If the remote location of Brill isn't an issue, I highly recommend The Pointer for an overnight stay. Great people, excellent local food and cozy rooms. I've only stayed one night and was travelling for business, but there's beautiful nature around to enjoy if you have more time.

Celebrated my brothers big birthday at the Pointer tonight, the meal was outstanding in every way. Very tasty, beautifully presented and very hot. The staff were attentive and really engaging and the ambiance of this beautifull venue made for a great evening. Thank-you for a beautiful meal, we will be back.

Popped over the other day with my family and had such a delicious fish and chips! One of the best ones I have ever had, it’s a classic dish but you can tell a lot of effort went into it. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Absolutely delighted to be there! I spent a few days with a friend visiting from Sweden on his first trip to the UK, and we decided to stop by for an English breakfast. What an incredible experience! The atmosphere was beautiful — clean, peaceful, and very welcoming. The service was truly five-star, with a warm, professional, and impeccable attitude from every member of staff. We felt genuinely cared for. The food was absolutely outstanding — 10 out of 10! It was honestly the best English breakfast I’ve had in the 13 years I’ve been living in the UK. That says everything! I can’t recommend this place highly enough — it’s an absolute must-try. The prices were very reasonable for two people and excellent value for the quality provided. Beautiful atmosphere, amazing food, and wonderful people in a fantastic place. We’ll definitely be back!

Visited last night, an amazing little pub out in the sticks. Very friendly staff, the food was amazing. I would recommend the hot honey fired chicken burger, just make sure you are hungry as it is huge but delicious. It's worth the food coma afterwards. The menu is full of amazing choices. As a plus it's a dog friendly pub so there are small furry friends everywhere. Will definitely visit again if I am ever out this way again.

Had an amazing evening at The Pointer last night. We were worried we might be the only people there but it was packed with a lovely atmosphere, staff eating with their families, dogs in Christmas jumpers, it was perfect. We had the festive menu, if you haven't been yet order the pate, Ox cheek and festive trifle. The Hugo Spritzs were lovely and went down very easily. Many thanks for a wonderful festive evening.

A fantastic hidden gem of a local pub! For starters, we had the rarebit and crispy squid — both generous and absolutely delicious. There was a nice, relaxed pace between courses, and for mains we enjoyed the prawn & chorizo spaghetti and the fish cakes — both were faultless. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive, even when things got busy. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in the area!

Popped in for lunch as we were passing through and boy are we glad we did. The service and food were fantastic and ended up being the highlight of our day. There was a great selection of pub favourites with a few Gastro options on the menu for good measure; everything tasted fresh and prepared there and then. Have stuck a pin in it so we remember to pop back whenever we are next passing!

Just had an incredible meal that ticked all the boxes! The 10oz Sirloin Steak was perfect, and the Spaghetti Giardino had amazing taste and presentation. The team were super friendly, recommending dishes and checking in on us without being intrusive. Can't wait to come back for more of this great value for money experience! Highly recommend it!

This was an amazing pub/restaurant /hotel that definitely gets 5 stars from me. The hotel rooms above the pub are old world oak beams and quirky with a cozy vibe. The food in the restaurant was top notch. I had the boneless spicy chicken and the pictures say more than I ever could. Very tasty and fantastic quality. The green salad and cherry tomatoes were awesome (I don't usually finish a side salad!!)

I checked out this place for the first time and was seriously impressed! The crispy cauliflower bites and battered fish finger sandwich were absolute hits, – it was top-notch in taste and presentation. The service was spot on; the staff were super friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The atmosphere was just right for a nice meal too. I’m definitely excited to come back, especially if there’s a discount code or voucher on offer!

The Pointer has a lot of character and is a nice place to stay. The staff is oncrsdio friendly and works hard to provide great service. The bed was comfortable, even if the pillows weren't that good. The food is just fine. However, you can't beat the location! Overall, I would definitely recommend this spot to stay.

