Our group of 6 had the best time at Torchio! The service was top notch, we were never searching for someone to help us, everything we needed was ready to go. We started with a bottle of wine and cocktails, shared a couple of apps, and then each ordered our own pasta dish. Everything was so delicious, comforting, and unique. We finished up with dessert and espresso martinis. Overall a great time!
If I could give Torchio more than 5 stars, I WOULD!!!!!!! This restaurant was an amazing experience in every way. The atmosphere was cozy but also personal. The great ambience is curated by the attentive servers… so kind and helpful. The espresso martinis here are definitely the best I’ve ever had. We shared the braised short rib and pappardelle and it was, again, one of the best plates I’ve had. Not too heavy, the sauce was perfectly balanced and that hint of red wine… I LOVE THIS PLACE. 10/10 recommend.
I celebrated my birthday solo at the bar, and I’m so glad I did! The staff were warm, friendly, and made me feel truly welcome. The truffle and fried burrata with freshly made fettuccine was absolutely to die for, and the home made lemon olive oil cake was the perfect finishing touch. I even had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Bill, whose hospitality made the experience even more special. I left Torchio with a full heart and a happy stomach. Definitely one of the highlights of my trip!
Hands down our favorite local Italian restaurant. The food is AMAZING! I especially love seafood pasta and meatballs. You get a great serving size for the price and the quality of food is high. We love going inside the restaurant for date nights, it’s on the smaller side and a little casual, but this has become our favorite restaurant to order from for date night at home. They do a great job for carry out! The owners put a lot of care into the service and food quality. It feels like hug each time.
My experience at Torchio was unforgettable. Bebe my waitress was attentive and well mannered as well as all the staff was. The food never missed, I was super impressed by all the dishes I was served. The chef who created these dishes is well mastered and knows how turn food into an experience. I have a high standard when it comes to food such as freshness, quality of ingredients and taste and the team at Torchio exceeded my expectation. I will definitely be back and highly recommend!
Amazing italian 10/10. We had 3 different pasta dishes: Orrechiette, capellini, Sunday Meat sauce. All were so good and well-balanced can’t go wrong with any depending on your preference. Arugula salad was a bit heavy on the lemon but still a good simple salad. Ambience was cozy good for groups/dates! Def recommend!
This restaurant is amazing! Met the owner, very nice man and had the best server we've ever had. Her name is Sophia. So knowledgeable, kind funny and attentive. We had the Arancini and fried artichoke heart for an appetizer. I had the Bechemal Bolognese Lasagna and my husband had the Braised Short Rib and Pappardelle. Absolutely amazing food and atmosphere! It's a must try!
Fabulous restaurant that captures ALL the important points of dining out. The decor and atmosphere are perfect with inviting seats at the bar or table in a cozy setting. The wait staff are friendly and there to please. The tables and dishes are cleaned during your dinner and glasses are always full. I loved the Calabrian chili red sauce so much that I asked for a container to go and the waiter made it happen! I was so happy! The food is amazing in a word. We had the Arancini, Caesar salad, pasta with scallops and a pasta with braised short ribs. Each dish was delicious and perfectly prepared and plated. Don not sleep on Torchio- just run to get there. I’ll be back the next time I’m in Chicago.
Dinner at Torchio was absolutely magical from start to finish. The food was outstanding — every bite was crafted with care and flavor. The bartenders were phenomenal, mixing creative drinks with such skill and personality that it added to the magic of the evening. And of course, the owner, Bill, was a stella individual. His genuine hospitality and presence make you feel like family the moment you walk in. Everyone on the team made us feel so welcome and created an atmosphere that turned our date night into something truly memorable. Torchio continues to set the bar for what a perfect dining experience should be.
Perfect experience! Amy greeted us and made us feel very welcome. Olivia was honestly the best server I’ve come across in a long time. Extremely helpful with suggestions/recommendations. So friendly while also giving us time alone. Hard to do that perfectly but she did. Started with cocktails. I had a very nice Boulevardier. Delighted with the Eggplant Caprese, Braised Short Rib & Pappardelle, Capellini & Mussels Oreganato, Lemon Olive Oil Cake & Vanilla Gelato. The owner Billy spent some time with us and really topped off a wonderful dinner. I wish we had gone directly from the airport when we landed. Then we could have gone twice during our stay.
Torchio Pasta Bar was an amazing experience from start to finish. The Midnight Pasta was beautifully simple yet bursting with flavor. The wine pairing was spot-on, perfectly elevating the meal without overpowering it. Cozy atmosphere, attentive service, and a true appreciation for authentic Italian dining. Can’t wait to come back!
The 5 stars isn't enough. The food is absolutely ridiculous, it's so delicious and every bite gets better and better. The service, the food, the wine, everything. It's the best meal I've ever had. We got the meatballs, the pizza pasta, the truffle pasta, the tiramisu, and the lemon olive oil cake and again - never had food like this. Don't miss out
One, if not, the best restaurant I’ve ever experienced! The food was exceptional, you can tell every single menu item was perfectly crafted. What really stood out to me at Torchio, was the love and pride all of the staff showed throughout our evening! Bibi was incredible and made our dining experience wonderful. Billy, the owner, was very humble and welcoming. He even bought us a round of Guinness at Brehon Pub across the street to show us his gratitude! Will definitely come visit every time I’m back in the city. Thanks for showing us Texans an authentic Chicago evening!
