We had an incredible meal at Bentley’s last night! Highlights were the steak tartare (perhaps the best I’ve had), scallops, and the bananas foster (prepared tableside!). The atmosphere was perfect for an upscale dinner out to celebrate an anniversary-which the restaurant celebrated with a crème brûlée! The best part, though, was the service. Bruce and Hannah went above and beyond to make our evening special. They were so attentive, and we never had to ask for anything! They anticipated every need, every piece of flatware, and times everything perfectly. This will be on our regular rotation from now on. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!!
Bentley's knocked it out of the park for our rehearsal dinner for 60 people followed by a welcome party for over 150. The food was incredible and the service was impeccable. I was amazed that they were able to take individual orders from the limited menu and execute hot, quality meals at the same time. This is rare for a large event and I am an event planner. The decor is very light and bright. Kay made sure every detail was taken care of and she and Jimmy were so helpful the day of the event. Our guests raved about the event and many said it was the nicest rehearsal dinner they had ever been to. Thanks to the whole Bentleys team!
My wife and I just celebrated our 31st anniversary at Bentley’s. It was the best meal we have had in a very long time, and the atmosphere was absolutely perfect—as was the entire staff from the first encounter at the host station and throughout the meal. The food was truly art on a plate with the added bonus that it was delicious from top to bottom — apps to desserts. We chose from some of the owner’s recommendations, and were delighted with the appetizers, the entrées, and desserts. The owner Jim truly could not have been more engaged with our experience. We have been to some great restaurants in the past for our anniversary. But for us, this was an outstanding combination of a romantic atmosphere, excellent service, and incredible food. I am already excited to book a table for our anniversary next year… as well as some dates in between!
One of the best restaurants we've ever eaten at, and that's saying something considering my husband is a chef and is very picky about eating out since he can normally make it himself at home. Went tonight for my husbands birthday and everything was outstanding from the food to the drinks to the service. Everyone ordered something different and we ended up just passing the plates around so that everyone could sample everyone's dishes because it was so unbelievably good. Ordered all three of the table made desserts and the banana fosters was by far the best thing we've all ever tasted. Can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Highly, highly recommend it. One of our biggest complaints whenever we go out lately is that the service is minimal where you're practically begging for water or napkins. The service at Bentleys was OUSTANDING, we had three different waiters who catered to us, even tho there was a huge party (wedding) in the restaurant at the same time, our drinks were always refilled and someone was always checking if we needed anything. Everyone was incredibly friendly and the owner stopped to talk to us for a while. What a wonderful way to celebrate a special occasion, thank you for making our night so memorable!
Bentley's was the venue for my father's surprise 80th birthday party. The party was a huge success. The food was amazing, and the staff was top-notch. I would highly recommend. You will need to be comfortable with the higher prices, but you will not be disappointed.
Bentley's is a great, modern spacious restaurant. You can have a more casual dinner in the bar or you can have a fine dining extravagant dinner. This is a great place when you want to take someone for a special meal, the food is amazing, but the service is what really sets the tone. The servers are friendly and not stuffy, it really makes for a pleasurable experience. This is a great place for a dinner party or rehearsal dinner in Charlotte, NC. If you send an invite to your friends for Bentley's be prepared for 100% to RSVP.
Was wanting to try this place for a while now and visited for my wife's birthday. It was slow being a Wednesday night but the service was really good. Was slightly disappointed in the steak, I ordered medium rare and it came out basically well done, despite there being a big disclaimer on the menu about no guarantees if your order a steak past medium. Flavor was good though so gonna chalk it up as an off night for the cook. The lobster and escargot were really good though. Definitely appreciated the lobster coming out already out of the shell.
With Bentley being part of my brand, I had a great experience at the old location uptown. They showed me alot of love and had great customer service. Great to say, had the same experience at the South Park location. The waiters, Jonathan and Collin explained the menu perfectly for the family. Definitely will be bringing my business clients here in the future! Thank you Bentley's for giving Mr. Bentley and family a great night!
Nice restaurant, in a good location! good menu choice, i liked the oysters with champagne and black caviar! the onion soup and lobster soup were also delicious! Tuna tartar super good 👍🏻
Excellent place, fantastic food, and superb service! Went here tonight for my wife's birthday. They gave us a table with a wonderful view that also allowed both of us to enjoy it while sitting side by side. I ordered the lamb chops, and my wife ordered the halibut. The food was so flavorful! Our 2 servers taking care of us were Jason & Jordan. They were so nice and also funny! We finished up with a birthday dessert that was a creme brulee with a strawberry and cookie that was an excellent finish to a great dinner. Truly a 5 star experience and top notch staff!
