Outstanding meal! Probably the best grilled fish (much less catfish) I’ve ever had — and we were just in Alaska last August eating fresh halibut. The chef really knows his stuff, from the roux to the asparagus to the heavenly and surprising grilled oysters. Our server Tobey also was a gem. Made a long and very hard road trip day into a great memory. Well done y’all! (Oh, but playing Marc Broussard instead of Talking Heads would have made it even better!)
A week late but I have to give credit where it’s due! Food & service is always great! Oh & that top shelf margarita, amazingggg! This particular visit exceeded our expectations, our waitress Jaslyn was the best server we’ve ever encountered! It’s literally like we had made a ‘cousin’ not a friend. From her introduction to the end of our dining experience she had our little family smiling and laughing from ear to ear as if we were related! Our 1 y.o who isn’t very friendly even babbled a few words to her. Absolutely love when the little one is acknowledged & not just seen as a baby in a high chair taking up room. Highly recommend & def will be back!
Top quality cajun food. Relaxed atmosphere with great service. I ordered a shrimp po-boy. You could tell it was prepared with love. The bread was toasted with butter. The fried shrimp has the perfect crisp and taste. Fries were seasoned to perfection. You gotta try this place if you looking for quality cajun food.
I had the duck gumbo and potato salad as I usually do. If I'm in the Lafayette area, I will always stop at one of their locations. Service was good despite the place being packed. However, while sitting at the bar, I got to see the kitchen manager bark out orders to the entire wait and kitchen staff. I think he thinks he's Gordon Ramsey with the foul language and disrespect he showed towards other staff members. You could feel the tension between him and the staff. The faces of everyone told me everything I needed to know, a pretty hostile place to work.
Chloe was our waitress and I think we would come back for her service alone! She was wonderful. We wanted some good, authentic Louisiana cuisine and this is it! We don't get this good food in North Louisiana 🤣 He got the catch of the day, snapper & I got the eggplant pirogue. We got the crawfish bon temps rolls, and the brownie sundae to top it all off! Spent a bit of money and it was worth every penny!
Wow! Just pulled into town and followed my gut to stumble onto this gem. Excellent service, tasty food (grilled oysters amd shrimp) and a wicked Old Fashioned using Louisiana whisky (Rare Stash). I hope I can corral my team to return here at least once during my stay. Can't wait to try the Bread Pudding back at the Hotel!
A coworker and I took a vendor here for lunch, and we all were thoroughly impressed. Ordered the Char-Grilled Oysters Supreme as an appetizer, and they were fantastic. I ordered the Catfish Atchafalaya as a main meal, and it was also very good. Very clean restaurant and excellent service. Will be back next time I'm traveling to Lafayette/Broussard.
I wanted to highlight some seafood dishes and a few other things from our last couple of trips to Prejean's. A few of our go-to dishes at Prejean's are the Crawfish Enchiladas and the Shrimp Trinity. Both are packed with flavor, and I would highly recommend trying. The seafood platter has so much food on it that you can eat on it for multiple meals. We do have a little turf in the mix with the grilled to perfection pork chops. Crawfish Enchiladas Shrimp Trinity - Shrimp & Grits, Fried Shrimp, & Stuffed Shrimp. Seafood Platter - Shrimp, Crawfish, Catfish, Gator, Oysters, & Hush Puppies Grilled Pork Ribeyes
Overall the food was great. The green beans weren’t bad, but just not to my liking. Pork Ribeyes were tender, well done, yet still juicy. The red beans and rice was 🤌🏼🤌🏼. The customer service was excellent. I sat at the bar and the young lady checked on me often and also asked how I was liking the food. Wish the. Brownie had a bit more ice cream especially for the price. It was mostly whip cream. Will definitely comeback and try another item from the menu.
My husband and I met my parents in town for the weekends and my mom always raves about Prejean’s. We came for dinner and it was AMAZING! The appetizers were fantastic and so was our meal! We sat outside since we had my dog but it was shaded cool and relaxing. Vivian was our server and she was phenomenal, she was attentive to everything and everyone, including my dog! She was great! We will absolutely be back!
Great all the way around! We stopped there for a weekday lunch on a family trip. The food and service were great; I got a crawfish enchilada with salad, my wife and daughter got a catfish meal to split, and we got the 3 variety gumbo for a starter. The food was delivered quickly, and our waitress checked on us periodically throughout the meal. It's definitely a stop on our next travels through!
