The Dove Restaurant is highly praised for its excellent food, outstanding service, and generous complimentary courses. Many reviewers specifically mention Lisa as an exceptional server. Some found the service slow, and the hat policy was a point of contention for a few.

Celebrated a b'day with family at an AMAZING restaurant, The Dove!!! (I'm sad to say we just found this GEM and it's been here 15 years!!!) My review... 👏👏👏👏👏 The dining room is nicely appointed, walking in it feels like a "Nite Out" and you know good things are ahead! The tables are spaced, giving each table enough room to enjoy the privacy of their own conversations, an oddity nowaday almost as rare as a Conservative politician in New York! This would be a great date nite or proposal restaurant, especially with their super accommodating staff! The staff alone makes the restaurant worth frequenting! The lighting was appropriate for a romantic evening, while still being bright enough to read the menu. Now for the menu, an addendum before talking food, wear loose fitting clothing! Consider borrowing an outfit from a slightly larger friend! No belts, or anything that ties, or you will be terribly, incredibly, uncomfortable for the ride home! I'm finding writing this difficult enough because I'm so full, it's distracting! On to the food! So much food! We were greeted, seated and ice water, beverages, a variety of piping hot breads with whipped butter and oil magically appeared like they hire mind readers, along with a "sulla casa," learn that meaning, bowl of beautiful meatballs and sauce. Now, I'm not generally a bread person. Let's just say that I could have ended the meal right there! OMG the roll I had!!!!! Our basket had crusty round rolls with cornmeal on the outside, a ciabatta type roll and a short baguette meets breadstick. Did I mention that they were piping hot? As in fresh from the oven! This may have been because we made a reservation? I'll ask next time I'm there, which should be soon! I've heard that they have a wine tasting dinner special on Wednesdays. We ordered our meals, each is served with a salad, their house dressing is a parmesan peppercorn which had no complaints! I asked for the blue cheese crumbles and vinaigrette, and I will every time I'm there! But before our salads arrived, another sulla casa dish arrived, in the form of a beautiful bowl of pasta e fagioli. A soup I don't like. I would order theirs, if they didn't give it to their dinner guests. Just before our plates arrived, our server appeared yet again with a sulla casa limoncello aperitif to cleanse our palate for the main course! And then they arrived! I'm not going to tell you which ones were ordered because I don't want to prejudice your choices. Let's just say that there were no complaints and everyone hummed through each bite! While eating dinner we overheard the dessert selection, as told by another server to a nearby table. We immediately began strategizing how much would be eaten and how much would be tomorrow's lunch! Dessert was heaven! And I have my sole complaint of the nite, the cannolis were perfect, fresh baked shells, filled when they were ordered BUT there were empty spots in the middle of each one. An order is two small cannolis on a prettily decorated plate. They are anything but a disappointment! But they are short enough that they need to be filled. The tiramisu was dreamy! An exceptional nite! I love my family. The best service I can remember in a long time! Great food! Every course! They make you feel like you're dining at a friend's home. AND I had a Groupon! And while the bill was being taken care of our amazing server showed up again with her final sulla casa of our nite, fresh baked Italian sugar cookies gently dusted with powdered sugar! All smiling on the way to the exit, I never dreamt the evening could get better! But it did! As we reached the door our server told us that we could help ourselves to a complimentary bag of that delicious bread! Score! Leftovers for lunch AND sulla casa bread! I'm in heaven.
Great food at a very fair price!! Our server was very attentive and friendly, but, like most places, are stretched thin and have a hard time hiring more people.
Great service and food. Our server surprised us with delicious meatballs, soup, and limoncello prior to our entree. And we received a bag of warm bread on the way out. Would recommend Dove!!
Went here for dinner with my girlfriend. What a fantastic place! It has an old-fashioned high-end vibe combined with old-fashioned service. The food was great but what really put it over the top were all the little extras they gave us. Soup, limoncello and fresh baked cookies were all given to us complimentary at different times during our meal and made us feel like dinner was really an event. Too many places nowadays just rush you in and push you out. They should come to The Dove to take notes on what real service is like.
Best place in town for Italian cuisine! They have a great wine selection with new ones to try all the time and the quality of their food is superb! The flavors make me feel like I’m back inItaly! Love the Dove!
We like to sit in the bar area, the atmosphere is is warm and inviting. However the dinning area is charming and quiet. I highly recommend the Fra Diavlo sauce! The chicken Parm is on point! The calamari was not over cooked, and the homemade house dressing was so good we bought some to take home.
Service was superb. Dinner was delicious. Mildly limited menu due to covid BUT classic Italian meals. Very generous with extras. We were given complimentary meatballs, soup, breads, lemon cello (to cleanse the pallet) and cookies (after dinner) all at no extra cost. The food was delicious. Highly reccommend this hidden gem. Prices ranged $30 per plate give or take. Well worth every penny!!
