In February 2021, I camped there. The owners, Mr. Fernando and Mrs. Lety, were very friendly. The food was delicious with fresh produce. I was very pampered. The stories about the jaguar and the places they know within the jungle are fantastic. I already want to return to visit them.

This is a small town restaurant that is inside the Calakmul archeological zone. At the gate they tell you make sure to bring water and food but you can get food here after or before your visit. The women that owns the property might be washing clothes or doing chores so it has a very small village feel to it. I had the Chaya rolls with fresh hand pressed tortillas. It’s the only property you’ll see inside the Calakmul Reserve and it’s about 15 kilometers passed the gate. Stop by and support the locals.

Authentic Mayan cuisine, I highly recommend it, especially if you leave the Calakmun archaeological zone hungry. Their dishes are varied and they also sell honey with a rich wildflower flavor.

Pros: At this small restaurant located in the middle of the reserve, you can find a variety of foods, including appetizers, beans, lamb barbacoa, tamales, and more. Everything is freshly prepared, so the flavor is top-notch. If you need to camp, they offer this service at a campsite located less than 1 km away—the perfect combination.

I've rarely had to deal with people as rude as Mrs. Leticia. Be careful when you ask her anything about the camp, because she responds in the worst possible way, saying she doesn't see it, and if you ask her who can help you with those questions, she gets angry and reluctantly tells you it's her son or her husband. To avoid dealing with her again, I asked the waiter about breakfast, and when Mrs. Leticia heard me, she scolded me—yes, she scolded me—saying that I should only discuss the food with her. Zero customer service. The pinchadas tasted like nothing, the eggs with chaya and the beans were delicious, but the mistreatment isn't worth it.

We made a reservation at the campsite, we knew it would be somewhat rustic, but we thought it was worth it because it included breakfast. We paid around 850 pesos. We spoke with the lady at the restaurant because we would be going to Calakmul early the next day. She suggested we be at the restaurant at 11 am to have our breakfasts already paid for. We left the campsite at 5 am because they open the gate inside the reserve at 5:30 and the road takes an hour to travel by vehicle. By agreement, we didn't go all the way around Calakmul to return to the restaurant at 11 am. We agreed to arrive on time. To our surprise, there was no one at the campsite or the restaurant. I called the number on the reservation and emailed to find out if anyone would come to serve us. No one answered my email or phone. At 12:15 we had to leave for another destination. The woman named Leticia arrived with her son and said, "Do you still want your breakfast?" I apologize, we missed the opportunity to see the entire tour due to meeting the agreed-upon schedule and for a paid service. We were denied service and mistreated. I'll point to the time of my last photo taken at the archaeological site as an indication.

Since we were staying at the campsite right next door, we had dinner there. We ordered beef tacos and a ribeye steak. It was tasteless, completely lacking in flavor, with no sauce or vegetables. It was the worst meal I've ever had! The prices are the same as at any other Mexican restaurant, but the quality is lower. Absolutely avoid it! If I could have given zero stars, I would have. If you're staying at the campsite, you can bring a cold meal and eat it in the communal dining area.

Seduced by the welcome and the authentic and natural setting of this small restaurant, we had lunch there with very average quesadillas and took tacos and other specialties to go. The appearance and taste were truly repulsive. We tried them but we both felt sick afterward. The freshness of the ingredients must no longer meet the minimum hygiene criteria....