The best pasta in Chicago. I love white sauce and seafood. The service here is excellent, the atmosphere is nice, and everything is clean. The pasta dishes cost around $30–$40 each, but the portions are very large.I’ve never been able to finish a whole plate. I recommend trying the pasta, meatballs, and Caesar salad
This is an incredible restaurant. Went twice and was very happy both times. Top quality good food, excellent service (my water was never empty for more than 30 seconds), friendly staff, and a great atmosphere. Everything we had here was tasty but I'd especially recommend the Tomato Tartare appetizer, the Sunday Meat Sauce Pasta and the Pizza Pasta. Best served for small groups or a date. Although I had fun as a solo diner.
This pasta bar is a hidden gem! First off, everything is homemade and cooked perfectly! Next, the owner started this in his retirement (went to Italy to learn technique, built the entire inside of the restaurant by hand, everything is immaculate). His wife does the desserts. The staff is so kind and attentive. Would not be surprised to see this restaurant get a Michelin Star in the near future. ✴️ Can’t wait to visit again the next time I’m in Chicago.
The best kept secret in Chicago! This restaurant is like the bar from “Cheers” — filled with locals and everyone knows each other. The atmosphere is so inviting, it genuinely feels like home — something that you can taste in the food. The arancini was perfectly fried with expertly cooked rice and I loved that the sauce was actually spicy. The Sunday Sauce pasta was lovely, rich and creamy. The Braised Short Rib was perfect. Sticky, beefy, slightly sweet chunks of pulled short rib laid over freshly made pasta that tasted like butternut squash. The lemon olive oil cake was the perfect acidic note to end the decadent meal on while the tiramisu was a great play on the traditional recipe that used cold brew to give it a stronger espresso taste. Torchio Pasta Bar is a one of a kind restaurant and one I cannot wait to revisit.
We joined for dinner on Saturday night. The restaurant was lively with great energy. We were seated right away and were greeted quickly by our server. The drinks and food were very good. Service was great, clearing plates and resetting the table between courses. We were sharing the server brought sharing plates without needing to be asked. The truffle baratta was very nice with great flavor and a nice sized portion. Both the pastas we had were also great. Both the sauces were perfect and the pasta was cooked perfectly.
Awesome everything - food, service, atmosphere. Everything tasted homemade and delicious. Server was outstanding - personable and knowledgeable. All the staff was great, we were seated promptly and my water was never empty for more than 20 seconds. The owner and bartenders were all happy and hustling around. Highly recommend! Tomato tartare is a must have.
How can anybody rate this place lower than 5 stars? Happened to be close to my hotel so I walked over. Made room at the bar for me. Staff was friendly from the get go. The drinks were absolutely amazing along with the food. The people I met that were from the neighborhood as well as the staff made this an unforgettable experience. I’ll be recommending this place to all my TX friends when they come and do business in Chicago. Well done team.
Great pasta place! Especially loved the pappardelle !!!!! All I can say is torchio never disappoint! They sure have the best housemade pasta in town! We tried mutiple different types. Our favorites are seafood fra diavolo, rigatoni chicken pesto creame, pappardelle ragu, and red sauce vegetarian pappardelle ! We love this pasta place! It is our fav place to stop by for dinner
Torchio was disappointingly mediocre - it’s not worth your money. We got three pastas (midnight pasta, rigatoni alla vodka, orecchiette) and all three had overcooked & mushy pasta with bland, underseasoned, slightly greasy sauces. The bread here feels like the cheap fare you’d get at an elementary school, both for the complementary basket and for the crostini that came with the tomato tartare What really added insult to injury was the price - the plates are absurdly expensive for the low quality ($27 for possibly the worst vodka pasta I’ve ever had). The portions are decently big, but that doesn’t feel like a win when the food is such a letdown
Great Concept, but the Details Need More "Dough" I had high expectations coming into Torchio, especially given its reputation for serving authentic, handmade pasta right on-site. The atmosphere is lovely and sets the stage for a premium dining experience, but unfortunately, the execution didn’t quite live up to the price point for me. The biggest letdown was the bread. When you’re at a high-end Italian restaurant that prides itself on "freshly made" pasta, serving what feels like standard, store-quality bread is a missed opportunity. To truly capture that classic Italian essence, the bread should be baked in-house. Walking in and smelling fresh-baked loaves would elevate the entire experience and match the standard of the pasta they are hand-crafting. Speaking of the pasta, while it is clearly fresh, the value just isn't there. At this price range, you expect a dish that feels substantial and extraordinary, but it felt a bit overpriced for the portion and overall flavor profile. Torchio has all the ingredients to be a neighborhood gem, but until the bread is as fresh as the pasta and the value aligns with the bill, it’s hard to fully recommend it as a top-tier destination.
