The food was great, but the atmosphere is the best. The menu is for those that never been here before. Basically you tell them what you are in the mood for and they can make it. And when it's time to pay, yeah, they just tell you. There's no bill. I think this guy was the owner or manager, but the nicest person that could be. We talked about the old people that worked there. They didn't rush you out the door once we finished eating. It's meant for big parties or families to get together and just talk. We will definitely come back.

Best Chicken Parm I've had on Arthur Ave and I've eaten at all the main restaurants on the strip. Staff was very quick and polite. The pricing was also reasonable. Will most definitely return.

We went the Saturday before Christmas. The wait required patience but the people watching sustained us. Great food. Nice bottle of wine. Authentic Italian-American atmosphere. So festive.

Great food....if you like boneless chicken scarpiello ask for the Chinese Chicken...!! Very busy place so leave plenty of time.

We felt like we were being welcomed home when we arrived! The food was incredible and the service was top tier. The fried calamari is delicious and everything that came to our table was authentic, clearly made with love and perfect presentation. Whether you're on a romantic date or bringing the whole family, you won't be disappointed.

Brought my out-of town cousins to Dominick's for late lunch on a Sunday. Very good anti-pasto & fried calamari to share. Deborah and I had ravioli good, but was a little over cooked. Tom had the meatballs I had a taste and didn't care for it. The bread was excellent. Service is always prompt and polite. Oh and now they have menus.

V
Vadim Nobel

The guy at the front door is super friendly, and that makes the place 5☆. Bread is awesome. Food is average. The atmosphere is a bit loud, but you might be lucky to get a quiet spot if it's not too busy. CASH ONLY.

Exactly what you'd expect and want in an Arthur avenue experience. Simple, classic Italian cuisine done very well. Particularly enjoyed the chicken marsala and eggplant rollatini (Sunday special). The Chicken Parm is a classic and was solid as well. Prices are very fair, especially in a day were everything costs more. We were checked in on regularly to ensure we had everything we needed and never felt rushed, contrary to many restaurants nowadays. Old school in every sense of the term.

C
Christopher Zaleski

Family style restaurant with a different Sunday menu. I only come on the days that have a non-Sunday menu. Love the shrimp, oregano, pork chops with vinegar, peppers, chicken, Scorpio, and more.

Went here a few years back while on vacation in NYC. What a terrific experience. Being from the south, the communal tables felt right at home, and when the waiter came and discussed the menu for that evening....wow again. The food was absolutely unbelievable. The service, excellent in every respect. The price for six of us? $110!! The owner came over afterwards, and after hearing we were from near Myrtle Beach, shared his golf vacation memories there. So family oriented and genuinely friendly. Even gifted us their famous marinara sauce upon departure. What a wonderful evening, and truly memorable supper in Little Italy. Thank You to the staff of Dominick’s!

Awesome food! My favorite is the cold antipasto salad and linguini in marinara sauce with shrimp and calamari. Then you can mop up the delicious sauce with fresh bread. Don’t forget that it’s cash only. I first went to the restaurant when I attended Fordham University in 1986 and I keep coming back every year. It’s our families favorite restaurant.

I came here for a work meeting and loved it! Food was awesome. I ordered the Veal Piccata and it was top notch. The server was very good as well. The ambience was very old school however, i loved it. I would definitely stop by again when i get a chance.

Even having to share tables, the whole experience is highly recommended. You're greeted warmly, service was quick and accurate. We ordered fried calamari, which was phenomenal. The chicken Parm was delicious and the pork pizziol melted in your mouth.

A must place to go...food absolutely great. A great experience too. Unique in how they take your order. Food is prepared quickly. This restaurant is best for a large group 4 or more of people who love Italian food. Expect to be at a long table with others but they will respect you or if you want to talk about that great food, I'm sure they will too. Laid back atmosphere but servers are incredibly attentive. Simply great.

M

My favorite place to eat. Don't be intimidated by the lack of menu and shared tables. Just go! Get an antipasto, stuffed artichoke, baked clams and any recommended entree and you will not go wrong. Their seafood platter is the most incredible dish I have had. It's huge and can be shared.

