Teddy’s is a charming bar with an interesting history on Berry street. The building itself will catch your eye. I usually sit at the bar which has a wide variety drink menu but I adore eating a meal with a seat at the window. I usually order a sandwich or salad and in the winter I go for the soups. Prices are moderate for the quality and experience
Only went to the bar; atmosphere was great.
my friends and i take the 1.5 hour drive from long island to come here. the nachos, wings and lobster BLT are unreal. by far one of my favorite spots, the staff is unmatched and the energy is great!!!
Amazing spot with great food and drinks. The first time we stopped in here we weren’t sure to expect and everything was amazing. That was a few years ago now and we’ve been going back ever since! They have a ton of gluten free options!
As a local, this is THE spot I recommend when friends come to visit. The menu and the cocktails are made for everyone to find something to enjoy. I love what they’ve done with outdoor seating as well. Here are some of the highlights of the menu: chicken wings (especially the honey sriracha!) are delicious and MEANT to be shared, steak fries are made to perfection here as well. My go to has been the Kale Salad, it’s delicious and piled high. I would just recommend asking for the dressing on the side. If you have an appetite, definitely go for the nachos or the Mac and Cheese! Very cool space with accommodating staff and warm outside seating. Highly recommend!!
One of my favorite places for dinner! Great service! Large tables outside are perfect for families. Food is always fresh! Fish tacos were amazing! Big salads! Love giant soft pretzels and everything from the kids menu!
I LOVE THIS PLACE! The waitstaff is great, the food is amazing and the mixed drinks are to die for. Great local place, prices worth the food. I've been coming here for 7 years and it's always great. The staff treats you like family and attentive, they have their moments but that's life. Beers and burgers are delicious. Their specials are always satisfying. I bring all my friends here and have a great time.
I travel for work so finding a place to eat that’s comfortable and inviting to solo diners can be a challenge. This place was perfect! Great comfort food (highly recommended the Mac and cheese and the curly fries to accompany any meal). The atmosphere is cozy. A great spot for singles, couples and small groups. Can’t wait to come back!
Such lovely staff. You can tell they like each other, which makes the whole atmosphere so enjoyable. The food was excellent.
I was an older single on a Saturday evening. The place was packed. The hostess was smart enough to seat me in a corner near the front window. It felt somewhat private, which I wanted. Service from all three servers was very good! Kudos for being generous with the wine pour. I don't like it when a restaurant is stingy, measures the amount, and only gives you one-third of a glass. The pulled pork sandwich was good. I liked the pineapple slaw. Overall, though, the sandwich was on the spicy side. I am not fond of "spicy". Was no indication of this on the menu. Maybe Teddy's should explain that, or give the diner a choice.
Great food ! The pickles were unlike anything I have ever had before. Service was impeccable thanks to Brianna. Her opinion helped with our amazing experience. Drinks were definitely on point as well and I will definitely come again!
Love coming here, the food and drinks are always really good. Service is always top notch too. Giving atmosphere 1 star though because the Williamsburg crowd is always disruptive. Not any fault of the restaurants but something to be mindful of if looking for a place to eat
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! Super authentic! I absolutely love when I come across a place that has kept the old architecture / heritage. The server was great - can't remember her name, but she was a very pleasant quirky fun person and made our experience all the better. I am happy to say the food was awesome but embarrassed to admit how much we all ate! Between 4 of us, we literally had a HUGE plate of nachos, a dozen chicken wings, tater tots, artichoke pizza and the enormous pretzel. Why am I embarrassed to say that? Because those were only the appetizers. Then we each ordered what turned out to big burgers with tater tots or fries. Guess it all went down better cause we had lots to drink. Again, absolutely LOVE this place. Saw they also have a craft beer store at the back, but we were running late but we will be back!!!
Absolutely loved this place. Amazing historical bar which could easily be a North London (UK) pub. Full of period features, don't miss the 130 year old tin ceiling, and friendly welcome staff. Didn't eat, but people next to me us had burgers and they looked delicious. This is a must visit if in the area.
