Great sushi! Cant go wrong with the love boat for two! Great value with good quality fish. Will come back!
The food was phenomenal and the service was equally as pleasant. The crispy duck was perhaps the best I’ve yet had - too often I’m disappointed with places that can’t do the duck correctly, but here it was absolutely delicious. This was our first time going, and without a doubt we’ll certainly be back. 10/10 would rec
Nice quiet resturant where you can talk and have great sushi !
Food is consistently good and the only place we get Chinese food in the area. Both outside and especially inside could really do with a renovation. It doesn't need to compete with Kobu for atmosphere, but a modern, cozy remodel would take it to the next level.
Pleasant people, and delicious take-out-sushi. The quality of ingredients for their sushi is always top notch. They've been around the area for quite some time - I only started coming here recently to try out their sushi and I am glad I did.
Love this place.. we are regulars. Salmon skin salad is the best in the state. I ordered that salad in many Japanese restaurants and so far they have the best. Wines are great.. always in chilled glasses except red wine.. those are room temp..how it should be. Zombies are also delicious and have the right amount of alcohol. Their rolls are amazing and they always receive you with a smile. Even though I have tried different places.. I always come back to Toros.. great food.. great service and best salmon skin salad.
Great place to eat. Good food with lot's of options and the food was fresh.
Great sushi and some of the best sesame chicken ever! Have been coming here for years. Even after moving away, I still make my way to them when I can
This small restaurant has delicious Chinese food and fresh, creative sushi rolls. May have a bit of a wait at peak times, calling for a reservation if your party is more than 3 makes a difference. If you're ordering sushi take out there is often a wait so don't rush over for pick up!!
First I’d like to say how amazing the food is! It’s always on point! Secondly you’re a saint for how you just handled your two very rude customers just now. I absolutely love this restaurant and wish people treated you better for providing delicious food and amazing service.
Definitely my favorite place to grab Japanese food in Putnam. Probably one of the best local eateries in Carmel, I would recommend this place to anybody, especially the sushi. Always fresh and presented well. Not a sushi fan? They also have some Chinese on the menu.
The best Japanese and Chinese food in the Mahopac/Carmel area! It is always delicious and never disappoints. The views in the restaurant are beautiful as well, and the staff is wonderful.
Tremendous sushi. Fair pricing, but one of the higher priced sushi restaurants in the area. Our server was very great and attentive to all our needs! They had gluten free soy sauce which was convenient for my lady. Enjoyed ourselves for a delicious lunch!
I eat here every visit to Carmel. It's easily among the best Chinese food and sushi I've ever experienced in the U.S. There are not many dining options of this quality in the region. And they are open on Christmas Eve.
My only critique of Toro is its expensive. That said youre guaranteed some of the highest quality fish money can buy. Food is always consistent and fresh. You can tell looking at the salmon which is fresh and oily. Staff are friendly and food doesn't take too long. I highly recommend Toro when looking for a high quality sushi spot. I havent been here for chinese
Food was excellent. Inattentive staff, although we were one of three tables occupied. Still no excuse. View and atmosphere were acceptable. The place could use a refurbishment. But don't let that stop you from enjoying the great food.
Great Chinese and Sushi with the perfect sunset. Food is always outstanding and fresh. Owners go above and beyond always
The restaurant is very inviting, everyone there is friendly. Our waitress answered all our questions and provided excellent service. I got the tangerine chicken, which was delicious. My friends enjoyed their food, too. I would like to come back some time, even though it’s over an hour away.
My family and I have been dining here for years. We're always satisfied when we visit. We had Edy as our server and she was the best one we've had yet. She was very attentive, friendly and did such a wonderful job. She worked really hard and made sure we were all set once the food came out and checked on us multiple times. The Szechuan Wontons with spicy sesame sauce were delicious as always. Shredded beef Szechuan Style is another go to entree.
Met up with an old friend here for some sushi and to chat over a drink. Our server was very patient as we both hadn't looked at the menu and were more focused on chatting than wanting to order hah! I ordered two rolls, the Amazing roll and the Yummy Yummy roll. Out of this world! They both had a thick shrimp tempura in the center. One had spicy tuna on top and a sauce. The other had eel(a new fave of mine!) and avocado. My friend had some lo mein and they gave him some Sriracha and he said it was very good. We both had a sake margarita. Now, I was very skeptical here okay? I wasn't sure if I was gonna be served some sour mix and sake or a real rita with added sake or some other thing. Thankfully tho, the rita was very nice actually. Basically a normal fresh rita with some added booze from the sake. Tasty! Good times were had and I think now my friend knows about a nice local to him spot for him to visit more often!
Excellent fresh and delicious. And they will add caviar to any sushi roll for an additional $1.00 each!
8 of us ate lunch there and we all enjoyed our meal. The waitress was great

