When people who work there come in on their day off, it’s a good spot. Great atmosphere, love the decor, friendly service, and while we didn’t sample the whole menu, what we did have was great. Excited to come back and try some of the other dishes!
This was a date night favorite! We had the best server! She was very knowledgeable on the restaurant and even the heritage! It was a great story telling that paired well with our drinks ✨! We chose dinner based on our server’s liking and we were not disappointed. Thank you Antonio for becoming a fav of ours! Please follow my food page for more recommendations @got_gourmet
I have walked by this establishment everyday to/from work for the past three weeks and always notice how busy it is on Friday night’s. Tonight I decided to stop and have drinks along with dinner after a very stressful work week. This place is truly a hidden gem. I started out with an espresso, martini and a “Snack” Deep Fried Olives with blue cheese. Delicious!! Next, I had an “Appetizer” Pork Belly with citrus marmalade. Not disappointed!! Another expresso martini and ordered Expresso rubbed salmon with arugula and maple glazed sweet potatoes for my main entree. One of the best salmon dishes I’ve ever had. I saved half of the meal so I could have dessert. Ordered tiramisu and another espresso martini. Excellent food and drinks. The atmosphere was very soothing, and a great way to unwind after a long week at work. Mary Beth, my server, was very attentive to my needs, and the bartender, the other staff, are constantly working as a team, to make sure their patrons were well taken care of. By far one of the best experiences, I’ve had so far in Boston area and highly recommend a couples night out, a solo dining experience, or coming as a group. I will definitely be back before I head out of town.
Antonio's Bacaro is an absolute gem. Nestled in on a busy Fairmont Street, this Italian restaurant is worth a visit. Fair prices for truly delicious food, set in an atmosphere that allows for conversation. The bar area has about 15 seats and there's indoor and outdoor tables. Parking is on street. Go. You'll be glad you did.
Thoroughly enjoyed my pasta dish. The appetizers were good, but a bit sparse. The burger, definitely a miss as the patty was like that of a frozen bubba burger. I guess that's what I get for ordering a burger at an Italian restaurant, haha.
Dine here on 3/25/23 as part of dine out Boston, this was my second time eating here and the food was just as good as it was the first time. The staff is lovely and attentive, gives off a real family vibe. We will definitely be dining here again
I love Italian food and I love finding new places that know how to do it right. everything was on point. space was big and airy. bread at the beginning of the meal could've been enough for me. with the oil and balsamic these people really get me.
Pleasant atmosphere and very kind and attentive staff. To start I ordered the arancini, which unfortunately didn't have any seasoning and the oil flavor was strong. The Burrata bruschetta was delicious, the best I've ever eaten. My main order was a Lonster Risotto, which unfortunately was also lacking in flavor and seasoning. I would go back again to try other dishes.
4.5 stars, would go again. Came for dinner for Dine Out Boston. Not too loud which I liked, but it was an early dinner. Food came quick and employees were pleasant. Parking is available in a lot right next to the restaurant. Street parking also available, but seems kind of stressful finding a spot in a busy neighborhood. The bread and oil/vinaigrette are good, as others have mentioned. I had the carbonara which was good, and was too full to eat more than a bite of the second course until work. Excuse the poor photo, it’s a much more filling portion than it appears. Eating microwaved filet mignon at work is kind of sad, so not sure if that’s part of it, but even when I tried it when it was still the day of, I’ve had better steak. Wasn’t wowed by it, but the polenta was surprisingly good. Slightly cheesy, very solid. The tiramisu was fine but not memorable? And yet I’ve never met a tiramisu I didn’t like.
This restaurant had spectacular food. The outdoor seating was also very cute and cozy, felt like we were transported to Italy.
Great atmosphere and wonderful service! My server, Emily, was great and very attentive. I enjoyed the Prosecco di Sonia and the Cacio e pepe which was delicious! Highly recommend! I will definitely be back!
Delicious meal as always! So happy to be able to eat here again in their cute outdoor patio.