Food, and service both were top-notch. The restaurant has a nice interior but could be little better in my opinion. I had lamb chops. It was excellent. The salmon was delicious too.
Wonderful experience with some of the best food I’ve ever tasted. Lamb was absolutely incredible. Service was top notch and our drinks were 10/10. I cannot wait to come here again. Thank you for an incredible birthday dinner.
Food is outstanding. Decided to come here for my birthday dinner and this place exceeded my expectations. My absolute favorite is the lobster Mac and cheese. So delicious. Will definitely be dining here again. Good customer service. Waiter always checked in on us if we needed anything else.
If you think you've already been to every great steak/seafood/upscale dinner joint in Charlotte, but never been here, then you're in for a treat! My wife and I were blown away by the drinks, food, and service (thank you Lauren). Bentley's competes with all the local greats (Del Friscos, Oak, BrickTops, Steak 48) but has the personal touch of a family business - such a wonderful experience! This place may literally be our new go-to spot in Charlotte after just one visit.
I thought they were still high rise but only on 1st floor but ur Waiter was attentive, loved his Eastern accent, gentle soul to us. The Tuna Tartare was 1 of the best I've had & I eat out way 2 much (recommends) he Samn & Filet was also njoyed but if I knew Tuna Tartare was that good, I would have ordered 2 of those
Yes, we had to try this because we’re Bentleys too. Went here for our 30th wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint. Top notch all the way around. Amazing food and service. Might be the best ribeye I’ve had in Charlotte.
I came here for an anniversary dinner. The food was very good. I ordered the lobster bisque, Caesar salad and Bentley oysters as an appetizer. And for an entrée, I had the mahi-mahi market fish. Great presentation on the salad soup in overall majority of the food thus far. I will definitely come back
Lovely experience with incredible food and service. Patio is nicely appointed, great ambiance. Restaurant is beautiful inside. The bourbon filet was unique with amazing flavor.
The food was amazing. We had the Lamb, Veal and Shrimp linguine. For starters, the rolls and whipped garlic butter is one of a kind, absolutely delicious. The meat was cooked to perfection and perfectly seasoned. The gouda mashed potatoes are something ive never experienced before but I will be have them again. The mushroom risotto is good as well. The shrimp linguine could use some more pizazz. The drinks were amazing. The French 75 and the Blueberry smash is a must have. The Skyhigh Lemonade looks good on paper, but its lacking taste. The only disappointment was the fact this place didn't offer a valet service but their were plenty of parking in the parking garage.
Attended a wedding reception dinner here. The servers and the kitchen did a flawless job with several appetizers, salads, soups, entrees... My husband’s filet was cooked perfectly! The salmon and chicken dishes were also perfect! Perfectly cooked and beautifully plated. Well done! The servers and the kitchen are excellent!
Party of 6. Thoroughly enjoyed both service and food. Appetizers: traditional caviar, oysters caviar, lobster bisque, baked brie, escargot Entrées: lamb chops, sole, ribeye, tuna with fr a gr, château de bourron- for 2 Desserts: creme brulee,Bananas foster, chocolate torte All were excellent! Ordered blueberry smash cocktail and it was very good.
What an amazing experience. First time in Charlotte and we were lookin for a fine dining restaurant and Bentley's did not disappoint. We were running late for our reservation and showed up 10 minutes before closing. With the service we received, you would not be able to tell. Our waiter, Keith, was amazing and made the dinner even more enjoyable. We had the crab cake, filet mignon and shrimp scampi, and scallops. For dessert we had cheesecake, flourless chocolate cake, and a complimentary creme brulee. Everything was delicious. It was a great way to end our stay in Charlotte, will definitely be back.
Classy, elegant, delicious. Great menu, wasn’t crowded on a weekday. Attentive, professional service. Steak tartare was excellent! We’ll be back for sure.
Absolutely loved this restaurant! The food was outstanding. The ambience was very nice as there were lights hanging in each window and white tablecloths on each table. The server was attentive and kind. I have no complaints 😊
Food is always top quality,Service with a smile always! Atmosphere is Beautiful. This will always be my celebratory place of choice seeing that i live an hour away. But defintely worth the drive.