I’m so happy this place is still around. One of the best brunch spots of 2007 is still going strong! I haven’t actually been in a while, but I always loved coming in for brunch, dinner, or a regular old lunch. Watched some great French national soccer on their TVs, and have had countless delightful experiences and interactions with the staff. Hooray for Teddy’s!!
A different assessment: the hamburger is simply amazing! When you're there, ask for Sandra's service! Guys, seriously, she's really amazing! A friendliness in person! We had endless laughs! An impeccable service! The only negative thing is the beer, which was not too cold! But this is a national problem !!! No beer is as cold as in Brazil!
Such a great place! The food was DELICIOUS and the hamburgers were HUGE , all the staff is nice , ended up sitting outside , the place was very clean and had great vibes. Drinks were also amazing!
After living in Brooklyn for 4 months, I had yet to find the best burger in the area. When we went to Teddy's, we found ourselves a winner. These burgers have everything you would want from a good old American burger. I had the 1887 burger, my boyfriend went for the standard Teddy's beef burger. Tasty meat, a crunchy bun, and just the perfect amount of greasiness. Curly fries are also recommended. I'm craving for another one while writing this review!
Literally typed “Bloody Mary” into google maps and came here. Little did I know I was about to have the best pickle of my life, from within said Bloody Mary. (Photo is post-consumption so you will not see pickle. Or Bloody Mary.) The very kind bartender caught on to our adoration for the pickles and proactively added extra to my order of the crispy chicken sandwich. Not all heroes wear capes.
My son (6 yrs old) and I love this place! If we are in the neighborhood this is his go to place. I love it for the lobster mac, sweet potatoe steak fries and drinks. They have a margarita that I love and some pretty interesting concoctions I have yet to try. My son loves it for their guacamole and whatever he feels for on the kids menu and off it lol. Great place, love the ambiance, good for little ones; coloring books and smiles are always available. We've had the same hostess on all of our trips and forgive me for not remembering her name but she has a great photographic memory and knows us each time. Always chats up my little one! If you are around or even if your not check this place out. You won't be disappointed.
best food. best happy hour. makes me happy
We had to wait 30 minutes for a table but it was worth the wait! Nice to see they had a homemade veggie burger on the menu. It was very high quality made with great ingredients, although the patty did fall apart a little as I was eating (the burger is giant!). The fries were also delicious and it was nice that they offer curly fries and steak fries. Would definitely return.
The artichoke flatbread is extremely good. Get the Honey Sriracha sauce on the side and drizzle it on. This move feels like a cheat code. The burger section also has a great add on menu. Pretzel buns FTW
Do yourself a favor and try this place! The outdoor seating is absolutely incredible! It’s shaded and there’s a fan above you. The entire staff is absolutely incredible and so so kind! We had the best server, her name was Vittoria! The food arrived quickly and it was hot and delicious! Me and my partner will definitely be back!
The feeling of a beloved local classic. Great location, ambience, and the food/beer selection just make it better. Can get busy, especially when they’re not staffed properly for busy rushes. Buffalo Wings - Perfectly crisped on the outside while remaining juicy and tender on the inside. Fantastic homemade sauce. Arguably the best wings in the neighborhood. Loaded Nachos - Generous portion. Meat and sauce were on the slightly sweeter side. The game changer would have been homemade or at least thicker cut chips. *As always, remember everyone has off days, check your bias, and consider other palates.
★★★★★ Review Teddy’s Bar & Grill is a true neighborhood staple. My go-to order is the blue cheese bacon burger with steak fries—consistently one of the best burgers around. The chicken sandwich is also excellent and comes on a pretzel bun, which I’ll sometimes swap in for my burger when I’m feeling adventurous. Taylor the bartender is hilarious, welcoming, and great company. From management to bartenders to servers, everyone treats me like family the moment I walk in. I’ve been coming here for 20 years, and the warm ambiance never gets old. The wings are great, the giant pretzel on game day is a must, and sports are always on. One of Brooklyn’s oldest-running bars for a reason—reliable, welcoming, and always hits the mark. 🍔🦄✨🇺🇸💃🏻🪩🕺🏈
Absolutely amazing Bloody Mary’s, great food, wonderful atmosphere! But the real kicker for me and my girlfriend was the amazing bartender Taylor, who had a fantastic playlist going and was the warmest and kindest bartender! ❤️ really made our last minute date night special and we can’t wait to come back again!!