Every visit is as perfect as the last great food drinks wine Joe goes all out making your experience as good as possible
This is such a gem in Hyde Park. Incredible restaurant with such authentic, delicious food and friendly service. Their patio is so warm and welcoming... especially with the heaters! Every meal I’ve had here has been great but the carbonara is my absolute favorite. The only place I’ll order it now. Great variety of snacks and appetizers on the menu that go great with a nice espresso martini. I visit here regularly and order takeout and have always been more than satisfied. Can’t recommend this place more.
Really sweet, cozy restaurant. Not too crowded or noisy. All the staff were very nice and helpful. Excellent menu selection, especially for a vegetarian. The food was delicious. And they had some custom cocktails that were quite tasty. For a small spot, it's big in atmosphere.
Very impressed with food and physical set up. Exciting look of new things coming to an old neighborhood, Hyde Park. Street parking is easy for dinner. Don't miss the ice cream made locally. Literally the best I've ever had, and I'm an original "Steve's" and JP Licks customer. But back to the food! Italian entrees all excellent Very knowledgeable and fun waitresses. Will be going back with the whole family. We have 3 birthdays coming up and this would be a great intimate party choice .
We’ve been here twice and had good experiences both times, but we just went for an early evening dinner with our toddler and our server Diana was beyond fantastic, especially with him. The food and staff here are wonderful! We really love the cacio e pepe pasta in particular. This place is one of our go-to spots. Highly recommend!
We got the Lobster Risotto , Espresso Salmon, and a kids pizza. The Salmon was FANTASTIC!!!!!! I have never tasted something so good and the maple Dijon glaze was a perfect combination to the dish. My bf had the Lobster Risotto. He tried something new and gave it a 10/10. I want to personally thank the staff as it was my bf bday and we got a lemon cake on the house. We will definitely be going back.
Great food and service! We live in Hyde Park and this is our local go to for high quality food. My husband loves their craft beers. We come here 1 to 2x a month. My favorite is the crispy duck followed by Chicken Milanese which has lots of lemon. I have tried various dishes and all consistently delicious. Appetizers and salads great too. Staff always friendly and helpful.
Expresso Salmon is to die for. The waitress helped me get my order together. I am soo glad she did. I was impressed
I’ve been here twice now and I can confidently say this place has excellent food. I have yet to try anything from here that isn’t great. Given their quality, it’s amazing that they aren’t more expensive. You can go to plenty of places with higher prices that don’t come near the quality of Antonio’s Bacaro. Service is good too, the place looks nice, it’s not too loud— truly no complaints at all. Try the pork belly appetizer.
So glad we expanded our search for more restaurants up to Hyde Park. This place was awesome. They are Italian but Venice-inspired, so each dish often has a bit of a twist. Great back patio, great atmosphere, great food, great service. We had the meatballs, swordfish risotto, espresso salmon, and glass of wine. Salmon was a very unique dish, I loved it. Staff was super friendly. Go check it out!
Out of town visitors. Food was excellent. Atmosphere and decor are delightful. Music is old R and B, Motown, blues, which added to a delightful repast. Our server, Ellen, was superb. She also offered us some tourism advice, and was just all around wonderful! Def recommend this restaurant, and Ellen!
I don’t usually write reviews but this restaurant blew my mind. Probably the best meal I’ve had of 2023, most likely even longer, and I travel and/or eat out regularly. I had the espresso salmon that was plated over arugula/sweet potatoes with two glasses of red wine. The bread was served with the best balsamic vinegar I’ve ever tasted and I’ve worked in Italian and fine dining restaurants. The prices were reasonable and the staff was very friendly. The owner was kind and accommodating from the moment I walked in to the moment I left, and you can tell it’s a neighborhood favorite for regulars. The staff all seemed to really get along too, and were hanging out at the bar after their shifts. I spent over 12 years in the restaurant industry and that kind of camaraderie is really great sign. At the end of my meal they asked me where I was from (Philly) and we joked about our sports rivalry, all in good fun. Excellent little gem in a small, cute and diverse neighborhood.
I've always wanted to try this restaurant but never had the time. So I made the time this week and it was well worth it. I went during restaurant week and all the courses were amazing. And I will be going back very soon
I love coming back to my hometown and supporting the local restaurants. This place and sister restaurant Sophia’s Grotto have always been my favorite. The food is always delicious. Definitely start with the Olives and Dates! The Espresso Martini made by Sean is perfect. Our server Marybeth was very polite and helpful. Can’t wait to come back soon!
