amazing food! hot and delicious! wings were perfect! we will be back. worth every trip to stop by here to eat!
My favorite restaurant on Hertel Avenue offering appetizers to three course meals. Beer for the sports fan and friendly, professional service by waitress or bartender. Connection to Bob & John's a bonus.
Had fishfry, French dip and Roastbeef plater with mash potatoes. All were Delicious and the Beef was like butter . So good!
Great prices, huge portions, and very good quality food. One of the old 'hole in the wall' pubs that is still serving great food and drinks to the community who knows them. Recommended for small groups and friendly get togethers.
Extremely delightful great down to earth food! Black & Blue filet steak sub out of this world w/ house cut fries ! Pot Roast sandwich & Hot Roast Beef Sandwich Home Run, my go to place now Buffalo,go Wellington Pub !
One of the best bars in Buffalo, NY! The food is, as you'd expect, bar food, but it's the best bar food in the city. French dip is amazing and the wings are definitely in the top 5 you will find in Buffalo. Bartenders and servers are super nice. It's currently my go to place for guys night out. Thank you Wellington Pub!
Great atmosphere and even better food! If you like a spicy burger and some good beer they have an outstanding cajun 5 alarm. The fish was just perfect, and the sides, mmm. Definitely go here. The wait was a bit long because of how busy it was, but it wasn't a problem, the staff are pleasant and just... Just go to this place.
I went to Wellington a couple of times recently and have been very satisfied. I get the sense that they have a strong regular crowd, but as a relative stranger I have always felt welcomed and the service has been great. The wings are fantastic, especially with the deal they have on Mondays. You can't get much better bang for your buck!
Best hamburgers in Buffalo! Last time I went, on a Wednesday, we were told by a waitress the kitchen closed at 9 but on the website it said it closed at 10. Not sure what's right but most pub kitchens close at 10 on a weekday and later in the weekend. While frustrating, still love the food, service, and vibe, great staple in North Buffalo!
Found this one online at work looking up places with good burgers. They did not disappoint at all I ordered a Cajun burger and would get it again anytime! Another guy at work got the burger that's in-between 2 grilled cheese sandwiches and that looked delicious I will be going back to order that for myself!
Had a WONDERFUL time here. The first thing my mother-in-law (who is English) said was that it looked and felt just like the sort of pub you’d see in the UK. The service was great, the food was yummy, and the staff was very attentive and accommodating of my little one, affording a colouring sheet and crayons and a little space for him to expend his energy when he was getting a bit restless (note that this isn’t a designated area for children if you’re imagining/expecting that from this review; it was just another dining area and I believe they only offered that space because the pub was still empty enough at that point). My family and I didn’t plan on stopping by here initially, but we are SO happy that we did. We definitely have plans to come back one day. Would most definitely recommend. :))
Neighborhood staple. My home is in walking distance, I've literally been here close to 100 times. Whether for happy hour, beers and wings on wing night ( Mondays), dinner with family, dinner with friends, late night beers, dinner with the parents. Wings are great. Ask me about anything on the menu and my response would almost always be "it's good, order it." Good pub through and through.
Fun, casual atmosphere with great service. Our fish fry's were delicious, not greasy, and just the right size. Will definitely go back!
Best fockin wings in Western New York…. Fight me! No but for real every sauce is delicious the wings are meaty and huge and perfectly crisp. Always get takeout and it never disappoints!
Excellent food. Been here twice so far. Just moved nearby. Great quality fresh sandwiches. Very good saturday evening bartender named Chris. He gave fast friendly service which is getting harder to find. Will definitely be returning for his shifts.
A North Buffalo staple. Every time I'm in town I stop in. They have mastered some WNY original dishes. From the fish fry to wings to Beef on Weck... Every bite is what you've been craving. Thank you to Kim for such a great time on the front patio. It was truly a picturesque summer afternoon.
My husband and I come here a few times a month and every time we are met with incredible service and food. It’s your basic pub food and it’s always so tasty! I always recommend the Well.