Amazing Italian food. Huge portions for the money. Great service. 10/10 will return
I've been there twice and got the shrimp scampi each time, and it was great each time. Fresh, warm breadsticks and rolls come before dinner, and I even loved the salad, and I'm not a salad guy. The servers were friendly and treated my companion and I like valued customers.
This is my husband and I's special occasion restaurant, and for good reason -- everything about this place is decadent and such a treat. We both love the chicken parm and the palate cleansers between courses is delicious. Looking forward to another anniversary dinner again here soon.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. I have enjoyed everything i ever ordered. I especially love Wine pairing Wednesdays. It's a surprise dinner paired with a special wine. 3 courses! The food is amazing.
The only place I've had better carbonara is in Italy. Dove has been our go to place for decades. Three course with lemoncello between. All food is high quality. Friendly, efficient service.
Fine dining; Italian/American cuisine. Casual atmosphere. Polite efficient service. Unwind at The Dove and enjoy each course of your meal. We loved the complimentary meatballs, bowl of authentic pasta fagioli, and limencello, offered by the chef, before our entrees were served. Homemade Italian rolls were served with whipped butter, as well as olive oil. The main courses were delicious! The wait staff was professional and attentive, & the owner stopped by our table to say hello. We highly recommend The Dove Restaurant for your next dining experience.
The food was seriously delicious! I loved all the courses too! Everything was great but really enjoyed the clams casino, flounder francaise and giant pork chop. Will definitely be going here more often. 👍
Great Neapolitan restaurant with consistent food, wine, cocktails, and warm service. Whatever your choices for dinner, complimentary fresh bread and meatballs (from their family recipe) when you arrive are just enough to tease your hunger. Permanent menu covers the bases, and they're always experimenting with specials. Bottle of wine plus a couple entrees make a great takeout date night dinner too! Enjoy!
Amazing!!! Been there twice. First time was we just stumbled upon it and we had to go back!! Great Great food!! Good environment! 2nd time....just as great. They don't rush you or your food. You get bread and meatballs to start then soup compliments of the chef then your appetizer then salad then a shot of lemon vodka to cleanse the pallet then your main course... And all the food is amazing. I would suggest the house dressing for your salad. Weve always been too full to have dessert so can't help you out there... And fyi they don't have spaghetti...its red sauce linguine lol
Sheri and Dina put out some great food at our recent St.Phillips Ushers Party. Everyone was happy with their meal and we all look forward to coming back in 2024. Excellent service!
Such a unique dining experience with wonderful food and service! We highly recommend saving room for dessert or taking it to-go! The Tiramisu was the best we've ever had! Will most definitely go back soon!
My nephew and niece treated us to dinner and drinks and it was fabulous 👌 We met some new people and we're treated kindly. Have to thank all of the staff who took care of us meticulously. Absolutely special. 💯
We just had one of the BEST dinners I have ever had in my life... and I love to go out for food! We just had the European Tour (it is a 7 course meal, not even on the menu, and the menu is a SURPRISE! You tell the chef what you don'tlike, and they take it from there. make sure you call a few weeks in advance for the chef to get the meal planned out) @ The Dove Restraunt in OP. We started with a little meatball each 1st course: stuffed hot pepper soup 2nd: scampi style scallops (OMG soooo good) 3rd: grilled peach salad with mustard vinegarette and bleu cz crumbles Limoncello to cleanse our palettes 4th: spaghetti squash Alfredo (we LITERALLY scrapped our plates clean) 5th: veal rollitini stuffed with asparagus, cheese and ham with zucchini risotto 6th: Chilean sea bass with sweet and sour sauce with roasted garlic broccoli 7th: Bananas foster with an Anniversary glass of Prosecco I cannot say enough for how delicious our food was. Chef did an AMAZING job and the service by Diane was perfect. We can't thank them enough for such a special anniversary meal! A must try!
I met Cheri, Dena, and Lisa today. (Sorry for misspellings) They really create an amazing atmosphere. Very easy to talk to. Every dish I tried was mouthwatering. I'd recommend The Dove to anyone looking for a wonderful, new dining experience! Thank you girls ♡
Really lovely meal! Steaks were very tasty and so was the carbonara. So many extras that made the meal special - complimentary meatballs, limoncello, etc. Our server was excellent with a great sense of humor.
Friendly, beautiful hospitality. Service is superb, thorough and welcoming. Featured cocktails were lovely. The several COMPLEMENTARY surprises made our dining experience outstanding. Daily addition was fresh, farm to table gem and the entree from the set menu knocked it out of the park. Top to bottom, excellent must visit and will continue to patron. Thank you for making our evening!
