Really thick & tasty gravy, reminds me of Mexican Mole almost. If I could just comment to watch the salt a bit & this dish would be literally perfect. Nice firmness to rice & peas, along with the side of cabbage served. Went as a table of 1, was seated fast & served quickly. Drink was 100/10! STRONG would come back just for drinks 😉
Stella's Restaurant is absolutely fantastic! The atmosphere is welcoming, and the food is absolutely fantastic. Vera, the owner, is incredibly sweet, and her energy makes the place feel special the moment you walk in. Highly recommend—don’t wait like I did, go with your friends and enjoy this gem!
We loved the pumpkin corn soup and the codfish fritters! The jerk shrimp was delicious for us (but my salt sensitive partner wants to share that it is still quite salty, FYI). Nicest folks ever, and truly delicious food
Great little Caribbean restaurant we came across searching “best Jamaican food near me” while in Brooklyn for a few days. Service, food quality and quantity is top notch. We had the dinner for two. Everything was perfectly seasoned and so tasty. Our waitress Shanice was super. If ever we are back in Brooklyn, we’ll be back. 🇨🇦🙏
I catered a Thanksgiving turkey and sides from Stella's, and I could not be more happy with the experience. From start to finish, Vera was incredibly helpful and accommodating. I never once questioned whether our 20-person gathering would be fed. Stella's really soared with their customer service, and the food was AMAZING. The jerk turkey was unbelievable -- don't skip out on the jerk sauce. The herb roasted turkey was also perfect. We also got mac n cheese, sweet potatoes, green beans and bread pudding. All of them phenomenal. Thank you SO MUCH to Vera and the rest of the Stella's crew. I can't wait to have another Stella's Thanksgiving!
I just want to say the all around experience was great for me and my dad. Diego was great he served us our food and spoke and showed us around the place. He had great customer service from the time we walked in until the time we left. We got to meet the chef Ackeem. I want to say that he’s a great Chef and also has great customer service. The food was amazing the way it was served like the whole set up. When I say the first bite omg 😋😋😋the oxtails were perfect and the meat was falling off the bone💕💕the collard greens and vegetables were soooooo good. My dad had jerk salmon and the same sides as me and he cleared his plate. We will be back. It’s a very clean environment and we felt welcomed. The mocktails were also very 😊 That was my first time there and the experience was a 10/10 I’ll recommend everyone to eat here. You won’t regret it. It was worth every penny💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💕💕💕💕💕🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯Thank you
Great food came to the table with steam pouring off it. 🍲🍜 The “Jamaican Breakfast” takes me back to Negril and Mr. Barry’s (Italian) Restaurant on the beach. Stella’s chef expertly wielded the hot sauce upon request and the drinks work too! After multiple visits for Brunch, one day i will have to go back again for dinner. 😁
For my sister's 60th birthday, we decided to get food from Stella Caribbean, and it was a decision we won't regret! The entire meal was a culinary masterpiece. Each dish was prepared with incredible care and an authentic Jamaican touch. The oxtail was tender and rich, the curry goat was perfectly seasoned, and the escoveitch fish was simply divine. Even the sides like the bammy and rice and peas were exceptional. It’s rare to find food this fresh and delicious. Everything was so good we were practically licking our fingers clean. Stella Caribbean made her birthday celebration truly special, and I would order from them again in a heartbeat.
Stella’s establishment has a basic look, but a clean presentation. There are speakers set up around the restaurant which play classic reggae and soca tunes. Our waiter was cordial and attentive. The homemade drinks were excellent. The food reminded me of my great aunt’s caribbean dishes which were excellently prepared. This restaurant is worthy of a revisit for more good eats from the pot.
Absolutely amazing experience at this Caribbean gem! From the moment we walked in, the vibrant atmosphere welcomed us with open arms. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. Now, the food? wow! Each dish was bursting with authentic flavors. The jerk chicken was perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection, while the fresh catch of the day melted in my mouth. Don’t even get me started on the rum punch—it was the best I’ve ever had!
