Been coming here for 12 years with my husband. Great breakfasts, wraps, sandwiches and burgers 🍔 We’ve tried other diners in PS and this one we just keep coming back to!
Good experience in this dinner in Brooklyn l order one Spanish omelet was delicious...definitely can recommend 👌
Great breakfast spot in Park Slope. Quick and attentive service. Highly recommend!
A true blast from the past, from the old picture on the walls, to the quant booths, to the original counter stools! I enjoyed brunch with my husband ☺️ and will visit again 🫶🏾
Cute lil place that serves simple but good diner food! My teen and I are enjoying a lil brunch after a Dr's appt!
Exactly what id expect from a diner. Menu has a wide variety of options, is pretty clean, food came pretty quickly and was hot and tasty, service was good, prices were okay for ny. Would definitely return.
The food was sooo good! I got a greek spinach pie platter. The fries were so delicious, the salad was well dressed and flavorful, and the pie was flaky just how I like it! The service was great too, our waitress was very friendly and accommodating, and our food arrived fairly quickly. The atmosphere was also great, very cozy. They have a HUGE menu for a very reasonable price, I would HIGHLY recommend it!
There are many other options in the area, including other diners. What I especially like about this place is the neighborhood feel. When I walked in they greeted me by saying hi, a new friend. I sat at the counter and Manuela was a gem, polite, friendly and efficient. As a cleanliness nut, this place is extremely clean which I love. I had a feta, mushroom omelet with grits. The feta melted nicely and blended really well with the eggs and mushrooms. The grits were creamy and tasty. As I write my review I can hear various chit chat and the overall environment is a a community friendly place with fresh, tasty food at a reasonable price. I look forward to coming back.
I have been in large, modern diners where the servers tend to a few tables each and I have to wait and wait. The Fifth Avenue Diner has one (1) person working EVERY table, the counter and the cash register, yet the service is impeccable. Orders taken quickly, coffee filled and refilled, food services in a timely manner and hot. Dated place, but clean and pleasant. Front is open, so it’s nice and cool. Clean bathroom. Accessible ♿️. It’s the way all diners should be.
Friendly service but food was bland.
I went to this restaurant with my kids and had a terrible experience. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with complete disrespect. The hostess didn’t greet us at all — instead, she just made a hand gesture for us to sit down as if we were animals. The waiter placed the cups upside down on the table with no napkins, then dropped off a pitcher without a word. We sat there for 20 minutes with no service, while people who came in after us were attended to right away. No one took our order until the waiter overheard me complaining to my son. At that point, I had no trust left in how they would handle our food, so we left. This experience was unacceptable. It felt discriminatory and unwelcoming. I will never return, and I will make sure to let people I know avoid this place as well. No one should be treated this way.
The soup was lukewarm and not fresh. Appt 8-10 hours after I ate it, I developed an upset stomach
This diner seriously needs to reconsider who they hire to represent their business. My daughter called a few days ahead to request permission to use the space for a high school video project. The gentleman who answered the phone was kind, understanding, and gave permission. Unfortunately, the experience on the actual day was the complete opposite of that kindness. When my daughter and her friends arrived, the waitress who greeted them was not welcoming at all. Instead, she was rude and dismissive, claiming she had no idea about any arrangements. She called the manager, and after my daughter explained the situation, the manager granted them permission to use the space for two hours, as long as they ordered food. The students, being teenagers, ordered what they could afford: some cheesecake, mozzarella sticks, and a milkshake. They paid for their meal, packed up their equipment, and even left what they could as a tip — $3. That’s when the situation turned truly unacceptable. The waitress publicly humiliated these kids in front of everyone in the diner, complaining loudly about the small tip. She even went so far as to threaten them by pointing to the cameras, telling them they were on video and should not come back. This was completely unprofessional, unnecessary, and hostile — especially toward respectful high school students who had already gotten prior approval and were paying customers. No employee should ever treat customers, let alone young students, with that kind of disrespect. A single rude and confrontational employee can undo all the good will a business has built. If this diner wants to succeed, they need to seriously address their staff’s behavior and training. Hospitality is the heart of this business, and without it, customers will simply stop coming. This was truly unacceptable, and I hope management takes a hard look at how situations like this are handled in the future.
Regular here. Today, a couple of teenagers came in to film I’m pretty sure. Cue a middle aged Hispanic waitress starting a screaming match at them and saying insanely unprofessional things, a wonder she isn’t fired. Yelling at them, being highly immature and calling the teenagers immature, and calling the obvious teenagers 30 year olds. Sucks that I’ve eaten here for a long time, but if the management think it’s okay for their employees to behave like that, me and my family do not plan to step foot in this establishment again.
My friends and I wanted to film a short film here so we called ahead of time and asked for permission which we were granted over the phone. We said we would buy food and even offered to pay to rent out the space but they said it wasn’t necessary. As soon as we entered the woman working the counter said that she didn’t know we were coming into film even though we called in advance. She immediately greeted us with an attitude and reluctantly said we could film. When we arrived we ordered food as promised, mozzarella sticks, cheesecake and a milkshake. After eating half of the cheesecake my friend discovered mold in her food (attached below). When I told the woman that there was mold in the food she didn’t apologize all she said was hmm but she did take the food off the bill. In total we paid $20.15 for our food. When we went to pay she made a point to say tip wasn’t included so I did add tip. Standard tip is 20% which would have been $4 but I tipped $3 since I am a high school student and my friends are too and I don’t have income. The woman then made a scene and said “$3 tip really? After barely ordering anything” to which I responded there was mold in my friends food. She then said we weren’t little kids we were probably 30 and acting this way (which is false) and continued to yell at us for not giving her enough tip (extremely rude and unprofessional). The entire time we were there a woman kept going in and out of the bathroom in front of us and they would continually side eye us and try to communicate about us in front of us. This was the worst service experience I’ve ever had, if you’re low on money and can’t provide a tip don’t come here because it will be a problem.
This dinner have very, very rude worker. She came to my table, told me I came at 7:30 ( not true I was at 8:30) and I’m staying too long ( was 10:20). She threw knife to my coffee and told me to leave. I never ever had such treatment in my entire life and been to many dinners. She was so rude and impolite. She could have been nice but she has no culture.
I never leave reviews but this place was not good at all. The food was bad, the service was okay, and the ambiance wasn’t great either. I should’ve known I made a mistake when there was only one dude eating alone in a booth and the worker behind the counter was ordering take out from another restaurant. Both my kids complained that the food was repeating on them later that night. Avoid this place if you’re looking for a good diner or coffee shop cuz this isn’t it.