Read about this place in the newspaper then checked reviews. Though some were not happy, others raved. We tried it and loved it! Ordered the $40 dinner for two. I confess I can eat a whole dinner especially if the food is very good. The dinner for two offered a soup or salad, an appetizer to share and half portion dinners. Plenty and fulfilling! Not to mention the complimentary house meatballs they give the minute you sit down, the limoncello to clear your palette before the entree and the oven baked cookies following. Great service. Though it was a bit of a wait in between, it was well worth it! Low lighting ambiance. Will be back!
One of the best Italian restaurants in WNY. I could go every day just for their house dressing, I dream about that stuff. We were there last night and they had stuffed zucchini flowers for an app. It blew us away! It reminded me of the Sopranos episode where they are fighting over them at Arty's restaurant. Don't pass up the dinner for 2 for $50. Includes the bread and meatballs when you sit down, salad or soup, shared app, limencello, and a half portion entree. You will still leave with a doggy bag. Try to make room for dessert and end the night with a perfectly made espresso.
I have known one of the owners my whole life and the other, for many. They are wonderful people as is their staff. Wonderful and they certainly know their stuff. Every time I come to their restaurant for dinner, I know I'm in for a treat. This is no Olive Garden. The Dove is the real deal. They take great pride in what they prepare. Last night, I had the lobster stuffed sole and let me tell you, it was a good thing I was sitting down. I have never had anything so delicious in all my life. And this includes every dessert I've ever consumed. I was full after eating the first courses of fresh bread, soup, and salad, but when I took the first bite of that perfectly prepared fish, I pushed my appetite to the limits. Bravo, Sherry and Dina. Bravo!
Food is amazing! Owners are the best! They give you bread and meatballs as an app, then soup, salad with awesome house dressing, limoncello before your entree. And the shrimp stuffed flounder special was delicious!! Love this place!
The food and service was excellent. We have been there several times, and have always been very pleased. The staff is always very friendly. We got the shrimp scampi, and it was delicious. Their salads are always fresh and have a variety of types of lettuce in them and their creamy parmesan house dressing is out of this world. And they always throw in extras, like their home made soup, home made bread, and home made cookies, all of which are excellent, and at no extra cost. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. You never go away hungry.
Went here for our anniversary, and the staff was super nice and knowledgeable. The ability to try their red sauce and all the extras you got... so much great food!
My family loved everything they ordered soup was great salad was perfect My chicken cacciatore was good but also disappointing. To me the chicken should have just fell apart they used a boneless chicken breast that was not simmered for hours in the sauce had to use a knife to cut it up
Need more Stars. Our party of 5 was very impressed. No rush, relaxing and very pleasant. Looking forward to going again. You'll be very pleased going there, even if you have to wait to make your reservation. Well worth it.
This is not fast food . First time here . The dining event is much like a dinner in Europe. Several courses. I had a party of 9 and we were well taken care of . They have a great selection. If you are in a hurry , hit a drive thru .
I had just gone yesterday with my parents for my birthday. I had ordered the special, salmon with crab on top with the rice. That was so AMAZING. I truly believe that should be a regular item on your menu. Excellent service, polite waiter, very pleasant experience.
Take out service yesterday and it was great. Ordering online was easy even several hours in advance. They also specify when the next order can be ready. Pickup was smooth and easy. Brought to the car. The food was great and the takeout package included all the little extras you get when eating in ( ecept the limoncello) like soup, complementary small meatball and dessert cookies. We'll definitely do it again!
Just returned from the very best dinner we have had locally in years! Made us wonder why we haven’t dined here for so long . All four of us had delicious dinners with leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Best Caesar salad around, great seafood Diablo ! Great service, I can’t say enough good about the place. Can’t wait to go back ! (And no, I’m not related to anyone who owns the place)
Visiting from Colorado went here with my nephew and his wife. The food was amazing service was excellent. Started with awesome meatballs, then, oysters and crevice were great, then the soup! OMG! It was soooooo good! Then a very fresh and gooooood salad. Then…..the lemon cello to clean your pallet before your dinner comes. I had chicken madera it was beyond amazing! I have enough for two more meals! The prices are very reasonable. YOU MUST GO TRY IT OUT!!!
I was surprised that i haven't heard of this place before. The food was delicious. What a great atmosphere. Would recommend everyone to try out. One of the best experiences I’ve had in awhile. Just don't expect to be in and out it, they take their time in between courses like they do in Europe which was a pleasant surprise probably because I enjoyed the company I was with.
Authentic, high quality Italian cuisine. My personal favorite spot in WNY to dine out.
