This is a great go-to in the city!! We have been a few times and have never been disappointed! We loved sitting out on their patio! I learned that you can do a 1/2 potion of their salads which was great for me because we had dinner plans for later!! Smoothest Old Fashioned. In the past we have tried many other dishes including the Guacamole and other appetizers! Service is always excellent. Casual, not stuffy but the food is always high quality!

I love LuxBar! It’s one of my favorite places in the city for good food and drinks! I will say some items on the menu are better than others… so it is important what you get! Highly recommend: Saved by the Bell (may be my favorite cocktail in the city… I hope it becomes permanent!). Apple BBQ Fried Chicken (INCREDIBLE albeit messy!). Mac and cheese. Avoid: “baby” back Ribs (while they look great… there is no meat on them! NONE! And what meat there is sticks to the bone. Also these are regular ribs not small tender baby back ones). Sliders (too basic for the price).

Had dinner at Luxbar and had a great time! The atmosphere was amazing, really great vibes and lively restaurant to be in. The food was delicious: we had the tuna tacos, sweet chili fried calamari, and the kale and avocado salad (my personal favorite were the tacos). What blew us away was the dessert: the snickers pie was above and beyond expectations! It really was top-notch. Highly recommend Luxbar in Chicago!

A super lively spot with a variety of fantastic drinks and food. I’d highly recommend reservations! Although busy, the space itself is really quite large, even extending upstairs onto another floor. The food was amazing—upscale comfort food. It was impressive from stepping into the door to leaving. Our waiter was kind and attentive (and also helpful when we couldn’t make a good decision!). And the separate Build Your Own Manhattan menu was actually very fun and had a variety of options to let you create your perfect cocktail.

Wonderful time I had here. Good options for every time of the day. Great food to open up the appetite accompanied by some amazing cocktails. Dishes are delicious and dessert adds that closing extra to your dinning.

This place is definitely worth the hype. Went on a Saturday night, and at first I was worried because of how crowded it was and how loud it was. My worries were unfounded - the service was speedy and accurate, the entrees had a very reasonable portion size, and all the food was delicious. While it was a little difficult to hear conversation at my immediate table, the high energy and kindness of the wait staff was enough to make this a very pleasurable dining experience.

The food was really good & we had such a good experience. The chili was spicy but I love spicy. Everything was fresh. Kathleen was our server and she was amazing we would come here again.

It may look like the food and drinks are expensive, but they're actually affordable. We enjoyed our food so much we visited twice. The staff was courteous, well dressed and worked as a team. That was our first time noticing waiters garnish the bartenders drinks. We give Brett (the bartender) two thumbs up for being able to deal with such intense pressure. He not only made our drinks and took our orders, but he also remembered us on our second visit. That made my wife and I feel welcomed. The wings were so good, I ate them before I could take the picture. Lol We'd recommend LuxBar any day.

We went to LUXBAR for a rehearsal dinner. The service was fantastic. Every few minutes a server was offering an appetizer and drinks. They were very attentive and the food was delicious. For the sit down part, the steak and cauliflower steak were delicious. We were given 2 deserts! Granted, this is based on the wedding party's decisions on food/drink choices, but the execution was great! We were on the second floor which has beautiful windows and views.

We love this place! This food is always outstanding!! Great service and the Christmas decorations are gorgeous!

Luxbar absolutely nailed it! I stopped in for a casual bite and ended up having one of the best slider experiences ever. The mini burgers were juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked—with soft buns and just the right amount of toppings. Simple, classic, and done so well. The vibe at Luxbar is relaxed but polished, and the service was friendly and fast. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or settling in for a longer meal, this place hits the mark.

Excellent experience as always. The food never disappoints and is consistently great. Special shoutout to Cam, our server tonight, super attentive, friendly, and professional. The service was outstanding and really elevated the whole experience. Definitely a place we always enjoy coming back to. Highly recommended!

I’ve been going to Lux Bar for 20 years—since it first opened—and it’s always been our go-to place. I love the food; it’s consistently fresh, flavorful, and made with excellent quality meats, fish, and salads. I especially enjoy the breakfast egg dishes! The Manager, Ryan, is outstanding in how he treats customers. He takes real pride in welcoming guests and truly getting to know them. Best, Cindi Elstien

Had such a great time at Luxbar this past weekend celebrating my birthday! We had a large group and the service was amazing and our server Emma was so attentive and friendly! The food and drinks were also great!!! You can never go wrong with Luxbar!