Had brunch @ Stella’s today…Absolutely delicious. Warmly greeted, food well seasoned (curry chicken roti & chicken w-waffles)…we enjoyed our meal. Both were a good plate (not small plate) serving. Rum punch real nice w/a sugar stick 👏🏽. Found me a new place for good & delicious & delightful sit down Caribbean cuisine. I look forward to trying more items on the menu. Thank you!!!
Had dinner here on a Thursday night and Stella’s did not disappoint. The waiter was incredibly helpful and answered my questions around ingredients, recommendations, and top dishes. The food was so flavorful and had depth. I added photos of our entrees but we also grabbed two chicken patties and the jerk shrimp as apps. The chicken patty wasn’t dry at all and the shrimp tasted like it was marinated for hours. Our three entrees were very different from one another but everything was cooked to perfection. The chicken in the curry chicken wasn’t dry at all, the salmon was moist and well made, the oxtail was falling off the bone. I’m looking forward to coming back again and trying different dishes!
I found this place on Instagram while looking for a restaurant in Brooklyn. First I tried to make a last min reservation... And I mean a very last minute, like 45 min before. I couldn't make one because they were busy. My husband and I decided to try coming anyway. Thank goodness we did because this place is small but a vibe. All seats were filled. Servers are super friendly and attentive. Food always AMAZING. I mean so freaking flavorful and good. Drinks were strong and tasty. I'm a foodie, I WILL BE BACK!!!! Tell Vera I sent u! Oh side note, hubby had the rum punch and I had the coco comfort!
We went from Long Island to Brooklyn just to try Stella's and we're glad we went. We visited for dinner on V-day and got there a few minutes before 7. That's when happy hour ends. We got seated a minute after 7 but they recognized our arrival time and still honored the first round of drinks and apps from the Happy hour menu. That was already a good sign and service was super friendly, professional and fun. Our server was Shemmel and he was so good and personable towards us. We also met the owners and they are good people. I wish I got their names. A very sweet and friendly couple. Food wise we got the Mussels (good portions), chilli tamarind wings, oxtail, snapper Escovietch, sweet plantains and bread pudding. The broth in the mussels was a tad bit salty but maybe be a bread offering would have made it better. Wings were alright. Oxtail was tender, juicy, perfectly flavored and very enjoyable. The snapper was also good. Sweet plantains were cooked just right and hit the spot. We asked for their hot sauce and I believe we got the scotch bonnet, which we loved. Drinks were strong and on point. Ambiance was nice also. There is a cozy speak easy downstairs that can fit maybe 20/25 people. There's an insta wall for pics, Bob Marley art piece and Caribbean flags. We also found street Parking a few blocks away. We plan to visit again. Thank you Stella's for a fun night!
Amazing food and drinks. Super friendly staff, great vibe! We had the Curry crab tostones, seafood roti, sampler, spicy shrimp, coconut rice, codfish fritters, and pumpkin corn soup between two visits, had to come back it was so good! Rum punch hits the spot. LOVE it here. Definitely should be on your list of go to Caribbean restaurants in bk!
I came in on a Sunday afternoon and despite the crowd I was quickly seated. The staff was pleasant and attentive. The music and aesthetic was also perfect! I ordered the Mac and cheese, chicken curry roti, and rum punch. Everything was seasoned to perfection and came out nice and hot.The owners were also here and super pleasant. Definitely would come here again.