One of the best places for food. They have some great specials. If you are a fan of eating a big burger, I would definitely recommend the monster burger or the top of the morning, but don't miss out on the steaks sandwiches!
This is one of the hidden gems. Real Buffalonians know about this. The wings are some of the best in the city. Service is friendly and fast. It's one of Hertel Strips premium locations. The signature drinks are not expensive and they change them each season. The Strawberry Mule, best in WNY!
The steak sandwich is really good. When you order medium rare, it actually comes medium rare. Food is delicious, staff very friendly, drinks are done right. Enough said
This place has amazing food. They make a killer Reuben and don't skimp on ingredients or portions. The wings are on point too. I've had the French Onion soup many times and it's top of the line & meets the standard for Buffalo food excellence. If you're really hungry, try the burger where the bun is 2 grilled cheese sandwiches.. so good! I could go on and on, but you get the point. Delicious 👌
Just happened to walk by and stopped for lunch. Lots if choices on the menu, tuna melt and patty melt on sourdough were fabulous. Melissa was professional, friendly and spot on with her service, took great care of everyone, she is efficient and personable. Good value too!
Been coming here for 5+ years now as I live in the hertel area. In all of my times here I have always had attentive, awesome service. Even when the servers were noticeably busy, they still have been amazing. Their French onion soup is my favorite!
When you go to the Wellington expect to be overwhelmed by the quality of service and food. I had the Fish Fry on Friday. It was hands down the best fish I ever ate. It was crunchy from the first bite to the last. It was cooked to perfection. The mash potatoes were fabulous as well. Caitlin made our time spent at the Wellington special. She is on point.
My first time eating here was great! We were a party of five and were seated within a few minutes of arriving. The restaurant was busy but our server was attentive with drinks and orders. I recommend the turkey bacon club wrap! I will definitely be going back 👍🏻
As a life long resident of Buffalo this is one of the best wing spots in the city. Top 3 in my book. Consistently good. Staff is always prompt and friendly. Prices are affordable and haven’t had a bad item on the menu. Highly recommend!
This place is a Buffalo institution, one of those wonderful little “hole in the wall“ places with really good food and service. Our waitress was one of the most delightful human beings I’ve ever had the pleasure of being waited on. Chicken wings, beef on weck, fish fry are all really excellent. Also, some really great steak sandwiches.
Bar restaurant on the Hertel strip. I go for the fish fry. And let me tell you that it is fantastic. Friday nights are very busy here but the staff are super friendly and work hard to get you a seat fast and take care of you while you are there. My wife goes for the steak sandwich. Yea,... that's pretty darn good too.
Absolutely delicious! We ordered pretzel bites with Guinness cheese sauce, French onion soup, a dinner salad, and a monster burger. I didn't know a soft pretzel could be so good oh my God. Also... I don't say this lightly.... That burger is the best burger I have ever had hands down. Can't wait to go back!
Went there at 6pm on a Friday night of a holiday weekend. It was busy but the service was fast. Ordered the French onion soup and the Greek style fish with bacon potato salad. Everything was fantastic. The only issue was parking but that is not the restaurant's fault and totally expected given the area. Will definitely go again even though it's about a 30 minute drive.
This is an outstanding lunch spot. The beef-on-wick was the best I have ever had but all the orders at our table got praised-everyone was very pleased. The waitress was so efficient there was no delay getting food or checks&change back--this pub is a ten-star lunch spot when I'm in Buffalo and the zoo.
We stopped for a late lunch on Saturday. Allie was welcoming and handled the room effortlessly. The French onion soup is a hit. I also had the apple salad and my husband had the tenders and onion rings. Everything was delicious and portions are generous. Would definitely stop there again when in Buffalo!
I have been to the Pub over 30 times and every single time has been great. Every food item I have tried is delicious, the service has always been wonderful and quick. I even went there on my 21st birthday and the bartender was super nice and I had a fun time. All the seasonal foods are amazing. I recommend the pub to everyone visiting buffalo and all my friends.
