Ba Lee Sandwich Shop

We found out about the place after watching a YouTube video that showcased the restaurant. Upon arrival, we noticed it is a small restaurant, almost mirroring a purely takeout spot, but they did have two tables with a few seats so seating is minimal. They have a basic yet effective menu. We went specifically for the banh mi and stuck to that. They have 7 different sandwich options. They had a promotion of buy 5 get 1 free so we got 6 out of the 7 sandwiches. We also got coconut water and sugarcane drinks. Everything was so good! As always, there will always be one sandwich that is preferred than others and that was the combination for us although the grilled pork was a close second. The sandwich bread was so crispy and the vegetables perfectly balanced the meats. The drinks were great, but next time I would try the coconut sugarcane combination. It's a great bang for your buck and we will definitely be back soon!

I’m dumbfounded that I’ve never found this place before. It was our first time here and we opted for the buy 5, get 6 to see which ones we would like. Little did we know, they were really filling and we only got through 2. Much larger than at other places we’ve gone to. Meat was delicious, veggies were crisp, and bread was fresh. Owners seemed really nice too. Can’t wait to come back. 10/10!

Stumbled upon this shop last year and have consistently gone back! The shop owners are extremely sweet and the sandwiches are excellent! I wanted to do a banh mi charcuterie board for lunar new year and they were wonderful helping me estimate how much food would be appropriate for the amount of people and the best way to arrange the boards. They also offered to cut all the sandwiches into 3 parts for me to help out!!! Wonderful shop that goes above and beyond!!! Highly recommend!!!

These banh mi's are amazing, especially knowing they make the pork roll in-house, that's amazing! The sandwiches are hollowed out which makes for a better eating experience, as it creates a perfect balance of crusty baguette, pickled veg and meats! The classic combination and crushed meatball hit it out of the park! What could possibly make this even better?? $5 a sandwich does!!! Especially when you buy 5, you get 1 free! Service was outstanding as well, thank you!

Since being here in Texas, it seemed difficult to find almost any Asian food that was remotely close to what I grew up with. This was the spot that brought back nostalgia for me, mainly the sandwiches - the special combo & sliced pork roll. Very delicious, good ratio between meat and vegetables, the liver pate will always be my favorite. The sugar cane drink was alright. Not as sweet as I had anticipated nor was it close to what I remembered it tasting like, but that's just preference.

One of the best banh mi's I've had and the $5 price tag absolutely cannot be beat. The combination sandwich has the "classic" Viet cold cuts, and I highly recommend that. Only downside is that it's not open on weekends and 9-5 on weekdays means it's inconvenient for anybody who won't be able to go there for lunch.

Thankyou Tina #doobydobap for this recommendation on this hidden gem! I drove from downtown Dallas to try the banh mi and sugar cane drink and let me tell you.... it was totally worth the drive! Andy (owner I think) helped us and took our order and was very helpful and nice. I ordered what Tina had on her you tube video which was the number 2 and 5. I was so excited to try this because out of all the places Tina ate at in Dallas, this was her number one bite and by far her best banh mi by far she had ever had. That's some high praise so I had to try for myself! I took another banh mi lover with me. We both ordered the same. There is no seating inside so prepare to eat in car or take home. We ate off the trunk of my car and it immediately put a smile on my face. The French bread was so crispy and was the perfect vehicle to hold all the fresh ingredients and house made meats. It paired so well with the sugar cane, but honestly this sandwich would go with anything! I will definitely come back for this banh mi even though it's a drive. The value for the quality and freshness is unmatched and you would be a fool not to come here to try this banh mi! I would give 6 stars if I could. Maybe add 1 or 2 tables for people like me to eat at but that's just a bonus, I'll still come and happily eat outside or in the car. Lol. Well anyways, if you don't try this place, your just dumb. Haha jk. Not really.

This banh mi place is amazing! I found it reading Reddit forums. The lady working the service desk is very kind. We order the #2 and #5 banh mi and they both were extremely delicious. The sugar cane is freshly pressed. Everything taste fresh. This will be my permanent banh mi go to place ❤️

Best banh mi sandwhich place I've been to dfw. I got the special with headcheese and loved it. I dont even like headcheese but I guess I do now. Sandwhich was toasted perfectly, and all the fixes inside were perfect. And the price was on point. I'll be coming back often!

The owner was super helpful when we asked about getting supplies for a banh mi charcuterie. They made it super easy to set up a beautiful board. We purchased the cha lua, pickled veggies, baguette, pate, and mayo from here. The only things we had to get on our own were cucumbers, cilantro, and jalapeños. The board was a HIT, not a single piece remained at the end! The fan favorite was the delicious homemade pâté and mayo. I really recommend this shop not just for their delicious sandwiches but for their kind service too! Picture shows the banh mi board in the back :)

First time here. I tried a couple of their bahn mi. I had the grilled pork and the chicken. Between the two I think I had a slight preference for the chicken. Size wise I think these were above average but not huge. Seating for just a few in the restaurant so you might assume that you’ll have to take out. I would go back for sure when I’m out that way.

Pretty solid banh mi! I had the combo cold cut. The pate was a little more textured than I would like overall it satisfied my cravings. The bread was nice and soft yet chewy with a tad of crunch from the exterior. Pickled veggies were really good! 👍 Tried the nem chua - probably the better ones I’ve had in dfw. I saw $5 for banh mi on their social but maybe it’s walk-in only. DoorDash be taxing $6.85 per one 😂

I understand that inflation affects everyone, but $6.85 ($6.50 for chicken) for one bánh mì, compared to $5 before, seems a bit steep. Even when part of the payment was made in cash, the total still came out about the same as if I had paid by card. Previously, I could order 12 sandwiches for about $50, but now it costs $70.77. I still like the food, but it’s sad to think that the price increase makes it hard for me to buy it as often as I used to.

Not that great. The baguette is pretty flat and thin, not crispy or fresh. The filling is pretty lackluster too. I bought two but I don’t think I’ll finish both of them

Disappointed — Food Safety Concerns My son and I both got food poisoning after eating here. We really wanted to like this place, but shortly after having lunch around 11:00 a.m., we both felt sick — upset stomach, multiple trips to the bathroom, and even vomiting for my four-year-old. We had the special Ba Lee sandwich, and it seems something in it wasn’t fresh. It’s very disappointing and concerning, especially when a child gets sick. I hope the restaurant takes food safety more seriously, because we can’t take the risk of coming back.