Best steak frites and manhattans in Chicago. Gracious servers. Can be noisy, but that’s just the vibe. Great place!

I have been to LuxBar a number of times. Ryan always remembers me and goes out of his way to make my visit special. The outdoor seating is amazing. Two of my favorite dishes are the turkey burger, and the hummus and vegetable platter.

We had an amazing celebratory dinner. The atmosphere was perfect, food and drinks were amazing, and it was all brought together so well by our fabulous server Chase. He was so attentive and kind, and gave wonderful recommendations. All servers should take a page out of his book!

Lux Bar never fails. The food is always excellent, the service impeccable. Even though it was crowded this evening, they didn't miss a beat. The Steak Frites is one of the best deals in the City the Sickers (Ice Cream) Pie serves 4 easily. Unqualifiedly recommended!

There is hidden places to explore Chicago. I was taken by surprise by my best friends. I mean best friends. Never have I seen, tasted, great atmosphere in one place. The food is so original. By this I mean... It really tastes good to the last bite. So much food I tried. I dont remember the names. Just got to tell you. You must have an original root beer. Plus. The atmosphere is just right. Not to loud and not to soft. We all stayed here for 2 hours. The dessert is ice cream!! O M G... is soo good. Make sure to come hungry. Because everything is so delicious and good. I recommend.

Stopped by Lux Bar with some friends. We had a great lunch! The truffle fries were yummy. Our servers were attentive. The tuna tacos are delicious (and I'm not one to eat raw fish). Very fresh. The crab cake is fine (needs more seasoning/less filler). My friend loved her wagyu sliders. We sat outside (definitely recommend while the weather is nice), and overall, it was a vibe! We'd come back for lunch.

My company and I (coming into town from a long way away) entertained a group of about 20 people recently on a Saturday night at LuxBar. It was important for us to make a good impression on these folks (after all, that's the point of the exercise). Things could not have been smoother nor more well-handled. The food was fabulous! What associated with Gibson's isn't good, right? The service was just splendid and with the right touch of personality. The bar venue upstairs was the perfect location and the perfect size for such a dinner. Big shoutouts to Nicole and to Ryan who made it all so easy for us to plan and execute. They made us look GOOD! Those folks know how to take care of you, and they can accommodate the circumstances of your entertainment. Bravo LuxBar! We'll be back.

This place was a great local find that we really enjoyed on a buzzy Sunday night. The bartender was brilliant and friendly. Their Build-Your-Own Manhattan menu is phenomenal! Never seen anything like it. I was a bit disappointed with the Club sandwich: bread not toasted and no bacon and a fairly measly serving of fries. But the cocktails and atmosphere were amazing!

We hosted our Sunday brunch after our wedding at LuxBar! They did a fabulous job. The food was delicious! and our guests were ready to eat. The staff was so kind and very attentive to our needs. Shout out to Nicole!

We live in the neighborhood and Luxbar is our go to favorite place. We bring every guest here and they love it! The management is superb. Service is sensational. Food fantastic. Best old fashion, burger, fries, kale salad & brunch. The ambiance is cozy in the back, fun at the bar & gorgeous outside. Happy 20 year anniversary!

We went to the LuxBar for restaurant week 2026 lunch. It was a wonderful lunch with good food, courteous and attentive staff, and pleasant atmosphere. As an added bonus, the LuxBar had several big screen TVs to watch the opening ceremony of the winter Olympics.

We had a brunch here and the food was delicious! The customer service was great—our waiter was friendly and attentive. However, the wait for the food was quite long. One person in our group ordered the onion soup and finished it well before the rest of our meals arrived. The virgin mojito was just okay. Overall, a good experience thanks to the tasty food and great service, but the long wait time was a downside.

I had the smoked maple wings ..tomato Basil Soup ..Cobb Salad ..Expresso Martini .. Everything was good .. the soup was light but flavorful.. the wings were lightly crispy with a slight maple sweetness .. the salad was crisp with a variety of ingredients and a large portion ..but the hit was the Expresso Martini which was chilled and had a slight coco bean flavor ... OQ

High end American food, but mostly a bar for sure. The food menu was minimal which helps for indecisive people like me, but seems like their drink menu was much bigger. I was there to eat with friends so my experience was just alright. I had the Classic Burger with cheese, cooked medium. They cooked it just as I asked, and it was pretty good. My two complaints would be that the burger was too tall for me to fit in my mouth, making my experience really messy. But that could be just me. And I felt that the burger patty itself was not very seasoned. Without physically adding ketchup to the burger, it tasted pretty bland and just meaty. Restaurant itself was very nice looking place, I probably would not come to eat here again unless I was coming back to try some of their drinks with my friends.