Just had a lovely meal here! While some menu items were unavailable, the food we did receive was top-notch. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and the service was spot on – the team greeted us warmly and even offered dessert to top off the meal. Looking forward to my next visit for the great ambiance and hopefully more choices on the menu! Highly recommend!

We had an absolutely fantastic NYE celebration and meal! From the buzzing atmosphere and friendly welcome to the brilliant live band and dancing, everything was spot on. The food was delicious and beautifully presented – the calamari and pork belly were particular highlights, and the staff were super attentive without being intrusive. It’s rare to have such great service during a lively night out. We’re definitely keen to return soon!

I recently stayed at a lovely venue and had an excellent experience throughout. The food was top-notch, from the bubble and squeak cake to the classic fish pie, all cooked perfectly. The breakfast was also a highlight of my stay, and the friendly service from the team really made a difference. I can't wait to return, hopefully with my dog next time! Highly recommend for a relaxing getaway.

We enjoyed a lovely one night stay at this rural pub when visiting nearby Oxford . The rooms were well appointed, with Bramley toiletries, robes and comfortable beds. We loved the big bath. Heating worked well and we had a quiet night's sleep. We had dinner in the pub which was very good - my husband had the gluten free burger and I had the beef roast. The beef was perfectly cooked, the veg was seasoned perfectly and the mustard Cali cheese was to die for. Best roast I've had in a long while. We enjoyed the venison starter which was a special and the deserts also did not disappoint. The staff were all very helpful and assisted with questions re allergies. We also had a lovely breakfast. The bacon and hash browns were particularly good. There were good gluten free options. We would definitely stay again!

I had a brilliant experience at this restaurant! The food was top-notch, especially the 10oz Sirloin Steak that was absolutely outstanding. Roxy, our server, really made the afternoon special. Everything was spot on, from the cleanliness to the speedy service. I can’t wait to come back for more of that delicious Artisan Flatbread and perhaps try dessert next time!

Stayed here over the weekend and really enjoyed it., food and drink were excellent! Service was even better with staff friendly and knowledgeable which was great! Room was nice and just what we needed after a long drive. Tucked away in a lovely little village, wonderful little place.

A family visit and our first time there. Super food - gammon was high quality and cooked perfectly. Fish pie was delicious and full of fish. Staff were very friendly and efficient. The atmosphere at the Pointer was lovely-lots of people having a happy time. We booked as we were in the area to visit Waddesdon Manor. Can highly recommend and we will return when we can.

A proper British pub, with excellent food and even better service. I had the best scotch egg as a starter that I've ever eaten, and the pork belly main was tender, delicious and had superb crackling. Highly recommended. How could this get better? The bar staff were awesome and made the evening one to remember with their professional, efficient and excellent service. Great banter.

We were recommended this restaurant when we were staying in Boarstall for a week. 5 mins away and recommend you make a booking as even on a Thursday evening at 6 we were extremely lucky to get a table. So glad we did, great atmosphere, lots of nil or low alcohol drinks for designated drover and the menu was delicious with great Gluten Free options for me too even desserts. Our waitress was Augustine who is definitely an asset to the establishment. She was friendly, knowledgeable and engaging. We would highly recommend this place and next time in the area will be making a reservation.

Ate there on a Monday afternoon, it's the perfect village gastro pub, the food is easy and well done the atmosphere relaxed the staff professional and the whole visit was a delight. I'd go as far as to say that it's worth moving to Brill for.

What a great experience here at the Pointer! Great environment with a great team that came together to create a memorable stay. I enjoyed the vibe here, the room was nice and clean, and the staff really go out of their way. Special nod to Charlotte, Youenn and Maggie, these are definitely the people you want in hospitality. Thanks again!

We had an amazing Sunday roast here. I had the Belly pork and my husband had the Roast beef. What an excellent meal. Succulent meat, beautifuly roasted potatoes and fresh vegetables. Yorkshire puddings were delicious and homemade. The service was excellent. Attentive not intrusive. Only sad thing was I’m too full for a desert!