In a traditional Italian-American neighborhood (called Arthur Avenue) near Fordham University and The Bronx Zoo in The Bronx, NY, is an old school Italian restaurant that serves from a menu that is only proudly recited by the waiters, often with delightfully wry Bronx humor. There will be an array of chef's choices offered as specials -- but of course if you have a favorite meal, you can always ask. The wine is served in unpretentious little wine glasses and you or your group may be seated on one of two floors at long tables. On busy days, the din of multi-generational groups (it's kid noises friendly), tourists and neighbors lends it a sparky, lively, cafe atmosphere where everyone seems to have a smile for the groups at the next tables. If you prefer a quieter or romantic outing, try to stop by on a weekday or when weather is colder. (Over 30 years, I have occasionally seen lines running out the door and up the block on weekends, since many urban insiders know it's well worth it. ) Three of us spent $150 for everything (wine) but dessert. We ordered appetizers to chow on with the bread that's brought to the table and a simple leafy green salad. Entrees included perfectly tender calimari in a marinara, plump meatballs and fresh linguine and a somewhat complex bolognese sauce on pasta -- and all in generous portions. (Be sure to bring cash). After dinner at Dominick's, you'll want to stop by Gino's Bakery to stock up on everything from sesame almond biscotti to layered pastries that are inscribed in frosting on the top -- 'Chaz'. This is one of the pastries that has been a favorite of Gino's most famous (almost most famous?) customers, Chaz Palmieri, and several are often reserved for his visit later in the afternoon. We ran into Mr. Palmieri, screenwriter (A Bronx Tale) and actor, at the dizzyingly abundant green market across the street. We didn't want to bother him, but snapped a quick photo. Every visit to Arthur Avenue is an adventure of a new kind (we often get fresh pasta or a crusty fresh-baked bread, mascarpone and fennel -- or we'll pick out gifts that might include imported Italian sausages, prosciutto and cheeses.) This is a daytrip that still offers an authentic New York neighborhood experience that will make your heart sing. Oh, street parking, as you might guess, is in demand but we have always found a spot so far, some days closer than others. Be sure to bring cash.

If I was on death row I’d come here for my last meal. The eggplant rollatini was so good. We also had cavatelli with meat sauce. I would eat it everyday if I could. The service was incredible and I loved the family style seating, everybody was so fun and friendly. Eating here feels like stepping into a movie and playing an extra. You are not the main character here. It’s so much fun.

This is a great family style Italian restaurant. Nothing fancy or flashy here. Just delicious home style meals bursting with flavour. We loved our meal. It didn't hurt that the servings were huge and the prices were reasonable. I highly recommend this place.

You sit at long tables and other will either be seated next to you or nearby. However, the food is off the charts. Stuffed peppers the size of softballs and delicious!!!! Highly recommend!

The best Italian restaurant in the United States. Cash only. Tell the waiter you want to order "old school" and ask him what you should have. Just let him bring you food. Dont complicate it with a menu. Relax and eat as though this is what life is supposed to feel like. Family style. Respect.

This place is an institution of higher dinning. No menus, just talk to the man, tell what you like, and ba- da-bing, there it is. My favorite is the veal roast with hot peppers. Just so you know, the men's room, that 2 stories up.

Dominic’s was my default go-to when visiting New York’s uptown Little Italy, a tradition I kept at least once a year. Their restaurant offers the best food, made with the freshest ingredients, paired with superior service and fair pricing. I recommend skipping the menu and asking the waiter for their recommendations or specials. You will be pleasantly surprised.

This is the family-style NYC dining experience that you dream about. Visiting Dominick’s is honestly like being with your family. They really get you. Their servers, like the dishes they serve, have been a constant over decades. I’ve truly never seen this level of longevity anywhere else in the restaurant industry. The dishes and service impress every visit. The vibe isn’t pretentious at all which is refreshing. Wear what you’re comfortable in and prepare yourself to feast. It’s worth it to hit the ATM hard in advance. Hands down the best food around. They’ll never ever let you down. Oh and for parking, there’s a nearby lot that’s $2.25 an hour. Super affordable and you can pay via ParkMobile (lot 223527). Finding a spot has never been a challenge.

W

Very old school. Nice to see they still exist. Place was jammed to the gills. All locals. No tourists ( except us from CT). I was a bit reticent to go. The last time I went to Arthur Ave was about 4 years ago, when I went to Mario's. I found it Meh! However, we keep on steadily losing Italian places in CT, and I decided to give the Bronx another go--especially after watching several youtubes about the "real Little Italy of New York." Fortunately, I was not disappointed. The food was great. The meat portions are enormous and the pasta dishes tend to be on the small side. I am definitely coming back to work through the rest of the menu before venturing out to explore therest of the little universe called Arthur Avenue.