Not only was the food fantastic, we had the best waitress! She was soooo nice and attentive, gave us lots of recommendations when we asked and then even came back to our table with the name of a spot north of Niagara that she suggested after we told her we were visiting and heading up to the falls. It turned out to be an amazing recommendation! We had wings (hot garlic Parmesan, medium Buffalo & Cajun) and the Beef Weck. If we are ever back in Buffalo, we’ll definitely stop here again!
Great wings. Great service.
By far some of Buffalos best chicken wings!! The service is great. We order ours a little crispy and they never disappoint
First time in with friends and we can't wait to go back. Stopped in for lunch after a chilly bike ride and a few other spots being closed due to it being Sunday. Great location and amazing service - Lauren was very warm and we felt so taken care of. Was excited to try their Beef on weck and it did not disappoint- generous portions and the meat was crazy thin and tender. Paired it with a cup of chili, French onion, and their soup of the day (Potato Leek) and the chili & FO were especially delicious. Prices reasonable and the vibe was great. Can't wait to try out the Fish Fry and wings too - thanks a lot guys for an awesome meal and experience :)
Delicious wings and cider with a fun bartender!
Sunday evening we (6 golf couples = 12) came in and enjoyed a wonderful experience. Earlier I'd spoken to "Keith", and he expected we could use the "back room." We did, it was great. Everyone in the group really enjoyed their food. The kitchen staff came out with our food, all at the same time!! Best for last, our server Raheen (sp?) was fantastic!!!! He worked very hard, keeping orders straight, and checks separated. Thanks, again, Raheen, and everyone!!!!
Love this place. Come here at least once a week. Wings are always delicious, probably some of the most underrated in Buffalo. Fish Fry slaps. Pub food done right. Staff is friendly and service is always good.
There's a reason they've been here for decades. Wonderful staff in a time when that seems impossible; sandwiches that don't quit (try the local legend or the pot roast); great fingers and wings; and a the best bar atmosphere you'll find anywhere. Come in on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch with all of regulars and Kristen - the best bartender in Buffalo - and you're as like to hear the Greatful Dead over the speakers as anything else. If you want to know North Buffalo there is simply no better place to go.
My first time eating at the Wellington pub and it won’t be the last. My Greek wrap and Cajun fries were delicious. Overall, great service and food. Good music and vibes. Highly recommend
Good food, great service. Bar seating and table seating. Crowded at the bar but tonight table service area
Beef on Weck was great good verity of beer. Enjoyed pizza logs for the first time would recommend it to anyone.
Service was amazing and this is an outstanding location with great atmosphere as a local Pub and Restaurant. Many of the customers appeared to be locals just like in the series "Cheers". Friendly, comfortable, great character as a pub and large portions of the food. I definitely would recommend this location. Only downside is street parking is a challenge, but worth it.
Looking for a cozy date night spot with a classic pub vibe and plenty of sit-down dinner space? I graduated from a college just around the corner and always thought this place looked so cute—I used to wonder what the vibe inside was really like. Fast forward to date night, and boom—this place came to mind! The service was awesome, and everything we ordered was so fresh and flavorful. We started with the Galactic Cheese Bread, and let me tell you—we were still talking about that bread days later. Absolutely delicious! I had the chicken finger wrap (a favorite of mine), and it did not disappoint. My husband ordered wings and was thrilled—he said this spot is officially going into our regular rotation. If you’re nearby and looking for great food, good portions, and a chill atmosphere, this place checks all the boxes. Can’t wait to go back
Busy, atmosphere filled bar/restaurant and local gem. Went here during lent for a fish fry and it was truly excellent! Fish was cooked perfectly. Batter was crisp and not overwhelming. Good amount of fries and sides. As a British person who has been trying to find a good "fish and chip" spot for years (like, 17 years!) this place has won my heart. Parking on side streets recommended. This place gets very busy on Friday night and weekends. Arrive early!
