Located off the 5 freeway (Buttonwillow exit) about halfway between northern and southern California, this McDonald's is the best, cleanest place to stop for food and a bio break. Yep, the cleanest. Beware of the fruit flies outside; get back into your car quickly.

Great service. Although their ice-cream machine was not working and we only knew after we placed the order, they did everything to accommodate. I have to mention the bathroom here, it's the cleanest bathroom I've been into in the past week - and my family and have been into many bathrooms across three states! Pit-stops lol

Looking for a quick bite on the go, I pulled into the McDonald's on Tracy Ave and was pleasantly surprised by the entire experience. Compared to most highway McD's, this one was a standout. First things first, it was clean. No sticky floors, overflowing bins, or questionable bathroom odors. Second, the service was top-notch. Friendly staff took my order quickly and accurately, a welcome change from the sometimes robotic interactions at other locations. Speaking of speed, there was no line! Maybe it was the time of day, but getting my food was a breeze. No waiting in traffic jams of indecision or watching fries languish under heat lamps. Finally, the food itself. Now, it's McDonald's, so don't expect gourmet. But everything was hot, fresh, and tasted exactly as it should. No limp fries, lukewarm burgers. Overall, this McDonald's on Tracy Ave was a surprisingly pleasant experience. Clean, friendly, fast, and the food hit the spot. If you're in the area and need a quick, reliable bite, this one's definitely worth a stop. Bonus points: I appreciate the cleanliness of the bathrooms! Those can be the make-or-break factor for a pit stop, and these were definitely up to par.

This McDonalds location is exceptionally great. Their quarter pounders taste juicy hot and fresh unlike any other McD that are dry nd cold. I always end up comparing every McD to this particular location, they have set the bar high. I Always stop by here when on i5. They take 5 min more to get your order ready (which i prefer they do, then you know they are putting extra effort) Staff is very attentive to details and restrooms are nice and clean. I stopped here for breakfast and a driving break. The facility was clean. I use the kiosk ordering. The food was ready quickly. The staff I did interact was friendly. The restroom was clean. The parking is well lit. I felt safe. It's a good stop off the I-5 freeway that gets very long! I would stop here again. I gave the atmosphere a low rating because I really hate the gray industrial look of the McDonald's. It's so unfriendly.

Best McDonald's for Breakfast Near Grapevine. If you're headed north on I-5 down grapevine and have a hankerin' for McDonald's, keep driving for 20 minutes and get a much better breakfast. We've had the Big Breakfast at many McDonald's in California and elsewhere, and this has to be the best yet. Everything was piping hot, the eggs were cooked just right and delicious, the pancakes were light and fluffy, and even the hash browns were tasty and not at all greasy. Also had an orange juice and mocha Frappe, which were equally good. We ate in and the help was friendly, the interior was recently remodeled, and the restrooms were clean. I read the negative reviews, but that certainly wasn't our experience. This is now our go to McDonald's whenever we're headed up or down the San Joaquin valley!

I had to make a nighttime run to Bakersfield to give my old pal'et Buck Toothed Mary bail money for her old man because he got caught making moonshine again. Maybe this time they'll take the still away from him. But...The good thing about the trip is stopping at the McDonald's here in Buttonwillow, it's been on my radar since it was rated the best McDonald's in California! It's not hard to figure out why it's worthy of a two hour drive, all you've got to do is look at the food they put out. This McDonalds does it Right! I've never been asked how I'm doing or if I need anything else, while eating at a fast food place before, except here. And they did it to everyone that was here. Getting sauce for them. Offering refills on drinks. They actually bring the food out to your table, so it definitely feels more sit down too. I was surprised how small the McFlurrys have gotten though, but it was still good.

I have never in my life been impressed by a McDonalds, until this McDonalds. This is by far, easily, the nicest McDonalds I’ve ever been to! Upon arrival the Atmosphere was noticeably different than your run of the mill McDonalds as it was quieter, calmer, and relaxed. You would’ve thought the McDonalds had just opened it was so clean, it has been up and running for a while I guess, however it was spotless and even smelled clean! The service was excellent too! Respectful staff, speedy service (even with a huge order!), hot food, and fast food that wasn’t greasy! I was so impressed I absolutely had to leave a review because this McDonalds certainly earned its 5 star review!!!

i had previously visited this mcdonald's on a road trip to san francisco and had little to no issue as i tend to on most visits to other fast food restaurants. however, on our most recent visit we actually just visited to stretch our legs and eat a small snack. we were greeted upon entering and i would note that there was staff cleaning up the dining area as well as a really clean restroom. i'll be sure to have this location saved and visit again in the future for a bite to eat because it's in a general location where i feel it's good to stop because of traffic or you might just be tired from sitting and stretch for a bit.

Nice modern interior. I appreciate their clean toilet. You’ll first greeted by their order panel. It will entice you to upgrade your meal and order more food. If you prefer to avoid that and order through human, you can do so behind the cleverly hidden yellow wall. Once your order is complete, just pick it up from the collect station. We were driving back to San Jose from Last Vegas and stopped her (Just outside of Bakersfield) on Highway I-5. A nice pitstop. The Big Mac was good and juicy.

This is one of the better McDonald's I have been to lately. They got the order right the first time and the fries were hot. Sadly, that is not the norm for most restaurants. We eat here on the way to San Francisco. It was 9.30 pm and almost close at 10 am. Somehow it is located in the useful location. They need more cleanliness.

