Was not expecting this place to be as good as it was! We enjoyed our food variety of crab Rangoon’s, sweet and sour chicken, sesame chicken, egg drop soup and egg rolls. Good portions, well prepared and steaming hot. The fortune cookies are on point, inside and out 😁
Today we tried Zao's Chinese Kitchen, and we are glad we did. The service was pleasant and quick. We placed our order Mongolian with a combination of protein and Chicken Moo Goo with bean sprouts. Absolutely delicious and enjoyed our lunch/first visit very much. We will be back.
Excellent Chinese food, the freshest ingredients, expertly prepared. This locally owned and operated spot is the best restaurant in this end of town. The staff/owners are very friendly and efficient. Best hot and sour soup I've ever had. Everything we have tried has been absolutely delicious.
Excellent food! Prepared precisely on time for pick-up. Followed allergy-based requests without fail.
Solid Wok flavor and nice service. Had their black bean sauce with tofu and their combo fried rice. Serving size is adequate for the price - but for the quality it’s quite fair.
Perfect for ordering to go. The food is delicious and fresh! Best wings, the lemon pepper were so good. The owner and everyone who works there are so nice. My go to when I want to go.
This is definitely not the kind of Chinese place where your one order of orange chicken is going to last three days. Portion sizes are smaller, but the flavor makes up for it. My combo lo mein was delicious and the crab rangoon was some of the best I've had.
My family and I love the food here! They have affordable lunch specials and portion sizes for lunch and dinner are large. It’s an intimate place with a few tables. The food is prepared fresh, and service is friendly. I’ve tried multiple dishes and love them all. Pork egg rolls are 🔥.
My dad wanted Chinese food for his birthday and this place had good ratings so we went here. The young lady at the counter was very nice and friendly. Our food came out hot, fresh, and prompt, and it was delicious. My husband's only feedback was that his tofu was a little oily but mine was fine, it didn't bother me. It's not a fancy date type place, but the food and service are great. We will have it again.
We have been ordering from Zao’s regularly since it opened and have always been satisfied with their food and service! I have always postponed writing my review but today I really want to give a big shout out for their huge effort last night, following the storm in the area and a difficult week for everyone accessing food. Zao’s was ready to serve us last night. They were extremely busy with take-out orders as not all restaurants were able to open so fast. They still managed to serve a very large amount of customers, although some substitutions had to be made because they run out of some items. They called me twice while I was waiting for my order to be delivered, keeping me updated about the substitutions and they delivery delay. Zao’s is definitely a nice local business to support! Coming from California, I really missed the easy accessibility of Asian food and I am so glad to have this restaurant in our neighborhood. The food is good and they are consistently providing a great experience! Thank you Zao’s!
I ordered the salt and pepper shrimp spicy with a side of fried rice and pan fried noodles with chicken. The food was super fresh and absolutely delicious! Good portion size too! I recommend this place to anyone and everyone craving Chinese food. I will be trying more of their menu items soon. Thanks for the delicious food Zao's, keep up the good work. 👍🏻
My daughter (13) and I tried this place for the first time this evening The girl on the phone was sweet I ordered a variety of items, they were all pretty good and well portioned we will have leftovers for sure ,but best of all the girl on the phone said it would be 30 mins until food was delivered it was here in 20, the delivery driver was very sweet , so the service was on point and the food could have been a little better but was decent . We will obviously be ordering again soon ❤️🫶🏻 thank you
This is our new favorite Chinese takeout place. The egg rolls are crispy and delicious, the tofu is pressed and crispy, my husband says the cashew chicken was near prefect, and the staff is an utter delight. Reasonably priced, quick service, and an easy to access location means we will continue to pick up food here for a long time!
Chose this restaurant specifically to avoid using Doordash, and couldn't be happier! Food was hot, fast, and tasty! The delivery guy was super nice, and it was all around a great experience. :)
I went for lunch and had the orange chicken with hot & sour soup. For $10.95 and the amount of food you get, it’s a steal. The food was really good. Highly recommend.
Went as a family of four and ordered fried dumplings + garlic edamame + Thai sticky chicken for appetizers. The dumplings were crispy and piping hot. The edamame was well cooked and the chicken was juicy and super spicy. For mains, we got the vermicelli Bowl, zaos fire bowl and zaos fried rice. Everything was great but the zaos fire bowl was not spicy enough. Had to add half the jar of chilli oil from the table but the resulting flavour was perfect. The noodles absorbed the spice really well and that elevated the dish. The fried rice was really good too. The vermicelli Bowl was literally perfect. It tasted great and is pretty healthy. Service was top notch. The cashier helped with everything and answered any questions I had. Stellar service from the server and cashier. Would definitely come back 10/10.
Love this place for lunch!! Great portion sizes and food is sooo good!!!
I was nervous this place wouldn’t be as good as a sit down restaurant, but I was wrong! The portions sized are perfect, it comes with a side of rice, and the flavor is so authentic. I’ve tried a few restaurants in CP that were more expensive yet the flavor of the food tasted off. This will be one of my weekly go to spots- fast service, clean restaurants, excellent tasting food!
Great atmosphere and super friendly family staff. We had the pan fried noodles with beef and General Tso Chicken....both were delish. The former superhero art is gone (nod to former owners), but in its place is an amazing hand painted mural that you should check out.
OMG!! I’m putting this gem of a restaurant on my list(6 places as of now). We only eat at local restaurants(vote with your dollars) after reading ALL the reviews, we decided to try. So happy we did. The fried egg rolls were crispy(chef’s kiss) also they were able to modify his order(chicken fried rice no onions) and I went with General Tso’s chicken(so good, perfect heat)as is. If I wasn’t starving I would have had leftovers too. But it was so good, I ate it all. The prices were good. I liked the dining area, I felt like I was in a foreign land(In a good way). We will be back. And often. Thank you.
This place has always been our local favorite. Consistently great food! And always ready on or before time. The wall art is amazing!
WoW! Daughter asked to eat here tonight. First ever visit. Everyone is sooo nice! Food Excellent. We got served soo fast too! Prices are Great! Feels like a true Family operation. We are coming here more often.
Ordered orange chicken, Chicken fried rice and Hot Garlic. My family liked them and I liked the Hot Garlic best.
Great inexpensive food. I usually get the Kung Pao chicken. They don't get things very spicy but i keep going back. Lunch, soup and an egg roll for $7.85? Yes, please!