C

A gem in the famed Arthur Avenue (Bronx’s Little Italy), the Italian fare at Dominick’s is authentic. We always go with the antipasti for starters, a heaping serving of salad, assorted meats, cheese, olives, tomatoes. Then we go for our favorite pasta with either shrimp or clams in white sauce. And of course the roast pork chops with cabbage. You will always take some food home and they still taste good even after several heatings. Note: this is a cash only, no menu restaurant. Ask your server and for sure you will not go wrong with any of the options given.

Wonderful family style Italian restaurant. I had the Veal Francese which was exquisite. We also ordered good old fashioned linguine with meatballs, house salad, and stuffed clams. All simply divine. Service was friendly and attentive. Only disappointment was that they ran out of chicken parm and linguine with clam sauce. Otherwise, a delightful meal. Cash only.

I went to Dominick’s with my husband for his birthday and we were greeted with such love. It truly felt like home. The environment was so welcoming and the food was amazing. The Owner Charlie made it his business to greet us upon arrival and check in on us throughout the time we were there. The owner And the servers were so kind to my son and even gave him fist pumps and hugs when we were leaving. It was my husbands birthday and although They don’t serve desert, they came out to sing happy birthday with a meatball and a candle. They a truly a gem! I cannot wait to go back! I had the most amazing time. Strangers felt like my family and it’s amazing. Shout outs to them for the environment they created and the wonderful food!

The food here is amazing. I had the chicken scarpariello and I am still thinking about it. Sweet and attentive Italian waitstaff with owner at the door to greet folks. Feels like a truly neighborhood destination. Seating is crowded, but adds to the feel. People loving food together. We got seats without a wait at 6pm, but were the last table. Highly recommend!

We were visiting Arthur Avenue (12-11-2025) in the Bronx and were deciding where to eat. We went to Dominick's Restaurant on 2335 Arthur Ave. We were told cash only "a little surprised" no credit cards. We left got cash and returned. We were glad we did--the staff and the owner (Charlie) were not only professional and cheerful--all workers seemed happy to work at the restaurant and the food was exceptional. We will be back.

My father took me here 50 years ago. They wrote the menu on a paper bag and hung it on the wall. They have a menu now for those who need it. Great southern Italian food at reasonable prices. They use san marzano tomatoes and extra virgin olive oil which are the highest quality ingredients. I highly recommend a visit.

“I have eaten as much as I can, not as much as I want to, but as much as I can.” Per a son on the verge of summer break at Dominick’s Italian on Arthur Street, Bronx. The mussels starter with tomatoes sauce was outstanding. Omg. I usually only eat mussels with butter and garlic but I am converted! Ossobuco, Roast Pork and Cabbage, and Lamb Chops were truly excellent. The steak was declared very good (and fully consumed). The potatoes with the steak were fine but not life changing. This might be because the dishes were on the upper range of perfectly salty. By contrast the potatoes were not salted. One sits family style, sharing tables for 8 (or 12) with other patrons. On a gentler day we might have made some new friends, but we came hungry and impatient today. We love this style of eating, and have been here before. Highly recommended!

Miss visiting Arthur Ave and totally enjoyed my trip to Dominicks tonight. Amazing food. Had the stuffed artichoke and the baked clams for appetizers and the chicken parm with ling with garlic and oil while my wife had penne a la vodka. Service was amazing. Good seeing Charlie running to ship as good as always. Bartender and the waiters all were superb. We were given delicious expresso martini's for our 31st Anniversary. I highly reccomend Dominicks and we will be back very soon.

Super down-to-earth Italian restaurant with lot of pastas and veggies on the menu. The pasta was great, you could see some imperfections on each noodle, so I assume it was fresh! My favorite dish though was definitely the broccoli. It was cooked to perfection and tasted incredible with the garlic sauce.

I was here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon; it was my first visit to Arthur Avenue. The calamari was perfectly fried, the pastas done nicely and the osso bucco special was delicious. The ambience is nice and old school. The waiters were knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. I want to come here every Sunday!

July 2023: Enjoyed a delicious dinner. My friend has been going here for years and shared one of his favorite restaurants with us. We started with a cold anti pasta plate. Really a tasty dish with meat, cheese, olives 🫒, lettuce. Paired very nicely with bread 🍞. By the way, the bread 🍞 was tasty 😋. Then we had broccoli rabe with sausage and linguine. This was a tasty pasta with lots of garlic. Then we had a seafood stew with a side of pasta and red sauce. Lots of seafood: tile fish, calamari, lobster, shrimp, mussels. Muy delicioso. Then we had the chicken scarpariello. This chicken was super delicious! I wish I could make this at home. Wonderful blend of spiciness and acidicness. Like the poppadew peppers! We really had a great dinner. Looking forward to coming back again for more delicious food!

