatively good! Happy some boston places have yummy dishes. The lobster role wasn’t worth the price. Enjoyed the experience and our server Ryan was amazing!
I enjoyed their clam chowder and crab cakes. We ordered a few lobster rolls and unfortunately they did not taste good. Huge disappointment.
Great atmosphere. The bartender and waitress were very helpful. We let them give suggestions for the appetizer and the main course and we were not disappointed. The fish tacos and the tri-tip steak were excellent. The customer service was great and we would recommend this restaurant for everyone.
We had a wonderful dinner at Joe’s Waterfront! The harbor view was stunning, but what truly made the evening unforgettable was our waiter – the bald gentleman with the mustache (sadly I don’t remember his name). He was phenomenal: attentive, warm, and genuinely passionate about making our experience special. Honestly, he deserves a raise – staff like him make all the difference! We enjoyed the nachos, the lobster roll, the crab roll, and ended with the chocolate cake and ice cream – everything was fresh, flavourful, and perfectly prepared. The lobster roll in particular was one of the best we’ve ever had. Thanks to the excellent service and delicious food, Joe’s Waterfront has become a must-return spot for us. Highly recommended!
Awesome view! We requested outdoor seating by the water. The place was slammed so I’d recommend to make your reservations ahead of time. The steak bowl, Oyster’s & crab roll were fantastic will definitely come back next time we’re in Boston!
Beautiful setting right on the water. Great menu options, lots of variety but kept to a single page so it's not overwhelming. We shared the captains platter as a starter and that turned out to be a great choice. Not a single bite left. Additionally we had the rolls filled with beef, very crispy and an excellent flavor. Shrimp in the scampi were huge! Very affordable even for five.
The lobster roll was soooo good! I was able to substitute the fries for a side salad for no upcharge which was nice. I really enjoyed being able to sit outside and look at the harbor while we ate. The area nearby is also walkable and cute! Update: It was soo good I went back for. Dinner two days later and ordered the exact same thing! I sat at the bar and the bartenders were great!
Right on the water with nice outdoor and inside seating. Smallish menu but has something for everyone. Our party included 3 adults, 3 kids between 6-11 y.o. plus a 1 year old. All the staff were very nice and friendly. It wasn't advertised as a "family restaurant" but was very accommodating for us. North End park and playground right outside. Would go again.
We came here for Clam Chowder soup, taste is ok, should be better if put some more blue cheese to it so that to make the taste more favourable. Pan fried Salmon is really good 👍🏻
The food was excellent, the staff was friendly, and compared to other local restaurants, it was a few dollars cheaper. I was there specifically to get a lobster roll, and it was great.
I haven’t been here in 7 years and boy did I think about and try to recreate this salad. It was a bit diff but to be expected - still enjoyed everything.
I visited Joe's Waterfront on a work trip to Boston, and I can tell you, this restaurant has an exquisite variety of food. The customer service is spectacular, the food is fresh, and the drinks are very good. Nice place to eat and have fun.
Place comes highly recommended and you definately need reservations. Beautiful scenary with the boat docks. You can walk outside. I had the crabdip with toasted bread. It was full of real crab..not immitation. The fish and chips were really good. I'm cheap, but It was definately worth the higher prices.
Joe’s Waterfront, situated in a picturesque location by the water, was a fortunate find for us while strolling through the area. This restaurant offers a welcoming atmosphere that complements its scenic views, making it an ideal spot for a casual dining experience. Upon arrival, we were immediately drawn to the menu’s variety, deciding to try the Lobster Roll, Oysters Rockefeller, and a plate of regular oysters. While the Lobster Roll was somewhat underwhelming and didn’t quite meet our expectations, the oysters and the French Onion Soup more than made up for it. The Oysters Rockefeller were particularly impressive, perfectly cooked with a rich topping that enhanced their natural flavors. The regular oysters were fresh and succulent, served chilled and accompanied by a tangy mignonette sauce that highlighted their freshness. The French Onion Soup was another highlight, rich and savory with a generous topping of melted cheese that was thoroughly enjoyable. The service at Joe’s Waterfront stood out as well; the staff was attentive and efficient, ensuring our meals were served promptly and any additional requests were catered to with a smile. We also enjoyed a selection of beers, which were the perfect complement to our meal, offering a refreshing balance to the rich flavors of the food. Overall, Joe’s Waterfront provides a pleasant dining experience with its combination of good food, excellent service, and a relaxed, scenic setting. It’s a spot well worth visiting for anyone in the area looking for quality seafood, delicious soup, and a great drink selection, all at reasonable prices.
Just happened upon this place when the restaurant we planned on going to was a crazy long wait. We were seated immediately at a table with great views of the harbor. We had a lobster roll and the chowder, both were fantastic. The roll was packed with tons of yummy lobster, the roll itself was fresh and nicely toasted. The chowder was delicious; lots of clams and bacon, etc and the cream base had good flavor- definitely not bland. The bread bowl was super fresh and delicious. It was a great experience and I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a seafood meal in downtown.