This is the most wonderful place to dine. The food is top notch. I cannot say enough about the staff, the owner. Everyone makes you feel at home. Best place. If you haven’t been you ate missing out. A nust try.
Went there for a birthday, everything was great, the ambiance was good, the food excellent. We had the Espresso Salmon and the shot ribs risotto, ceasar salad, the plates were well portioned and tasty compliments to the chef! Having had authentic Italian food I know a thing or two. The only thing is that bothered me was the waitress, although nice, but I don't like it when every five minutes your asking if everything is okay, if things were not okay I would have called you . Let me enjoy my food and the company in peace. Other than that everything was superb. We definitely going back and recommending it to my friends.
I went with my wife on Valentine's Day 2024. It was really busy, seemed like everyone had dinner reservations at the same time, right after work on Valentine's Day, a weekday. Hostess seated us immediately. Our server politely explained that is was a very busy night so the kitchen was a little backed up. My wife and I ordered a bottle of red wine, which was served very fast. For apps we had Arancini and a proscuitto "Ciabatta Bacari" (pizza). Both apps were very good. I ordered the crispy duck, my wife ordered the filet mignon. My crispy duck was delicious. I tried a bite of a my wife's filet, also very good. The server was very attentive and refilled our waters often. We were warned the food was going to come out slow, but that was ok, we enjoyed the night. Some of the other customers were being really rude, I could hear them talking down to the other servers. I commend the other servers not being patient and not reacting badly. What's the rush? Do they realize that everyone literally sat down and ordered at the same time? It's Valentine's Day. Enjoy being out for the night. Order more drinks. The restaurant has a real cozy romantic feel to it. Overall it was a great. While the food took longer than usual (I have eaten here several times before), it was still a great meal and great night out.
This gem is literally up the street from me and I couldn't be happier. We drop in all the time and never get tired. The food and drinks are fantastic (love the Ragu) and they always great us with a warm smile and great conversation. I feel like I'm walking into a friend's spot to say hello. Highly recommend this place.
Called in for a last minute seating outdoors and hostess was very accommodating. The patio in the back was very nice. The menu has a variety of $5 appetizers including mini arachini balls which are a must try. For dinner I had the Chicken Milanese which was flavorful with just the right amount of spinach and mashed potatoes. Portions were generous-the leftovers tasted even better 2 days later. Looking forward to returning soon.
My first time there and will not be my last. We started off with a bottle of Chianti. I had the Genovese with grilled chicken and it was DELICIOUS!!! My mom had the grilled chicken with asparagus and mashed, she finished off the plate which she never does! For dessert, Chocolate Mousse Cake and that was delicious as well! Definitely recommend and will be back next time I’m in town. Thank you Mary Beth for great service. Thank you James W for inviting us to dinner.
The food is always delicious . The waitstaff are always courteous and attentive. One thing that is not a good point. The owner is not very outreaching to the patrons of color. I've been there enough to see a pattern. He will greet and be very social with all patrons except the patrons of color. This is concerning as people are choosing Antonio's Bacari because of the excellent food and ambience. It took awhile for me to comment on this as I will first observe patterns . I'm hoping this review can spurn some improvement .
First time coming here. We tried the chicken lasagna, pomodoro pasta, and had the chocolate cake for dessert. The pasta was a bit overcooked to what I prefer, but overall everything was tasty, and portion sizes were generous for the prices. Service was very good despite the restaurant being busy. Would definitely be willing to come back if we're ever in the area.
A Boston restaurant week find located in Hyde Park. Indoor and outdoor seating available. The menu for dine out was well portioned compared to other places which was great. The only thing I could probably do without is the dessert but that decision will be made upon my 2nd visit.
This place was great, the staff was super friendly, and they accommodated our big group on marathon weekend, which was awesome! Their food was delicious. I had the arincini to start. I wish it had more sauce with it or some sauce to dip it in. For my main meal, I had the genevese, which was a pesto pasta, and it was good. Worth stopping in!