Can’t say enough about this charming old school Italian bistro perfect for family dining. I picked this place because the review I read said “it’s more like a neighborhood food hall. Long tables & the waiters verbally provide the menu.” This is my style. I wasn’t disappointed. Easy to get a table for one and I was pampered and showered with love & attention from the busboy, waiter, bartender and owner. The food was quick and AMAZING! Authentic and fresh. The bread was delicious and with the evoo , chef’s kisses. House wine was great & I got out of there for a mere $45. Cash only.

Amazing food at an amazing establishment. I recently celebrated a birthday here and we had about 20 people attend. The restaurant was great, they put us on the 2nd floor away from everyone else and closed us off to the rest of the patrons for privacy. The food was amazing, hands down 5 stars across the board for food and service. The owner Charlie is a great guy for trying to get the people back to some form of normalcy by getting people to eat inside the restaurant versus outside. 👍🇮🇹

Dominick's brings a certain sense of comfort with its atmosphere. The first and second floor were both small and cozy, giving a similar feel to being at someone's house. The service was excellent. They were attentive, friendly, and speedy. The food was fairly mixed in terms of flavor. While the Chicken Scarpariello and Osso Bucco special were some of the best I've ever had, I also tried 2 "Ziti" dishes which did not use Ziti. Both were served with obviously store bought Penne pasta which is not the quality I would've expected at a place this well-regarded. And worst of all the Steak, being one of the nastiest restaurant Steaks I've ever tasted. While I ordered a medium rare Steak it came out severely undercooked and had no flavor. When I asked for them to cook it more it came back well-done while looking and tasting like it was microwaved. For a $40 Steak I assumed it would be better. Overall Dominick's earns itself a 3.5/5 stars.

True old school Italian, I guess. No menus, so you don't know the prices, but to be fair they weren't bad. The server just tells you what the kitchen is preparing and you can order. Large portions, and great flavors. Service was great, food was great, dinged a star just for the fact that I couldn't see or read about what I was ordering.

V

Good place with an old fashioned vibe. Surprisingly, we didn't have to wait that long to get a table. The food was very good. Fried Calamari nice and tender. Stuffed Artichoke was loaded with breadcrumbs and garlic 👍👍👍 Main course was just as good. Broiled Filet of Sole, Chicken Rollatina and Fettuccine Alfredo. All portions were plentiful. Service on the other hand could have been better. Who knows, maybe our server was just having a bad night. Dominics on Arthur Avenue is still worth the trip.

We went early on a Saturday and were sat right away. The service was good, house wine was above average, but the stuffed artichoke was a disappointment. Mushy and just tasted like soggy breadcrumbs. The main courses were good but they forgot a side dish and we don’t know if we were charged because they don’t give you an actual bill. I also thought the marinara sauce tasted like jarred sauce.

E
Emma Flaherty

This was probably the best lasagna I’ve ever had. The dining experience was certainly not what I expected. There were no printed menus — the waiter just listed our options. It’s a cash only restaurant and the bill was a bit of a shock. It would be nice if you could see prices when ordering.

The vibe of this restaurant is really cute, old school and authentic Italian. Everyone is seated together in long picnic style tables. There are no physical menus or checks. The stuffed artichoke was very average, could definitely use a bit of flavor, but the baked ziti was delicious.

Dominick's is an iconic Italian restaurant. Located on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. Long tables which are good for groups. You can order family style or individual plates. No menu, they just tell you what they have. No fish on Sunday's. Chicken Scarpiello, sausage, and meatballs are highly recommended. Ziti, Lasagna, and Cavatelli are great pastas. Moderately clean facilities. Public Restrooms are upstairs. Staff is good. CASH ONLY!!!! We will definitely be going back.

Food and service were exactly what you want them to be. My only quibble is the $14 small glass of red table wine. The chicken sorrentina was incredibly good.

Crowd favs are the fettuccini alfredo and baked ziti. Front of house will bullhorn offered daily options or you can go to back of restaurant to view the entrees posted on wall. Extremely bright with cafeteria-style communal bench seating. Definitely a night to engage.

