My friend and I got lunch today at Betty's. It was my first time going there. I was pleasantly surprised with eating outside. It was nice and shady and the service was great. Food was fresh and delicious. We each got a sandwich which gave us a choice of a salad or a pasta salad and I would definitely recommend it.
Had Sunday brunch and it did not disappoint. Fast polite servers, clean place, I'll go back.
Only in town for one night and the reviews said this was the place to go for Sunday breakfast. Right they were. Seated immediately and coffee was on the table right after that. I had a blueberry French toast casserole that was delicious, and a huge portion. My son had a pulled pork Benedict that he loved. So many great looking choices on the menu. I doubt I'll have the opportunity to go back, but if you're in Buffalo you should.
The food was delicious, and so was the staff! We were worried that since we came in so close to the closing time, we would have to rush and eat. Our waiter assured us that we'd be able to take our time, and we certainly enjoyed ourselves. I especially loved the cheese grits. Will come back again soon!
We sat outside on the patio and had our breakfast here and shared the Shrimps & Grits as well as the French Toast casserole. Both dishes were really tasty and sufficient in size. The waiter was very nice and caring and the overall service perfect. Definitely worth it and fully recommended 👍
All i can say is this place is absolutely amazing not only did they get me in the day before valentine's day due to another restaurant closing but they made our experience amazing. My date was vegan so i went out of my comfort zone and teyed what they had and O.M.G you coundnt even tell ( buffalo platter) i took left overs home and my 17 year old loved it and didnt even know it was vegan. I have been back twice since the 14th and i can't speak more highly of the service and food 5☆
Cute ambiance, welcoming, casual, great gluten free options, street parking during the week, awesome locals spot - highly recommend.
Totally get why this place has so many great reviews. It started filling up right at opening around 8:00 am. I was welcomed right away by a really friendly guy, and I went for the French toast special—which, even though I was starving after a long day of travel, I couldn’t finish! The eggs were super fluffy, the two sausages were solid, and the home fries were nicely done—everything hit the spot. I probably wouldn’t get the French toast again since it was a little dry for me, but there are definitely plenty of other options I’d love to try. I added a cup of strawberries, and that was such a nice touch. I’m staying in Buffalo for a bit, and while there’s a lot to check out, I’ve got a feeling I’ll be coming back here again.
Brian, our server, was an absolute delight! So helpful and thoughtful at every turn. Not to mention to lovely morning brunch serenade. Couldn’t recommend highly enough ❤️❤️❤️
This place is fantastic! First off, the customer service is spectacular. The staff is so incredibly friendly. Very refreshing nowadays. The Bloody Mary is amazing! Great flavors, good spice, well balanced. The food!!! Omg it’s awesome. My wife has the egg burger and I had the biscuits and gravy. Absolutely incredible. There was one small negative....the grits I ordered were cold. BUT...the way our waitress handled the feedback was great and balances out the small issue. There’s usually a wait, but if you have patience you NEED to come here. Highly recommend!
Can't remember if this was just a special, or if it's on the dinner menu, but wow! Candied yams with some peppers, two big juicy pork chops, garlicky greens, and some grilled cornbread. It was to DIE for! If this is what one of their meals tastes like, you can be sure that the others must be similar in quality. Recommend!
Really good food along with great cocktails. So we decided to go back to Betty's. They make a great carnitas quesadilla, that is crispy and quite tasty with the chipotle sauce. Paired with their cocktails is a win win situation. I also enjoyed their carrot cake and my wife loved their macadamia nut cookie.
My mom and I were visiting Buffalo from out of town for a concert, and stumbled upon Betty's after searching Google for vegan options -- couldn't have been more happy with it!!! The atmosphere makes you feel right at home, staff is super friendly, and we were stoked to see so many awesome vegan things on the menu. We got to try the "Just Egg" scrambled breakfast and hashbrowns and the vegetable soup. All amazing! Will definitely be returning in the future!
We were only in town for a weekend and our friends asked to meet at Betty’s for Sunday brunch. Seems like a pretty popular neighborhood spot. Staff was really nice, wait time wasn’t too long (although you will need your whole party present before getting a table), and the food was excellent. I love biscuits and gravy and theirs is top notch!