My best friend had her wedding reception here! It was phenomenal! From the service to the food! EVERYTHING!
A quick visit to the bar for pre-dinner drinks in the area and we can’t wait to go back and try for dinner. Huge wine list and delicious cocktails. Bar service was great!
Came to Bentley’s to celebrate my birthday and was not disappointed. The food was amazing! I had escargot and grouper, and both were cooked perfectly, and had great taste… The sauce with the grouper was unbelievably good. My wife had the lamb chop and says it was one of the best meals she’s had ever. We will definitely be coming back here!
Bentley's is by far one of the best fine dining restaurants I've had the pleasure of eating at in a while. Although, COVID is discouraging plenty of people from dining in I would say this restaurant handled themselves extremely well with social distancing and reminders of when the last drink or meal can be ordered. The food here was simply amazing and worth every dime in my opinion. I didnt mind spending the market price for the fried lobster tail and the bisque was simple the most delicious one I had in a while. The staff was amazing and quite sweet. I would recommend coming here for a nice romantic dinner or a beautiful birthday celebration without all of the traffic and crowdiness of downtown fine dining.
Absolutely phenomenal! I had the scallops and they were cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and beautifully plated. The service was just as impressive, with a warm and attentive staff who made the whole experience feel special. Bentley’s truly delivers on both quality and presentation. Highly recommend if you’re looking for an elevated dining experience in Charlotte!
The cuisine was exquisite — each dish showcased remarkable flavor, freshness, and presentation. The service was impeccable, with staff demonstrating professionalism, attentiveness, and genuine courtesy throughout the evening. The atmosphere was elegant and refined, creating a perfect setting for an enjoyable and memorable meal. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a truly first-class dining experience.
10 out of 10 for sure from the lobster bisque , steak to their salmon and I’ve tried a few things on the menu! Everything is absolutely excellent. Tylor is the best! We ask for him whenever we go!
Phenomenal ambiance, service, and food. Highly recommend to those who are seeking a fine dining experience with a French twist. The French onion soup was superb, also much praise to the bartenders as the drinks were well-polished and accommodated personalized creativity. The escargot was served in a very seasoned and perfect fashion — bubbling when served and maintaining its temperature throughout. The owner is a great individual and is constantly checking up on tables and their respective guests to ensure quality service.
Excellent atmosphere for a delicious dinner. Taylor did a great job explaining and taking care of our orders. Try the tuna tartare and the barramundi for sure. ECHANTE and Blessed Be
We celebrated our wedding anniversary here last night. Everything was perfect. Food is the best in town, easy parking, excellent wine list, decadent desserts and the service was impeccable. Expensive but worth every cent. We felt welcomed by all staff and could have sat for hours! Great ambience, not too loud even when they are busy and in spite of a busy night the staff appeared calm and happy to explain the menu and wines in detail. Easily the best in Charlotte.
The food was good. This was our first time eating quail which was good but different. My steak was good but I’ve had better at other places for less money. The service was phenomenal. The decor and aesthetics was very nice. We will be back to try some other dishes.
The food, wine & customer service were amazing! Matthew was very funny, kind and attentive. Only thing I didn’t appreciate was my lobster mac & cheese was semi cold. Other than that it was great. Will definitely return.
I dined at Bentley’s restaurant recently solely for the caviar service, and it did not disappoint. I ordered the kaluga caviar, and it was presented beautifully with all of the accompaniments you’d expect with caviar. The bellini were thinner than typical, but that let the caviar shine even more. I also ordered the tuna carpaccio. The tuna was seared and the cuts were thicker than I would expect from a carpaccio, so I would say it leans more into ahi tuna. Nevertheless, it was delicious. The waitstaff was attentive without being overbearing. The only thing I didn’t have a totally positive experience with were the shaken cocktails. They had chunks of ice in them, and the espresso martini had an odd consistency. Overall, it was a positive experience, and the caviar service met every expectation.
The bar is stunning, with opulent decor and light fixtures. The food was very good, priced reasonably and what you would expect for fine dining. The service could have been better. Drinks came slowly, and I didn’t feel the server was very engaging. Study the menu before you because there isn’t much guidance offered by the server. I would go back and hopefully get better service next time. My one suggestion to the management team: please dim the lighting! It was way too bright for evening dining. Everyone in our seven-person party agreed on this.