My husband loves this food. it's really good. I don't blame him for loving it but he's on the border of obsessed with it. he gets excited like a little kid when we're going to order it for the weekend, dinner or lunch. the portions are great. the food is good. it's clean food. I don't know how else to describe it. sometimes when we get Chinese food it seems not so fresh or something. I don't know how to describe it. it's just clean and it tastes really good and they have a large variety of things. the mushroom broccoli is so good. their house sauce is amazing. my husband loves the kung pao with beef. we both live for their soup and their blue crab rangoons you haven't tried it. you really should. we just ordered a giant order and the prices are pretty good because I did not expect it to be as cheap as it was cuz we ordered everything. definitely give it a try buy say five stars hands down the best Chinese in town
What a great place for a tasty lunch and bertha took great care of us! We dropped by and I ordered a lunch special chicken General Tso's , I loved. The veggie rolls were also yummy. The 🔥shrimp Noodles Soup is remarkable 🥰 . I will return here soon..definitely recommend this place!

Good American Chinese food, especially compared to the rest of the competition around Austin. Their online ordering is also well designed with all the optional choices I look for (such as opting out of Broccoli) I wish they offered a Wonton soup option though. I'm not a huge fan of the thick egg soups. Both times I've been there for a pickup the food was hot and ready. The staff was welcoming and helpful. This definitely isn't authentic Chinese cuisine though, so don't get confused by the other reviewers saying it is. It's a typical American Chinese menu.
This used to be my hands down favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. The last two times I ordered the food portions were exceptionally small - with the Uber Eats markup, each entree was $14 to $17 plus tip. I think the portion sizes were about half. The sweet and sour chicken leaked everywhere. The food was still good but not as good as in the past. We'll give them one more try before switching to another we like.
We came for lunch with a couple of friends and it was a very good meal. The woman behind the counter was so much fun and she attended to our every little need. I recommend it for solid Chinese food.
Decided to try Zao’s instead when going to eat pizza. It was very reasonably priced and it was fantastic! The sesame chicken and egg drop soup were great, and it came out fast! Definitely will be back.
Some of the best Chinese food in Cedar Park. The staff made some good recommendations. There are about 5 or 6 tables, with 4 seats each. It’s mainly a self-service place (so I don’t understand the tip options starting at 15% and going to 20%). The hand drawn flower art on the wall is cool. The prices are a little above normal, but the food is pretty great.