Cozy family style restaurant serving authentic southern Italian cuisine. Started in 1962, this place is where people come from near and far, the owner Charlie greets all customers warmly with a pleasant smile! If you are looking for a family style comfort food experience this is your go to place!

A friend had recommended this place and so we tried it. It’s definitely a no-frills kind of environment so you definitely don’t go for the service. They are very fast and efficient but it feels more of an effort to flip the table. We sat downstairs, but there’s also a large area upstairs that had seating and was a lot quieter. The dishes are HUGE and 2-3 people could split a main dish with the portion sizes. The chicken Parmesan hit the spot and I’d come back for that alone. We also tried the stuffed artichoke, but it wasn’t great.

Went for lunch and sat out side. Service was fast to get us seated and get our orders in. Fried calamari (friday only) was really good. Thick cut and nicely battered and fried. linguine and clams was okay. Chicken parm was okay. Servings were plentiful for two people and well priced. Typical red sauce Italian spot, simple and rustic.

Stuffed artichoke is okay. The veal piccata was fairly bland. Baked clams were great. Pork chop and hot peppers were fantastic. Side of meatballs also came with a side of hair in them. They did apologize and of course removed them from the bill. I won’t return.

Huge dishes. While downstairs looks fun, non locals are sent to the quiet yet somewhat gloomy upstairs, couldn't help feeling we were treated as tourists, with check balance provided only verbally and when we asked for the tab we discovered some dishes were increased to "double" without disclosing this when ordered.

Cash only! Sundays no white sauce?! Ambiance (4/5): We came in around 5pm on a Sunday and was surprised that the first floor was about a third full. The bathrooms are located up the stairs and the whole establishment is huge! Service (4/5): There are plenty of wait staff to table ratio so service is very attentive and quick. The only time is when they have their backs to you while they are conversing with each other! Food (2/5): I found the food extremely underwhelming and overpriced for what we got. Stuffed clams: All the other tables were ordering it so we followed the suit. The clams were not washed out enough and had sand in 2 of the 3 that I ate. Additionally, it was overcooked that it was a bit hard to chew. The actual meat sizes were large! Chicken Marsala: Way too much wine in the sauce. However the chicken pieces were very tender. Mushrooms soaked the sauce. Rivoli: The pieces were gigantic. However, I’m not a fan of their red sauce, which is very tomato forward and not very thick, and too sour for my taste. Veal scarpariello: wow the veal was so incredibly tender! Only a few thin slices and a slice of eggplant that almost looked like veal.

We hadn’t been to Dominick’s in years, so we decided to return for a good old-fashioned Italian family-style meal. We had to run to the ATM since this is a cash only restaurant. The servers were very nice and helpful with suggestions. To start, we ordered two portions of calamari, stuffed artichokes, Italian bread, and a few cocktails. The calamari was bland, and the bread was cold, but the stuffed artichokes and cocktails were spot on. The fettuccine was also very bland I didn’t care for it at all but my wife and the rest of the group loved it. The baked ziti, chicken parm, and meatballs, on the other hand, were big hits. Overall, it was a mixed experience, and we probably won’t be back for another 25 years. There are a lot of other great Italian restaurants in the Bronx worth revisiting!

Can only give two stars because we didn’t get a chance to order. Wont give one because Im sure the food is delicious. Came in to a half full dining room, so thought we got lucky after hearing so many good reviews about food and service. We had our son with us and was told there were no high chairs, that was okay - he was asleep and we’d figure it out. So we sit and wait, look over the menu, wait some more. We start looking around, see some of the wait staff walking up to the bar to talk. A few more minutes go by, our orders still arent taken. Another patron, clearly a regular, walks in. He’s seated immediately. Within five minutes he has bread, a drink, and a salad all prepared and in front of him. We are still sitting right across from him with only our drinks, still waiting to place our order. Finally someone notices us, and tells us theres no more linguini. That was pretty much it for me, and we left. If you plan to make your patrons wait the least you can do is let them know an item isn’t available. And clearly putting what would have been well paying patrons to the side so a regular can get his salad is so off putting. We ended up going to Enzos, and had one of the best meals we’ve had in awhile.

Came to Bronx’s Little Italy with friends, looking for good food, and wound up here. The food was pretty mid, under seasoned, and their bread was stale. Area was very cramped and the people behind us kept accidentally moving their chairs into us. Tried to order the chicken and potatoes, and they didn’t get it. Apparently they didn’t have any potatoes, but forgot to tell us and had us waiting on it. Overall, it’s overrated.