This is a must visit every time I’m in Buffalo (3x a year, at least). I always get the buffalo shrimp - I refuse to share and honest to God salivate when I am making the 6.5 hour drive from where I live in MD. The drinks are delicious, every server friendly and the food knocks it out of the park. I’ve brought 3 friends with me in the past to eat too, from MD, and no matter the dish - it’s a hit. A must stop.
Fantastic pub with a nice atmosphere. My husband and I went there last night for a date. I cannot recommend this place enough. When we walked in, we were greeted by a boisterous Friday evening crowd. The first thing I noticed was the well stocked bar. It is a little cramped between the bustling wait staff and the patrons, but it's manageable to navigate. We made our way to the back area to put our name in for a table in the seating area, and then went up to the bar to get ciders while we waited. Their drink menu is fairly comprehensive - a good amount of beers on tap and bottled, wines, cocktails, sodas...you'll definitely find something to drink. While waiting for a table (about 20 minute wait) I saw parents with small children, so it's definitely family friendly. The seating area is fairly large with two distinct sections (a front area and back area). We were seated in the back. There was a large family (15 people or so) that night so I think if you call ahead, they'll have a seat ready for larger groups. Plenty of tvs on with hockey for the sports fans as well! Onto the food. The menu is your standard pub faire- appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, and fish fries. Sides included potatoes, potato chips, bacon, french fries, etc. You have the ability to order alcoholic or nonalcoholic drinks and dessert as well (we skipped dessert though). My husband ordered the Monster burger (a burger served between two grilled cheese sandwiches) and I got the Beef on Weck. Our appetizer was an order of 10 medium spiced wings. Delicious food. The time between ordering and receiving food was an hour but we did go at the busiest time for food (6:30-8) so we expected a wait. Nonetheless, they didn't charge us for the drink I ordered, which was very nice. Cost: ~$7 per cider, $19 for the monster, $12 for the Beef on Weck, $15 for the wings. We tipped 25% as well because our server was awesome and attentive even in the craziest time of the night. (Ally? I think?...I'm sorry ma'am, I cannot remember your name but you deserve a raise). It was a lovely date experience and I cannot wait to go back.
It is a local buffalo flavored tavern with wonderfully friendly staff, fresh food prepared to perfection and priced reasonably. It was the ideal place for this traveling Texan to meet s bunch of nice, over taxed, frozen locals who only looked mildly amused by the cowboy hat, boots and big Texas buckle. I will stop in again when I chance to wander through again...
Stopped in for a friday fish fry with the wife. Everyone was friendly. Pretty clean inside. Fish fry was pretty good. Had a great time. Good selection of beers. Always a good time on hertel.
I usually attend Wellington Pub for Wing Night on Mondays with a group of friends. Their chicken wings are roughly half off ($10 for a single order) and they also provide $5 pitchers of beer to wash them down. Service is really hit or miss sometimes but that is mostly because it is a very busy night for them. The waitresses have gotten much better since I first started going to Wellington. Most of the food items are good but some things can be a bit salty like the french onion soup or Cajun shrimp. I will always return for Wing Night, though.
Went out for some drinks and wings last night. Wings were very crispy and saucy. Had a really good local beer selection. I've had their takeout before but dining in house was better and we really enjoyed it.
The food was delicious, and the drinks were nice too. My friend and I had a table with food and drinks and were there for quite a while and no one rushed us. The atmosphere was excellent. Everything came quickly despite being fairly busy. Definitely will visit again.
Good "pub" atmosphere with friendly, efficient service. We both had the pot roast sandwich which is very tastey. Also a cup of chilli that had just enough heat to be good. Good choice for a cozy place to eat or have a drink at the crowded bar.
Small, quaint place. Large bar, handful of tables. Service was excellent, my Greek wrap was lacking in flavor, but substituted side of chips for veggies and they were great!
All has changed in dining due to Covid, we have to be more patient and understanding. Decent Pub-fare, reasonable drink prices and most importantly, great servers. Dined on patio during a light rain and it was lovely.
This place is great! Went to meet a bunch of friends after work. Food was not as good as it was in the past, roast beef was cold and chewy, the drinks were cold, our server Mel was great. A local establishment and staple of Hertle Ave. A must do when you're visiting the city.
