They made the food fresh right as I ordered it and it was ready quickly. And it's such a good deal! Gotta love the prices. The lunch menu looked good too, so I will be going back to try some more stuff. They had all my favorite country dishes. Breakfast was great and it's so close by, so I will be going there way more often now that I know its good and super cheap.
Very pleasant breakfast experience. Food was fairly priced and the service and cleanliness of restaurant was excellent. Also, I have a large truck and the parking lot was easy to maneuver.
Driving from Virginia Beach to Chapel Hill, I saw this, and I just knew I had to do a u-turn and stop in. I was not disappointed, this is a straightforward buffet restaurant with some of the best fried chicken in recent memory, the sides stood up well, the staff is pleasant, and the price is right. It is attached to a convenience store and gas station as well.
Country Junction is the perfect spot for anyone used to eating small town breakfast. Don’t go in expecting anything fancy, but it is so delicious for the price. The people working there are so sweet and it feels like a little community. Please support this business!!! ❤️
No frills diner, giving you a no frills diner experience. Exactly what you expect, which is great! Eggs are made how they're supposed to be, bacon is crispy, etc. Unbelievably low prices, especially compared to the quality. Definitely worth a visit if you like diners.
This is where the real locals of Chapel Hill go! First off, it’s cash only but doesn’t worry, they have an ATM outside the door. The food is fresh. You walk into the restaurant and move immediately to your left and place your order for your meat. Then you pay; after you get your plate you go over to the bar and get your vegetables. I recommend the onion rings and the green beans are scrumptious. This place is no fuss and all food
Good food at reasonable prices. The service is nice for the kind of establishment. It is a small hometown restaurant, order at the counter or buffet with limited seating, bit very clean. If we are in that town again I will stop again.
If you're looking for an old school, non-fancy place to eat, this is the spot. I had a steak biscuit, hash browns, grits, and coffee for $10. The food was good. The biscuit was especially good.
The service is great and the food is decent. How much more you can ask for out of a place like this
I wish I could say I had something to eat from here but unfortunately all the meat is pork and I don't eat country fried steak. I thought it was a cute place and it smelled delicious first thing in the morning. I was hungry after working all night and I had my heart set on this place. Usually hole in the wall spots are really good. I can't give a bad review because I didn't eat anything hut I wish they had other options outside of pork.
Just ran in quick to get a couple Bacon Egg and Cheese sandwiches and the price is great food was great customer service was good nothing bad to say but I wasn't in there long enough to know if it's 5star definitely seems nice
First time in here! Decided to grab some breakfast on my way to the farmer's market this morning. When I say this place is no frills, I mean it. That's not a dig, btw, the restaurant is very clean. Didn't check out the bathrooms, but if there anything like the dining room, you'll be fine. I got their breakfast plate and a cup of coffee. All for under $10!! Great deal! I got 2 eggs, scrambled, grits sausage, and big ole buttery biscuit. The lady at the counter was friendly and helpful. The coffee was super hot and fresh, perfect way to start my Saturday. Didn't have to wait more than 5 minutes for my meal. Food was delicious. It did come on a styrofoam plate, which is a little off putting, but I'll look past it. The only critique/warning I'd give to you would be customers is this, some of the crowd there was a bit interesting, might be why they weren't busy at 830am on a Saturday morning...just leave it at that... Not sure if I'll be back or not but it fulfilled my needs for a quick, hot breakfast!
I gave a good rating because I got excited that there is another location. I frequently visited your location in Durham, NC. Now they are closed and I really miss the atmosphere and the people that worked there. I hope you guys are open in Carrboro, NC. Hopefully, you will see me soon.
I see the phrase "no frills" used a lot in describing this place, and I have to agree. This is place is a no frills kinda place, and that kinda lends to its appeal. You order your protein and drink, pay for it, then sit down. It comes out to you on a styrafoam tray and you take it to their side bar and top up on what you want. Outside of your standard Yelp,FB, and Google reviews, Country Junction doesn't seem to have a huge social media presence. In a world where I'm seeing IG stories of newer hip, restaurants with colorful drinks and smoke and mirrors advertising, Country Junction by contrast is more akin to that kinda shack restaurant you find while wandering the back roads between Lexington and K-Vegas. As for the food...when I say "no frills" I really mean no frills. They don't try to be fancy and that reflects in the food. I ordered the country steak and gravy and to be honest it was very mid. The breading and texture of the patty definitely gave off preprocessed and frozen. The gravy was and okay texture but didn't really add any complexity to the meal. Country fried steak is one of my favorite country dishes and I live for going to little home cooking spots like these to see how they make theirs, so I've been exposed to quite a few variances of this dish. Flavor wise, it was mostly just salty...there wasn't really a whole lot going on outside of that. Luckily they had some condiments near by that I made use of to "kick it up a notch". For my sides and I had rice and turnip greens mainly. Those were pretty standard, didn't really stand out, but not complaining either. Final Thoughts: I went into this place blind and left feeling full and satisfied. I think that's why I'm writing this, because I think it's important to go in with expectations somewhat tempered and not expecting the best food in the world. To put things in perspective, I think I paid ~$12 for my meal. That might sound like paying too much for something mid-tasting, but honestly when you look at McDonald's or Wendy's burger combos, they're pretty comparable in price for similar quality. You do get to have multiple trips to the side bar which imo makes Country Junction the better value. The food wasn't great but it was decent and filling and at an affordable price point, and I think that's the niche market that CJ fills. In an increasingly populated and food trendy area, it's a place where blue collared folks can go and get a satisfying meal for <$20.
So I had a chicken biscuit, which was not real chicken. It was a processed chicken patty ... Not happy about that. But my eggs and grits were good. Not sure if I will try their food again the next time I'm in Chapel Hill.
Non existent food portions Minimum menu selection High prices w/o options Service was poor at best Unclean an unkempt
The people that work there are nice and the service is great but the food is not good. I have gone 3 times now and they struck out. First time I went I got the sausage biscuit which was good for the price but I wouldn't order it again. The second time I got the BBQ sandwich, it had a mold spot on the bun and the pork was not that great. The last time I went I got the country fried steak and it was a solid no for me. The country fried steak was dry and the gravy was like a brown glue-like paste. I would not recommend going here.
Seriously don't understand the 4.3 rating here. Its important for small businesses to thrive, but the food served here is very bad. I threw my food out. If I thought for a minute that returning it would have made a difference, I would have. We ordered same thing, sausage biscuit and a drink. $9+...The food quality is below microwaveable grade, unfriendly service, and over priced. Skip it go to Wendy's, that would be a step above. Plenty of better choices for breakfast, like Elmo's Diner. Sad this business could be great, needs an overhaul!
