Food and service are top-notch. Barmen does not just make great cocktails, he listens and adjusts based on your preferences!
Le Mistral is a great place. A long and nice bar, where you can dine if it is your preference. Great decor, wonderful glass windows. The food is excellent. The lamb chops were perfectly seasoned, tender cooked to perfection. The sides were mixed veggies and potatoes dophinoise. The duck and the mussels were amazing. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Desserts, the cheesecake and pecan pie are a small si, e if that is the only thing you are having but after two courses, it is the perfect size to end a meal. I recommend making reservations. And enjoy!!!!!!
Had a great brunch this morning with a large family party. Very accommodating front of house staff, with excellent food and service! Escargots were so delicious I forgot to get a picture of them before they were eaten, but they're a must have for those who love them! Poached eggs with hollandaise sauce were delicious, and came with perfectly cooked potatoes, and a lightly dressed salad. Perfect breakfast for a blistering day in the city. I'll be back! Update: I did go back, and it was equally as wonderful with only two people for brunch. Outstanding cream of mushroom soup. Like, transcendental soup. And the tarragon in the butter was worth dipping my roasted potatoes in as well. Everything was delicious, but those things stood out.
Food is truly incredible. Order the hanger steak. It may be the best French steak I’ve ever had!
Dinner at Le Mistral in Park Slope was nothing short of outstanding. The chef’s creativity and flawless execution shined through every dish, each one beautifully balanced and full of flavor. The service was warm, attentive, and made the entire evening feel effortless. The atmosphere strikes the perfect blend of cozy and refined, creating a space that feels both inviting and special. From start to finish, it was an exceptional dining experience that I cannot wait to enjoy again…but first, brunch !!
Seven of us from work went for dinner and it was absolutely delicious. The food was incredible—special shoutout to the fries and ice cream, which were next-level. I also loved the generous bread and butter (always a win!). The staff were all so kind, and our waiter was incredibly professional and friendly—just an all-around great experience. I was the one who picked the restaurant, so I was a little nervous… but it ended up being a big hit! I even got complimented on the vibe and atmosphere. Highly recommend for a cozy, delicious night out!
Brasserie Le Mistral – A True Gem in Park Slope Brasserie Le Mistral is hands down my go-to spot in Park Slope. The food is consistently excellent—on my last visit, I had the duck, which was cooked to perfection. Every bite was rich, flavorful, and memorable. The restaurant itself transports you straight to France, with a design and ambiance that feels both authentic and charming. It’s warm, welcoming, and has that rare neighborhood feel that makes you want to return again and again. But what truly sets Brasserie Le Mistral apart is Arthur, the manager. He’s not just running the show—he's part of the experience. Personable, attentive, and genuinely kind, Arthur will often sit down and chat with guests, making everyone feel like family. Honestly, if Arthur’s not there, I’m not going! The desserts are just as fantastic as the main courses, and Arthur’s generous spirit even extends to the wine—don’t be surprised if your glass gets a friendly little top-up. I love this place so much that I’ll be celebrating my 75th birthday here with family this Tuesday. It’s that special.
Had a wonderful Saturday brunch at Mistral in Brooklyn. The coffee was excellent, and the French pastries were just as good—flaky, buttery, and fresh. We ended with amazing mimosas, the perfect touch to a relaxing morning. One of the best French spots I’ve been to in Brooklyn. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a cozy place with truly good coffee, pastries, and a lovely brunch vibe.
Classic french combinations done well with no fuss and no changes! Always best to respect the chef's vision, since the dishes are composed after much thought. A nice place for brunch (my personal favorite meal). If Jose is your waiter, expect to have no complaints regarding his attentiveness.
Had a romantic and delicious date night here the other week. The food was scrumptious, highly recommend the frisée salad and duck. On Saturday night they had a wonderful musician playing French standards, made for a perfect ambiance. We will definitely be going back and strongly encourage anyone in the area to check it out.
An exceptional culinary and musical experience in Brooklyn. Our choice of three main dishes, including duck à l'orange, filet mignon, and black seabass, surpassed all expectations in flavor and presentation. The octopus and shrimp cocktail appetizers were also outstanding. Although the wine list is short, it offers excellent options for pairing. The Tarte Tatin deserves a special mention for its exquisite flavor. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff willing to advise on the menu. The live music, provided by a duo performing songs in English and French, further elevated the atmosphere of the evening. An unforgettable experience that I would definitely recommend!
What a lovely place with live music! The service is excellent, our waitress was very attentive. The eggs benedict we're cooked perfectly, the hollandaise was so good, with a nice subtle lemony taste. The croque madame was great but heavy on the ham. Everyone at our table loved their entry. However, we ordered a crepe to share and I would not get it again. The crepe was a little too thick and bland. I expected the chocolate inside but it was just a drizzle on top. I am looking forward to coming back here for dinner!
Lovely french bistro. The french onion soup is pretty good. The escargot is also a must try (if you aren't too squeamish about eating snails). The fries are very well done. This place also has live music most of the time. I think the owner is there all the time so service is well supervised and done properly. He obviously cares a lot about presentation and great service.
My first time here and the food was amazing! The onion soup was savory and delicious. I ordered the duck breast and black rice dish to say I had to stop myself from licking the dish is an understatement it was so good. My friend ordered the burger and fries. The fries were well seasoned and crispy and the burger perfectly executed. The waiter John was terrific! He was attentive and accommodating. The owner was in hand overseeing everything and supporting his staff. I will definitely be returning to try the the rest of the menu.
I was walking my dogs and remembering the good times in Paris with them. I decided I wanted an above average French restaurant. I have been here before but never reviewed the place. I started out with escargot which I expected to be served in their shells, but they were served in an oil basil sauce which was delicious. I went on to the burger with Gruyère cheese which was simply delectable. My server was so nice and I couldn’t recommend a French bistro more in the slope.
On entering during the early evening the reception was warm and accommodating with a well designed and bright atmosphere. I was offered the special of the day: filet mignon with potato gratin and vegetables paired with a bourdeux wine. I asked for the steak to be prepared medium well. The steak I received was medium rare at best and was topped with sauce that had a burned flavor. When the waiter inquired on my meal I shared that the vegetables were delicious but the steak was too rare and that I did not like the sauce. They responded with a meek “I’m sorry,” awkwardly shuffling away. When the another waiting staff came to gather my plate, they asked if I wanted to take the steak to go, and I reiterated that it was too rare and that I did not like the sauce. I received another apology from this person but no offer to remove the item from my tab or offer to try a different dish. I would have expected some care and consideration but it seemed like the waiters were avoiding correcting the issue altogether. I see the high ratings here for others and maybe the food they ordered led to a different experience. The wine I had was lovely and thoughtfully paired with what I ordered. But For a $85+ meal this place is just not worth it.
We had the pate, couscous salad, and french onion soup. My husband couldn’t finish the paté and the manager on duty asked if he wanted to pack it up. We said we were full and wanted to save room for more food. He gave us a smirking attitude and said “all right... its homemade” then left. The paté itself was cold, hard to spread, not smooth enough, and under-seasoned. The couscous salads were a disappointment- it tasted like spinach that was casually tossed together with couscous and no creativity in mind. The french onion soup looked appealing but it sat in too much oil from the cheese. It was tasteless until you got to the bottom of the bowl. The oil obfuscated the taste of the soup. There was about 1/3 cup of oil just sitting on top of the soup that I wanted to scoop out. Overall, we thought the food lacked creativity and taste. The bread was probably the best part. We will not be coming here again for French food. The space has so much potential but the food was disappointing.