A hidden gem in West Seneca. We celebrated a 70th birthday here a few days ago. A family member who lives there recommended it as we are out of town. The food and service were outstanding. This a more traditional, old school style Italian restaurant, which is what makes it so special. It feels like you are having dinner at your Italian grandmothers house. The food comes out in “courses”- bread/meatballs, appetizers, soup, salad, then entrees, with plenty of time between each. I recently ate at the US’s oldest Italian restaurant in the country in Philly, and The Dove reminded me of that. The eggplant parm was fantastic, and the food and wine prices were very reasonable, especially with the large portions. If you want quick service, go to McDonald’s. If you want a nice, relaxing meal with friendly staff, then go here. Will definitely be going again!
I have been to Italy. This place reminds me of the great food I had there. I drive over half an hour to come here with my wife for dinner. Try it you won't be disappointed.
Probably the best Italian food in buffalo. The atmosphere is very relaxed. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Their marinara sauce is delicious and it has a nice little spice to it. The calamari was crispy and delicious. Their tiramisu was fantastic as well.
Absolutely delicious! Best service I've had in awhile. Food was fantastic! Couldn't even finish my meal because of all the appetizers, salad and soup! This restaurant does not disappoint. This was my first time here and I have lived in Buffalo and drove past all my life. Don't drive by. GO IN! ❤️
Thank you for the service the food was amazin, the service was first class. I took my wife here for valentine day. I never would have gone to a restaurant but this place is her favorite place to go. You made our day extremely special.
It was quite some time since we were at the Dove and I wonder why we waited so long to return. The food is excellent and it is a wonderful dining experience. Friendly staff, quiet atmosphere. Just an overall nice place to relax and enjoy!
Service is excellent. Great menu at really decent prices. Portions are huge and made to order. Sauce is like GG used to make.
We ate here for dinner on Friday night. My husband (who is from Italy), absolutely loved the music and the atmosphere. The sauce was excellent as well. I loved all the courses, especially their minestrone soup and their meatballs. The service was lovely. We will definitely be eating there again soon.
Attended a business dinner last night here...great experience. We were in a small private room...our server was great...especially because we were waiting for another person and we kept putting her off lol...she was so patient!. The foodwas excellent and having soup and salad as s part of every meal?Loved it. . s ..nice atmosphere...will be back!
Outstanding service and superfantastic food waitresses and bartender very good Chef one of the best in Buffalo ,NY, I Recommend very highly !!!
The chicken parm is to die for. The food is seasoned to perfection. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back. If you're looking for authentic and good Italian food this is your spot.
Great food never disappointed. The staff is proffesional and fun. My favorite restaurant to this day. Pasta fagoole amazing.
What are the best hidden Italian restaurants there is be careful because if you order appetizers you probably won't make it to the meal they give you so much stuff before the main meal complimentary like a true Italian restaurant this is a gem hidden away in Lackawanna
Visited with friend for my birthday. Had never been there. Was a wonderful experience. The food was excellent. We had the dinner for two /$55. We were greeted with warm welcomes and our server was very attentive. Would recommend going here to anyone who likes warmth and good food.
We have been going to the Dove for twenty years. Reasons, the food, the staff and the Chef. When I saw the recent one star review from Dick, oops, Rick, it got me thinking. So, I checked out his other reviews. Apparently, he should stick with pizza joints. What is "hilarious" is how many discounted meals have you "earned" over the years? Oh, the Chef, is femaile, do your homework next time! 4.5 Star Reviews, so you might be the problem. Next time you "drive by", please keeping going, we might be there!
A must try place! Want good food? Want a great staff experience (thank you Lisa)? Want to feel appreciated? Old school dining experience... at great prices. This is the place to go. And the gentleman filling our water glasses and clearing the dishes was incredible.
So, now we have a "Ken" review (eye roll)! Three stars because you had to take your hat off at a fine dining restaurant, really! Did you really need a sign to tell you what you should know already? Common courtesy didn't come to mind? You should join Karen (below) at Burger King. They will even give you a crown to wear in the restaurant. Sheesh!!! I normally don't post reviews, but after seeing "Luz" - (Karen's) review, I had to make that exception! We have been going to the Dove for over twenty years (no relation). The last several years, we have been going at least monthly. We have yet to have any type of experience "Luz" allegedly had. You obviously have more issues in your life then what you thought you experienced at the Dove. The food (always hot, delicious and large portions) and the service (always friendly, not fast (like it should be) or go to Olive Garden). The alcohol shot (mouth taste) to funny, it's called sorbet, a palate cleanser before your entree. We recommend you stick with fast food places. "Stealing a baby". Are you serious! Good thing you don't judge people without knowing who is involved. What's "scargo" (again, to funny). I hope the new year gets better for you Luz. Hopefully, your next Whopper is cooked right and fast when you pick it up at the drive through window. Wow!!
I go to the Dove regularly because the food is always amazing, the staff is always top notch and my friends, my wife & I always have a great time!