Authentic, rustic Italian restaurant where the owner would greet you and you definitely feel welcomed. The bread with oil and balsamic were nice way to get it going. The apps were Outstanding. Truly outstanding. Unfortunately we have to knock a star off as my friend's risotto were too runny while our pastas (fett w beef & broc and bigoli cabonara) were not yet al dente. We were very full when we walked out into the breezy Hyde Park evening.
Love the atmosphere here. Half pizzas here are great! Would love the bar to develop some signature cocktails to match the atmosphere.
The food was good, the pinot noir was excellent, and the restaurant had a good vibe.
Good portions, good prices. Swordfish was great, but risotto was bland and not sure why it’s pink. Drinks were great and really good expresso martini. Very friendly staff. Relaxed neighborhood spot.
Easily the best restaurant in HP with a nice back patio. The food had some bright spots, but was uneven and the menu doesn't offer enough options. Good service
Tried this place for the first time last night. The service was good. However, the food and drinks were subpar. Two out of our 3 meals were sent back, and 2 out of 3 drinks were returned because they were not made right. They were very accommodating to our requests and actually two of our meals were complimentary. Maybe they were just having a bad night. We will try them again over the winter.
Started out well with the entree but then they burned the beef in the beef pappardelle. I told them and they didn't do anything. I came here because of their gmaps reputation - a reputation I now see is clearly undeserved.
So…place looks great! Cutesy little atmosphere. However, the food… The arancini were quite literally tasteless — and they were room temperature upon being served. The carbonara was honestly pretty tasty, and so was the fish. However, the steak…my mom asked for it pink, and it was served *raw.* The kitchen took it back and returned it to us almost grey. Additionally, the spinach and polenta cake that came with the steak were both nearly inedible - spinach was basically a salt pile. Our server was very sweet and comped the arancini and steak without us asking. Overall we were very disappointed in the food. 2 out of the 5 dishes we ordered were edible. We were shocked to see such favorable reviews. Unfortunately it seemed like the chef didn’t know what they were doing. We’d maybe go back for a drink at the bar and eat dinner somewhere else. Cheers.
Came in for a birthday dinner and asked for a Limoncino, a fried potatoes, and a fried scallops as a round of apps to start the meal. The drink and potatoes were fine, but we were served a plate of fried scallop feet accompanied by half of an actual scallop. After being served that, we didn’t trust the kitchen for an entree so we asked the server for the check and left.
We have had wonderful meals here since it opened. Today, we were more than disapponted - the cabonara was a dried pile of chewy pasta with zero flavor. The server was empathetic. We respectfully shared our disappointment with the proprietor, Joey, and he was apathetic. We drove away from there saying that with the cost of this disappointment and groceries, we can and will do better by cooking more at HOME.
Got take out from here, ordered the ragu it literally has no sauce at all it was just ground beef and plain pasta. The arancini was beyond bland. We also got the eggplant and it was so thick I have never been to an Italian restaurant and received super thick eggplant. It’s suppose to be thin and crispy.Very disappointed we spend $79 on this meal.
We are regulars here. Aug 1st 2025 was a disappointment. I have never had dry Carbonara here until tonight. We expressed this to the server who listened and said SORRY. This wasn't her fault. We tipped her well and will not be going back for a long time.
This place used to be an affordable option for good food outside of downtown Boston. Now, the food and drinks are just as expensive as you would find in the North End, but not as good. Tonight, the restaurant basically fell apart at the seams. We waited at least 90 minutes for our entrees while the wait staff apologized repeatedly and talked badly about the kitchen staff. My water glass was left empty for at least a half hour while we waited. The owner came over to our table to apologize, but he had clearly been drinking. They gave us a $25 gift certificate hoping we would give them another chance, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. We used to love this place. Very disappointed.
We ordered on the phone, and the person said it would be 40 mins. We arrived 45 mins later, and they said it would be another 20 mins and that they would give us a discount for the inconvenience. We waited and then went back in. My wife was grabbing the food and tried explaining to the person giving the food that they promised a discount for the wait. Instead, the waiter just walked away as my wife was explaining. It wasn't until another customer got mad that they came back and corrected their mistake. Then, to top it off, we get back, and the food is cold and bland.
