Great coffee and nice croissants in a cosy place. Very personal and friendly - feels like home. One of the nicest places in Brooklyn.
Great place to sit and enjoy an espresso in good company, and also a good place to read or write. Ricky the barista is the best!
Delightfully cozy coffee chop with a tranquil old world atmosphere. Like if a small reading room at a beautiful library was a coffee shop. Staff are wonderful too. Excellent coffee and hard boiled eggs!
Best little spot in all of New York! The vibes are warm and welcoming and the offerings are excellent. The lovely owner's warmth and humor create a very cozy environment that feels like a safe oasis in this crazy city. Don't sleep on Cafe Martin, it's a very special spot.
Warm, cosy spot in the heart of Park Slope. Coffee is always great but the latte exceptional. I don’t go anywhere else. Women owned and independently owned gem of a business.
Cafe Martin is hands down the best coffee shop in NYC. No other place has the same caliber of coffee, hospitality and straight up good vibes. Don’t even think about going to a different coffee shop. Seriously, if I hear that you went somewhere else there are gonna be problems.
Old world feel, friendly barista, expertly prepared beverages, and delicious coffee make this place a favorite neighborhood spot. Yes, there are more snazzy options with more comfortable seating arrangements around, but if you want a no-frills, delicious coffee, this is the place.
Just arrived in New York and had a lovely tea here, such a great place with classical music. Unfortunately my foreign card was declined but the owner was so nice about it! Tried to go back later to pay cash but was closed unfortunately. Hope I get a chance to go again some day!
Absolutely phenomenal coffee experience! The vintage charm and exceptional quality whisked me away to another era. Impeccable service and speedy, even during peak hours. A haven for coffee lovers without the chaos. A must-visit gem!
I actually think this is the best Cappuccino in the tri-state area. And I probably been to 40 different places.
Tiny place that has great coffee and friendly service.
Cafe Martin is my absolute favorite place in Brooklyn. Best coffee and matcha in the universe. Best vibes. Best humans. Love the new AfterMartin wine bar too! Thursday -Saturday 5-9pm. Check it out!
Best cafe in Brooklyn. Coffee is fantastic. Service is always friendly, and I always end up in an interesting conversation in this place. I don’t live close by, but I go out of my way to get coffee there.
Community cafe since 2010. This is the best coffee in Brooklyn. The owner, Jen, is like a perfect dinner host. Artists, musicians and writers frequent this place. I love the newspapers, the ambience and the lattes. You always strike up a conversation with someone and it feels like home. I try to buy the coffee beans from here instead of at the grocery store to help support this small business.
best coffee shop in new york city. jen is the loveliest person with the best memory and service of anyone i’ve ever met. and the coffee and matcha latte are superb. i’ve had a lot of caffeine in a lot of places and this place always prevails. worth the trip you won’t regret it!
Cafe Martin is my top choice for coffee. The coffee is consistently great, and the baked goods from Colson Patisserie are a real treat. It's refreshing to find an owner-operated gem in a city increasingly dominated by large chains. Enjoy a great cup of coffee and support a wonderful local business!
Best place in New York! At least, I think you could find yourself relaxed and comfortable enough in this environment to agree that you can have a chill stop here. Good tunes. Nice wine, not syrupy. And great local chat with the owner- Just nice vibes for an afternoon. Thanks
Just the best! In a city of cute coffee shops, this one lands a certain charm that makes your day better.
The coffee at Cafe Martin is the best in the city. My go-to is iced americano and it is so flavorful I can’t go anywhere else. The atmosphere is just as good — small, classic, like being in Paris cafe society. This is a real gem in the neighborhood and so welcome as Park Slope becomes increasingly over-run with bland, cold, homogeneous chains.
I love this cafe. It’s what all cafes should be: warm, inviting, charming, cool, fun, funny, comfy, and local friendly. I hope to go to this cafe when I’m old and grey.
Can’t believe such a cool place exists! I’m so sick of the chain coffee places with no personality or warmth. This place takes us back to great coffee, great service and great conversation. It’s a gem and worth a visit. Plus, they are now serving wine and beer at night! My new go to place for that too!!
This is the ideal neighborhood coffee shop. Great drinks and the owner Jen is a gem 💎
Best coffee shop in Brooklyn and perhaps the whole city. This is the Cheers of Park Slope. Jen knows everybody’s name and she will soon know yours. The coffee is outstanding, the vibes are immaculate. Do yourself a favor: get one of their legendary Americanos and be transported to a kinder, warmer, happier place. If you’re peckish, there are delicious pastries and boiled eggs on offer. Not to be missed!
So, I have driven by this place a great number of times and each time it would draw my attention. Today I decided that I would stop, park and go in. This place reminds me of a small neighborhood French cafe straight out of France. A lot of writers for some reason were there this morning who just happily started up conversations about writing (of course!), travel to foreign lands and world events. The coffee and owner-who was behind the counter making each coffee-are amazing!!! This took me back to France for sure. I will be back!!