As a widowed single mother of a 5 year old (who eats cereal 3 meals a day) occasionally I will call up the restaurant and ask kindly if they would be willing to do a takeout order for me. The staff and the owners are always so wonderful and accommodating. The food is top notch, freshly prepared and piping hot. From the house salad dressing to the delicious pasta sauce, everything is always wonderful. I am truly grateful for the delicious, non chicken nugget dinner, that I am usually subjected to. Thanks Ladies. Keep up the great work. Also cant wait for the next wine dinner.
The Dove is a great little Italian restaurant off the beaten path in Orchard Park. It has fantastic home made food and excellent service! I went on a weeknight so it wasn't busy and we got right in. I really enjoyed and appreciated the complimentary meatballs and limoncello intermezzo. The pasta and chicken piccata were divine as were the cocktails. Our waitress Lisa was not only a wonderful server but also a fun comedian even naming the dish to go on the take home box! I highly recommend supporting this small business. They are great people working hard to make every meal special for their customers!
I've been going here for years and always have a great meal. The staff is very friendly & the service is the best.
Diane was absolutely amazing, walked us thru the menu, and was always checking up on us. One of the best servers I’ve ever had. Food was great, so was she
Unlike any other restaurant I have gone to.. They give complimentary courses before your meal. Homemade meatballs, rolls, soup, salad and a lemon cello to cleanse your palette before your main meal. All their food is phenomenal. Relaxing atmosphere and great service with reasonable prices. Need reservations.
We went to The Dove to celebrate my birthday and they did not disappoint. It was a wonderful meal. The portions were generous and cooked to perfection. Their attention to detail from th complimentary appetizer to the lemonchello through our entrée was spectacular. Our waitress was attentive and efficient. Overall we had a wonderful evening and will definitely return.
My chicken parmigiana was melt in your mouth good! Cheese was perfect. Sauce and noodles as well. A perfect dish. My wife’s eggplant was very good and she is picky. She said the eggplant was thin (which was better). She rarely likes red sauce but she loved this one.
Some of these poor reviews are laughable. We’ve been dining at The Dove for years & have never been disappointed. Food & choices are excellent. Slow service? (We’ve had the same server for years!) Eh - eating is an event in our family so we’re never out of there in under 2.5 hrs. That’s a real Italian meal! Eat, drink, relax, rinse & repeat. This is a RARE find in restaurants these days. Most are trying to get you out the door for the next seating so don’t be in a rush or starving if you go to The Dove.
Do not sleep on the Dove. It’s the restaurant gem of the Southtowns that you never knew you needed in your life. Dining here is an experience. It’s a treat. Go there, take your time, enjoy your life. Staff is beyond catering. It’s obvious the food is made with love and passion- and never disappoints. 5stars. A few of my favs…. House salad Clams casino Carbonara Veil Gorgonzola Chicken piccata Bottle of wine
I was there for a book club meeting and we had about 10-11 people, the restaurant was accommodating and gave us a private meeting space. Our food was excellent and service was just outstanding. Lisa gave us excellent service and made our dinner very enjoyable. Many of us ordered the Chicken Piccata whilst I ordered my usual, Chicken Parm. My Chicken Parm was absolutely delish and I've heard positive comments on the Chicken Piccata. The dish will be my go-to on my next visit! I also loved their garlic breadsticks and rolls. Definitely a positive impression of an excellent dining experience!
My fiance and I love the Dove so much that I decided to host my bridal shower there. It was amazing. The planning was easy, Lisa and Sherry were great to work with and thought of everything. My shower had some last minute changes and they were understanding and accommodating. Every guest raved about the food being absolutely delicious and plan to return. That says a lot! The only pic I managed to get was my shrimp Caesar 😅 but everyone loved the shrimp scampi, eggplant rollatini, and chicken parm! Definitely recommend for an event and of course dinner dining, the Dove always knocks it out of the park!
Had Chicken Florentine, which was very good, and served hot. I ended taking most of it home because I was full from the complimentary meatball with sauce and soup, and delicious salad with Vidalia Onion dressing. Rolls with oil and butter could have been a bit fresher. My spicy Bloody Mary was good. Also complimentary was a homemade warm cookie with dusting of powdered sugar. A nice surprise, although a bit of lemon flavoring would've been even better. Will definitely go back again. This was my 2nd visit for dinner and I was there for lunch recently also.
We were in a time crunch, and so we ordered takeout. The fettuccine alfredo is OUT of THIS WOOORLD! The eggplant parm is also very good, as is their pasta faggioli! The faggioli is made w soup shells, and a light red broth. Very tasty! Will be back again
Great service. Wonderful option for $40 dinner for two, including appetizer, salad, two half portions (which were perfect amount). We will absolutely go back! Shrimp scampi, chicken Gorgonzola were great. Crab cake app was delightful and delicious.
