Great local drive-in burger place. Been in business since 1956!!! They have soft serve ice cream cones and more flavors of milkshakes than you can count. Highly recommend stopping by.
We stopped in Burney and ate at Alpine Drive In. It’s our favorite. Wife had a cheese burger lettuce wrap and me a double cheeseburger. We split a large fry. Wife had a vanilla/orange large shake. I had a jumbo caramel/blackberry shake. It doesn’t get any better!
Nice kids working there and a surprisingly robust and tasty burger with fresh meat. French fries fresh and crispy. No rancid flavor. I was impressed with both friendly service and tastiness of the food. Would surely go back, and I am picky about my fat food.
Great burgers, the best milkshake I have had in years. We were traveling through the area and took a break here. Highly recommend this place. 5-star.
We were met by a very helpful member of staff who patiently explained items on the menu which were new to our British experience. We ended up having lovely milkshakes and moreover a delightful multi generational conversation about the UK and about the local Burney attractions. As a PCT hiker having visited many towns along the route, this dinner was definitely one of my favourite experiences. Thank you.
Wish I had time or a bigger stomach to enjoy more of the menu! We just had dessert but the burger smelled so good and they were 10ft away! Service really sweet, but slow due to they were busy!
The only time they disappoint is when they are closed for the day.. lol everytime I come here everything is perfect! I got a blackberry shake and some onion rings this time and was very happy! Plus they're all pretty working in there with nice smiles! Haha 🙂
We had the most awesome peanut butter shakes here. Staff was VERY friendly and the food is excellent as well. I will ways stop here on my way through. If you need a comfort food fix, this is the place!
My mom and me only once been there a few yesterday's ago it was pretty wonderful there so you can go there at any time lol :3
I love it sometimes they're so busy they can't get to you very fast you almost feel overlooked but it is a small place with lots of customers the food is worth the wait. The people that that work there usually friendly.
Cute little diner in a small mountain town! Loved it! There's a few indoor tables and 3-4 outside in front. Also has a drive-thru! Friendly & quick service. We just had an ice cream, but the other food items other guests were enjoying looked and smelled great.
We love this place! The burgers are the kind we're always looking for when away from home. Everything is good! Shakes are like what hubby remembers from a long time ago. Oh wow. The brownie sundae in the keepsake mug? WORTHY! Yes, not cheap, but not necessarily over priced. The mug is great as is the generous serving of the treat inside.
We love this place! The menu has been restored to it's original 1956 menu by it's new owner, who worked here as a teen. It's fresh and delicious and priced right. One of the best burgers anywhere and perfect fries. Don't forget to try a shake too! Or my favorite chocolate malted.
And went here a little skeptical. Because it did look a little run down... Unfortunately, I had to wait about 8 minutes before they even took my order, which was unfortunate. Otherwise I would have given it five 🌟 🌟 🌟🌟🌟. But overall, I had great customer service. I ordered a butterfinger reesey's pieces. Avalanches large . And their chicken nuggets, and honestly it was pretty good... I've got their burgers before and they're honestly not that great, but overall I would definitely go again ....
The Alpine is a great, local burger shop! I've been coming here since 1993 and have never been disappointed. The cost for the amount of food I received was good. Granted, I only come to Burney once a year, but I still think the prices are fair. The portions are huge. The fries are perfect: crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. There wasn't much salt on the fries, which I appreciate because I like to add my own salt. The burger was perfectly cooked, juicy, and fresh. The veggies were also very fresh. The lettuce was crisp and crunchy. I tasted the meat by itself; it was high quality. The sauce quality and quantity was good too. As I ate my buger, it did not fall apart, nor did it drip everywhere. Honestly, burgers are my favorite go-to meal, and my wife and I have made several road trips across the U.S. I have tried hundreds of burgers from hundreds of small, local shops, The Alpine consistenly stays in my top 10 for little burger joints. The staff is always friendly and courteous. I wish I had left a bigger tip! I am glad I live out of state because I'd be here multiple times a week. To the owners and staff of The Alpine: you are doing fantastic! Please don't change a thing. Thank you. (I took my burger back to my grandpa's house, hence the plate and weird tablecloth setup in the photo.)
I love this place. Food is very delicious. Faster customer service. I love this place. Everything neat and clean.
Love this place! Good food and friendly staff! Will definitely make a trip just for the food!