Beautiful building. The bar area is wonderful. It was a Monday night so maybe that is why the food was not really up to the standards anticipated.
The ambiance was wonderful the Diver Scallops were AMAZING, THE STEAK was AMAZING, The Grown up Mac & Cheese, not so much. The waiter was cool. We had a great time, check em out..
Nice quiet place to have dinner. Table set up abide by social distancing regulations. Service in general was good, food was delicious. Recommended big time. I think is a little pricy for food and services, though but overall is a nice place. And no, it is no longer located in the high building. It is now in a new location. Sorry no nice views of the city.
Food is exceptional. Service is lacking for a place this nice. Casual approach to fine dining is okay, but it took the staff 20 min to take our appetizer order and we finished our appetizers and waited another 20 minutes after we were done eating before waitress received our entree orders. Staff is nice, but lacks attention. Still highly recommend. Atmosphere would be far better with better music and by dimming the lights. I would go back regularly for the food. Quite exquisite.
I was invited to Bentley’s for a birthday party. The reservation was made for 8 people so we expected the gratuity. Just a heads up, any party over 6, 1 check comes out for the table and you can either split the ticket or everyone pay 1 person their part. Anyway, after finding parking in the garage deck, the walk is short to the restaurant. The atmosphere was nice and the drinks were made right. Hats off to the bartender who made mine! The menu is limited which is expected for this type of restaurant. The cheapest dish on the menu is a salad for like $13 and the most expensive I believe was a like over $100. The menu doesn’t include a chicken dish so you’re left with red meat or seafood for my meat eaters. The staff were knowledgeable and attentive. The food did take a minute to come out but was hot when it did. I ordered the Stuffed Shrimp Provençal. The dish has four stuffed shrimp, small roasted potatoes, and Brussels sprouts for $38. While we had a great time and I really enjoyed the strawberry cheesecake shortcake, I will not visit Bentley’s again. To me the food was just ok. I would recommend trying them as the other guests really loved what they ordered.
Room for improvement Pros: overall the food was good. The ambiance was romantic and we received out food in a timely manner. Cons: the bread was subpar at best. It was served very hard with cold butter. It was so hard it cut the roof of my mouth. Secondly, my alcoholic drink (believe it was something with lemonade in it) was very watered down.
Thoroughly mediocre. First strike no valet parking. Don’t really appreciate dressing up and walking from a parking garage. They sat us at a booth at the end that was so small we could barely fit. I’m average size, my wife is super thin, if we can’t fit they should just lose that table. We changed tables. Atmosphere is cold, uninviting and too bright. Felt like a restaurant in a hotel lobby. Service was slow and inattentive. I thought they forgot the cocktail sauce for the shrimp cocktail then realized there was one small spoonful on top of a leaf. Kudos on creativity but barely enough for one prawn. While preparing our chateaubriand at the table side our sever explained to her trainee how what she was doing did nothing and was all “For show”. I’m trying to imagine paying to go to a show where the performer was explaining to another on stage what she was doing and how it was for show. If it was “For show” she forgot who the audience was. The flavor of the chateaubriand was fine but I’ve had better. The lobster bisque was a bit runny, not terribly rich. When she brought the crème brûlée desert she put it on the table without any spoons. We had to stop her and ask. The brûlée sugar on top was too much and too hard. With so many great fine dining options in Charlotte such as capital grille, deans, palm, oak, del frisco, Ruth’s Chris’s, Fleming, beef and bottle, Morton’s, Sullivans I would not return here. Others must feel the same because we were there from 7pm-8:30 Saturday night and they appeared to be less than 30% occupancy.
This was our first time dining here, and unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. We understand that it was Valentine’s Day, but the restaurant was not very busy, and we still waited an extended amount of time just to be acknowledged. Someone eventually brought our drinks, but again we were left waiting for quite a while. When our waitress finally came over, her attitude was extremely rude. She didn’t greet us or say hello she simply walked up and said, “What do you want?” I tried to be polite and said hello and asked how she was, and she responded shortly and continued to be unpleasant. It honestly felt like she was annoyed to be serving us. Due to her behavior, I asked for a different waitress because the interaction was so uncomfortable. Overall, this was not a great first impression at all. Poor service can completely ruin a dining experience, and sadly that’s what happened here. We expected much better.