A newer restaurant. Seemed like a satellite of the original Prejeans in Lafayette. There is plenty of parking and seating. There is a stage for entertainment. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable about the menu. I had the fried fish bites and a shrimp salad. Both were seasoned just right. The fish was not greasy and there was enough to share. I enjoyed my lunch there and would recommend when you are in the area. t.
Great food. Alligator bites taste like chicken with a nice breading. The ranch dipping sauce was great. Also the Thai sauce. My eggplant came with some crab sauce and it was easy on sensitive stomach. The smoked duck gumbo a bit spicy for my taste buds was good pair with the white rice
This place was recommended by our Swamp Tour guide, and we were already planning on going before. We got the Crawfish Bon Temps roll for an appetizer. It was very good, but definitely a bit on the salty side. I got the duck and andouille gumbo with potato salad. My husband got the boudin flatbread and fried okra. Both were very good! I'd definitely go back. And the Hot Mamma Mary was very good. Warning - definitely take a sip or 2 before removing the spicy pickle bottle!
We sampled lots of food (oysters, stuffed shrimp, crawfish enchiladas, shrimp & grits) and everything was delicious! Great service and frozen blackberry margaritas was tasty! We had to take the dessert with us for breakfast because we were stuffed. It even reheated nicely! We will return soon!
How is everything so good!? Zero issue, perfect food and traditional environment!
What I thought would be a mediocre dining experience turned into a culinary masterpiece. The service was spot on, super friendly but not too much. Manager came by and was really cool. The facility was nice and clean. Now for the food….AWESOME! I have cooked and eaten Cajun cuisine my whole life and this blew me out of the water. I don’t think there is better anywhere and that’s saying a mouthful. Go and try it, you’ll love it.
I traveled to Lafayette from out of state for a meeting and when the team that I was meeting asked what I would like to do for lunch, I suggested something in the local culinary offerings. We went to this location and it was awesome. I had the catfish atchafalaya and it rocked, including the sides as listed on the menu. If you're in the area, definitely check it out. Service was friendly and attentive also. A+.
We sat out on the patio and listened to the entertainment and ordered appetizers.. great outing! Food was decent, ordered fried catfish bites & the seafood egg rolls, the egg rolls weren't my favorite but weren't bad.
My husband had the Catfish Atchafayla. I had the Shrimp Pasta Dianne. Both entrees were amazingly delicious!!! The waitress was very friendly and attentive. The dining room manager, David, was very friendly and kind to us!! The desserts were amazing! We will definitely be back to Prejeans the next time we are in the area and will recommend it to others!
Best Cajun food in Lafayette!!! Get the duck and sausage gumbo. You won't regret it.
Great place for authentic Louisiana food. Can accommodate large groups or smaller parties. Service was fast.
Shrimp and crawfish tails were perfectly seasoned. Catfish was delicious, too. Waitress was very nice. Host was courteous to answer our questions about the area since we are from out of town.
First time here ...had a party of 22. Waitresses were awesome kept our drinks filled got our food out quick and made sure the kiddos had plenty of color sheets. The food was excellent, fresh and cooked to perfection. Thanks for a great evening!
Casual place with amazing food. We actually went twice while we were in town to bring family back so they could try it. Everything we tried was good. Went for dinner and brunch the next day. Not the cheapest meal you'll buy, but it's worth it.
This is the first time I have been to the one in southern part of the city and it was great. I got the red beans and it was very good. My wife and mom also enjoyed what they got. If you want actual Cajun food this is the place.
Prejean's Restaurant truly delivered a memorable dining experience. From the moment we sat down, the service was attentive and friendly, adding a warm and welcoming atmosphere to the meal. The hamburger steak was cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful, a testament to their dedication to quality ingredients. But the real star of the show was the fried alligator bits. Crispy on the outside and surprisingly tender on the inside, they were a delightful and unique taste of Louisiana cuisine. Overall, Prejean's left a lasting impression, a place where delicious food and amazing service come together for a truly enjoyable meal.
Is a relaxed atmosphere. I was able to hear the conversation. There are a good number of booths. Everything was excellent.
I had seafood gumbo, shrimp-stuffed mushrooms and another pasta dish with a crab cake in the center with 6 deep fried shrimp. Anyway, it was all very good.
Comfortable yet professional service. Shrimp trinity was very good. Beers were icy cold!
This will be our second year coming to Louisiana with our baseball team. They are always accommodating when it comes to having a large party. The food is always tasty and the service is always friendly.