Stella is a bar/ restaurant that serves Jamaican food. We had a few cocktails called Ting aling are nice and strong. It tequila based with pineapple and fresh lime. There was an amazing dj to set the vide. Playing a lot of different rnb. We ordered the jerk bacchanal it had jerk chicken, jerk pan fried salmon, it had jerk prawns and mussels. You also get to choose the two side we chose garlic vegetables and plain rice, lats start with the prawns there where cooked to perfection they where soft and full of flavour. The chicken was so moist. Even the breast was tender and so juicy. The salmon was so nice it was cooked all the way through and was still flaky. The mussels where nice and fresh. The jerk flavour was so blanches it had a bit of a tang and a little sweet not overly Spicy! We asked for some orange sauce on the side it had a bit more heat! I highly recommend this restaurant. As I was leaving the owner was smiling and asked how the meal was. I said it was amazing the chicken was so moist he was laughing and had a big smile on his face! Please support this restaurant you won’t be disappointed.
Great food, great people! This is my first time having Caribbean food but the experience doesn’t disappoint, it only makes me want to try more from Caribbean cuisine. I love everything that I ordered, except for the coleslaw (but I hate most coleslaw anyway). The chicken wings were smoky yet tender. Chickpea dish was an absolute love story for the chickpeas. The salmon was very creamy and coconut-y. Unexpectedly but the the ribs were phenomenal, tender, flavorful. Creative drinks are strong so this can be a plus for some. The restaurant has outdoor dining, which is always a plus for the seating options. Service was great! Price was a bit expensive but I would still recommend since the food is so good.
Terrific new Caribbean restaurant in the South Slope! Portion sizes were great and the service was efficient and friendly. Their back patio is extremely warm with great ventilation, so my family felt very safe. On the whole, they took all the Covid precautions very seriously. We will definitely be returning in the near future!
Located in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn, I went for a birthday celebration for my niece. They were very accommodating by opening up an hour early for our large party. Kudos to them for that. The food was ok. I had jerk wings and mac and cheese, while my wife had the seafood roti and my daughter had the fried chicken and rice. They even gave her complimentary ice cream. They have a full bar and pleasant service. Popular spot that fills in quickly, so make sure you're timely.
This restaurant was highly recommended by a friend to have impromptu business convo. This review is from the new location. The decor was lovely, with all the West Indian flags on the wall. They had a DJ that kept the vibe going, but the music was loud. It didn’t allow for any cross-the-table conversation. An older couple came in and lowered the music but didn’t order, and upon them leaving, the music went back to bashment levels. The waiter that served us was pleasant and very attentative. I had a fantastic ginger beer (they need to bottle it). All the food looked amazing!!! We started with the codfish fritters (cakes) with the incredible spicy tamarind sauce. I ordered the jerk chicken with a side of Mac and cheese. My jerk chicken wasn’t hot, but it tasted good and was moist; the coleslaw that came with it on the side was great (I had apprehension about coleslaw as the side that comes with it, but I was pleasantly surprised). I also ordered some sorrel, which was also good. Unfortunately, as I got down to the bone of my chicken, it had a bloody knuckle, and the meat around it also had signs of pink and red. I waved over a waitress (not our original server) and showed her the undercooked areas, and she asked me if I didn’t want it. She took it away after I told her no. I wondered why she thought that was acceptable, especially after pointing it out. My original waiter asked me if I wanted anything else as a rectification, but I declined, and they took it off the bill. I ate the Mac and cheese, which was great. After the fact, we also ordered some bread pudding, which was a 10! It is worth just going there for that. I wanted to love the food, especially after coming with an excellent recommendation from a friend who had been going there since their last location and was even recognized by our initial waiter. I humbly recommend lowering the music so people can have conversations and take cues from the patrons. The music may be prohibitive if you don’t see them engaging that. Regarding the music, offer a concession, even if it is a free drink or dessert. I can’t say I would go there again, but I wouldn’t be surprised if I did. #cheers
Absolutely horrible experience with the meal I had ordered from this restaurant. I work at the hospital down the block and was desperate for a full, refreshing meal after a long shift. I ordered the curry goat with roti meal and what it came out to be was curry BONES and roti. Absolutely NO meat was present, and if so, the meat was buried in fat. For $30, I was entirely ripped off and scammed and served nothing but BONES. If you want to sip on curry juice with a side of fatty bones, this restaurant is for you.