Food was good, Service was good and the restaurant has a pretty decent atmosphere. It was 230 for 5 people, to give you an idea of price. We did have 2 appetizers,3 desserts and your meals come with soup and salad. The Vidalia onion and creamy parm house dressing are delicious.
Do not expect, when coming to this place, to be in and out in less than 90 minutes. That's what Applebee's is for. The Dove is a dining experience. Take your time here. Server was very nice, but VERY LOUD! That's off-putting in a quiet restaurant. That's my only complaint. We had escargot and crab cakes for appetizers. I ate filet au poivre for my entree, which was perfectly prepared. Of course there are the extras that make the Dove unique: meatballs, pasta fagioli, lemoncello, and Italian cookies.
A wonderful place. More pricey but worth it. We went on New Year's Eve and they had a limited menu but the choices were great. Candle light dinner, they gave us samples like a meatball a piece with garlic bread, and a dessert to share at the end. We will be going back soon. They do need reservations. Also, they have a dinner special of 2 for $45. Great place to go! They are very tentative to you.
We go to the Dove about every 6 to 7 weeks, the food is good. Did have a problem with our meal last night, the one meal was not what the wife ordered. They took it back and she got a partial meal, they were going to bring the rest of it when it was cooked, she never got it
Nice inside. Chicken Parm was good. The Cheese Cake was not even close to good. It had an after taste. Seemed like a store bought box from the dollar store. Very low quality. Love cheesecake. Daughter is a pastry chef, she can make a great cheesecake.
This was our favorite southtowns restaurant for years...until our last visit. The last time we were there, everything was mediocre. We had ordered a mozzarella/tomato appetizer (like we've always done) and the mozzarella was tough and gritty. When we told the waitress that it was inedible, she took it back to the kitchen, then returned it to our table a few minutes later telling us that the chef said that it was just fine. No offer to take it off the bill, replace it with something different, nothing. They lost a couple of regular customers that night.
Most of our food was good… The soup lacked taste… But the service was absolutely horrible. Our waitress was condescending, inpatient, rude, and unhelpful. She alone will cause us to not go back. We understood why at 7 o’clock on a Friday night there were only a handful of tables full.
Good food, but we got medium well steaks and they were more like medium rare. Not too impressed with everything, its an older place , chairs were hard as a rock. One waitor came to our table randomly and just took the other 2 chairs without any warning or letting us know just asked me to move my purse. A little overpriced for quality of the food. On the plus side our waitress was excellent and the other waitress who checked on us. Also we had reservations and as soon as the woman checked we automatically got seated so that was nice.
Food was great, service wasn't what I would expect. We really had a great meal, and I hate that the service detracts from that. Our waitress seemed annoyed that we showed up as soon as they opened, so I figured it was that (we needed to eat early)...until I noticed how she treated any other table after ours. I'm sure it's just her natural demeanor, but she's very curt and comes across as annoyed that you are ordering anything. Recommendations were thrown out with a "I don't care whether you order it or not" attitude. Interior could use a little updating, but don't let that detract from the food. Everything we had, except the escargot was good. The escargot had so much melted cheese on it, that it might as well have been a cheese dish. You couldn't taste the snails at all, no flavor anymore. My wife and I both had veil, both dishes were great. The veil was tender, and not over done. All in all, I'm not sure I'd eat here again when I take into consideration some similar restaurants we ate at in the area. That's why I can't even give it 4 stars. The food was good, but wasn't good enough to make up for the service. It changed from an "enjoyable" experience into just a meal.
Hadnt been in yesrs and thought we give it a go. Salad was fresh and delightful. Mestball they give was good too. Lemoncello pallete cleanser was nice. Hubby ordered fish special and he enjoyed. This is where it went downhill. I ordered chicken parm. Chicken coating was egg-like instead of bread. Its was unappetizing. The pasta sauce was like water. Took it all home. We then ordered 2 tiramisu to go. What an absolute disappointment. It was super mushy and not good. Through it all away.
Food was awesome and alot of it , waitress did a great job , NO HATS ALLOWED !!!, supposedly i was told it's posted on the door we walked in, but it wasn't there when we left .
We came for lunch - fair prices and good food. Service felt a bit slow - there were only 4 tables seated but it seemed to take a long time to order and be served. Perhaps I was impatient. The soup and salad were good and the shrimp and pasta were good. As others have said in their reviews, the decor felt a bit dated inside. Friendly service, attentive.
The service was very good, how ever the lasagna was swimming in sweet pasta sauce. It was so bad I could only finish 1/3 of the serving. My mother had the pork chop which was very good.for an Italian restaurant, the Italian was disappointing.
