This restaurant is a hidden gem that delivers far beyond expectations. The food quality is superb, rivaling the refined, elevated dining you'd typically expect from a trendy spot on Melrose. Beyond the exceptional cuisine, the service truly shines: our server wasn't just helpful and attentive—she was genuinely passionate about every dish she presented, making the entire dining experience feel personal and truly special.
I decided to stop by this place driving from LA to Santa Barbara and it’s a gem! The shrimp taco tastes like heaven, with the shrimps in creamy source, and balanced by avocado, tomato and lime. I have also tried the prosciutto sandwich, which is surprisingly sweet but good. The toast has caramel in it and the source has honey so it’s definitely sweet, however, it’s also very satisfying combing with the generous portion of prosciutto and cheese, it feels warm and hearty and goes extremely well with a hot coffee. All ingredients taste extremely fresh and I wish I can try more of their items in the future.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Azafran in Camarillo is a culinary gem that takes your taste buds on an unforgettable journey! Their unique menu blends Spanish-inspired flavors with global influences, delivering dishes like Peruvian ceviche, pan-seared octopus, and juicy ribeye steak that burst with creativity and freshness. Every bite feels like a celebration of bold, premium ingredients. The homemade desserts? Absolutely to die for—pure indulgence in every spoonful! The customer service is exceptional, with a warm, welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. Whether you’re dining in, ordering their delicious chaufa fried rice for delivery, or hosting a private party, Azafran’s passion for food and hospitality shines through. A must-visit for anyone craving a vibrant, flavorful experience in Camarillo!
Happened to be in Camarillo today. We decided to try Azafran. First time here. We walked into a very comfortable dining room. It wasn't terribly busy and we were seated immediately. We started with the shrimp taco appetizer. It was very flavorful and you could immediately tell that the shrimp was extremely fresh! I ordered the Pomodoro pasta with Mushroom and Shrimp. My wife asked for the Steak Chaufa. I received the Parpadelle with mushroom and shrimp in. Not exactly what I ordered, but I ate it and loved it. My wife's fried rice with steak was good too. We both could not finish our dishes. They were filling. The topper though was the Trees Leches cake (yes we saved a bit of room for desert). It was moist and had just a touch of sweetness. I prefer it this way, not too sweet. Overall, it was a great find. The server was very nice. The atmosphere was very comfortable. I bookmarked this for a future trip to Camarillo.
Spot on flavors and beautiful presentation. We enjoyed the octopus and pork belly appetizers, an intriguing broccoli soup, and a scrumptious mushroom gnocchi with buratta. oh, and some a slice of tres leches cake. Service was very friendly and attentive. Definitely worth a trip, we happened to be north bound from Orange County to the Bay Area.
Loved the food. We had roasted bone marrow, chaufa and the brownie. It was perfect for us.
I don't understand why this isn't the most packed restaurant in Camarillo. They deserve lines out the door. Their food is wonderfully prepared and affordable. It feels like a fine dining experience without an enormous price tag. Absolutely phenomenal!
It makes sense that this place has so many stars 🌟. The food was amazing. I came around 1pm and found that it was pretty quiet. Breakfast is my favorite meal, so I came to try it out. The orange 🍊 juice alone was worth the trip. I ended up getting the criollos plate. The tangy, slightly spicy sauce added so much to the dish. I wanna have it again, but I wanna try the other vegetarian dishes they have. The atmosphere was nice, very chill vibes and cozy. Local in old town between the metro and art center.
A Camarillo hidden gem — what an incredible culinary experience. Every dish delivered a standout flavor profile, from the perfectly grilled octopus to the uniquely delicious Peruvian ceviche. I would return for the ceviche alone — easily one of the best dishes I’ve had in a long time. Although I ordered everything to-go, the quality held up perfectly. The server who helped me was friendly, patient, and welcoming. While we didn’t dine in this time, the warm ambiance and inviting decor definitely make me want to come back and enjoy the full experience. We tried the Peruvian ceviche, shrimp tacos, grilled octopus, chow plate with pork belly, and topped it off with a refreshing coconut lemonade. Every item was exceptional, and I can’t wait to explore more of the menu on our next visit.
My 4th time and counting coming to see our friends at Azafran. Warm smiles, always a wave from Chef, and a great French press to start a gorgeously plated, 5 star quality, freshly made menu that I’ve always been impressed by to say the least. It has become a staple in my weekend as of late. I was brought here by loved ones, and have brought loved ones, and I feel like this is a lot of what Azafran is all about. They’re happy you’re there so that they can share their art with people who appreciate just that. Great job guys, see you soon!
I was hesitant to leave this review, because the more that know about it the more popular it will become. But the business owners deserve that, so I am posting while still seated at the table. This is the best breakfast I have had in Ventura county. I am a 3 year transplant from Michigan, I’ve considered Immigrant Son in Ventura as my number one breakfast place for years. One meal here and there is a new King/Queen. Like I said, I’m writing this review and have already sent this restaurant to four close friends - before leaving the table. It is so good. GET THE FRENCH PRESS COFFEE.
Heavenly food, kind service, and a comfortable restaurant and atmosphere! I had their salmon plate and it was perfect, tender fish with a crispy top, side of beautiful veggies, and the smoothest mashed potatoes I've ever had. All of it was perfectly seasoned and cooked. A friend had the ribeye and told me the same. This is a brilliant place in an excellent location and I highly recommend it for a nice lunch or dinner.
Only 89 Reviews! Locals are obviously sleepin on this new local spot. The Octopus is stellar! The seasoning and prefect crispyness! Food was amazing. Wonderful presentation. I do not eat potatoes most of the time and they were kinda enough to provide a vegetable substitute.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Incredible culinary experience. This chef and team are the real deal. This is the kind of food you would wait hours in line for if it was in NYC or LA. And Camarillo has it in its own backyard. You can tell the chef is extremely talented. He has crafted a menu with just the right amount of variety for all palates, and they execute the dishes to perfection. The menu features a fusion of Latin American dishes that are a must try. Everything I’ve tried, from the duck, the octopus, the lamb, ceviche, and even something as “simple” as Chaufa are all prepared with such intention and care. I’ve been here a few times already and have left floating from the incredible experience my taste buds have had every time. On top of that, their service is top quality. They have always been friendly and have gone above and beyond. Take your date, loved one, or family here. It is chefs kiss x1000