Diverse, Global Flavors: Dishes often feature unique combinations, such as Greek vegetables from Kalymnos with tomatoes and cinnamon, Portuguese spinach with sunflower seeds, and South African beetroot with pineapple. De Hippe Vegetariër Homemade Desserts: The restaurant offers a variety of house-made cakes, including nut caramel, chocolate coconut cream, and white chocolate pistachio tarts. Vegan and gluten-free options are available. De Hippe Vegetariër Warm, Intimate Atmosphere: Guests appreciate the cozy ambiance and the personal touch of the owners, who are actively involved in the kitchen and service. Wanderlog Natural Wine Pairings: Betty's offers natural wine pairings that complement the dishes, enhancing the overall dining experience
Betty’s is a classic Buffao brunch spot. The food is always amazing and service is great. I even brought my parents here and they loved it! They are very picky eaters and the Betty’s server had no problem making accommodations for them. I will definitely be back! Just make sure to plan accordingly since they don’t take reservations usually
Went here with my Fiancée for dinner. Absolutely loved the food. Had the Big Mac Pizza, Beyond Sliders, and pineapple upside down dessert. We loved every thing we ordered. They had great options for veg, which they made very good. I can't speak to their non-veg options but they had a healthy amount of those as well. The vibe of the place was carefree, and service was mostly good. We will absolutely come back here soon!
My original review was not very positive of Betty’s. I was initially disappointed, but have returned a few times since. Today we went for breakfast and not only was the food absolutely delicious, but the service was outstanding. There wasn’t one time where our water or coffee were even close to half empty, and they were getting filled. I’m so happy to be redoing this review. We are looking forward to returning to Betty’s.
Excellent service and food. I have always enjoyed Betty's and now there menu has been upgraded to meet the dieatary needs of vegetarians & vegans. Along with people who are not able to have dairy, soy, or gluten. Definitely a place to visit if have not already done so, you won't be disappointed.
Went there for dinner!! Such a good meal. I was going to get the “Vegan Tour of Buffalo” but sadly, they were out. Instead I got the vegetarian pizza! It was so good. Although it was labelled a “small plate” it was enough for me to eat just half and be completely full! The beyond sausage was wonderful as well. I will be definitely going again!
Can confirm the excellent reviews. The place started to fill up right upon its opening at 8.00 am. Was immediately served by a very courteous gentleman, and I ordered a french toast special, which I couldn't finish, although I was famished after a previous day of travel. The eggs were very fluffy, 2 nice sausages, well done home fries, everything was great. I wouldn't order again the French toast. It was a bit dry for my taste, but I am sure there are lots of other choices worth trying. I added a cup of strawberries, and it was just awesome to have that option. I am temporarily staying in Buffalo, and although there's a lot to explore, I think I will get back!
Based solely on reviews we stopped here while passing through. It absolutely lived up to the hype. I was worried seeing a line as we arrived on a Saturday at brunch/lunchtime. No problem, super minimal wait. The place is small but well laid out and didn't feel crowded. Although being a bigger guy I could've done with a few more inches than was available on the way to the restrooms. Good was outstanding. Really great. Eclectic menu. Wonderful vegan and Gluten-Free choices. Really top notch. We enjoyed everything. The staff was fast, efficient, and friendly. Our waitress in particular was professional and knowledgeable. Knew her menu and locally sourced products that they used. She gave us tips on reheating our leftovers. Fantastic experience. Recommending to friends that pass through. We would love to return.
Betty's was pretty close to where we stayed when we were in Buffalo and I wanted to make sure we tried it, and I am so glad we did! We went for a weekday breakfast so there was not any wait time and we got a table immediately. Like some other spots in the neighborhood, they have turned an old house around into a restaurant and that really gives the place a very charming/warm welcoming vibe. We were a party of 4 so we ordered quite a bit and not a single dish disappointed. Everything we ordered was vegetarian. The place had enough options to include various dietary requirements. A special mention to their waffles, which was on their specials. By far the best fluffiest, mouth melting waffles I've had at a breakfast place! The service was good and our server kept checking on us to see if everything was ok. Overall, will surely go back to Betty's if I am in Buffalo again.
The place is very cute, we sat indoors but there is also a nice outdoor area for a sunny day. The food and presentation were superb. Dishes are big, I couldn’t finish mine. The mimosa was good too. The waitress was quite friendly and efficient, she contributed to a great experience. Loved the place!
Betty’s was awesome. We visited from out of town and it was the morning of the Bills game. I loved that every single person was in Bills gear. Although the place was very busy, we were seated in no time, and service was excellent and fast!