Our reunion party scheduled our Saturday dinner with them. They don't have a big enough area inside, so they booked us in an area that was not air-conditioned. They had big fans but it was still too hot for me, so I sat inside, separate from the reunion party. The food was tasty. The drinks were good.
First time here and we went a little late in the evening. Restaurant was quiet with only a few tables left. Our server was incredible. She was personable and attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. Made wonderful recommendations on the food and we all loved our choices. We will definitely be back and will try a brunch soon. Our server said it was the best around!
Today I had a grilled chicken Caesar salad. It came w egg and bacon crumbles. It was by far the best Caesar salad I have ever had. While I’m at it, the ribeye pork chop is one of the best pieces of pork I have ever eaten.
Let me start with saying I Normally don't leave reviews about places. I was in town working and not really familiar with the area. We had dinner here our last night in town. The food was delicious. I had the salmon steak with asparagus and mashed potatoes... If your reading this and haven't ate here before!!! Don't waste anymore time reading these thing's. Prejean's wont disappoint you!! Our waitress Heather was awesome as well. This place is on it's A game!!! Next time I have to work in the area I will definitely be eating here again!!
We went out n New Year’s Day and had zero wait time. Got seated and severed quickly by Harley. She was kind and patient with my five year old. We all enjoyed our meals with shrimp and grits was the favorite.
I'll start by saying, you should start with the fried green tomatoes! No thin slices here! I forgot what they were topped with but I know there was crayfish in the sauce and it was absolutely delicious. Then, I ordered shrimp 3 ways. Fried shrimp was great, stuffed shrimp was done in a way that I've never seen, let alone had before. The shrimp and grits though...OUT OF THIS WORLD! I would've had dessert but felt like a glutton after eating, totally worth the food coma afterwards. My server was Jas and she made me feel right at home. Can't wait to come back
Came here from New Orleans for my 25th birthday and they did not disappoint! The grilled alligator was so seasoned and delicious. The rest of my group had catfish and chicken tender platters and those were also very good. The dessert they gave me for my birthday was absolutely delicious. Everything was exceptional. I will be back the first chance I get to come back to the area.
Sat at the bar Saturday 11/15 and had a wonderful experience. The bar is cozy and welcoming, the bartender/staff was outstanding, and the food was off the chain! We like this location a little better than the main one north of Lafayette (even though it is amazing as well). Thank y'all for treating these Texans well!
The tacos were well stuffed and tasty, but dry. The waitress brought my selected two sauces both of which made the tacos very good. And, the French fries were great. I had to take them home. Because I was full.
I brought my first date in years & I had an exceptional good time. We stayed 2 hours. No pressure to make us leave which I appreciated. Waitress was kind & understanding. Food was great & the atmosphere was awesome
Delicious!! Fried green tomatoes w etouffee. Etouffee was different than I had before , maybe some tomatoe/cream?IDK, But every bit as good! No pictures because I ate it before I could think about it. Friendly employees. Fast service
Nice new location for Prejean’s. First time at this location. Clean and service was good. I had the Shrimp Trinity. Shrimp and grits, fried shrimp, and stuffed shrimp. Overall I really loved this dish. This was the first time I’ve ever seen a dark shrimp and grits. But it had a whole lot of flavor going on! So good! The fried shrimp were good and even the stuffed shrimp, it was superb. I even liked the string beans, not usually a fan but these were so tasty I ate the whole thing. The only downside was the price to quantity. $27 for 6 small shrimp in the grits (shallow bowl) 3 admittedly good size fried shrimp, and 1 stuffed shrimp. A little steep. The whole menu is pretty steep so you better love the food and go there maybe for special occasions. I don’t think I could eat here regularly, it would blow the average budget! lol enjoy it if you can. Maybe one day I’ll go back to try something else.
I came here last night and was almost the only person in the restaurant. There was one other couple. I ordered the tuna protein salad and gumbo, but what I was brought was the Caesar salad with lump crab meat, which cost significantly more. Not sure how that mistake was made. The salad was very expensive for only being as good as it was. The gumbo, however, was fantastic. It was kind of a 3 experience but I’ll give it a 4 because the gumbo was excellent and the waiter fixed the bill to even out.