We came in tonight after trying to eat at a different local Asian fusion spot and being disappointed with the level of service we were about to receive. We were met with the friendliest wait staff at Toro. We ordered soups, entrees and sushi and it was all a 10/10! Great people and great food.. can’t wait to go back, won’t go elsewhere from now on!
The seafood is fresh and high quality. Once you partake in the rest of the menu, it won't take long to conclude that care is put into everything that they make. They do a great job handling pickup orders and getting customers to their seats. You should check them out.
Toro is the only place that doesn’t give you little tiny pieces of sushi. They are very generous with the portions and cuts and the sushi quality is fantastic

We only ate from the sushi bar, and it was really good. I could tell the fish was very fresh and they have very nice presentation. The service was good as well, they were very patient while we decided what to get. The only off-putting part is the layout of the restaurant itself. It has awkward spacing and is very dim inside. Location wise, it's kind of away from everything, but on a main road. depending on which direction you come from, the parking can be deceiving. There's 4 spots right in front of the restaurant, but i suggest parking to the right of the building as the front spots let out directly onto the street and can be difficult to get out of if there's heavy traffic. Overall, great place to get a sushi fix. They also do takeout.
My husband had the beef with broccoli. The dish was fresh and the sauce was not overwhelming. I had sushi. The hand rolls were delicious! I had a sweet potato tempura roll and a Christmas roll. The rolls had a thin layer of rice and a generous amount on the inside. Best rolls I've had in 2 years! Hand sanitizer on the tables and social distancing implemented. The service was attentive and friendly. Thank you, Toro!!
The service was excellent, everyone (we were 6) enjoyed the drinks, the food and the ambience. No one ordered from the Japonese menu because in the past it had been quite mediocre, even disappointing. However, the new menu is enticing and I am enthusiastic to try the sushi or sashimi soon again.
First time there and I felt confident it would be a great dinner since the amount of customers coming to pick up food and the full parking lot was good sign. Seating didn't take too long , but getting someone to take our order and bring us a drink did take way too long. It seemed like the take.out orders are top priority. The food arrival was a bit delayed as well, but looked so inviting when it did arrive. Our table ordered beef teriyaki and shrimp tempura. Both meals were delicious and full of flavor. I would come back again for the food, but a few suggestions would be hire another server or 2 and the restaurant could use a makeover, it seems a bit outdated. Investing in the look and comfort would draw even more business, especially with the scenery across the street.
Place is a bit outdated, needs some TLC at least the back of the restaurant. Staff is friendly but they definitely take their time to get to you, get your order and don’t check on you as often as they should. With that said, food is delicious, not sure why it took as this long to try it since it’s local for us. We started with the beef negimaki and wonton on spicy sesame sauce, they were yummy..unfortunately did not that a picture or those. Like I said place makes up what they’re lacking on decor/updates with their food. Would come back to try their sushi next time.
Faded glory, but still very good general's chicken, one of the best I've had. 🍣 deluxs was 👍The restrooms where clean and the prices are fair.
Very good sushi. Never had the Chinese food, always Sushi. Drinks are good, Cosmo - highly recommend. Quick and attentive service. The view is nice.
Great ambience, very friendly staff and attentive. We had wonton soup, veggie spring role and sushi - had better sushi else where but nice place.

