Fantastic choice of food available. I went for some tacos and stayed for plenty of margaritas. The service can be a little slow. But the quality of food is worth waiting for. The Tripa tacos were delicious. Great quality, great price, no need to think twice, Tacos Matamoros is worth a visit at this price. My order was chips and dips, with the main event of tacos, which were; Carne Asada (left) Vegetariano (middle) Tripa (right) Tacos Nortenos (plate by themselves)

The chilaquiles and vegetarian burrito were amazing. Lots of options to choose from and all of the food was great. The frozen margaritas are super affordable but tasted like margarita mix.

I've dined here almost weekly for near 2 years. It's been consistently good food and good vibes. I will say that weekends specifically evening it can get extremely busy wait time can be up to 30 minutes or more. If that doesn't put you off then I'd say you'd enjoy the food. I usually alternate between a quesadilla or enchiladas rojas al estilo matamoros. It's good and it's not pricey.

First time visiting. Glad for the local recommendation. Loved the atmosphere - immediately transported to a different vibe when you enter thru the doors. We got the pork chop platter, tacos and torta. The family cleaned their plates. Can’t wait to try the ceviche next time and other items on the menu. Friendly and kind staff - mainly spoke Spanish but will be able to accommodate basic service in English. We knew enough to communicate in Spanish.

Can get loud with live Mariachis. Food was good Lots of food options to choose. Margaritas were good. Recommend the pitcher!

Ordered the enchiladas mixtos & the girlfriend got some tacos and a mole tamale. The enchiladas were one of the better ones I’ve had in NYC. I prefer roja over verde, and I felt like the flavor was perfect. The meat inside was also great too. I tried one bite of the tacos and tamale too. The Al pastor was the best, carnitas was also good. The fish taco, unphoto’d, was not good. It’s just a broiled salmon taco. Will come back again and try one of their main platter dishes soon. We first tried to come here on a weekend evening and it was completely packed, with an abuelo playing a guitar and singing, 🔥. Weekday evenings are pretty mellow for finding a table.

Food is the best in the neighborhood. service is much much better now. Place gets really busy at times so be prepared to wait a few. Definitely worth the wait

Ordered pastor tacos and they were NOT it. Pastor was tough, burnt, not pineapple flavorful enough; tacos were wrapped upside down soaked in greasy nasty oil, it was a mess. Matamoros makes so much money, they can do better, specially with such classic taco. The ones from Tacos El Bronco are way better. Bronco 1, Matamoros 0.

I was disappointed the food that I ordered was brought to me all wrong I ask for the correct dish the waitress didn't want to change it. My Daughter In Law went and spoke to the staff they cooked the order I had asked for then they had the nerve to charge me for both dishes. I won't be back I was treated very unfairly.

Visiting the area and was walking around trying to decide where to go for dinner. It looked crowded (always a good sign) so I went in. The music was so loud that I couldn't hear the waitress and she either couldn't hear me or didn't understand me so she got one of her co-workers to help her take my order. The food was alright. Not the best enchiladas I've ever had, but not bad.

Ordered 4 tacos of varying flavors, the best was the carnitas. Horchata was tolerable. The tostada is actually very flavorable. Tiramusu cake has a strong coffee flavor. Nice staff a little slow but no complaints.

I order a burrito and on Menu said no spicy sauce, and I don’t want sauce bc I’m very sensitive mouth, and when I ate, thought onion, but they add sauce, which I didn’t specifically didn’t ask, and it cause my mouth be spicy whole day, but at least they fix problem which is good service and I’m prob pay extra tip for their help