Great place to stop for some very tasty pub food.. inside and outside seating..... We had a burger and a chicken sandwich, both were very tasty. Steak fries were awesome too.. Frozen strawberry lemonade was very tasty. Service was excellent. A great stop prior to a show at the music Hall of Williamsburg.
Had a great experience at this spot in Brooklyn. The food was delicious — full of flavor and clearly made with care. Service was fast and friendly, which made the whole visit smooth and enjoyable. Prices were fair and reasonable, especially for the quality offered. Overall, a solid place to grab a great meal without breaking the bank. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!
Super-friendly staff, quick service and wonderful festive cocktail menu😍 tried their hot cider and hot teddy drink, both are delicious but the first one is definitely my favorite! They have very nice decorations there now, don’t miss out if you want to dine/have drinks in a cozy new year festive place with good vibe and service!
Our favorite neighborhood bar! We went here two years ago when we first moved and fell in love with their wings- now we go all the time. Normally we get a Caesar salad, Buffalo wings and a pretzel! We tried the curly fries this time and they didn’t disappoint. We LOVE Sandra, she is an incredible server and is one of the best things about visiting 🤩
Teddy's Bar is a great place to grab some food. I love the burgers, cooked as ordered (I like rare), fresh, and juicy. Bonus two for one Burgers on Tuesday's! I usually get the disco tots as well, they're pretty damn good, with mozz and mushrooms and big enough to share! The service is good and the bartenders are friendly. I like the rustic look, the lighting and decor are nice, and the vibes are chill. Comedy Tuesday, on the first Tuesday of the month is pretty great as well, had some laughs and hope to make it to the next one.
Cute, basic food. Nothing to rave about but, the atmosphere and service was really wonderful!! A cute and worthy spot for a casual dinner with friends. Also many dog oriented things which is fun.
The burger is very good! Add cheese and a side comes out to $20. But it is a staple for them. very good and filling. The pretzel is the best I’ve ever had and there nachos are loaded and the pulled pork is marinated to perfection. The chicken sandwich is a huge pass… they should take it off the menu or totally redo it. No flavor, flat chicken, batter not crispy - very lackluster. Service was not very good. The food came out fast and hot but after that we had to flag down server a few times. For four items and two drinks bill was $115.00
The blackened catfish is still a staple here and always hits for me. Great to come here on their less busy days. Excellent service as usual.
Service was great, drinks were great and the portions were generous which can be a bit rare. The Mac n cheese was a bit soupy and not very good, but it was all reasonably priced and I was definitely go again
Service was wonderful. Staff was super cool. Food was good but soup kind of fell flat. Nachos were loaded but mostly got soggy; nachos’ biggest fear. RIP soggy nachos but it’s a reality for most nachos. Highly recommend the curly fries and some of the homemade sauces though. Can’t go wrong with curly fries. Caeser also yum. Julius would be proud
Had a nice afternoon at this pub - supposedly pretty famous if I believed what my partner tells me. The service was nice and quick - sitting at the bar had a pint of October Festbier, the disco tots and a Caesar salad with shrimp. The food was great. Large portions wirh high quality. The grilled shrimp with the salad was expertly spiced and still warm from the grill! Tots overflowing with cheese and large mushrooms. Would definitely come back for the food and vibes. Recommended.