We booked their Stay for Free deal when you spend £120 on food and get a free overnight stay. It’s such a lovely pub with super friendly staff. The food was outstanding (the fish pie is incredible) and the rooms just across the road are beautifully designed with comfy beds and gorgeous bathrooms. We had such a lovely stay. Thank you! Highly recommend.

Delicious Sunday Roast! We popped in to have dinner while vacationing in the area. The Sunday Roast didn’t disappoint. We got one beef, one pork and a couple of starters. Everything was delicious and our waitress was an absolute gem.

Lovely dog friendly inn with great staff We arrived in this quaint village in the middle of a sweltering heatwave to check in for one night. We were able to do some drinks in the beautiful shaded garden while waiting for the room to be ready. The room was immaculate. Everything you might need was present (tea and coffee making sets, a common fridge with two types of milk, hair dryer and even an ironing board, iron and steamer)! The puppy received a small bed and a water dish which was a nice touch. The shower pressure was excellent as well. The best part was that they had already set up a ventilator for us and made the room cool for us. That’s an attention to service that’s remarkable. We had a lovely dinner and left after breakfast. The staff were kind, friendly and very attentive. We were even able to store our puppy food with their refrigerator! Highly recommend to those travelling with dogs.

Had a lovely stay at The Pointer. The room was very clean and beautiful, the bathroom was gorgeous! Had a full separate tub, large shower, double sink. We stayed in the Kune Kune room and I’m pretty sure we had been upgraded as we had a super king bed and I had booked the cheapest double room that was available so that was lovely! The bed was very comfortable. There was a large stand up fan in the room which was a bonus as it was a warm day. The Pointer rooms are located across the road from The Pointer Pub which was nice as it meant it was nice and quiet. The location itself is a quiet quaint village but it being separate from the pub made it even an even calmer atmosphere! I stayed here with my partner for my birthday and would definitely do so again. Felt very luxurious.

The Pointer is amazing! The food is delicious, the portions are generous, the service was just brilliant - Miguel offered us lots of advice on the menu and also had a laugh and a joke with us which I love. My parents had just got married the evening before and stayed in one of the rooms at the Pointer (they said that was incredible too) and Miguel gave them a complimentary glass of champagne each. It was busy but that didn't impact service, it just created a lovely atmosphere. I can't wait to visit again and bring new friends and family!

This is our second time staying at The Pointer. The rooms are nice/great for the price but the food and service in the pub are knock out. Emily served us for dinner and she made our experience brilliant, she was attentive, fun and couldn’t do enough to help make our dinner feel really personal. The quality of the meat that comes from their on site butcher is incredible and the decor in the pub is lovely. We had a slight mix up with our bill when we checked out but the team handled it really well. Thank you!

Went here for a special birthday dinner the staff were lovely and inviting. Dinner was really nice and well presented. Both myself and someone with the same pudding choice were both a little disappointed with it but think that was more personal preference. Really nice atmosphere. Parking is a little difficult when busy, however I manged to park down the road okay.

We stayed here for a night B&B. Lovely room which was large, tastefully furnished, spotlessly clean and with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was excellent too. Breakfast was first class with plenty of choice and good sized portions. We will definitely stay again. Also top marks to Ewan who made us feel very welcome.

We stayed here after our wedding along with the rest of our wedding party. The staff was super helpful and allowed for an early check-in and also a late check-in. The breakfast in the morning with super tasty and good value for money. The rooms are really beautiful. Thank you so much.

4 of us had lunch here a couple of weeks ago . The food was excellent and the service matched. One of our group had a health issue and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and understanding. Cannot praise them enough.

This is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed! Travelling with work I am often travelling alone - the team here were so friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious ! Rooms are quaint and have everything you need - comfy bed and room was spacious. Breakfast did not disappoint either. The village itself is beautiful - looking forward to returning !