I’ve been a customer of Toros for many years. We’ve been very satisfied with everything. The food is really good, service is great and the atmosphere is nice. I ordered take out last night and the food was better than before! The wonton soup was amazing. The dough was very tender and the soup was tasty. The chicken and broccoli was great the sauce very tasty but not overpowering! And I can always count on the house fried rice which was amazing.
Good food and nice mix of Japanese and Chinese food options. The view of Lake Gleneida is spectacular.
Food was delicious. The facility needs an update and more staff.

Some of the food tastes pretty good but it's not always that consistent. I've eaten here a few times over the years and I've always had some trepidation that it's going to be a waste of money and I should have just gone to the other sushi place in town. This last visit panned out like that, some of the food just didn't taste that fresh, and after sending a cup of soda back that was covered in several small black gnats or fruit flies, a miso soup came out to the table that had another one of those insects floating in it. Might have been a bad day, might have been a fluke. I doubt I'll be back anytime soon.
Gave take out another shot and wonton noodles in soup were completely broken apart, old, stale. 6/25/24 Have eaten inside and was very pleased. Ordered takeout and completely disappointed. Food was stale, like made hours before. Wonton soup noddles were so soft and old. Chicken wings terrible. Crab Rangoon also looked and tasted stale. Maybe takeout different chef? Or pre- made food? But disappointed for $60!
The service has been a bit slower here; on Monday there were at most 5 groups of 2-3 people each. Usually it's packed and there's a wait to get a seat and the service is a little bit better. But there were only 2 servers, one which answered the phone and did take out while waiting on us. It was not fair to her running back and forth answering phones and serving tables. The food and sushi was delicious as always though. There was at most 4 people trying the whole place, one doing sushi, one cooking and the two servers. It was not good service like it usually is and we go there often.
The food is good and they give a lot of food. Sushi rolls are very very expensive though $3.00 and up for a piece. Other sushi restaurants you can get a whole roll for $6.00. One big positive is that this restaurant is very clean also the service is good.
Service was pretty bad and the food here has definitely gotten worse over time. I've eaten here for years but not anymore after I noticed that some dishes now have that cheap Chinese takeout taste. The place is still nice and the sushi is good but they need to get their act together.
The best sushi in the area when I can manage to eat it. I have a severe sesame seed allergy and twice now I have specifically told them about it and I have picked up my sushi only to go home and see it’s covered in sesame seeds. When I call to report the issue they simply tell me I can come back for a new one but that’s a 30 minute trip each way.
Just picked up food to go. started with an egg roll. Absolutely no flavor or taste to it at all. Could have been shredded paper. Disappointed

Ordered beef with broccoli. Shrimp with broccoli came out. They corrected it but when check came had shrimp with broccoli. When I questioned it the waitress told me they are the same price. Usually shrimp is more. When we left I checked the menu and beef was cheaper. They had an attitude and told me the computer has it more than the written menu. That is fraud. They refunded the difference ($1) but had a major attitude about it. Needless to say I will never be returning there.
I usually dine in here but today I did take out and I was highly disappointed. I ordered the sesame chicken and it’s usually crispy and fresh. Today it was very soggy and dry on the inside with no flavor as if they gave me an old batch from earlier and warmed it up. It did not taste fresh at all.
Ordered take out, specifically spicy tuna. Wasn’t spicy at all and tasted like plain mush. Couldn’t finish it. Was really craving Izumi but they were closed. Next time will wait, save your money.
Sushi was terrible not advertised well at all. I've never had sushi this poorly made in my life. not worth it go to Izumi instead
I will never go to this horrible place again. Not only do they lie but they discriminate by the way people dress. My husband ordered food and they said 25 minutes. I went to go get the food and the woman said oh no sorry 10 more minutes. Then she said you no pay me now. So I paid and I went out and came back in 10 minutes and the food still wasn't ready. Funny thing is other people that came after me got their food and paid when they got it. I will never order from this place again. She was so quick to take my money but not quick to give me my food. Almost an hour later I finally got my food. I would rather see the place be demolished then order food from there again.i wouldn't come here again if I was on fire and they were my hope for life.