I spent $33 and just didn't enjoy it. I had sesame chicken [dinner portion] and it was maybe a lunch portion. They tasted okay. The lo mein noodles were dry and thin. The dumplings were on par with the same product from HEB, but HEB gives you twice as much. I won't be back. It's just not a good value or good tasting.
Delivery was quite fast, but the food was disappointing. The "Hot Garlic" sauce tasted more burned and smokey than "tangy spice garlic" and the hot and sour soup was bland. The egg rolls were small and lacked flavor, while the sweat and sour sauce for them tasted a bit like ketchup.
The spring rolls were crunchy with a good filling. But the chicken fried rice was partly dried out. It also tasted bland. I was expecting so much more from such a basic Chinese dish. I don't know if I'll go back.

We ordered chicken lo mein with mild spice and it was so spicy my daughter couldn’t eat it. I called to ask if they had mixed up the order and was told no and that their spicy is pretty spicy. So just be aware.
First thing, food was okay, but the fact that I clearly ordered teriyaki sauce with while me and my fiance were ordering to go, while another employee was helping the dumb dude cashier, and said she'd put it on the side (not even offering to mix it in was already an unprofessional sign), they dumb staff STILL doesn't put the teriyaki sauce in the to go bags. I would avoid this place definitely and go to UMIYA instead and have authentic good Japanese and great service.
Food was excellent, service not so much! She definitely did NOT want to be there. No water refills, was missing one of three utilities and when asked to bring firmly placed on table. We had to ask for check which she never returned for and we had to take to counter. No smile the entire time, fortunately our daughter has eaten there before and said this is the first time she's experienced this type of service and attitude. Not certain if this is her norm or if she was just having a really horrible evening just like her service.
Went to order the same thing I ordered a few months ago, and everything went up in price. I like the food, but its too expensive now. Will be looking for a new spot.
We ordered 3 dishes and soup. The chicken wings were awful and the chicken tasted rotten. The orange chicken had an overbearing taste and the salt and pepper shrimp was deep fried with no shells. This is not authentic Chinese food. The soup was ok. In addition the menu is very limited. I was hoping for a much better experience but unfortunately it didn’t happen.
Very disappointing. Fried rice was fine. Sweet & sour and General Tso's were also both fine (but not what I would call good). Cashew tofu was completely inedible. Had a nasty astringent chemically taste.
While the dumplings were excellent, I was unimpressed by the sesame chicken. It was overcooked and dry, and the sauce mostly tasted too much like soy sauce. Everyone that worked there was very kind, and the place was clean. Still, I was disappointed in the quality of the food.
Probably the worst General Tso Chicken I have ever had. The hot and sour soup tasted off in flavor and portions were real small in general. Not sure how they are getting 5 star reviews.
I got friend rice with shrimp and it wasn't worth the price.
$54 of food and the portions are small, the veggies are not cooked, white rice is undercooked, meat is over cooked. Manager was rude and said it was my taste buds and even though we ate none of the food after the first bite refused to give refund or recook the food. If you want a diet I would recommend trying this place as it will make you lose your appetite real quick!
If I could give them no stars I would. Serving size is ridiculous for the price. Called and got a “I’m sorry they looked pretty full to me.” Never going back again. And I wouldn’t order from here if I were you! Save your money and go elsewhere. Was told the much servings are smaller.
Foods decent, but I ordered from here on October 20th, and my order was canceled because the restaurant "couldn't fulfill my order" it said I'd receive my money within 3 business days, still nothing.

There was a snail shell in my lo mein. I found this when I crunched down on it. This was my first and last time trying this place. I have reached out and have not heard back yet about a refund.
This take out delivery was the worst. The egg drop soup was green and smelled awful and the other tasted like crap. This was such a bad place to eat 1 out of 10 definitely won’t come back.