We were in town for the weekend and the place is so cute. The food and drinks were fantastic especially the French toast casserole. Brian took care of us and his recommendations on places to check out around Buffalo were much appreciated. We will definitely be back next time we are here.
For years I have passed this place and never had a chance to make it in because of the time they close. I finally made it in and I have not left lol. I go at least 3-4 times a weeks. My favorite drink is the caramel Irish coffee. I absolutely love all the employees but BRIAN IS MY ABSOLUTE FAV!!!!! If you’re looking for great food, great drinks and great people RUN TO BETTYS
This place has always 👌 given us a great breakfast in a wonderful atmosphere. A beautiful little corner location and artwork installations inside add to the charm of this little gem in one of Buffalo's oldest neighborhoods. Shout out to more toast options than anyplace (cornbread! What?) and great service from Brian!
What a find! The menu is wonderfully extensive—there’s truly something for everyone, and everything we tried was delicious. A big thank you to our server, Brian, who handled our last-minute additions with ease and kept the endless flow of coffee coming. We enjoyed a lovely morning sitting outside. Even though the restaurant was busy, the wait was short and absolutely worth it. Highly recommend!
This place is great! And the food was delicious. I had the portobello benedict and my partner had the triple berry french toast which was so tasty and decadent that we took half of it to go. Our server was very friendly. Our coffee was bottomless. I’d definitely go back again.
I wanna start by saying this has to be the best breakfast place I’ve been too. I tried Mikey’s casserole 🥘 and all I can say is I ordered 2 casserole meals. The casserole tasted so good and the homes fries was seasoned very well. I tried the vegan French toast and that was good too. I definitely recommend ordering Mikey’s casserole. You won’t be disappointed. I would recommend this restaurant to friends and family. Come on a empty stomach. This was a great find in Buffalo 🦬.
Betty's is amazing. Super eclectic location (especially for suburbanites like our party of 6), fantastic and diverse menu that is fun to peruse. Food delivers the goods on portion size, taste and hotness. Every time I come to Betty's I am reminded how great it is and look forward to coming again!
Our first time trying Betty's let me just say this the best hidden gem in Buffalo. A huge shout out that the food accommodates to vegans/vegetarians. The service was amazing along with the food. I will definitely be coming back to Betty's again.
We've been living in Buffalo a few years, this is THE spot we go to for breakfast. Decent prices, generous portions, lots of vegan options. The server, Brian, is our fav and a total hoot!
The food and atmosphere was perfect. They have meat, vegan and vegetarian options. We had John K as our server and he did a wonderful job. The place was extremely busy, but it did not feel like we were rushed or that we had to wait. I can see why they won so many awards!
This is a great breakfast spot. The ambience is eclectic with locals and nonnative alike. The service was stellar and Brian was most attentive. The food tasted better than the photos suggest. I would recommend the French toast because it was prepared with just enough time in the egg bath for the bread to soak up the goodness but not too long to become overly soggy.
Great place for brunch, had an amazing Tofu Hash, with added Chorizo Sausage Gravy. It was fantastic, though may have been too dry if I hadn't added the gravy. This has been our favorite restaurant in Buffalo. Great vibes, great service, and our server had on a Powerpuff sweatshirt, which was sick as hell! I did think the cocktails were so-so. Definitely think the Cold Brew Negroni needs some kind of adjustment for flavor, or just taken off the menu. Great value and great food!
I was passing through Buffalo and spotted Betty’s on the map. I almost skipped it because of the area and parking, but I’m so glad I didn’t! The breakfast was amazing, and the potatoes were absolutely incredible. The staff were super friendly and gave excellent service. I’ll definitely be coming back the next time I’m in Buffalo!
What an amazing find! Betty’s is everything you want in a neighborhood cafe. Set in a Historic, character filled building. A menu that is traditional and creatively eclectic. John the waiter recommended the biscuits and chorizo gravy or the shrimp and grits. I opted for the gravy and biscuits which I never order. It was incredibly good. The sausage is made on site and the gravy is available for takeout. I am not sure when I will be back in town, but when I am, I will be back at Betty’s! Great food, great service, and an awesome setting! ❤️
Passing through Buffalo and came across Betty’s on maps. Almost passed up on this place because of the area and parking but decided to go anyways. Amazing breakfast and the potatoes were incredible! The staff were very friendly and provided great service! Will come back next time I pass through Buffalo.