Neighborhood locals, frequented Teddy’s many times before. Stopped in early evening with our 6 month old. Normally would give this place 5 stars for beer selection and ambiance. However today, we had dismal service. We were scoffed at when we requested to sample some of their newer beers on their rotation to decide what we wanted to order. Then we received some suspect garlic aioli with our fries. We told our server it tasted stale or funky and she brought us the same exact one. She slapped it down on the table without even saying a word, and never checked back in to see if it was better. When we paid the bill, we mentioned that it still tasted off in case anyone else ordered it. There was an awkward pause after which she said she’d tell her manager. I gave her a more than generous tip for the level of service, and she bee-lined to her coworker to complain about us and give us a death stare. Overall, we’ve always loved it here. Have even sat at the bar and got to know one of the owners who is very nice and accommodating. But today this put a sour taste in our mouths unfortunately.
I ordered a beef burger with curley fries. The burger was not that good. You get a very thick meat piece that is not seasoned - the burger is really dry - I didn’t order any extras - but when I added avocado still dry. There is no sauce and I find it peculiar that the extras are what make a burger a signature burger of a restaurant. But you are there to decide for yourself but each costs 2 dollars so the 15.50 dollars for main burger seems like a good deal but then when you add all the nice things avo and cheese it gets pricey. Just don’t know why a restaurant that is there since 1887 treats their menu like “subway” make your own. The Curley fries were amazing- really crispy but have to say way too many. I can eat but the portion was unnecessary much. The plate also was not a smart choice - everything just fit on it - so if you were to decide to cut the burger instead of eating it with the hand (due to massively thick meat) there would have not been a way… It’s just sad that the burger wasn’t really good there is so many options all over NYC and I shouldn’t have picked this place.
We visited this place to get some food and a drink. The food was very average. I ordered a veggie burger with curly fries which was only okay. The burger itself lacked seasoning and flavor. The curly fries were good. We got deviled eggs and some scrambled eggs as well. The deviled eggs were good and the scrambled eggs were okay. We had a cocktail each, Bloody Mary and king of New York. The cocktails were enjoyable. The place is done up well with a vintage feel. I would visit this place to get only drinks as the food was very average.
Food was okay. My burger was average and a little bit overcooked. My husband’s breakfast burger eas really good. Service was fine and they let us dine in with our dog. One thing that really bothered me is that I asked for BBQ sauce for my fries, and at the end they charged me for it. The server should have said that those are add ons. Good local place to have a beer/burger.
The lady and I were walking down Berry street until we felt the munches. We walked right in with no wait, sat at the bar and received our food in 20 minutes. Atmosphere was fine, the salad was expensive for such a small quantity, the chicken nuggets and fries were great. Overall, I would give it 4 stars.
The only redeeming quality of this place is their beer selection. How it it has remained open since 1887 is beyond me. We ordered some food and it was mediocre, just barely edible. The disco tots came with mushrooms, some weird almost béchamel like sauce? I guess this was their version of gravy? The rest of the food was also not good. It’s really hard to mess up French fries or anything fried in general but they somehow did. The large pretzel was not good. The portions are large, but the food is not edible. I don’t know if the kitchen had an off night or what. Not a single person in our party liked their food and we aren’t that picky. How there are so many positive reviews is beyond me. Maybe there are too many people from out of town and tourists in Brooklyn now because that’s the only logical way that a place like this could have above 4 stars. If you have to go here stick to beers or drinks at the bar. Brooklyn you can do better…
Very disappointing food- got the corn chowder, chicken sandwich, guava mule, and catfish sandwich. All the food was extremely bland and had to be salted heavily to salvage any sort of taste, the corn chowder especially was some of the worst I've ever had- literally tasted worse than Campbell's. Cocktail just tasted like a watered-down generic mule- nothing special. Chicken sandwich tasted like fried, unseasoned chicken and the catfish lacked any character as well. Service was polite but not super attentive, although it was busy so they were probably just understaffed. Atmosphere was fine- looked like every other trendy bar/restaurant that charges $19/cocktail. With tip, meal for 2 came to about $100, which isn't terribly expensive, but for the airport-quality food, feels pretty bad. Wouldn't recommend to anyone, really.
The food was really awful. Even my sprite was bad.