Really nice dining experience! I found the prices remarkable reasonable given the water front location. David and I especially enjoyed the lobster topped nachos. The vegan bowl I had for my entree was well prepared and David loved his oyster selection. Everyone in our dining party enjoyed their meals as well. The service was a bit lacking but it was NYE too.
I was there on a Saturday for lunch. I live in Maine and came into Boston for the day to meet up with a good friend from out of town. We wandered around the North End and hadn’t really found what we were looking for. We made a plan to go to Boston Salt Loft, but the line was insane. We found ourselves standing outside of Joe’s Waterfront and the menu looked good so we went in. It ended up being the perfect experience. We got a table outside in the sun and were taken care of right away. My friend and I both ordered the tuna poke bowl and it was delicious. I ate every bite of it and the portion size was just right. I highly recommend Joe’s Waterfront if you want a good meal, good service, and a nice atmosphere. Prices were reasonable I thought too.
This review is for ABBY she was a great waitress. We came to Joes for lunch and there were more people than expected. Abby was very accommodating, fun, and helpful. The best waitress ever to serve us during our national conference.
Beautiful outdoor spot with stunning water views. Delicious food and great vibes make it perfect for family and friends. Highly recommended for a delightful hangout!
Went here for lunch with a big group and we sat in the corner looking out at the waterfront which was amazing. The staff were really nice and accommodating. They moved two tables together for us to help us fit a large party. However, the food was good not great. My favorite dish was the creamy clam chowder cup. They do not have hot buttered lobster rolls and the cold roll was very small for the price with few fries. The cessation salad was very salty and drenched in dressing. The nachos were delicious though.
We went on a Sunday and the restaurant was very busy. Even with a reservation, we had to wait about 15 minutes. As demand was high, delivery was quite slow and everything took time. the food is very good, the dishes are generous and the price is in line with other restaurants that follow the same style.
The restaurant sits right in the harbor — gorgeous water views. First night, I tried for dinner. They wanted me to sit at the bar because I was solo. No problem, except that there were no seats at the bar. I ended up finding somewhere else to go, and as I left one girl said, “have a good one” then giggled. Sadly, she knew there were no seats but didn’t want me taking up a table. On a whim, I ended up having brunch there my last day in town. Crab cakes benedict. Very expensive for only enough crab to make one good crab cake. I expected a more robust dish to be honest. The food was tasty and the coffee very good but the service was slow. They were kind at brunch but I don’t think I’d go back.
Awesome time. Great weather, tons of people around. Nice vibe. It’s fairly simple straight forward food, nothing fancy or gourmet. French onion soup was good, I had the shrimp scampi pasta….very good. Not gourmet or high end, but very good. My friend had a dinner salad, it was delicious. Menu is mostly burgers, ribs, salad and raw bar. Very enjoyable.
I ate outside here for dinner and overall had a pleasant experience. For an appetizer, we got the spinach and artichoke dip. While the dip was warm and delicious, the tortilla chips they gave us were definitely stale. For my entree, I ordered the Cure burger which was quite good. Definitely makes its way high up on my burger list. It was around this time we realized we were never given bread, which was definitely annoying. Overall a good time, but still a couple of misses on the restaurant's part.
Service was a little slow. The bartenders need to be more attentive instead of chatting with their colleagues. The Tuna was OK.
Atmosphere is fantastic. The view of the bay is serene. However, the price of the food far outweighs the scant portion sizes. I ordered the haddock, and my dad ordered the steak. My haddock and side of spinach were very small considering the price of $32. My dad’s steak, $48, was supposed to be cooked medium well, but it was cooked too well. Overall, the experience was a little disappointing.
The food at Joes’s was really good. I got the Lobster dinner and they did crack it for me since I am new to a whole lobster dinner. The whipped potatoes were good, and the broccoli was a nice side. The server we had was not great, we had all asked for a salad with our meal, she brought it with our meal instead of ahead of time. She didn’t check back much and was not attentive. Other servers around us were much better so maybe this one was new? The atmosphere was so great, we sat on the patio next to the harbor, so beautiful! I would’ve given 5 stars if the service had been better. But we were happy to get in as other places were over an hour wait on a Monday evening. This place was happy to accommodate us.
Nice restaurant. Food was tasty and plentiful. Could have done with a little more seasoning as my lobster didn’t have any. The soup was pretty tasteless and has a lot of bread for the size of the portion. Good location and value for money. Would recommend it for families and large groups as they seem to be able to cope quite well.
We had a great time with family celebrating, delicious food, spectacular views! The Crab dip was my favorite. Several ordered the salmon and enjoyed it. The captain’s platter was a hit as was the clam chowder. We also ordered a Reuben sandwich and Shrimp Scampi & Linguine. It was slammed the afternoon we visited, ran out of bread, but we had good service and enjoyed the time together.