Not the Dominick’s I remember. We went on a Friday afternoon after Christmas. Tables are tight with family style seating and waiters were friendly. The food came out very quickly and was just ok. They don’t serve pizza so we got the kids pasta and meatballs, which they didn’t love. My chicken scarpellio was a let down. There was no sausage, potatoes or peppers, Just chicken in a sause. Overall, I was not thrilled with our experience and will be trying a new place. I really wanted this to be better!

The service was horrible, and we were given 1 menu for a party of 4. We were misled by the waiter on the menu items. Overall, it was a bad experience. I would not go back and would not recommend to anyone.

We were super excited to try this place since it was recommended by a friend who grew up in the Bronx, but it was such a disappointment. First, the tables on the first level are crammed together and the waiter kept bumping into me to try to navigate the layout. Not a huge deal at all, it’s New York. We felt incredibly rushed. The waitstaff was busy and running around, no time to really spend with the customers, although they were so friendly as we were leaving. From the time we ordered the food until it was served, it was about 10mins max. The food was subpar. We ordered the chicken parm and linguine and clams. We also got a chicken cutlet for our son. No flavor. No love was put into the meal. Not our kinda place, but doesn’t mean it’s not someone else’s.

Entirely non-competative for an Italian restaurant in 'Little Italy' of the Bronx. First time here on a recommendation by a cousin of the staff. Service was mediocre at best. Not a smile or polite word. Our service was paced well behind others that arrived after us. By 6:00 PM, they were out of several Italian basics like lasagna, chicken caccatore...and even chicken parmigiano. I've had better at pizza restaurants in Jersey. Don't bother.

This was the worst Italian food the 11 of us ever had. The veal piccata didn’t taste so fresh and there were NO capers. The vodka sauce kind of resembled vodka sauce. The chicken parm was very average. The stuffed artichoke tasted ok, but it came with some saucy breadcrumb sauce, which I’ve never seen before. The pasta with meat sauce was ok. I’ve had Chicken Scarpariello many times. It’s usually beautifully browned crispy chicken pieces. This was like boiled chicken with some sauce thrown on it. The service was good. Even the Shirley Temple tasted strange.

DONT GO HERE. I have no clue how this place has 4 stars. Entrees were mid at best. Meatballs were dried out and sausage was frozen. Go to full moon pizza across the street instead

Very mediocre and our experience on a Saturday evening did not mirror the 4+ star reviews. Meat sauce was awful and pasta was undercooked. Chicken Picatta was too bland and Chicken Scaloppini was too spicy. My wife’s linguini with shrimp and calamari was very good so there was one bright choice. Service was average to above average, but they jam you in as our table of 4 was butted together with another. Also table next to us brought screaming kids which only added to the poor experience.

Went there with a group and we were shocked at the low quality of much of the food. The high reviews below are really strange.

Painfully mediocre food, $16 for a basic house salad? You’ll have a much better experience going to Olive Garden. No menus so prices are basically made up when they write the check…

Disappointing Experience at Dominick’s Restaurant Our party of eight (four adults, four children) had high hopes for an authentic Italian meal, but Dominick’s fell short in nearly every way. The meal started with decent bread and low-quality olive oil. We ordered two servings of baked clams ($25 each), but one clam was rotten, nearly making me sick. The fried calamari ($21 each) was bland, lacking seasoning and crispiness, with a marinara sauce that tasted processed. The ziti with broccoli rabe and sausage ($24) was flavorless, seemingly thrown together without care. The sausage resembled canned Vienna sausages—unappetizing and unworthy of an Italian restaurant. The veal parmigiana ($23) was the best dish of the night, but that’s not saying much. It was edible, though the linguine served with it was bland. The linguine with meatballs ($22) was so bad that even the kids wouldn’t eat it. I ordered lamb chops medium rare ($38). While cooked correctly, they tasted like frozen meat thrown straight onto the grill. The overcooked fingerling potatoes didn’t help. The chicken sorrentino ($23) was just chicken and mushrooms in the same processed-tasting marinara sauce—uninspired and overpriced. Service was mediocre, the restaurant only accepted cash, and the atmosphere felt more like an SNL skit than a true Italian dining experience. To make matters worse, I ended up with food poisoning. For the prices, the portions were small, and the quality was abysmal. If you’re looking for Italian food in the Bronx, Carmine’s is a much better option. I wouldn’t return.