Some of the staff here after work observing are selectively friendly to the patrons. Let’s start off my saying I feel very cheated and disappointed especially being that it was Mother’s Day. I think the waitress was selectively friendly to who she wanted to be. I observed her the entire time and to be quite honest I spent money on a salad because you didn’t have enough option’s on the menu. Horrible!! I’ve never went out to eat to just have a salad. If my mom wasn’t crippled I would’ve prob left. Everytime I see the lobster blt on thei IG story it just a reminder that it wasn’t available the day I visited but it was the next day. I spoke very highly of this place to my mom and live literally down the block from you that’s why I bought her there but I think I’m officially done with this place. I live on north 5 pretty posh bldg so I’ll make sure to spread the word. DONT even bother going to this place to impress a loved one. The chef puts salad on breakfast plates but no fruit salad. Save your money.
Very disappointed with this place. The terrace L outside look nice and design inside, however food is down point . We ordered shrimp tacos and guacamole with chips . The tacos was basically very sweet caned pineapple and caned pepper , that all you can taste :(( Guacamole was very bland , no salt just mashed avocado. In general just a place to grab a drink . Service was good , however is can not save this place. Do not recommend .
I came here on a Friday night while passing by Brooklyn with my sister and her boyfriend. Honestly, this place is oddly racist. As two Latina women and one Bangladeshi man it was such an uncomfortable experience. We got seated and noted that everyone in the restaurant was white (the customers) it took about 10 minutes for someone to ask us if we wanted water or any drinks. We were patient and got our drinks, no napkins, no utensils. About 20 minutes passed while we have our drinks and we were looking for our waiter. Despite him making direct eye contact numerous times, he helped every other table around us instead. I thought maybe he was just busy, so we waited another 10 minutes and noticed he was looking for other things to do instead of helping us. At this point after waiting almost 40 minutes, I explained to the hostess I would just like to pay for the bill. I understand when a place gets busy but it was clear we were the only minorities in the restaurant and being refused service. After paying, I told the hostess goodnight and thank you for her help but she didn’t say anything back and looked at us up and down with an expression. This is not a feeling I would want anyone to go through and if you are reading this and are to a minority I would think twice about coming here. We deserve the same service as any other white person.
Unfortunately, we had a really bad experience. The waiter forgot one of the orders ( that means one of us had to watch everyone else eating the whole night) after we asked for it 3 times, they finally brought it but too late we were ready to leave. We never received an apology for it, but instead attituded. We understand that it could be an honest mistake, however, the attitude needs to be different and you have to show somehow that you care. On top of that after the terrible service, they were expecting us to pay almost 37 dollars tip which we refused completely and the lady we spoke to about it ( didn't ask for her name) said “ Really? Is that the only reason you are not paying the tip” very disrespectful for her to say that when instead she should have at least shown some sort of empathy and willingness to fix the situation. Very disappointed.
teddy’s seemed like a great place to grab some drinks at first. getting food however was a different story. I ordered the 1887 burger which was supposed to take longer (about 20 mins). It came out in 10 and to my surprise…raw. Take a look, does that look medium? I asked the waitress if i would get sick, and she told me she’s seen rawer. Instead of taking it off the bill she offered us a round of shots to which we all awkwardly declined because i already felt ill. still tipped 20% because i’m in the industry but yikessssss..
I’ve been ordering from Teddy’s every Friday for the last seven weeks. Yesterday, I missed the delivery cutoff, so today my family and I planned to pick up lunch and eat it at home — because with a two-week-old, eating out isn’t exactly relaxing. We reviewed the menu early, planned our morning around their noon opening, and even shifted errands to make it work. Everyone was excited — we were ready to go, ready to enjoy it. I was prepared to easily spend over $100. But when I tried to place a pickup order, I found out pickup wasn’t even an option. After all that effort, and with a newborn and hungry five-year-old waiting, it was incredibly frustrating to have to scramble last-minute for something else. It’s a shame — we really loved Teddy’s. But after today, I’ll be moving on. It just shouldn’t be this stressful to get food for your family.