Had breakfast here with the gf. If you have to wait on weekends to get a table, be patient, it is well worth the wait. Bottomless coffee was delicious. We had French toast, sausage, eggs & home fries and gf had break-a-(something), can't remember as it was on their specialty brunch menu. Highly recommend. Will be back!!!
Betty's is in my old neighborhood and my favorite breakfast & brunch spot. It's so Cozy here! Besides how friendly and down to earth everyone is, many of the servers have their artwork on the walls (changed out around every month). It's very laid-back, incredible food, decor and background music is perfect. They change out their cocktail menu regularly and are themed for holidays. They have really unique combinations of ingredients and I would honestly say you can't go wrong with whatever you decide on. They don't serve dinner anymore, so make sure you go earlier in the day. Parking can be tricky, it's easier for us because I know my way around but you may need to walk a block or two. Definitely worth it!!
My husband and I are always looking for new breakfast places to visit on our Wednesday morning dates. Today we chose to drive up to Betty's. It's not an area we are too familiar with as we are from the southtowns. Parking on a Wednesday was easy though, and we got a spot right outside the door. We were greeted with friendly staff and sat at our table. Hot coffees and water were instantly brought over, and then we ordered. I was very excited to see shrimp and grits on the menu. I've never had it the way it came, which was served in a cake like square piece of grits with cheese on top, and the shrimp and jalapeño on the side. I also choose two over easy eggs and corn bread. I've only had grits with more of a softer, texture but I did enjoy the way they served it. Both my eggs and the cornbread were as expected and good. I forgot the exact name of my husband's order but it was a special and was something like caramel apple French toast casserole. He really enjoys sweet for breakfast and this hit the spot. It was huge. He chose fruit instead of home fries for the side. All in all, we very much enjoyed our breakfast, will add it to our list of places to visit again, and will be back.
I needed a place to stop for breakfast on my way through Buffalo. Got lucky and found this place on Google. 10/10! Great service, cool atmosphere, and excellent food! The chorizo biscuits and gravy are delicious, and now one of my favorite breakfast dishes ever. Ever! And I'm a breakfast lover. Wish I lived closer! Will make a point to stop again if I'm ever in the area!! Highly recommended!
We came here for a Saturday morning breakfast. It's a popular place so our wait was around 20-25 minutes for a table of four. Quicker if you're looking for a table of two. Servers were great. Kept our coffees topped up. The food was good. It looked like they had farmers sausages which were delicious. The only comment I would add is to fill up the orange juice cups closer to the top. Lots of space left for juice. The place has nice bathrooms. Plenty of parking in the area too.

This place is so popular that we waited about a half hour and were totally glad that we did. Food was excellent. Service was great. Not a bad thing to say about it.
I’m on my way to Rochester, NY for a business trip, and decided to stop in Buffalo for lunch. I found Betty's after a quick Google search for vegan wings in Buffalo. While the wings were ok the star of the show was the Beefless weck! This is their vegan version of Beef on Weck which is famous in western New York. I’m so excited to know a vegan version of this exists! I would have given it 5 stars if the wings were on par with the Beefless Weck. Deb was my server, and she was very friendly and pleasant! The atmosphere is pretty cool as you can tell it’s a really old renovated building. I would definitely visit again.
It's always been quintessential for me to have Breakfast when i am in the US . For me it's always a good experience But as it is Said look at the world through the eyes of people whom you know or talking to. This Breakfast which I had let me assess from the view of various people sitting There The Eatery is full of energy and Lively atmosphere everyone was More of Relaxing than eating Though the food is Sumptuous I have enjoyed a lot the Taste is fantastic likewise the ambience and parking.wanna visit this place again later possibly next year.
Came here with my friend for her birthday for Sunday Brunch. They don't take reservations for weekend brunch. It was my first time here. They only do reservations Monday-Friday. It was really busy when I got there at Noon...it was a 35 minute wait. There is no where to park...good luck with parking on the streets. The food was good I ordered shrimp and grits. The birthday girl ordered the same with french toast. We also had apple cider/pineapple mimosas. We had a good time.
Came here for breakfast while visiting Niagara Falls. Everyone enjoyed their food and the serving size was perfect. Prices are good, not expensive at all. The only thing was that the meat from the carnitas con huevos was a little dry but the home fries, bacon, and maple syrup were delicious.