The location is great for a harbor side meal. Our server Vidall was fantastic! We had the spinach dip appetizer which was the cheesiest I've ever had, very good choice! The captain's feast is just that...a feast! Definitely enough to share if you're not starving. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the garlic butter sauce was the ideal blend of flavors.
Amazing location at the water front and my favorite when landing in Boston - easy to park close and strawl over to the restaurant. The Tuna Tartar was amazing the Captains platter ok (did not really like the used frying dough and was too oily) We were tolerated to stay even after they closed at 10pm until 10.15pm, but not more than tolerated - being welcomed feels different, but hen again we already arrived really late.
Wanted a lobster roll and clamp chowder. Lobster was very good, well seasoned, meaty on a good roll. The chowder was pretty much meatless, have had much better clamp chowder around the city. Also had the beet and goat cheese salad that was very good. Everything pricey as expected for location and seafood. Ordered a spicy margaritas, bad idea, no spice and just bad margarita mix. Should have known better.
Food was mediocre and lukewarm (fish tacos and lobster roll) but the atmosphere was great and views of the coast gorgeous. The service was good and they serve warm bread to tie you over until your meal.
We had a lovely Boston evening at this beautiful location by the water on a warm evening. Had beer, buffalo chicken appetizer, fish tacos and salmon. The best was their onion soup. It was yum. The salmon was okay and the tacos were good. Overall a good location with very amazing servers. Had a good evening dinner.
The food was OK but nothing memorable. Bonus for perfectly balanced softness of egg Benedict. Minus for a very rushed service - for a Sunday brunch, it took less than 50 minutes from entering the place to getting the bill.
Absolute wonderful sangria! The Cesar salad was delicious, fish and chips were okay, the cookie skillet was great! Bar service was really good but once we moved to a table the waiter was horrible! I'd go back for a drink, probably not to dine again.
Restaurant is nicely located on the waterfront. Hostess was very attentive and even got us a table overlooking the harbor as we requested. Waitress was super nice! Food was not great. The clam chowder is NOT tasty. There was no flavor to it. I ordered a specialty drink, the hot toddy, which was horrible. I had to send it back as the smell was making me nauseous. The chili nachos we ordered as appetizer came out very late. It seemed like they forgot. when it did come it was not correct. The Waitress took it back but then a min later bought it back with a side bowl of warm chili. So we had to share out the chili ourselves. 2 minutes later our DINNER came out. We asked if we could have some time to finish our appetizer so they returned later with cold food 😔
The clam chowder was very delicious but what happened to the sizes?!? My bowl was a tad bigger than the cup my friends got. Not only this restaurant but sizes have deeply diminished…oh I remember when portions were generous. Brussels sprouts were spot on! Had crab cakes and burgers. Value for money is just not there. Service-waitress left menus on table the entire meal. Please note when you order fountain drinks carbonation is poor. Atmosphere saves the day can’t beat it. I would recommend basically apps and drinks.
I keep coming here hopping to like this place but I don’t. Last month I ordered a well done burger to go it was pink on the inside. Today I got the lump crab dish and it was an unseasoned mess. The glass I had my drink in was dirty with some sticky marshmallow stuff; that was my fault for not paying attention.
Totally disappointed with the sea food plater,,deep fry chunks of oily calamari, one scallop, 4 shrimps and maybe 3 tiny fish prices, that was served with oily French fries...Another turist trap that has nothing to do with quality food...
After a visit to the New England Aquarium, we were ready for a great meal. We walked in to a very empty restaurant. The hostess greeted us and asked if we had a reservation. We said no. It then took her five minutes to determine if there was a table. Again, it was at 1/3 capacity downstairs, at the most. Once she found a table, to our surprise we were led upstairs to a huge room with one table being served. We were seats and given menus. We observed, at least five wait staff come in and out and stare and walk away. After 15min a male waiter approached. He took our drink order…..10 minutes later we received the drinks. We ordered food right away when the drinks arrived. We saw two other groups come in, not be waited on so they left. A manager, pictured below, never talked to any customers. He moved tables around and moved chairs. Spent a lot of time watching tv as well. The food was ok. We appreciated not being an exception as all customers were ignored and treated poorly. I’d highly recommend not going. They take customers for granted.
We were a party and the server Emily B started off fine. Brought us our drinks and took our order. Never saw her again until 28 minutes later, about 10 min after the food arrived. The burger was served med rare, we asked for med well, the captains plate was overcooked. The shrimp was inedible. Ordered app as meals and came out too soon. Sauces weren’t served with dishes. Never got a refill, had to go to the bartender to get more to drink and saw server along with other staff joking and hanging out near the bar. At the time we were one of 2 tables Emily had. Atmosphere is fine.
The server she was friendly, Bit the food was awful and the wait time was awful too! They definitely need a new cook and the restaurant was nice for the outside but once we sat in the dining room was so dirty!!! I will not come back. poor experience! and also it’s was my daughter 18th birthday they didn’t offer a cake to her.. My kids father had the Waterfront Bouillabaisse it’s smell bad not fresh at all he couldn’t eat it.