Wow this was a different McDonald's experience I haven't been to McDonald's in over 3 years been trying to eat healthy however we were on a road trip and decided to stop and get something really quick that orange juice tasted chalky the hash browns was the best thing there the sausage biscuit was kind of soggy I definitely was not used to the atmosphere at this restaurant they only have one person in the front and all the food is cooked behind the double doors you can't even see what's going on back there it's almost like it's completely automated it wasn't very good the steak burrito was absolutely disgusting I'm not a big McDonald's fan so overall I give this about a two 2.5

Location was clean including the restrooms for a fast food establishment right off the freeway. There was plenty of parking and it was easy to locate. I ordered right at the tail end of breakfast at about 10:20am. I asked if they were serving French fries, but the cashier informed me that breakfast ends at 11:00am. Cashier was friendly and smiled. As I waited for my order I observed an obscene interaction between an associate by the name of Humbierto and another customer. The employee told the customer, “It’s up to you, you could pay for the coffee or not.” He was extremely rude to the guest and his body language was aggressive. The employee shook his head and threw his hands in the air waving away the guest. I could not believe the employees around him did not find it inappropriate or say anything. As we were waiting for our order Humbierto approached us and asked if we needed anything. I told him we were just waiting for our order and he told me that he would notify another employee because he was already off. I am not sure why he asked if we needed anything if he was already off the clock, but his approach was also a little aggressive. Our order was missing bacon, but otherwise it was prepared very quickly. The employee that delivered our order asked if we wanted any sauces and was friendly. It’s unfortunate that this single employee was able to drastically affect my experience and deliver negative feelings. My dine in date was 2/11/2023 at approximately 10:20 am

Food was fine but staff was really impersonal. Neither the cashier or employee who gave us our order at the time even said hello. This has to be one of the WORST McDonald's EVER. My wife and waited inline to place our order but the guy at the counter made us order from the kiosk because they were "backed up". There were literally less than ten people in the restaurant, including a manager and supervisor sitting at one of the many open tables. And there were ZERO cars at the drive thru. The dude at the counter then started to touch every table (restaurant speak for checking in on their guests), so I'll give them credit for that. Other than that, for a corporate monster, this joint SUCKS. Do yourself a favor and go to the Carl's Jr. next door.

I would not normally give a one star review for an experience that was not about the food but I feel that what happened warrants the score. I counted at least a dozen flies on the menu screen and more in the dining area. There were two managers near the front so I got the their attention and informed them that the fly is in the restaurant or a health code violation and a fairly significant one. Both basically ignored my concern stating they couldn't do anything about it because they were open and that it would have to wait till tonight when somebody was coming. I have to say given their concern about the issue that it is very unlikely that anybody was coming tonight to deal with the flies. I hope the Kern county health department come to visit them soon and this is in urgent need of correction.

This has to be one of the worst McDonald's I've ever been to. But then again, I'm sure Buttonwillow is not known for its McDonald's. The food was cold when I got it the fries tasted like the Fry machine hasn't been cleaned in 20 years, and the burger was pathetic. I was helped by a very lackadaisical apathetic teenager who seem to want to be anywhere but there helping me.

BEWARE…If I could give this place 1/2 a star I would. We were traveling and it was around 8:30 pm. We went thru the drive thru so we could continue on our trip. The place looked like it was closed. As we proceeded to place our order we had to yell over people in the background inside the restaurant so the person taking our order could hear us. We finally made it to the window and she asked us to pull forward as it would be a few minutes. There were four cars behind us and they had to do the same thing. ALL of those cars got their food ahead of us but we were not told we were waiting on anything. The kid that came out with the bags asked us what we ordered and when we told him he said that our order was not ready. We went inside to speak with the manager who did not want to come and talk to us and sent someone else and we said we needed the manager. As we were talking with her we watched the same kid start to bring our food to us and we watched him eat our fries out of our bag and our chicken sandwiches were just being made. We got our money back and left. Would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Horrible service. Waited in drive through for 7 minutes before taking my order. No one was in front of me. The guy asked for my order and then told him my order and went silent for 2 minutes and said “see tut at the window” went to the window and got the whole order messed up.

The signs obviously show that they are open for walk up customers for takeaway however when I approached the makeshift counter I got yelled at for being inside a construction area. Didn't even acknowledge their signs told me to do just what I did. To be honest I can't believe McDonald's would allow a spray painted sign like that that looks so amateur. I was told at the first window that my buttermilk sandwich was going to take like five minutes, I did not mind waiting. I waited more than ten minutes for my meal to be done. Upon opening the container I found this sandwich which did not have tomatoes or the appropriate lettuce. It had old shredded lettuce, it was not appetizing at all. I had to remove the old lettuce to eat it. This is the first McDonald's that serves a buttermilk sandwich like this.

No one allowed in lobby to order or use restroom and they are not polite about it. They have signs that say make sure to ask for your condiments at the order taker in drive thru but when you get your food they forget the condiments and do not have a knife and fork for a big breakfast with hot cakes. Your expected to use a plastic spoon, which btw is not as easy to cut the food as you would think. On top of the missing condiments they do not give you napkins we had to go back for them and the missing condiments. Good thing I am only passing through, if I wasn’t I would not support this restaurant ever again.

I have it the benefit of the doubt for food and service. Guy with a dog right outside with a dog asking for handouts lowered but we still went in. As soon as the door closed behind us was a strong smell like a sewar (not outside interestingly) we contemplating getting food to go as it smelled too bad to sit there. Then decided we didn't want food prepared in a place that smelled like a sewar. Went to the restroom expecting nightmares but the restroom was clean and no odor

Tried using the app it wouldn’t work properly went into the McDonald’s. The guy at the counter wouldn’t let us use the QR code that we had. It was a disaster. Don’t use this McDonald’s.
