It’s a small restaurant in downtown Brooklyn. The food is delicious, some of the best Dominican food I’ve ever heard overall. Alcapurria 1/5. I wouldn’t get this again. I did not like it at all. Pastelitos 5/5, delicious patties. I ordered one with cheese, but it was missing. The beef and chicken were very good, not too greasy. Sancocho 5/5. The root vegetables were a bit starchy but it was a nice addition in this soup. I very so much liked it. Very flavorful and the chicken was tender. Rabo Guisado 3/5. It was way too greasy. The oxtail wasn’t tender either, many pieces were tough. It wasn’t cooked long enough. I wouldn’t order this again from here. Pernil 4.5/5. It was good, some pieces smelled weird although it was tasty. I don’t know what that was about. The skin was delicious, soft and hard pieces in the plate. Overall, very delicious and seasoned well. Chicharron de Pollo 5/5. I absolutely loved this. Seasoned to perfection, fried perfectly and every piece was delicious. Arroz blanco 3/5. Nothing crazy to write home about, standard white rice. Moro - Arroz con Gandules 3.5/5. I wasn’t crazy about it. It was slightly flavorful, but nothing I was get again. Not sure why. Arroz Amarillo 5/5. This rice was way better than the white rice and rice with gandules. I loved this rice. I recommend to choose this one instead. Maduros 5/5. Fresh, hot and steamy. Loved them. Passion fruit juice (Jugo de Chinola) 5/5. Loved it and it wasn’t too sweet. Perfect taste!!! Would recommend it. Tres Leches Cake 1/5. Don’t recommend. Too much milk. It wasn’t for me. I’ve had better tres leches elsewhere. Overall, come here, staff was great and they packed all of the food in the bag perfectly. I went to this restaurant on Christmas Day and I don’t regret it. I will be back!

I absolutely love what the new owners have done with this restaurant. If you’re looking for your new fav dominican spot, THIS IS ITTT!! The food was delicious and felt like i took a quick trip to THE dominican republic lol. Staff were welcoming & polite, vibes were top tier. (p.s i had churrasco (skirt steak) with eggs, plantains, rice & avocado) Needless to say it was bomb and Cibao will be seeing me again!!

Great food, great environment, amazing service. If you’re around the area and crave Latin food, this is a must-go-to spot. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted, and they gave us various recommendations as it was our first time there. We tried the bistec salteado with arroz, habichuelas, tostones, and were impressed. Honestly, the prices were very reasonable as well. I enjoyed our meal very much. We will definitely be coming back!

Cibao is a restaurant that I would order food from when I worked at a local school in the area and it was always delicious. For the holidays , I decided to order a pan of their rice and pigeon peas, and for $60 I received a large pan of rice that served 20 + people, with plenty left over. Everyone raved about how delicious this rice was, and inquired about the location so they too could order in the future. Needless to say, I highly recommend Cibao whether it be for a personal order; or catering. This is coming from a person who has moved out of New York 5 years ago, and I crave it each time I visit. You will not be disappointed. SB: I didn’t take a picture of the rice in the pan(which is huge) nor did I have any pictures at all but here is a screenshot from a video I took of all the food I made for our Xmas Eve taco Tuesday night, which the rice complimented very well!

I thought about writing a long, detailed review, but I realized it isn’t necessary. I’ll just let this photo I took of the tender, succulent pernil I had for dinner here do the explaining. It tastes every bit as good as it looks. Phenomenal.

Goddang this food is good. I went to make a catering order and ended up just getting some food for myself and the plantains were easily the best I’ve had. The rice and peas is flavorful, and the roast pork is juicy and rich. Would go again. (This nice lady helping us was very patient too)

I've ordered online pickup/delivery from Cibao a bunch of times and its always accurate, hot and good value. Today I walked in and finally gave into the chicharron in the window. We got the beef stew, quarter chicken, side of plantain, rice and peas, and chicharron...enough to feed 5, there's only 2 of us. Each portion was spilling out the sides, the food was almost too hot to handle when we got home and all of it tasted better than it looked. All on top of solid value. Thank you! PS: get enough chicharron so that you can put some leftovers in the air fryer the next day...

I go to this place very often, I love it. It always has good food and never disappoints. The portions are good, the service is very good, and since the restaurant has been remodeled it looks very good. I love going there to eat good Dominican food.

Super solid spot for large-format dinner for local delivery. The pernil is great and everything is reasonably priced. Delivery is always quick and they have some of the best pastelitos!

One of my favorite places to eat in downtown Brooklyn. The people there are always so kind, and the food is delicious! My favorite is the beef stew, but I’d recommend nearly everything from this place.

I expected much more from this Latin restaurant given the background of the owners and the neighborhood. The value was good - from a price perspective. So I gave 4 stars. Unfortunately, my rice was not hot. I asked for beans, and what I received was a tasty broth, in a 8 ounce cup containing no more than ten beans. The maduros were cold. The chiccharon was way too hard and not served with lime. I can see the effort, but overall execution was lackluster.

First time here. Walked in and ordered food to go. Staff were very friendly towards my children and I. I paid about $22 for two medium plates. In my opinion, the portions could use improvement. The quality of the food is there but the quantity isn’t proportionate to the price. One of the plates literally was packed with white rice and ONE piece of chicken. The flavor of the food is 10/10. The pernil taste sooooo good with fresh stir fry veggies. Overall, I would recommend the food and I would come again.

I ordered a large pan of sweet plantains for my party ($78). The plantains were not sweet or very ripe. Needless to say I was very disappointed since I ordered it days in advance. They tried to fix it but didn’t have sweet ripe plantains to even fry. The new batch looked even less ripe. The plus is the staff was very polite and tried to make ot better.

As a avid fan of Cibao for many years I am extremely upset as to how the menu has changed. I have ordered over six varied items over the past 3 weeks and they ALL tasted the same! Beyond bland is basically the only thought I have to offer. I was a major fan of the grilled chicken over a house salad. Lettuce, tomato, cucumber, with avocado on top. The dressing was delicious and flavorful. I ordered this 2 weeks ago. It had lettuce, tomato, red+ green peppers, No avocado. It had tons of kale or cilantro and the dressing tasted like it was watered down. Today I had the grilled chicken plate and there was lettuce and tomato in the dish, NO dressing nor flavor. I also ordered a chicken plate that was supposed to be a stir fried chicken with flavor. With the exception of heavy cilantro it tasted the exact same as mine. There seems to be NO seasoning in any of the dishes. The New owners SHOULD have sat down with the previous chef and staff listening exactly to their menu and NOT have gone and changed anything. I feel bad as I am sure many other repeat customers will feel the same way.

I loved the old Cibao the food was amazing and the setup was great. Now the setup is ridiculous less room to eat. And the food is horrible. I ordered food on 5/23/25. I got my usual rhe pernil sandwich and an order of chicharrón. I ended up getting food poisoning that day. The pernil did not taste the same and rh chicharrón tasted old and greesy. I ended going to the hospital for the food poisoning. I will never buy from there again. It's a shame they used to be good.