We went to the Dove restaurant on Saturday night with my family at 630 pm. It took a very long time to get our dinner was at 8 pm which made no sense it was not even that busy. I ordered Lasagna and was a big portion but was beyond salty I only ate a small part . I like salt I have no issue with it on food. When the waitress asked how it was I told her about the problem that it was bad and to tell the kitchen to check it. She gave me a look and said you ate a good part of it instead of trying to make things right. I am not a person to complain nor did I expect anything but it made for a bad experience and for a nicer place this should have been handled different.
The food was good, I had a good meal. I wish the breadsticks were homemade, you could tell they came from a package The only reason for my two stars is the service. Holy smokes, 35 minutes between getting my drink and taking my order. There might’ve been four other tables in the whole place. If service is really important to your dining experience, I would not put this place on your list.
HONEST review: The service is EXTREMELY EXTREMELY slow and not as professional as they should be. I would only ever come back here if we were served by a professional, attentive staff in a timely manner with the courtesy and respect that you'd expect from any service establishment. The food was good, so no complaints there. The bread/breadsticks were very cheap tasting and not great, but other than that the food was good. I would be happy to speak with the owner to further elaborate on my poor experience here on Saturday evening 1/27/2024.
Arrived on time for my reservation. Everything was normal at first. The waitress took our drink orders, brought us bread. We decided what we wanted to order and closed our menu. We had our menus closed for 20+ minutes and our waitress never came back. At the 30 minute mark of no food order being taken, decided to get up and leave. For reference, there were only 4-5 other tables besides us in the dining room, so not really too busy. There was also another waitress waiting on some of those tables. This was the first, and last time I will be dining at The Dove.
We were driving through the area on our way back from a visit to the Niagara Falls. We looked up places where we the reviews were high and had items on the menu we both liked. The moment we walked in The Dove had an air of propiety. We were asked if we had a reservation and we said no. The host said OK, I will need to set a table. We were seated and after a short wait our waitress stopped by and asked us for a drink, volunteering different types of alcohol. We passed and an her second stop she asked us if we were ready to order. Like every new place I go, I ask the server what their personal favorite is. She gave me a list because everything was good. I asked her to please narrow it down to her 2 favorites, as I have never gone wrong with this direction. She narrowed it down to 2 and I picked the one she sounded most excited about. She got really upset with me and said, what do you want from me, I don't know what you like. My wife stepped in and said, he will eat just about anything, he just wants your opinion of what is best. She grunted and said, I don't know what you want me to tell you. I ordered the Pork Belly special appetizer, pasta fagiol soup, and the shrimp and scallop in white wine and butter sauce. It is a small place and the servers, bus boy and hostess seemed a little out of sync. The pasta fagiol came out and tasted mostly bland with a major focus on the beans. There was very little flavor and the server asked us if everything was OK. I told her that the soup was bland and needed salt. She came back later and told me that she spoke with the chef and the chef said I was right and to thank me for the constructive feedback. The pork belly came out and the greens had good flavor but the fat had relatively no flavor. The meat had been overcooked. They delivered a house salad to my wifeè and had homeade French dressing. The salad had to be returned and so did the soup. The server stormed away indignant with our responses and when the main entrees were received by us, the chef peeked around the corner and looked right at me to see if I liked it. The server took back the positive report to the chef, that "He likes it". The whole experience was lacking and the food was subpar for the atmosphere being portrayed here.
So sorry to say it was completely awful! We've been here so many times and loved the food and the service. Entre tonight included lobster and shrimp stuffed shells. The only thing that was missing was the lobster and the shrimp. The veal piccata. Looked as though it was boiled in water before slapping it on the plate. Very disappointed to say the least. I'm quite confident that we will not be back anytime soon.
Unexpectedly Poor service and unfriendly staff, rude, abrupt, unaccomodating- Saturday nite.
Yeesh, first of all having the hostess stand right next to the bathroom is not a good look, especially when you have to stand there for 15 minutes waiting for someone to show up, we got seated and were brought clearly frozen meatballs, was then brought soup, soup was alright but then it was followed by a sad looking salad drizzled in a very bland vinaigrette. took an hour and a half to get our entrées even though the restaurant only had 3 other tables and on arrival they were very bland, my marsala sauce tasted like TV dinner gravy and the veal looked dreadful, then we were brought cookies after dinner that were inedible, more or less a final slap in the face. service was okay, i was properly compensated for my meal so at least there's that. will not be coming back, very upsetting date night.