Loved the environment. We had the French onion soup & a hot roast beef sandwich. The food itself was solid, nothing to write home about. Service was quick, and they have TVs facing nearly every direction. Seems to be the place to go for Sundays wings!
A wonderful North Buffalo establishment. They offer solid pub style food in an old Buffalo type of atmosphere. The French fries, when fresh are outstanding. I took a star off because they never quite seem to have a beer I really feel like drinking. Overall a good place to get a melt or some chicken wings and hang out.
Food was great! Beef on weck, chicken wings, steak sandwich were all perfectly cooked and tasted great. Service was so unsatisfactory and the waitress truly gave a lackluster effort. I will gladly go to this place again as long as I get a different server.
Good food overall, nicely cooked chicken sandwich and burger. Burger could have used a bit more flavor, but overall, a good spot.
Great food, a little loud with all the hard surfaces bouncing sound everywhere. Biggest complaint: $1.50 up-charge for swapping cocktail sauce with tartar sauce and $1.50 up-charge for a little more 1000 island dressing! Come on guys… you used to be better. Update: we used to go a couple times a month. One of the best steak sandwiches I’ve had but they’ve priced it way past what I’m willing to pay for a steak sandwich that doesn’t even include fries. So I ordered a Blue cheese burger, medium. Disappointed again. It was well done and the Blue Cheese was a teaspoon of salad dressing! Bad form for one of the long standing restaurants on Hertel Ave. Can’t really recommend it to friends anymore. Hope they get back to the quality and pricing they used to have.
Buffalo institution serving classic bar food and good draft beers. A big plus for being open on Sunday which is becoming more rare in today’s culture. Great service.
Ate lunch on the patio. Started with french onion soup. I can be picky with my french onion but the broth had good flavor & cheese was perfect golden brown. Croutons were a little bready, toasting might help but still good. Reuben was piled high, toasted perfectly, good ratio of sauerkraut & dressing. Cajun fries were tasty with perfect crisp. Server was attentive. Really enjoyed lunch. Will have to come back on a Wednesday or Friday to try the seafood chowder.
The burgers are kinda dry and They used to have to an incredible Reuben but the last 3 times i got it the corn beef was so tough you couldnt bite through it and they dont even bother to cut the sandwich anymore. Major Bummer.
The food was pretty good. And the service was even better. They're desperately overdue for a remodel & makeover. Get some more tables for seating in there!
I rarely write a review lower then 4 stars because I am in the business. With that said we had a large table for lunch here and unfortunately it ended up being a two hour lunch. We had just come from a volunteer day for our company and we were all starving and tired so that didn't help. There was one server on and she did get quite slammed with a couple other large tables before we arrived. (We had called ahead) the issue wasn't even the length of time to get our order as much as it was how long it took to prepare it which was almost an hour. The food was decent and the server did her best to make sure we were taken care of. The only reason I am even posting this is because most of my party was quite displeased with how our lunch went and could not wait for it to be over. I don't feel this is the way things typically go here but if you are on a time crunch you might want to avoid for lunch if they are busy.
The fish fry was great the staff was great. However we waited 80 min for two fish fry. Ordered take-out and was told 40 min but hot there at correct time and waited an additional 40 min.
Our servers/bartender were fantastic but the food was really bad. Very bland and overpriced.
Food is great. Good environment. $8.50 for a Guinness in the wrong glass is criminal though. Will be hard for me to decide to come back here with prices like that. It’s sad because it’s in my neighborhood and it’s the kind of place I’d love to support.
We were there on a Saturday around 3pm. I know it's between lunch and dinner so an odd time but still, the service was soooo slow. We waited a long time for each and every step of the ordering process. My companion said the mens bathroom smelled so strongly he almost had to cover his face. My steak sandwich was delicious but we won't be back.
Unfortunately I recently visited and it took over 45 minutes for our food to come and the place was not busy. The waitress never apologize for the long wait. But when the food did come out I have to say my out-of-town guests were pleased.