Amazing food, got the sea food platter and gumbo one of the best gumbos I’ve ever had. I also got the oysters unfortunately got sick from them and still am. They tasted like they were shucked a while ago I think that’s why they made me sick that’s why I give it 4 stars. But amazing food would definitely come again
If you close your eyes, you might think for a moment that the chicken cracklins are actual gratons! Easily one of the best versions of chicken nuggets ever. Fried catfish was on point. The crawfish étouffée was pretty good. It was nicely seasoned, but it tasted like they used heavy cream in it. Now, don't get me wrong here. It did NOT taste bad. It just didn't have the same richness profile that I'm used to. The corn macque choux was really good. The mini pie version they serve is a nice touch and something different. This place is worth a visit if you haven't been yet.
Fries Gator Bites! That's all I have to say. Authentic Cajun cuisine, always delicious.
Food was really good. I think the only thing I could point out for improvement would be to use chicken breast for the Alfredo instead of tenders. The coullion burger was perfect!
Have been a fan of this place for years. Haven't been in 10 + years however. Was somewhat disappointed with my last visit with my mother who wanted some gumbo. I thought this would be a given. She has recently had surgery and we travel over a hour for her appts. And procedures, surgery, etc. The gumbo roux was so dark in color it was pretty much black in color. And she thought it was too salty. After adding the rice she did take about 4 bites but didn't want anymore after that. Good thing she got the cup and not the bowl. Our catfish was kinda mushy. I thought it was Maybe under cooked. But could of been that the fish was old and borderline should not have been cooked and served. Pricey of course like i remembered. Bill was almost $80 for 2 for lunch. And I had an appetizer for my entry and red beans and rice as my appetizer. It was ok/ fair overall. Disappointed is the word I was searching for. The quality of the food was not worth what we paid for.
Upon arrival, it was unclear where the entrance was :( 😞. I parked, walked inside, and was promptly greeted and sat . Our server was not far behind and was quick to bring drink order. Ordered raw oysters and ribeye steak (medium). Oysters came out pretty quick and the steak was not to far behind. The oysters were good size and flavor. Was a little disappointed that there was no horseradish sauce with them.. looked for server but was done eating them by the time she came back. We cut into the steak and it was well past medium, cut another slice and it was still past medium, cut a slice from the other side and it was medium. With that said the texture of the steak was more like sirloin than a ribeye. again looked around for server, but by the time she returned we were almost done.. The twice baked potato, on the other hand, was very good. Really hoping the other menu items will keep this place afloat until they figure out how to do a steak right.. also found the music to be a little loud for being lunch on Sunday. Could barely hear the people sitting across the table..
We paid $81 for an order of crawfish nachos, 2 canebrake beers, 1 unsweet ice tea (that was $3.15!) a shrimp trinity and an eggplant pirogue. The food was good, but not $81 good. The atmosphere wasn't anything special. Our server was great but again, nothing out of the ordinary. For $81 in Broussard, I feel a little underwhelmed. We spent $60 at a different Broussard seafood restaurant and were WOWed.
It was great to be back home. The restaurant was clean and the waitress was friendly but not active enough. Ordered the 1/2 & 1/2 platter with the catfish and shrimp. Shrimp were delicious but the fish I thought was really fried too long and were hard due to the batter that was used. Overall ok I guess.
The fried crawfish was not that great and the amount was skimpy for the price we paid!
Fried crayfish was too spicy. Long wait for food. Restaurant was about 30 % filled.
There were a ridiculous amount of people for lunch. That should have told us to stay away. My hubby’s shrimp Dianne (which he’s had before) was burnt & tasted bad. He didn’t say anything because of the amount of people, they were overworked. He loves this dish & we will try again when there are fewer people. If it’s bad again, he will say something. Otherwise, waitress & staff were nice & friendly & my meal was pretty good.
The venue seems promising for a good live music. Overall pleasant experience if you like fried food this is your place.
Our food was cold and the bread was still cold inside of some of ours. My steak was cold and flavorless. The stuffed mushrooms (3 small mushrooms for $15!) were tasty. The fried crab fingers were cold and either old or overcooked. Typically, the crab meat slides easily off the shell. These were hard and didn’t come off of the shell even when biting it hard. I won’t be back. It was overpriced and the quality was very disappointing. I had company in from out of state and I wanted to bring her to an authentic restaurant. Prejeans has always been a reliable restaurant with delicious Cajun Food, but I won’t be returning.
Was okay, maybe then orginal is better. Food was okay, service was subpar. Took over hour to get meals, meals were messed up and shorted. Had to go to bar to get drinks as server was extremely slow. Was recommended by a local to go, but I would not pass the same recommendation on.
