Excellent experience at this Japanese hibachi restaurant. The portions are very generous and the food is absolutely delicious. The salmon was perfectly cooked, the fried rice was well seasoned, the vegetables were fresh and cooked just right, and the sushi was incredibly fresh. The service was outstanding — very attentive and friendly the entire time. The hibachi atmosphere also makes the experience fun and unique. We will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended! 🔥🍣
First time coming to eat at Taisho, and it was a fantastic experience. When you step inside, the atmosphere is fabulous, the waitress did a great job, the food was absolutely amazing. I'd recommend this place to anyone who is passing Cypress, Tx or who lives in Cypress but haven't tried this place yet. You'll be happy when enter and even happier when you leave with a big smile on your face. Thank you Taisho for the wonderful first experience.
We’ve been to this restaurant a few times now, and each visit has been consistently wonderful, never failing to impress. The food is always top-notch, from the tender, perfectly cooked chicken to the flavorful fried rice and the mouthwatering sushi. One standout item that I always look forward to is the yellowtail sashimi – it’s always incredibly fresh and bursting with flavor. The ginger dressing on the side salad is also one of the best I’ve ever tasted; it’s tangy, yet smooth, with just the right amount of spice. That being said, there was one small downside to this visit. While the food was amazing as always, the chef seemed a little rushed and didn’t put as much effort into the usual tricks and playful banter that make the experience feel more interactive and fun. I understand that the restaurant can get busy, but I do enjoy the entertainment factor of the meal. I come here not just for the delicious food, but also for the show. It’s always a bonus when the chef goes the extra mile to engage the adults as well as the kids. Hopefully, on our next visit, the chef will bring back a little more of that playful energy we’ve come to expect. Overall, though, it’s always a great experience. The atmosphere, food quality, and service are all fantastic, and I look forward to many more visits in the future.
It wasn't busy when we got there but I'm sure it gets crazy in there. Best sushi I've found on this side of Houston so far. The service was wonderful but the food, was far better then I had expected. I'll definitely be returning. The one thing that surprised me the most was that the ginger wasn't dyed It looked how ginger should look.
The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The restaurant was very clean and well lit. Our chef was very talented and engaged us the entire time. He had all of the customary tricks down. The beef sashimi was delicious with a little heat. Our fried rice was great as was all of our entrees. We will definitely be back.
Great service an delish food. I love the performance provided which is always fun. They also have regular tables if you don't want to do hibachi and pricing is very affordable
This is one of my favorite spots for Sushi, but I have to admit I haven't been here in a few years, probably since Covid.. I would still give the sushi top marks. We had the Hot Mama & the Marilyn, we also had the combination fried rice which taste good but was a little shy of protein. Now they have a Martini called the Lychee Martini OMG!!! LOVE. The scenery is beautiful if you can tolerate the heat and be seated outside. All in all I give them a solid 4 Stars because of the fried rice and the tables inside are starting to get a little on the worn side but other than that still a great spot for Sushi.
Service was great and our table was very clean. The room has a cozy, comfortable feel to it and the restaurant is perfectly placed as the entrance is right in front of the water. This is nice because either before you dine or right after, a nice waterside stroll is only a step away. The actual hibachi entertainment was subpar. Our chef did nothing special nor out of the ordinary. We got the onion on fire that turns into the "choo-choo" train and we got a rice ball toss to the mouth. Other than that, he prepared the food as normal but no other exciting feature for that Father's Day lunch. The cost seems pretty in line, and gratuity is not a huge surprise for a party of 6. I would say that it is worth a try if you've never had hibachi. But for anyone seasoned with this style of dining, there are other places that really put the wow factor into it. Our server was incredible though I didn't catch her name and the food was nicely seasoned and worth another visit. Just not with the hibachi.
They automatically charge 18% tip for party of 5+, so be careful that part, you may get tip-doubled. The food is okay but way toooo pricey. Ordered combination of steak and salmon, the medium steak got well done and only few bite size pieces for an order, kind of disappointed for that. The full hibachi order 85% is rice.
Went here after debating for two years with my husband because of the reviews - it was just okay. I think they overprice menu items because of the location, but the interior is very tired and needs to be refreshed. The logo/monument sign at the top of the building wasn’t lit, so we almost didn’t go in because we thought they were closed. The service was lacking, but because they were understaffed. For a Friday night the place was very empty but they still only had a couple of servers, so it was difficult to get someone to come take our orders. We spent about $250 on some sushi and a couple of drinks - we could pay that amount for a much finer sushi restaurant in River Oaks. Honestly, I don’t think we’ll be back.
The restaurant is a bit hidden in the shopping center so you have to really look for it. The interior is clean and but has a dull theme. The dishes are made in front of you and are pricey. The food portions are small. I was very disappointed in the size of my salmon, it was as thin as a fork, see pic below. The meal comes with soup and salad but the soup is just a bland broth. The salad was a small portion of just iceberg lettuce with some dressing. The cooks try to make it a fun time but the food unfortunately just disappoints. This is one of those places you come once to try it but then never return.
Came here for my sons birthday & the chef for habachi seems like he didn’t do much tricks as I expected but overall still a great experience for my kids. The food tasted great except for the steak which didn’t have much flavor and was overcooked. I would avoid ordering that. The whole time our kind waiter checked on us multiple times refilling our drinks making sure we were comfortable.
Nice location, good service. Food is depending what you ordered. The bento box with Filet was good, meat was tender and fried rice was nicely cooked. However, the sashimis 5 combination platter was not fresh, the cut was too thick almost, 1 inch thick. Eating raw foods with thick cut was not appetite.
7/30/21 Was my first visit to Taisho. It was a Friday night and it was packed!! We had reservations for 8pm and we didn't get seated for over 30 minutes. Then it took another 30 minutes before the Hibachi cook was able to get to our table. The food was great and tasted perfectly. The hostess Sophia was amazing coming over and checking on us and making sure we were happy even with the long wait. All in all it was a good evening out and the experience was ok. Will have to make reservations for an earlier time for the next visit!
Had the large order of Steak Fried Rice. Very small portion of steak. Meat was cooked properly but not seasoned. Rice was full of oil. The news was on the tv at the bar. The music was some teen girl pop crap and too loud to tune out. I’m not surprised it was empty during dinner hours. Sub par and overpriced
Can’t beat it for the price alone. My friend and I each had hibachi, then 2 glasses of wine and 3 beers and the total was right under $100! THAT being said, the environment and ambiance was…not great. Felt cheap, crowded, and dingy. 9 packed hibachi tables in one closed off room makes for a very warm environment, also. Quality of the food was mid. Expected more for the Towne Lake location, honestly…but over all was fine enough.
Went and ordered three adult steak dinners. Steak didn’t look that great when they put it on the grill but figured we’d give it a chance. Once I received my steak it instantly had a foul taste (even my 6yo voiced how bad it tasted) it was clearly OLD meat, it may not have been stored properly. Manager was made aware and they cooked us steak in the back. Well the portions (pictured below) we received weren’t near an adult portion. I wouldn’t recommend this place and that’s just one of the many reasons why. Spoke with the manager after, she offered a credit for next time, I respectfully declined. There definitely won’t be a next time. Taking my business to Shoguns. I eat hibachi at least 3x monthly and this was by far the most awful experience.