Today was the second time to this restaurant for me (as far as I can remember) and I must say I’m so glad I went here! My sisters and my aunt accompanied me here today. They all loved the food so much! My aunt got their vegan pizza. My twin sister got their Scrambled Tofu Hash. My younger sister got their vegan Buffalo Chicken wyngz which is seitan-based wings! I just got their classic breakfast which was delicious! Their homefries is the best that I have ever had! As usual for when we get homefries at a place, my twin sister and I got avocado and onions with our home fries! My twin sister also got tofu with her homefries! On a different note, the service was good, not the best that I’ve ever had at a restaurant but certainly not bad at all! In all, the food is amazing but a bit pricey. The food we got plus the drinks (orange juice, mimosa, and tea) cost just a bit over $100 which was surprising but hey really good food is expensive nowadays. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT! 4 stars because it’s expensive and while the service was good, it wasn’t exceptional!
The servers have a difficult task. They mostly seemed on the ball and we’re wonderful. I think ours was having a tough day. The food is excellent and high quality. So many creative dishes. But their iced coffee sucked (weak and didn’t taste like coffee. They should consider a simple syrup to sweeten it). My mom loved her cocktail. The parking is insane and the GPS takes you on the wrong approach. I ended up driving around the block and it’s extremely hard to find a spot in this residential neighborhood.
A pretty good spot! The turkey hash was delicious and was full of flavor. My girlfriend doesn't like sweet potatoes, but she loved this dish. The cheeseburger was a good bite. The beef was tasty and the bread and veggies were fresh. The broccoli cheddar soup had a good flavor but it wasn't what I expected. Compared to more traditional recipes, this rendition of the soup was too watery. It had the taste, but not the satisfying texture. Our hostess (Marnie) and waiter (Ted) were excellent and the service was great!
We got there a little after opening on Sunday morning. They cannot serve alcohol till 10am. The place got very busy (but it was the morning of the St Patrick's Day parade) The staff was friendly and helpful. There was a short wait for our food. The French toast tasted like home made cinnamon bread! It was soft and fluffy...so good. The chicken and waffles were good too! They have a good mimosa/drink special list. Will definitely be going back.
Betty's is a Buffalo staple and worth a visit! Their portions and pricing are great. Our waitress was newer and didn't know the menu well so ordering was a little confusing. I got the scrambled tofu hash (she didn't seem to know what that was) and my boyfriend ordered the corn beef hash. He enjoyed his meal and mine was okay. A little too spicy, in the wrong ways, and the cornbread it came with was very dry. I will say, the tofu and potatoes were cooked perfectly! In the past, I've just ordered a regular breakfast with eggs and toast and that's always been enjoyable. Overall, our waitress was very friendly - just learning, and the food was alright.
Very good sausage and cheese omelette. Very good coffee too. Great service. Lots of seating. Street parking.
Great specials, service and atmosphere. Went here for breakfast. I had a waffle special and friend has a French toast casserole that was amazing!
Excellent choice here. Service was excellent. The decor is really cool! The food was superb. I had black beans and rice. Awesome. I really enjoyed it. Layed back atmosphere here
Food was great, but the service was poor. The utensils had stains on them I had to request my waitress to replace them two times, each time she came back with more stained utensils. She wasn't even checking them herself. I then had to stand up and ask another waitress to help with the issue, and she came back out with 5 forks/knives, put them on the table and basically said "this is the best we can do". I had to sift through those find a decent set and placed the rest away from the table. Never had food at a restaurant with this lack of the basics of customer service. Evidently, they had a systemic issue with the dishwasher that needed attention - but the fact that their staff didn't even act apolegitically about the issue, or fix properly right away is beyond unacceptable.