Stopped for lunch, was hoping it might be a bit "less loud" than the last time we visited...not the case. The food and service is the saving grace; prompt and attentive server who was able to answer all of my questions (Celiac) and the food was amazing. So, as long as you aren't going on a first date, or wanting to relax or have a serious conversation - Luxbar is a great choice.

Wanted to try this restaurant with my fiance, so went inside. I believe we got the nicest spot, right in front of the fireplace. Very cozy and lovely. I love Guacamole so I got happy when I noticed they have handmade Guacamole. However their Guacamole didn’t have any seasoning like sour tatse (lemon/lime), salt, pepper that usually make it taste better. We love their tomato soup. I ordered Buffalo Chipotle Salad, and it was too salty so I asked for exchange and this time buffalo sauce on the side, and less blue cheese. It was better but not my favorite salad. Their steak was great and the burger was good too, but could be better. This is what I call it a good customer service; After reviewing my feedback on google, one or two of the managers, Elizabeth & Ryan reached out and offered me their gift card to give them another try, and I truly appreciate this kind of behavior, so I added another star for my review and tried this place for another time.

I love coming to Luxbar in gold coast. The neighborhood in the summer is lively with lots to do and see around it. The food is consistent, I think it is great value for what you are paying for. Some of my favorites are the burger or the steak frites, skip the mac and cheese at is is underwhelming. This is a spot I consistently take friends to as it is affordable and always a decent meal.

Was really looking forward to like this place as it was highly recommended by my friend who lives a stone throw away. Came here on a Saturday with my two teens without reservations. We were seated immediately but our server didn't come by at least 15 mins later. The other tables that were seated after us got their water and ordered. Just when we were about to walk out the server swung by and took our orders. Food came out quickly. Menu was reasonably priced at a decent size portion. Taste wise, average. Ambiance; good. Go somewhere else if you want better service.

When people say size doesn’t matter - I tend to agree, but not in this case!! I usually come here for the atmosphere and their schnitzel, it’s been my all time favorite!! However, can’t help but notice the size of the dish keeps getting smaller and smaller. Today it was so small I am still hungry. Smaller is not better!! Not happy at all!!

I'm very surprised this place has good reviews, the mac&cheese tasted like straight cream topped with bagged cheese (literally how?) the burger was unseasoned the bun was thin and overdone with sooo much ketchup.. The fries were stringy and soggy, and they have the worst cookie skillet in chicago. Like, the worst. It was the size of a baseball and extremely overdone, with underworked dough. The honey mustard is literally honey with mustard powder and the bbq sauce tastes shaken with water. All our food came out cold yet the plates were hot (again... how?) The dining experience was normal (not awesome) but the food was truly so awful. Chicken was the only thing on the menu that was decent.

Food was a 5 calamari didn’t taste done at all waited almost a hour and EVERY SINGLE thing on my plate was cold like let’s be fr who want cold fries roasted brussels sprouts and steak fritters was good thewaiter claim she didn’t want me to leave unhappy on my birthday so she claimed to take the 19.50 off but still found away to add $10 to my bill smh Happy Birthday to me so can’t wait to head bk to Detroit

We were seated outside and had ordered drinks and appetizers already when it started to rain. We were moved slightly over to be under the awning to finish our experience which was completely fine. However, our waiter at the time (black curly haired shorter gentleman) comes up to our table and goes “so…. Can I close you guys out now or?” Before we even received our appetizers or put in our courses. We were very confused and asked him, “oh, do you mean so we can move inside? Because then yes that’s fine” and he goes “oh yeah they’ll definitely move you guys inside” even though we were perfectly fine continuing to sit outside. So then he checks us out which was very strange and we go to the host stand, and they say “we’re fully booked for the night”. I explain that we already have a table and we’re solely told to check out so our waiter could “go home” for the night and we would be moved inside. The original waiter then comes up to us and says “yeah I actually don’t have much pull with the host stand”. So he completely tricked us into checking out so he could leave his shift early, while we were then stuck without a table. I’ve NEVER had an experience like this at any restaurant. So unprofessional and rude and we are frequent customers. Not anymore. Please train your waitstaff not to dupe costumers so they can leave early.

We had a reservation and were kept waiting for over 40 minutes. We were then seated on the second floor in what felt like an improvised room. The meat was served without sauce, and the ribs arrived cold. We were very disappointed, especially since we are regular customers and usually enjoy coming here.