A DISGRACE TO CAJUN & SOUTH LOUISIANA COOKIN’! The fried oysters are crispy on the outside, but mushy on the inside. The gumbo has a burnt taste likely they burned the roux. The hush puppies were over cooked and butter wasn't served with it. The batter on the outside of the fried seafood is overpowering the seafood with spice. The bread isn't complimentary to the pricey dishes. Oh & flies! There's flies flying around the interior of this restaurant that makes the experience even worse. Such a shame because I expected more. The only reason I am giving two stars because the servers really care about their customers.
Was sat at a booth and 8 min later still no wait staff to acknowledge or attend to us. There were only 3 tables full in the restaurant on this Sunday at 12:15. We ending up leaving.
We brought our daughter here while she was in town on a business trip. She had the Catfish Atchafalaya and really liked it. My husband had the Shrimp Trinity. He said the fried shrimp, stuffed shrimp and shrimp & grits were good but the green beans were way salty. I had the Cajun Fried Rice and it was awful! The rice was cold, dry, and had a sour taste like it was old. The shrimp cooked in the rice was tough. The 2 catfish filets on top were just 'meh'. Couldn't eat any of it. Very disappointed.
Tried Prejeans for the first time this week for my nephew's birthday (his choice). The staff was awesome and very attentive. The food, however, was a disappointment. First of all, the food is more on the Creole side than Cajun. Almost every dish had a "blackened" element so if you don't like that, you're pretty out of luck. My brother's gumbo was more like a stew with overly dark roux. My husband's shrimp were a nice size and the fries were delicious. He's not a fan of hush puppies and they said no substitutions so he asked them to them to just leave off his plate but was told they wouldn't. My sister offered to take them but she said they were obviously frozen and really mushy so they still got wasted. My nephew, who picked the place, ended up only just getting boiled shrimp. Again, a nice size but very bland. My entree, Shrimp & Grits, were the biggest disappointment. The few shrimp were small and I'm still not sure what they did to the grits. They were somehow both mushy and gritty at the same time. I'd compare them to the consistency of cauliflower boudin (with a similar taste). The creme brulee was rather tasty and they do make a decent old fashion. If you're a tourist, you'll probably be fine. Just don't expect it to be the "authentic" cajun meal you'd normally expect on this area.
No one to seat my family and I so we sat ourselves. We ordered gumbos both chicken and seafood. We recommended out of town guests with disappointing results. Gumbos were thick gravy like soups with an extra smoky taste with hardly any seafood or meats. The waiter was great but the food was a disappointment and I paid a lot of money for poor food and quality. I would not recommend .
Greeting and seating were good along with servers we sat outside and the fans were not on. I asked for a manager and it was 45 mins before she even came. They were not busy I spoke with Megan who was the general manager and explained to her my situation and she told me “she was not on the clock to find someone else” I thought it was rude and we left
Didn't receive my food came in at 11 order about 12 everyone receive they food and I didn't very upset will not come here again.
The worst experience I ever had a restaurant. It took over an hour and 1/2 before I received my food. Once I received the food it was warm not hot the shell was still on the shrimp in the gumbo. I will never eat here again.
8/15/24-Disappointed birthday lunch! I was surprised to see the baby sized enchilada ordered from the lunch menu. The salad that came with my lunch covered 3/4 of the plate. But the worst part was the enchilada was cold, I couldn’t even puncture the cheese with the fork. I sent it back. My dining partner ordered fried fish and shrimp that came with fries. All of her food was cold. I will say the shrimp were seasoned good. She was so hungry, she ate it because it took forever for the food to come. I ended up drinking 2 cups of luke warm stale coffee. I will not be going back!
Hostess had a terrible attitude. We were not greeted when we walked in, which is customer service 101. Told us if we don’t have a reservation, it will be a 30 minute wait. We agreed and while sitting in the waiting area, saw that there were reservations available on opentable for the timeframe we were there. Training is needed for anyone working the front of an establishment to be welcoming and provide a positive atmosphere.
Well, the Prejans on I-49 was ok, but the last time was not so good. Took customers to the broussard location. Gator bites were ok, but I had a shrimp po-boy. Very small, 6 shrimp, no flavor. FOr 15$ I expected A LOT better. If compared to Bear's in Covington, I would throw rocks at Prejans. Never again.
Way too loud, horrible live music. Food was cold, no flavor. Way iver priced for the quality of food and poor service.