Lots of great reviews on here and also a strong recommendation from the staff at our hotel, but if I'm being totally honest, I was a bit disappointed. We got there at around 11:30 on a Sunday morning and were told that there would be about a half hour wait. I wouldn’t have thought any of it if it weren’t for the fact that there were more than a few empty tables…I guess the kitchen was backed up. Not a big deal, considering I sort of expected a wait. Anyways, our hostess was super-friendly and good enough to hold our spot even though I hadn’t gotten back from picking up our car (long story) and they require everyone in the party to be there before being seated (which I don’t remember ever happening to me before but again, no big deal in the end). Also on the plus side is the fact that it’s a really nice looking place with great ambiance, in a nice looking area. On the downside, I was fairly unimpressed with both the food and the service. I’m always going to give a wide berth to a popular breakfast spot on a Sunday morning but even with that in consideration, the service was a bit on the pokey side. Even more egregious, I don’t think our waitress smiled at us even once nor made any other attempt at being at all engaging. She may have been having a bad day but still, it sticks out as some of the surliest service I’ve had in a good while. As for the food, my wife enjoyed her Smoked Salmon Benedict but I was really not a fan of the Breakfast Burrito at all. The thing seemed to be mostly tortilla and onions with perhaps one small egg in there somewhere. Even salsa, hot sauce and sour cream did little to help. Just as bad were the home fries. They appeared to have doused with oil and were not especially well seasoned. Again, they were quite liberally tossed with onions…I’m someone who likes onions, but this was really too much. Needless to say, I didn’t finish my meal and this was after night of bar hopping when I really needed a good breakfast. Yikes. I really, really wanted to like Betty’s but the only thing saving it from a two-star review is the décor, the lovely hostess and that my wife didn’t find it nearly as bad as I did.
We had an amazing experience at Betty’s until one comment by staff left us uncertain if we would return. Upon arrival to the restaurant, we were promptly greeted by a pleasant woman with short gray hair who appeared to be the manager. She sat us expeditiously and transitioned our care to one of the servers. Our server was phenomenal. He didn’t let a single water run dry without a refill, he made sure our coffee was piping hot with frequent warm-ups, pre-bussed dishes no later than the last morsel of food left the plate, and he had a welcoming and humorous personality. Food came out exactly to order and in a timely fashion, we were checked on regularly, and pricing was very reasonable. Fast forward to the end of our meal. We had just paid the check, and we were preparing to depart but my wife had just gotten up to use the bathroom quickly. As we were engaged in positive talk about our experience, in a classic jinx, we were approached by the woman that originally sat us. The woman who, again, seemed to be the manager and was very pleasant early on. However, I immediately observed her affect had transitioned from warm and welcoming to petulant and irritable. She sharply asked us if there was anything else we needed, and we politely declined. Before we had any opportunity to explain we were just waiting on my wife in the restroom and then would quickly be on our way, she began walking away. As she was walking away, under her breath, but intently in earshot of our table, she muttered “huge line up front.” The 10 second interaction immediately made us feel bothersome and unwanted, and we proceeded to leave the establishment and waited outside in the snow for my wife, who had to walk outside without her coat because we had to remove it from the table. It should be noted that our meal was far from a protracted course of conversation and lollygagging. We ordered drinks, ate our meals, paid the bill, and were imminently departing when this late interaction occurred. Furthermore, we had no insight into the line up front as we had no view of the front, or else we would have further expedited our time there. If she was simply forthcoming about the situation and politely asked us to wrap up given the lengthy line up front, that would have been completely understandable and reasonable. But instead, we were met with curt and taciturn tactics that left us reluctant to return.
The food was fairly good—nothing particularly special, but no complaints. Our server, a gentleman, was kind. However, a woman with short hair (perhaps the manager?) rushed us out fairly abruptly and unceremoniously (i.e., rudely) only a few minutes after we received our check. By no means were we lingering—all in all, we had been at the table for about an hour in total and had ordered both food and drinks. I’ve never had that happen before. Probably won’t go back only because I don’t like to feel pressured to dine and dash.
Meh, I was not super impressed with Betty's. No reservations on weekends and they won't seat you until your whole party is there. A lot of people, so I'm sure the hostess was stressed and it definitely reflected in her attitude towards incoming guests. Service was pretty slow, but again, that's probably because it was busy. Portion size and price were decent, but the food was not great -- I tried the turkey hash and I would not recommend. The atmosphere was nice though, and I liked that we could get outdoor seating. First and probably last time visiting here.
Giving a three star for the servers and the atmosphere. But I will not be back here. Need accurate food menus. Ordered Shrimp and grits with the expectation it was going to be served traditionally. Instead I got a weird textured, dry, gross, dehydrated grit cake. You need to specify things like that on the menu otherwise I would not have ordered it.