They reuse the butter and wine you leave on the table after you leave. They don’t treat their employees with respect. If an employee drops and breaks a dish that’s about to be served they just scoop it up and place it on a new plate and say “this never happened, get it out there” and serve physically contaminated dish. Completely against the law. They make remarks towards their employees about their weight or imitate mentally challenged kids and the way they talk. It’s completely surprising that they have the good reviews they have and it’s surprising they’re still in business
Was asked to remove my hat while two other gentlemen that came in after me .we're seated wearing hats and not asked to at all. After telling the waitress I recently had a medical procedure on my head and was uncomfortable taking my hat off. She then proceeded to ask management if it were OK for me to keep it on. Then I've observed how others dining were treated compared to my self. I got a very non welcoming uncomfortable dining experience. I will not be going back
Our waitress was great and very friendly and apologetic for our disaster of an experience. It was brought to our attention that the “head chef”/OWNER of the restaurant walked out of the kitchen during the rush of dinner. The OWNER was sitting at the bar while the other cooks were scrambling to get caught up on orders. We got there shortly before 7pm and did not leave until 930pm. We were also informed we cannot order for 40 minutes after we sat down due to the kitchen problems. We feel sorry for the workers that have to put up with the unprofessional mindset of the OWNER. We are extremely disappointed and the OWNER should be ashamed. We will not be going back
My wife and I decided to try a new place. We've driven by here a million times so figured we'd give it a try. The waitress was nice, but anything good ended right there. First they brought out a small bowl of pasta fagioli and told us it was complimentary (we'll come back to that). The soup was weird and the pasta was mushy in it. We both only had a couple bites. This was served with a bowl of diced raw onions that didn't look too fresh. They left that on our table to stink up the place even though we asked for no onions on our salads. Who serves a bowl of raw diced onions??? Then we got the escargot we ordered. It was so salty it was gross. Usually escargot is garlicky and buttery. This was salty snail. Then they served the side salads that were part of the entrees. We asked for dressing on the side, but they put it right on the salad anyway. Then the last straw arrived, our entrees. My wife ordered the chicken parm and I got a special shrimp in penne with a white wine cream sauce. We both took one bite and we were done. We couldn't even pretend to like it if we wanted to. Her's was pure salt flavor. Mine was salt with a strong flavor of fish going bad. The hilarious part is they gave us a lemoncello shot as a palate cleanser just before the entrees. As if we were in for a treat lol. The waitress asked if we wanted anything else and we declined. She took our meals back to the kitchen where we could here her arguing with the kitchen staff. My guess it was the owner who needs a shock of reality that his food sucks and maybe he should hire a real chef. Anyway, when the waitress finally comes back, she says they're charging us for the 4 cocktails we had (not good either but fine I'll pay for my drinks), the salads they ruined, and the so called "complementary" soup we never asked for. That was almost $100. For that experience! Never again. Edit: I'm not hiding behind a screen. My name is right there. Hire a real chef.
I need to say that when I see this place I want to puke in my mouth. The amount of salt that they use in their main meals is deplorable!!!! This is the most vile restaurant I’ve ever been in the 716! The waitress, Diane was absolutely incredible! The food was terrible! Salty! Gross! Made me puke! The worst part? They made us pay for our soup and salad when it was part of our meal? Our meal was horrid!!! We paid it and tipped our waitress well because she was great! The food was gross!!! We heard the cook holler and swear at our waitress! It was absolutely insane! I’d rate zero stars if I could.
Sorry but 1.- one waiter lady was stealing baby's from tables to walk around on every table showing the cute baby's, (not appropriate it all but she thought she was helping the families to eat their meal or to be niece I guess, 2. Waiters staring at the tables like very uncomfortable (look at me quick and turn other way fast would be better) , 3.- very rude honest conversations and actitud from all of them bc they are type of Italian temper so yeah 4.- salads no goodfor me but I usually eat fancy salads so they probably was great for other, soup beens really and a bowl of onion that smell like 3-4 days on the refry and taste bad so I ruin my soup, scargo appetize very good but only 4-5 PC on it, calamari 100% good, deserts 100% good, meals good but no like wow wow just better than small town restaurant, or Joes restaurant or olive garden but less than a fancy restaurant like transit rd buffalo the expency one that u paid $1000 for table of 3, and 5. The restaurant type of small house is old, old paper wall, old lamps not pretty antique it all, anyway for 3 people I didn't order a meal bc nothing was nothing on the menu that I like, I eat a lot of the great bread with no oil , they give u regular butter, but with appetizers I got enough, they offer u a shot of alcohol something for clean your mouth taste, I think is free bc for: 3 people= bread, appetize Calamary, appetize scargo, salads and soup include in your meal, 3 deserts , 1 of the alcohol shots, 4 sparkling waters, and regular water $118 no bad price, I hope they fix this mistakes and hopefully other picky honest rude I guess people like me go back again. Yes Im to honest I'm so sorry. Also good or bad your dinner is 2-3 hrs slow for my experience. Forgive me for try to help you with my opinions. Parking lot is good
