Had a birthday lunch at Rasa and it was a fabulous experience. Our server Jenna gave us a very warm welcome and went above and beyond with our requests. The Sliders and Genovese basil dosa were impeccable and I know they’re gonna be repeat orders for us every time we visit Rasa. We also tried the Indian Railway Peppers and Lotus Root Kofta Curry with the Kerala Paratha, which were both delicious. We were so full by the end of the meal that we had to skip dessert. However, since we were celebrating, the staff brought out the most delicious scoop of vanilla bean ice cream with fresh strawberries for us to savor at the end. We enjoyed every bit of our meal and are already looking forward to our next visit! Kudos to the chef and the staff for making it such a memorable experience for us.
We had a team dinner at Rasa and everyone loved the food. We had a fixed menu since it was for a large group. We were allowed to pic three starters, three main dish and two dessert for the fixed menu. It’s family style and evryone will be served everything on the menu. We tried Appetizers: (small plates) - Rasa slider - General Tsos cauliflower - Andhra fried chicken (less spicy) Main course: 1. Butter chicken 2. Lotus kofta curry 3. Malabar Shrimp masala (less spicy) Dessert: 1. kulfi 2. Cardomom brûlée All the dishes were fantastic. Thank you for your service and great ambience too . Highly recommend.
Great food, great ambience, and great service. They also have a very unique menu unlike other Indian restaurants. Spice level is going to be on the milder side. Laccha paratha was very fresh.
Rasa offers a lovely fine-dining experience with a modern ambience thoughtfully blended with touches of South Indian heritage. The sliders were fresh and well-made, standing out in both flavor and presentation. While the vegetarian options were somewhat limited, they were tasty and well executed. Overall, it’s a great spot for ambience and quality food, and I’d rate it 4/5.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 10+ stars Rasa – Burlingame Rasa truly lives up to its Michelin-star reputation! Every dish was a perfect balance of flavor, presentation, and creativity — each bite felt like a new discovery. A special mention to the bartender, who absolutely made my evening. He kept me engaged with great conversation, thoughtful questions, and genuine hospitality — I never felt alone for a moment. It’s rare to find that kind of warmth and connection at a fine-dining spot, and it really elevated the whole experience. If you’re looking for exceptional Indian cuisine with world-class service and a welcoming atmosphere, Rasa is a must-visit in Burlingame. And Ajay to you and best wishes for your new venture Amara can't wait to visit it!
I loved my visit to this restaurant! The vibes are great, perfect service, and most important, AMAZING food. I would highly recommend stopping in to try this restaurant. I went with a party of three and we ordered several items so we could share and try them, everything was delicious. I attached sone photos. The corn thing looked nasty and I was like eww I'm not eating that. Then I tried it and OMG it was so good we ordered a second one.
Went here for dinner with friends….started off with small plates like railway pepper (fritters kinda), beetroot salad, 2 feet dosa (withith secret ghost pepper podi chutney/powder) and chutney prawns…. All of them were good The entree were somehow not interesting and tasty : lotus root kofta curry and butter chicken….. Cocktails were decent! Would recommend for a appetizer session, maybe not worthy of full-on dinner
Had a fantastic dinner. Unplanned stop on a busy Friday night and lucked into a table. The sliders were fantastic. The dosa crisp and authentic. I have a pretty low spice tolerance and was worried that the biryani would be as spicy as it was in Hyderabad. It was perfect. The lotus root curry was delicious, but too spicy for me. Desert was something to behold. Cardamom brûlée.
We loved our lunch in Rasa. It’s unique, innovative and delicious….. clearly they are gunning for the Michelin tier again and my very best so that they can make it ! The place is set up wonderfully between two floors and the decor and table arrangements are lovely. We ordered the Black & White Calamari and the Chutney Rock Shrimp Uttapam for appetizers and both were outstanding. The uttapam is specially innovative with the shrimp topping and was really delectable. The calamari came with a sweet and sour tamarind chutney that is a unique pairing I have not seen elsewhere. A simple idea but what a twist to the usual calamari , loved it ! We ordered the Duck Biriyani and the Lotus Root Kofta Curry for entree and both were absolutely genius in presentation, taste and aroma. Lastly for dessert we ordered the Chocolate Cremeux and Kesar Pista & Rose Gulkand Kulfi and I was blown away again by the presentation, the combinations and the taste of it all. The Cremeux is a solid chocolate with sprinkling of toasty coffee beans, paired with vanilla ice cream and whiskey jelly. The chocolaty, bitter sweet, crunchy and ice cream all melt in your mouth into a delicious dessert. The Kulfi combo is also amazing, cute donut shapes that my children thoroughly enjoyed ! The service was warm, welcoming and super prompt. Our server was considerate and thoughtfully brought the whiskey jelly separate from the Chocolate Cremeux so that the kids could enjoy. Overall, a wonderful experience, will certainly come back again.