Betty’s is an iconic Buffalo local with a historic past…and in the heart of a residential neighbourhood, you have to know where you’re going to get there. Street parking was tight but on weekends t…
When expectations ARE exceeding the reality and all the reviews. We Visited Betty’s for the first time on Friday morning (11:30ish). The decision was based on the reviews and referrals as one of the best breakfast places in Buffalo. So ... the first impression is everything, right? We were told by a bartender that the hostess will be right with us ... and again.. and again.. ... Ourselves and other 2 couples were waiting and keep waiting for at least 10 minutes to get her attention. Oh no, I’m not overreacting. The place was only 20% busy. As soon as we were sat, Mag the waitress (you are the only reason for an additional star) took care of everything from now on. The food and drinks arrived. Drinks were not bad, but food was definitely on the worse diner level minus 5 stars. $15 Avocado Smoked Salmon toast was definitely lacking some avocado and lox. One tiny piece of a smoked salmon and a bit of avocado with a huge tomate and lots of alfalfa sprouts. A sad burned home fries next to it made a perfect match. Scrambled Mess omelette was definitely good friend of another portion of the sad burned home fries. Sorry , but I don’t think it’s a best or even good place to eat, unless there are no other options.
Ordered spanakopita with potatoes. Potatoes were dry, cold and burnt, spanakopita was cold, dry (over cooked) and flavorless very disappointed for $16 each. Atmosphere was ok but needs sound dampening, it was hard to have a conversation 😕
We went there for breakfast on a Friday morning. I ordered the biscuits with sausage gravy which comes with two over-easy eggs. If I had known the eggs were served on top of the biscuits then covered in an orange colored gravy, I would never have gotten this dish. I didn't like the gravy at all. The hash brown potatoes were not crispy and had an odd seasoning. My husband had a breakfast sandwich with the hash browns. He didn't like either and left most of it. With beverages our meal was $43.00 plus a tip. Mediocre at best and should have just went to McDonald's. I should note that the reason we went there was because of all the nice positive reviews. Maybe we should have just gotten something different
Possibly the worst hostess service ever. We came on a busier Saturday afternoon but there was no line when we arrived. The hostess seemed annoyed as soon as we opened the door and proceeded the brief interactions we had with her with short snappy answers as if asking for a table was inconveniencing her. The server was wonderful, quick and food was fine (although I did order eggs Benedict that came without hollandaise sauce but flavors were fine). We will never be going back to Betty's unfortunately because of the unwelcoming atmosphere and long wait time even when there was no line and plenty of tables open.
I took my wife to Betty for her Birthday. That was a bad decision. The Chicken fingers were precooked and had to be warmed up in the oven. My daughter ordered shrimp and grits. The shrimps were over cooked. An employee stated that she never recommends the chicken fingers because they don't make them. My wife had a grill chicken sandwich and it was over cooked and tuff. The ice tea was water favored tea. We tipped the waiter and paid the 76 dollar bill and took the meals home to be thrown out. I don't complain but this time had to say something. This was my wife's Birthday. We should have went to Wendy's
Very rude to my wife & I the moment we walked in. Made several rude comments regarding our baby, without realizing both her parents are nurses, and know proper child care. Wanted to take the time to seem “better” than the people she was seating, followed by several smug comments
We were excited about trying a local favorite for breakfast and we were treated and greeted very poorly. We waited for 10 min and mind you the restaurant was far from full and we finally had a server with attitude when we asked for a table for 5. We waited another 5-7 min and no one approached us again so we ended up leaving. What a shame…
Disappointing Experience on My Birthday My boyfriend and I came to Buffalo to celebrate my 21st birthday, which unfortunately started off rough when our car broke down nearby. While waiting for a tow, we decided to stop by this place for a mimosa to lift our spirits. When I arrived, I politely asked if I could set my things down at the bar, and the woman I believe to be the owner told me no -- which is fine -- but her tone felt unnecessarily short and dismissive. I asked if there was a wait for drinks, and she replied, "If you can get my bartender's attention, sure, but we're really busy." I told her that was fine and that I was happy to wait. A few minutes later, she returned to tell me she couldn't seat us "for just two drinks." I explained again that I completely understood and was content waiting at the bar. She then came back once more and said, "You know what, never mind -- we're not going to accommodate you for drinks." I've worked in restaurants and even managed one, so I completely understand how stressful a busy service can be -- but that doesn't excuse being dismissive or rude to guests who are polite and patient. Another person waiting nearby shared she had been treated the same way, which made me realize this wasn't just me. I can't speak for the bartenders or servers, who seemed fine, but the interaction with the host/owner left a really sour impression. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and remembers that kindness and professionalism go a long way -- especially when guests are being understanding and respectful