We dined at the Pointer with some friends a week ago to celebrate a birthday. Whilst not the first time we had visited, it was the first time we had eaten there since Oakman took over the management responsibilities a few years ago. Without exception the food was excellent, the pub staples of burgers went down very well with our friends as did the more “gastro focused dishes” especially the venison. Couple this with great service from all of the team, especially Roxy who looked after us in the restaurant: it was a great evening. Highly recommended.

Went to the Pointer for the first time between Christmas and new year, Fantastic countryside pub in a lovely little English village. The pubs inviting and cosy interior is met with welcoming staff, a well varied menu with food that is high quality and very tasty. I had the pork belly and must say its the best Ive had. Looking forward to trying a Sunday roast soon.

Great pub - drink, food, service & atmosphere all top notch. One star down on location as unfortunately for the Pointer, in the same village is the Pheasant. Otherwise, highly recommend

Great food, great atmosphere only issue we had was ordered a meal without gravy and it appeared covered in gravy. This was very quickly sorted out with no issues. Highly recommend and will return

Came in for lunch on Saturday afternoon. Very nice barman greeted us, we sat outside so ordered at the bar. Delicious chicken karaage from the specials menu, sirloin steak also very nice. Quite a few wasps in the garden, apparently there's a nest in the church roof over the road but they had traps up. Perhaps worth investing in some fly fans for the tables just to keep them away from food and drinks. Very nice country pub.

A great village pub with good food. Very friendly staff with a special shout to Bruno who made us feel at home from the moment we walked in. We only tried the burger which was delicious, wish we had tried the roast on Sunday as that also looked very good.

This is a very cosy cottage feel. Rooms look traditionally English so gives you the feeling it’s medieval times. People are extremely welcoming and friendly. Food is also great. On the hindsight, getting there and around can be a huge disadvantage if you’re not driving. I truly enjoyed my stay there and I would highly recommend if you’re there for the first time. A lot of beautiful houses around and the traditional phone booth.

Sunday late afternoon, we walked around the village and popped in for dinner. Unexpectedly many local people were enjoying this pup atmosphere 😀 Dogs are welcome and Sunday roast was really good. Definitely I will go back! High recommend

My brother in his wisdom bout me a voucher for £150 as a Christmas present in 2023 as he lives in the US. He didn’t give me this voucher until Christmas this year in 2024. Unfortunately the voucher was only valid for a year so expired on 22/12/24. I full understand that it had expired but I phone the restaurant on the 8/1/25 so two weeks later to see if they could extend it. I spoke to a very lovely women who checked with her manager. Unfortunately she said that if we had called nearer the expiry they could extended. But now they couldn’t. Recognise it’s expired just don’t believe this is great service. As it’s expired by 14days. Wouldn’t recommend a voucher here

We were a party of 11. A member of staff took our orders but was unable to set up individual billing for us. Other eateries are able to do this without an issue. At the end of the evening when we wanted to pay, we had to go to the bar area where someone else took payment, which would have been fine if we had had individual bills as requested. There were items ordered that people forgot about but needed to be paid for, so if the person who had taken the order had delt with payment we would not have had any issues. Parking was also an issue ....no carport, had to park on the street and no spaces available. It is not somewhere I would recommend for large groups of people/friends who want individual billing.

I booked on a Sunday evening specifically because I wanted a steak dinner with my partner the night before my PhD graduation. When we got there, I ordered an IPA on the menu, only to be told they didn't sell it, so I ordered the only other IPA and was told they didn't have that either. I asked if they had any bottles and they did, aparently when they said they didn't have it, they just meant "on draught"? They then listed off a whole host of menu items, including the Sunday roast and most of the specials, which were unavailable or only had one left. Steak wasn't included, so I ordered one, only to be told that both the rump and sirloin had also run out. I had to order a burger, which I didn't want, just to eat something. When I asked for BBQ sauce with the burger, they didn't have that either! The food itself was pretty good, but at every single turn we were ordering things off of the menu and being denied, and it was very disappointing considering we sought out a reputable location, drove out of our way, and didn't get what we wanted. Don't visit if you want something specific, even if it's on their menu.