We ordered Reuben sandwiches which were dry with few pieces of corned beef and little dressing. The basket of fries arrived 5 minutes after the sandwiches. It was an awful meal for that price.
I paied $28. For 2 fish fries...take out..I picked them up went home...no french fries in either of them...I called to advise and the phone rang for hours..so ikept calling back until finally someone answered. I told the person what happened and gave my information because per the person who took my call advised me that the Manager would call me back the next day.. On 4\12\19, it will be one week. No return call.horrible customer service...I would never recommend them, because they are not concerned aboutt their Patrons. Just making money.
The only time they pick up the phone is to tell you they’re not taking orders at this time and to call them back in about 20 minutes and when you do, they just don’t answer the phone. I can understand a Friday night Considering I manage restaurant but when you walk in and see a half empty dining room to bartenders are all standing on one side of the bar it’s no wonder why phones aren’t gearing answered.
This is honestly the first food review I've ever written in my life. Buffalo born and raised but well traveled. In the mood for a rueban sandwich after hanging out on the canal, never had one at Wellington pub but reviews were good. It was one of the worst ruebans I have ever had. Just trying to help the kitchen out for Today. Don't sell it. Dry as leather corned beef. Absolutely zero taste. Tasted like a sour krout sandwich. Probably to hide the tasteless corned beef. Gave it 1 star for the rye bread which was fresh and excellent. The bartender was very polite and very nice.
I got the local legend and it was horrible. the mix in the peppers was a mystery mix ,the bread was soggy and the steak was tough. Wings were dry and old. Roast beef on wreck was good but the horse radish was not fresh.no pride in the cooking.we will not go back. They need John tafer to do a bar rescue
I ordered 70 chicken wings at this place and got 30 Medium, 20 BBQ, and 20 Mild wings. I got the 30 Medium and 20 Mild but was given 14 BBQ. They shortened me 6 BBQ wings and all 3 flavors were in separate boxes. How can you count 14 BBQ wings in a box from 20 not even close? I called them and they said that the owner would call me tomorrow. I have them my Name and Number for the owner to contact. The owner didn’t even contact me. Then, I called again another day and they told me the same thing that the owner would contact me but they didn’t. Called for the third time a few days later and still nothing happened and told me the same thing that the owner would contact me. Unbelievably bad service.
Server was terrible. She never gave us silverware even after we ordered an app. Had to ask a server passing by. No app plates. Brought us one drink, never checked on our food which was not good and for a fish fry it was small and not tasty. Didn't have anything to drink with our dinner and we sat with our coats on and a credit card visible and waited forever so decided to pay cash so we didn't have to wait any longer. Won't go back again
This place has no class. Messed up my order then refused to make it right for smart with me on the phone. And the food on top of it was just bad. I am not the type of person to ask for free stuff. But I am the type of person to ask for what I ordered and not have to give you more money
They will take your order and when they mess it up they’ll tell you you’re wrong and offer nothing to fix it. On top of that their food is terribly mediocre. Comparable to a white people taco night
We ordered a fish fry and shrimp dinner, neither had any flavor. The cocktail sauce was reddish brown and pasty gel. I once loved this place for its food and atmosphere, what has happened to the food quality. I’m hoping that this was an off day; however I’m reluctant to returning any time soon.
I went there today for a late lunch with my coworkers I order a fish fry but at first bite I could smell a foul smell, the fish was beginning to spoil so I send it back, the waitress was apologetic but it wasn't her fault she doesn't cook, and I wasn't able to stomach any other food...anyhow I'm now feeling ill and my throat developed a raspy feeling 🤢 hopefully it goes away soon, first and last time ever going there again.
Prices are just outrageous. 18$ for a burger with no fries. 16$ for 6 chicken fingers again no fries. Fries can be ordered for 6$ more but at 18$ for a burger it should come with fries.Drink prices are high. Most things on the menu are overpriced. Used to be a family friendly pub but the prices are so ridiculous I probably won’t be bringing my family here anymore