We stoped through on our way to Burney falls the food was amazing. If your ever driving through definitely check it out. There onion rings are home made and delicious! Cheese burger was great as well
Cute little food spot! We tried the burger, fries, and banana milkshake—everything tasted great. Friendly service and a cozy vibe make this a must-visit if you’re in the area!
Loved the food. Turkey burger was amazing with a strawberry milkshake.
By far one of my families favorite stops. We live in red bluff and make it a mission to stop here every time. Food is amazing, service is always immediate and kind, and the area is always beautiful
The drive-thru is slow, but it's only because the food is made fresh and I'll say this, it's worth the wait! Definitely a place to stop in and try.

Went here for the first time yesterday. The prices are a little steep but, the food was decent and the people are nice! The only thing I would say not to get that we tried are the chili cheese fries because they use nacho cheese on them but, that’s a personal choice. All in all, it’s a decent little place to stop in.
Friendly service, great portions and great taste. Stopped by here after reading the reviews and wasn't disappointed. My only real negative experience was with the "coffee" milkshake. It was way too sweet and tasted nothing like coffee. Overall it is a great little hamburger place with friendly service.
We waited way too long for our food and shakes. Over 40+ minutes. However, the food and the ice cream was amazing. We will be back.. hopefully we won't have to wait so long..
My fiance was telling her boys and I how good Alpine is an about the milkshakes. So on our way back from the Inter Mountain fair we stopped by for a few milkshakes. A vanilla caramel, pumpkin, an regular vanilla. I tasted the vanilla one an it was very enjoyable, smooth an a wonderful taste. By the way we didn't hear very much from the back seat I'm guessing that they must of been pretty good. It was nice that someone come to our window since it was taking a little longer for the persons order that was ahead of us. I did think it took a little bit longer than it should of for 3 milkshakes, but it wasn't a big deal since the shakes were so good.
Small little place but you can eat in or out and drive through and I got a good burger
Very good food especially the tots. A medium is more than enough for two people. Prices seemed a bit expensive for a loaded 1/3 lb Cheese Burger and medium tots but it was delicious and Prices are going up.
Burgers are always great, the milk shakes are dank, was a little bummed out though I couldn't finish my French fries due to no one not two but 3 hairs in my fries.. I would go back just inspect my food a little more closely.
The food is great. A delicious fresh cooked burger joint that offers a drive through. The only issues here are the time it takes to get the food of which the locals are well aware. Also it doesn't travel or reheat well so if you aren't eating it withing 30 min. I wouldn't recommend it. Make sure you have 15+ minutes if you are the only one in line. 25+ if someone has just arrived ahead of you. If you have some time and are eating soon after the purchase this is the best burger in town.
A cute little mountain town diner. A good place for a quick bit to eat. Staff was friendly, there was no wait. Burgers were ok, not dry, but kind of bland. Gator Tots were awesome, but could use some salt or seasoning. Cooked to perfection though!
The best part of this place is the shakes. The one I had was so delicious Burger and fries were middle of the road . The Chili and cheese is dispenser type but big portion of fries. 2 burgers, chili cheese fries and a shake was $46 . You can decide if thats good for you
A local land mark, the pink Alpine Drive Inn. Great burgers, I got a double bacon cheese burger and it was very filling. The onion rings taste phenomenal! It was a great place to sit down with the family and enjoy a nice lunch after a hike to the falls. To finish off my stop I ordered a M&M avalanche. The first few bites were great but soon it seemed like I was just eating M&Ms, too many for my liking. If they did a third of the M&Ms it would have been perfect and this would have been a 5 star review. I’ll update this review if they end up taking my advice, But GREAT PLACE! I’ll be back.

The food is delicious. The prices are what they are.. Over all, an amazing place to visit and eat.

The grill wasn't hot enough to sear the 1/2 lb Logger burger. Not a good cook. Tator tots were very good and crispy. Ketchup packets were a frustrating joke, 1/2 teaspoon per packet. Counter service was friendly, but very slow. The view on the outdoor patio was the best.
Our last visit wasn't as great as it normally is. It's the best when they first open. Love alpine, always have. The decor has not changed since I was a young child going and getting peanut butter and chocolate milkshakes, or chocolate dipped cones.
The service is bad could be due to covid but it's bad. The food is a little above average good portions but no seasonings at all on the food. The price is high 6 dollars for a small fry, burger is 9 to 14 dollars pop is 3.95 or so be ready for that.
i have been to the Alpine in Burney several times over the past few years with hit or miss experiences. in my most recent experience, i was disappointed by the costliness despite the place being a fast food establishment. my cheeseburger was okay, but it was very small given the $10 price tag. i also bought a large milkshake for $6.75, which had good flavor but was again overpriced. however, there aren't many other options here in Burney anymore, so if you are looking for a fast food burger, this is your best (and probably only) bet.