5/5 Stars! I'm still reeling from the extraordinary dining experience at Rasa in Burlingame, San Francisco! This Indian fusion gem has left me awestruck and craving for more. The service was impeccable, with friendly and attentive staff who knew the menu inside out. The vibrant ambiance added to the excitement, making it perfect for a night out with friends or family. Now, onto the main event – the food! We started with the Bombay Sliders (Vada Pav), which were expertly crafted. The crispy exterior gave way to a fluffy, spiced potato filling, all nestled in a soft, slightly sweet bun. It was love at first bite! The 2-foot Masala Dosa was a showstopper – a masterclass in texture and flavor. The dosa itself was crispy and delicate, wrapped around a generous serving of spiced potatoes, onions, and chutneys. The sambar, served on the side, was a revelation – rich, tangy, and expertly balanced. We also tried the Butter Paneer Combo, which was decadently rich and creamy. The paneer was cooked to perfection, and the buttery sauce added a luxurious touch. But the pièce de résistance was the desserts! The Kulfi was creamy and indulgent, with a perfect balance of cardamom and sweetness. And the Chocolate Mousse Cake? Light, airy, and infused with a deep, rich chocolate flavor. In short, Rasa is a game-changer. The chef's innovative approach to Indian cuisine, combined with impeccable service and a lively atmosphere, makes for a truly unforgettable dining experience. Don't miss out on this gem – book your table now and get ready to be amazed!
Last night, my friends and I celebrated a birthday at Saffron in Burlingame. We had a reservation for four through the Resy app, and upon arrival, we were promptly seated by the friendly host. Our table was situated right under a beautiful chandelier, and the service was both amiable and efficient. After being offered water and drinks, the staff was very helpful in guiding us through the menu and making recommendations. The food we ordered was delicious, and we may have gone overboard due to our excitement. To top it off, they surprised the birthday girl with a special dessert. Overall, we had a fantastic time and look forward to our next visit.
This is a nice place for a special occasion. The Atmosphere is nice and service is top notch. The food was also good. Didn’t like the Prawns, was expecting a bit lot from that dish. Otherwise the food was very good specially the Bombay Sliders, Chicken Biryani and the Chocolate mousse dessert was delicious.
Came for dinner and seated near the base of the stairs to the second floor which also has seating. It was a bit dim and felt smaller with the wall between dining and the bar. In general the food was a bit dry. I really enjoyed the naan and paratha which were done well. I liked the dosa and the ghost chili chutney packed substantial heat. The tiramisu was heavy on cardamom.
We had a big dinner for 11 at Rasa and really enjoyed it. The restaurant is beautiful, with excellent staff and attentive service. The food was flavorful—standouts included the Vada Pav Rasa sliders, Andhra-style fried chicken, shrimp curry, and the cardamom brûlée. The rest of the dishes were good, though milder on the spice. Overall, highly recommend—deducting one star only for the filthy restrooms, which fell short of the restaurant’s otherwise high standards. Naresh took care of us and we’ll definitely go back again.
Rasa is a fantastic restaurant and a great choice for a birthday evening. The food is phenomenal, offering unique takes on classic dishes with a great fusion of Indian flavors. The selection is impressive, and the service is excellent—quick, attentive, and friendly. The ambience is nice, though it can get a bit loud since the place is always crowded. Be sure to go with a reservation. Highly recommend it for a special event!
Excellent and attentive service. We were a group with a few dietary restrictions, somewhat difficult to accommodate (Jain). That said, they did their best, unfortunately just didn't have too many options on the menu that could work for some of us. We really enjoyed the drink coolers. That said the food was alright, although we weren't blown away by it. Given they position themselves for the Michelin crowd, it was pricey .. at par with other similar establishments. Perhaps we walked in with high expectations, maybe we ought to ask for the chef's specialty, the next time we come! Thank you Saffron, we'll see you next time.
The truffle dosa was very good. The crispness and thinness of the skin was phenomenal! The sauces could be a bit more powerful. The butter chicken curry was decent at best. It was very watery and the flavors were diluted.. The saving grace was the good use of herbs that woke up the dish. The veggie accoutrements were very fresh. The (kanganandu?) chicken curry was boring. The flavor was not there. The curry was watery. It does not have anything to wake up the dish.
Had a not so great experience when we dined in. Shrimp uttampam was not cooked..batter was still raw..calamari was too rubbery to chew.. cauliflower manchurian was very mediocre ..sliders were just ok ..guess it hyped too much..while I paid 200$ for these 4 items with a dark choc dessert..idli chat was eatable though. Big hole in the pocket..while you expect good tasting food when u pay so much..big let down