The best coffee in New York! Full disclosure, I’ve only been here for four days, but I stand by my comment as I have been drinking quite a lot of coffee. A lovely little place, wonderful people, and great music. If I lived round the corner I’d be a daily regular. And if I lived elsewhere in the city I’d make a special trip.
A very chill cafe, can sit and enjoy. The tunes are for coffee and the woman is very kind who made our cafecito. The beans they use are perfectly roasted. Can’t wait to come back
Loved this coffee shop. Great coffee, very cozy spot, excellent service. I always prefer to support small business owners over bigger coaporate chains. Warm and intimate setting.
Oat latte was great - strong, single shot was exactly what I was hoping for. A small shop providing takeout only right now - tables & chairs have tape on them, so no patrons at the moment. Felt like a true local shop, so show these guys some love.
This cafe is a gem. Coffee is prepared skilfully, tastes amazing, Jen is super friendly and it’s just the best spot to sit and chill for a while. My fave in NYC.
A true neighborhood gem. A warm vibe that starts from the top (owner Jen, who is behind the counter much of the time). Beans (from Strongtree) are excellent. So grateful for this little oasis in our community
I had heard a lot of good things about this place and yup, awesome espresso and nice people! There's so many good cafés in park slope, big and small, and this tiny, easy to miss cafe is one of those hidden in plain sight gems.
Jen is such a sweet owner! She remembers every ones name in the neighborhood and always has good coffee!

I’m on a winter-long mocha quest, and this place has the best one I’ve found in Brooklyn. The coffee beans are excellent on their own, but what really sets it apart is the use of Valrhona chocolate. It makes the mocha rich, balanced, and genuinely special. The owner is delightful, and conversations here are always fun and unpretentious. The shop itself is small and intimate, the kind of place that invites you to sit, slow down, and read the paper. Any time I’m in Park Slope, I go out of my way to stop in for a drink.
Best coffee in Park Slope, by far. I’m used to great coffee in Europe, and this is every bit as good. It’s a cozy, friendly environment, with a real coffee house vibe. Tasty baked goods as well (get there early enough for the best selection).
Easily the best espresso in the Slope, which I enjoy in both hot and iced Americanos. Service is a joy. Jen is always up for a good conversation, and is a great part of the community.
Super cute spot — LOVE the interior design and the vibe overall! Matcha here is delicious, and the baristas are always super cool and friendly. My go-to in the neighborhood! 💚
Excellent! Love my morning coffee by Jenn. I’ve been going there for 7 years now. It’s cozy and chic. At night time the have “Martin at Night” vibes are awesome- people love it there from the community. When the weather is great, they have a small table outside for coffee. Coffee is bold like a French roast. They have beans by the bag and you get a free coffee with a purchase. I like it here so much that I’ve bought merchandise- a cap and a tumbler to represent.
A cute little place with the sweetest people and the best coffee! I’d love to visit again. :)
Really beautiful, warm, cozy little cafe with very good espresso. Even a little bar to sit at. Very clean stylish bathroom. All is small but very well taken care of and a reason why we love small directly owned cafes só much more than fancy or chain hipster coffee shops. - go support!
Best coffee shop on 5th Avenue in Park Slope. Super personable owner (Jen), friendly baristas, the coffee is great and special orders are handled perfectly. The environment is small and cozy and people actually know each other's names. It's the only cafe in Brooklyn where I feel like setting down my phone, taking in the environment and interacting with other people.
Greatest coffee shop in NYC, no notes! Thank you Cafe Martin
Left home to come to Brooklyn on a quick trip. After we came to this shop it felt like we were leaving home to go home. The Barista and a guest also helped us find the best pizza at Luigi’s. Thanks We’ll see you again
Café Martin for me is the very best cappuccino place in Brooklyn. Actually, I think it is the best cappuccino place in the tri-state area. Most places either under roast the beans making the espressos sour, or they over roast them making them taste burned and extra bitter. In most places the milk is either way too cool, or occasionally way too hot. In most places, the cappuccino is either way too strong, or way too weak, such a Starbucks. In most places the foam is too fluffy and airy, or there's hardly any foam. Most places get a couple of things above correct, but this is the only place that gets all of the things above correct all of the time. As a bonus, I love the old world atmosphere. For me, Café Martin is on par with Rome and Naples.

Barista is charming and the space is cute but the coffee tastes like ashes. Might appeal for cigarette pairings.
I had been eyeing this place for years as it’s next to my hair salon and always looked charming. I went in for a cortado which cost $5.50. It was undoubtedly the worst coffee I have ever had in my life. I am stunned at the cost for it. I don’t know if it was the service Friday afternoon but this is was the worst experience. I am truly disappointed in the service and quality of this coffee. Maybe the barista was not feeling up to making it. Unsatisfied customer.
The coffee was meh, it tasted like hotel/airport coffee. Prices don’t match quality of product unfortunately.