Camarillo's best restaurant and one of the best in Ventura County. We started with very nice mussels in coconut milk; more creamy than sweet and a really nice smoked flavor as well. The broccoli soup came next and was also really good. My wife enjoyed her spaghetti pomodoro but the real highlight of the meal were the shrimp tacos. They come with coconut milk and looked way too creamy until I took the first bite. Initially, it was very sweet but then you see it is balancing the wonderful spiciness of the peppers. Best tacos I've ever had.
Azafran is truly a gem in Camarillo. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels warm, inviting, and thoughtfully curated. The service is attentive without being overbearing, and you can tell the staff genuinely cares about the dining experience. The food is outstanding—beautifully presented, fresh, and full of flavor. Every dish we tried was well-executed and thoughtfully balanced, clearly made with high-quality ingredients. Whether you’re coming for brunch or dinner, Azafran consistently delivers elevated cuisine that still feels comforting and approachable. This is the kind of place you happily recommend to friends and out-of-town guests. We’ll definitely be back—Azafran has earned a permanent spot in our Camarillo favorites.
The protein dish my parnter ordered was outstanding, you could tell it was made with love and roasted all day. The rice and chicken dish I ordered was a little on the light side for a dinner portion. They gave it a fancy name (Choufa) but it was basically overpriced fried rice. They remembered the rice but forgot the chicken, which took an additional 10 minutes to receive after the rice was delivered. I left still hungry. I would go again, but stick with the roasted meat entrees - where they shine.
I just want to start off by saying that I am a very picky eater meaning that if I ever order a cheeseburger, I really just want cheese on my burger. But this restaurant really made me want to expand my pallet. Everything I had here was amazing and good vibes. I don’t remember our waiters name, but excellent customer service by her. Her energy and her customer service was very top-notch and made you feel like you were at a fancy restaurant. I’m not from California, but this was definitely one of my favorite spots to eat!!
Azafran Restaurant is a gem my friend and I loved it. The salmon was cooked perfectly, beautifully seared, flaky, and paired with a creamy purée that complemented it so well. Great food, warm service, and a cozy atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!

We loved our breakfast this morning. Maria was a terrific server- offering prompt service with kindness. We loved that they brought French presses over for coffee. The food was delicious and unique. We’ll definitely be back.

Quite liked this place! Our server Mauricio was very friendly and attentive. The food was quite good--we got the patatas braves, ceviche, and shrimp tacos. The broccoli soup could use some improvement--more depth of flavor and more broccoli, probably. The hot tea was nice, too--unexpectedly fancy with peeled ginger, strawberry, and mint. There aren't many tables so it's not noisy and easy to have a conversation. Looking forward to taking more people here!
My husband and I had to drive 3 hours to get a decent Paella. I am comparing Azafran's culinary gem (only served Tuesdays and Wednesdays) to the paella in Temecula at Bolero Restaurant and my grandmother's own. Having shared with you my expectations I only have two comments. 1. Paella is not supposed to be spicy I think server needs to make the spicy mayo sauce an option. 2. Make a "mixed" Paella I'm used to getting sausage or chicken along with the seafood. It's authentic otherwise, but you'll have to taste it yourself. I liked it.

We ordered fried rice cuz it looked amazing from the photo. However it was nothing better than the soy sauce based fried rice I made during college. I thought it had special sauce from the photo (looks more moisturized in red and pinkish ) but it was more dry and brown fried rice. Shrimp taco was great. Baby was screaming high pitch every minute in the background and it was extremely irritating. I like the music it had nice sound system. Server was not very attentive to me. It seem they were shorthanded. I like how they bring out the whole French press for hot lemon water. They were out of ceviche. And another thing on the menu saying only available Tuesday and Wednesday. It seems like I was there at a wrong time.