I went here with 5 of my girlfriends to celebrate my birthday 7/15/2022. We ordered about 8 different appetizers, we each had 2 rounds of drinks, entrees and desert. The food was fantastic except for the fact I did like lobster macaroni I ordered and my friend didn’t like how much bourbon was poured over her filet. She simply wanted her steak cooked differently and I didn’t want the side of macaroni. Our waiter Eric became enraged and extremely rude. He refused to let us speak with the owner, he boxed the food and sat it on the floor, then proceeded to yell at us, all while his coworkers joined in on the mocking. One coworker even bragged “If you don’t like the way I’m talking to you then you don’t want to talk to Jim“. I later learned Jim was the owner and had left 30 minutes prior. I was visiting the city for my birthday and never felt so belittled and disrespected.
My wife and I frequent Bentleys a lot. Typically having a great time, up until yesterday (Valentines). Food was cold, cowboy rib eye room temp, wife’s diver scallops less than room temp. Server (owners daughter) barely checked in. Worst part of the experience was noticing the owner check in and speak with all the other patrons except my wife and I and another younger couple seated behind us. Not a good look as it came across as discriminatory. We have been to oak steakhouse equally as many times and ownership there is leaps and bounds more hospitable. Mentioned this to the host on the way out about ownership and instead of acknowledging and taking accountability she responded with attitude and failed to see the point, if this keeps up place will be out of business sooner than later.
I had one of the worst dining experiences of my life at Bentley’s Charlotte last night; I brought someone special here for her birthday and expected a refined evening. What we received instead was rushed service; lukewarm food; dismissive management; and an unprovoked verbal confrontation from a staff member as we were leaving. To start, our server Jaime was pleasant; however the pacing immediately felt rushed. We had just ordered cocktails and appetizers and were trying to relax, talk, and enjoy each other’s company. Despite that, she hinted that we should order everything at once and assured us she would “course it out.” We were not ready; and when she came back again asking for our entrées, I had to stop her and ask if there were any specials. Only then did she share them. It clearly felt like the goal was to turn the table quickly and not allow us to enjoy the evening at our own pace. When our entrées arrived, both dishes were lukewarm; not restaurant-quality hot; so technically cold. I ordered the New Zealand Elk Chops medium rare; the doneness of the meat was correct; however the temperature to taste was not. My date’s Stuffed Shrimp Provencal was also barely warm; she simply chose not to make it an issue. Before our server could return, another staff member approached the table; a barback or server who introduced himself using three names, the middle being Taylor, with a foreign accent. He asked how everything was. When I politely mentioned that my dish was not hot, he pushed back and insisted that medium rare meat is supposed to be that temperature. He misunderstood that I was referring to the overall temperature of the dish and not the internal doneness. The conversation was going nowhere; I told him he was going to irritate me and to please get his manager. The GM, Jim, arrived and repeated the same stance. He told me, “This isn’t a steakhouse; it’s not supposed to come out sizzling.” This comment was unnecessary and insulting. Bentley’s sells steaks; the expectation is that food arrives hot. He eventually reheated the dish; however he offered no apology, no empathy, and no gesture of goodwill even though this was clearly noted as a birthday dinner on the reservation. The worst part, and the reason I am writing this review, happened as we were leaving. The restaurant was winding down and nearly empty. As we approached the host stand, the same staff member from earlier (the one who introduced himself using three names, with Taylor as the middle name) suddenly yelled from behind the bar, “Hey; you’re rude and need to learn some manners.” I assumed he must have been speaking to someone else; but when I said “Excuse me?” he repeated it louder with an obscenity and said, “You’re rude and need to learn some (said a word that I cant use on Google) manners.” He then began to approach me from behind the bar; the situation escalated quickly and multiple staff members had to physically step between us to prevent it from becoming a full confrontation. It was shocking; unprovoked; humiliating; and unacceptable. I am a business professional who manages multimillion-dollar relationships in Charlotte; I frequently host clients at fine dining establishments throughout the SouthPark area. I also worked in fine dining for several years throughout college many years ago; I fully understand appropriate service, hospitality, and expectations. What occurred at Bentley’s was unprofessional; hostile; dismissive; and unlike anything I have ever experienced in a dining setting. I will never return personally or professionally; and I will advise my colleagues to avoid bringing clients here. Bentley’s needs to evaluate its leadership and retrain its staff; no guest should ever experience what we did. If I could give zero, I would.