Low quality meat, cheese, and buns at a high quality price. Service was good and the indoor was cool but noisy.
The food was meh at best. My husband got the burger and I got the chicken nuggets. The burger was really small and dry and the nuggets were okay. The price didn’t match the portion size and the younger girl taking our order inside really seemed like we were an inconvenience to her when we were ordering (didn’t even customize). We had stopped there on our way from Crater Lake to Lassen National Park. The building and decor seemed nice at least.

The food was really expensive for being the quality that it is. Nearly 30 dollars for 2 milkshakes and 2 medium fries.
I was disappointed. Was really looking forward to a good burger. It was okay but definitely did not satisfy. Staff was friendly but the environment made me wish to be somewhere else.
The negative: Boo I hate this part... Highly disappointed. Bland Food. Absolutely no salt or pepper used. I ordered a Taco salad and my husband ordered a burger. The Taco Salad was not a taco salad. It was simply an unseasoned beef patty crumbled up on top of burger toppings with a scoop of sour cream, what appeared to be salsa, and cold tortilla chips also unseasoned/unsalted. My husband tried to season his own burger with a little salt and pepper... Didn't help. The meals went to the dogs and the chickens. At the end of the day the food can make it or break the place. Some simple changes like seasoning would go a long way. The positives: Giving credit where it is due. I will give them at least two stars. The staff was positive, quick, accurate, and professional. Multitasking as needed in between customers, while also cleaning in a timely manner. Also if you're looking for a good soft serve ice cream cone. Theirs is pretty good. I did order a large cone and the thing was massive. I ordered a simple vanilla but the soft serve was pretty decent.
I hate to rate so low but the food was too expensive for the portion and the quality. My jawline looks amazing now thanks to the chewing I did on the chicken strips. Tots were pretty good though but nothing special. Service was stellar though.
Writing this as I’m literally at the drive through window. It has been 30 minutes since I purchased a double bacon cheese burger and medium fries, sans drink. Don’t use the drive through. Update: they should advise people with a time estimate at the window before taking their order. Update, I paid at 1:36pm and received my food at 2:27. The food was delicious, their only saving grace.

We were driving thru in the evening before sunset on Thurs, 6-10-21. Upon the advice of a guy in line that seemed to be ordering from this place everyday, we ordered 2 burgers, one with cheese, fries, onion rings and a strawberry shake, as it is my birthday. I am soo sorry to say that this meal did not settle well for either of us. We don’t know whether it was the hamburger or possibly the oil it was all fried in, but something definitely turned our stomach upside down all night long, into the next morning too. We hope nobody else had this problem, but felt it just needed mentioned.
How many times can you mess up a burger. First time put jalapeños when I asked for no tomato, lettuce, or onions. Took it back in they didn’t even remake the burger just took the meat out put it on new buns and new cheese and then managed to mess it up again by putting onions on it. With the prices being so outrageous they should be able to make a new burger instead of having to reuse the messed up one
We pulled into the drive through excited for the prospect of milkshakes and fries. Every time we visit my grandparents up in Goldbar. However when we pulled into the drive in we waited a few moments for someone to greet us. Which is fine. We could see the people sitting out front waiting for their orders as well. An older women came over and said it will be 30-45 minutes. Then she went back to cooking. So as a family we deliberated whether or not to stay and wait. A few minutes passed and the older women came back saying, "no seriously it will be 30-45 minutes." My mother replied saying we were just talking amongst ourselves on whether or not to wait." Which the older women replied, "No, it will take about that long for me to take your order." That is the most outrageous business practice I've ever heard of. I work in a restaurant and I know for a fact when we are over whelmed and under staffed we can't tell our guests we can't take their order for 30-45 minutes, with the assumption that it would take about a half an hour to get our order. We love coming here for our milkshakes and fries but getting a giant f-you kind of sucked. Hopefully next time will be better
Waited behind one single car for almost 40 mins. I should not have wasted that much time (I know) but I was SO hungry. The service is usually pretty slow but it wasn’t even that busy yesterday 10/09/25. They should have people coming to the car taking orders instead of two different workers walking back n forth to the trash. Waited until we got to Redding to eat.
