A great menu, delicious food, and nice people. This is a great stop in Danville
The place has wonderful food amazing staff outstanding cook's the server's have got it down they remember orders even when crazy busy you should give it a try it will not disappoint
This is the definition of that homely diner vibe. You feel like you walked into someone's dining room to eat and watch the cars outside. One of the best breakfast spots I have been too that wasn't in the SOUTH.
I was so excited to see they were open this morning. I called a few times before arriving but the line was busy each time. We arrived and was initially told that we needed to put our name on a list, but shortly offered a table. The waitress suggested the berry mimosa. Really good! I enjoyed seeing the bubbles rising after she brought it to the table. We ordered the bacon, spinach and avocado scramble without avocado and the gold special with sausage. It wasnt the italian sausage that I wanted but the waitress acknowledged it and corrected it. Both meals were seasoned perfectly. The eggs were light and the pancakes were fluffy. Leftovers were taken home!Looking forward to returning and trying something else on the menu.
We try to go everySunday. Athens staff is attentive, the service is superb.Their pancakes are heavenly and they have a huge variety of omelets. Very cozy old fashion Coffee Shop. Packed on weekends by a crowd that loves a big breakfast Menu😍
This place had an amazing Breakfast! The Omelets, Country Fried Steak, Hashbrowns & Pancakes were Wonderful! Service was fast & friendly! We will definitely be back!
I love this place. Great food. Best pancakes I've ever had. Christina is amazing, very sweet. I can see why it's so popular here. Highly recommend.
Very popular breakfast in downtown Danville. They have old fashioned comfort breakfast food. The portions are huge so be prepared for that. also be aware that there are always dogs here, so if you like them come here if you don't, Danville is not the best place for you
VM has been a favorite breakfast spot, not only because of its extensive menu, but mostly because of its staff. The staff appears like a well-oiled integral part of its charm.
Always great food. Might be too small to recommend for more than 4 people. I love the biscuits and gravy! A great reward for the 13,000 steps to get there!
Great spot to come with your friends and family early morning to have a great meal. Wonderful service and great downtown atmosphere!
This place is a Danville institution. Best breakfast in downtown Danville. Every time I go, I make sure to get a 50-50 shake! It's like a creamscicle we got as kids! Not on the menu, but they'll make one. And where else can you still get the shake with half still in the stainless steel container for after dinner? Take your kid's back in time and tell em how great it used to be....
Recently started having breakfast at Valley Medlyn's in Danville. Family owned and operated serving excellent food with a cozy atmosphere. Our new favorite breakfast restaurant!!
Best breakfast area ever
Been going here for decades, always good food. A fun local diner 😁
Hands down, The Best breakfast in the valley! THE CINNAMON ROLLS ARE AMAZING!! French toast, omelettes, salads OH MY! The friendliest servers !!
Seriously one of the best breakfast places in the area. Great food, great service, great value. Very small place though. Expect a wait during peak times.
I ordered a Spinach omelet and added thick sliced bacon, potatoes and toast. The breakfast was great. Small place and gets crowded quickly.
Great local diner with good food, friendly wait staff, and a welcoming environment. Very kid friendly. One of my favorite spots in Danville!
Our favorite breakfast place. Old Fashioned with a down home feeling. And great service.
I was on an early morning bike ride and decided to stop and take bike photos. I decided may as well fuel up for my adventure. I ordered the banana and pecan pancake. Chile, let me tell you..😊"Best pancake, breakfast I had in my stay in San Ramon "! My plate arrived and was I surprised. The bananas and pecans and whip cream was artistically placed on my pancake. The eggs were fluffy and the sausage links had that crisp skin thing going on! "Oohhhh, I felt it right there"...😂 A True Masterpiece! It was cooked perfectly. Reminded of Mama's Saturday morning breakfasts! I sat outside and enjoyed the cyclists riding by and dog walkers. Do yourself a favor and visit Valley Medlyn's!
By far the best restaurant experience I have had in a long time! Our waitress was so amazing. Kristina knew exactly what we wanted and made sure my son (who is 5) and I were well taken care of. My son enjoyed a hot chocolate with lots of whip cream and rainbow sprinkles And I enjoyed the eggs Benedict. I brought my own gluten-free English muffins, and the restaurant was so kind to prepare my meal with them. It was so delicious! This restaurant also gave my son coloring crayons and a cute Halloween themed menu that he colored throughout the meal and they also gave him some brand new hot wheels that he absolutely loved. This restaurant is a 10 out of 10.
Really good food. Their hash browns are my dream; really crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Indoor and outdoor dining. They serve beer. My kind of place.
Welcoming and cozy place to eat at!
Chicken fried steak with country gravy mmmm

Valley Medlyns never disappoints the food is always excellent and the service the best, try the homemade cinnamon rolls always good to take home.
Great breakfast spot. Our waitress was awesome and the corned beef hash was really good. This place knows how to crisp up their hash browns to perfection.
Great location and service. Lots of good menu choices. 😋 I could eat there and hang out every morning. It feels like home but with someone else cooking. If you haven't tried it, get over there today. This review is by Rex Crandell, CPA, Attorney of Walnut Creek.
We just moved nearby and it's our second time visiting Vally Medlyn's. Friendly service, great atmosphere, and food never disappoints. I got the French toast both times and it was so nice and fluffy. This place is officially on our rotation.
Family owned and ran, everyone is extremely friendly and helpful. I've eaten there twice and each time was great food, left everything with their cinnamon rolls which are just amazing 👏 chorizo breakfast burrito was awesome, country fried steak was amazing
I went for breakfast and it was delicious. Everyone got different things but everyone agreed that the country potatoes were amazing. The latte is also HUGE. And the mimosas are pretty good sized as well. Definitely worth the money. It appears to get pretty busy on a Saturday morning so make sure to get there early. We just dropped in so I don’t know if they take reservations or not.
Stopped in today for lunch and they made our toddler feel so welcome and happy! She got a toy on her way in that she played with the whole time- and they also dropped off crayons and coloring paper. She made a mess of her smoothie (with whipped cream and sprinkles! -she thought it was ice cream) and they brought wet napkins for her too. The chicken salad sandwich, smoothie and chicken burger were all delicious! We loved the coffee cake too. Thanks for the kid friendly meal :)
Awesome food! To die for cinnamon rolls, awesome biscuits and gravy. Chicken fried steak, crispy hash browns... Everything is fresh made, Love the place!
Amazing food, super friendly staff, an old school family restaurant. THE BEST chicken fried steak I've had outside of Texas. My favorite breakfast spot in the area.
Excellent food, pancakes made to order, banana chocolate chips, juice was in a generous glass, EXCELLENT SERVICE AND EXCELLENT FOOD! OMG! My husband had one of the scrambled egg specials, bacon, hash browns. They even gave my son Hot 🔥 Wheels cars to play with. This place is awesome 😎 food and service. Thank you ❤️❤️😊

Very nice, old school, diner. I've been going for years. Food is good, priced reasonably and service is relatively quick.
Tradition and a good old fashioned breakfast or lunch spot! (Started in the thirties) Generous servings and good! If you live or work in this valley you should stop in at least once!
Good breakfast day service delicious French toast, perfect yay bacon as ordered. Busy but able to get table inside 1000am. Great service, would love to see her smile more but very through.
Small local diner. Family owned and operated. The menu is large. Omelettes and sandwiches are large. I like the California delight sandwich. They have a few outdoor tables. It gets crowded quickly.
Local breakfast and lunch - simple menu, good quality. During COVID extra outside tables. The Medlyns special is a great breakfast choice with scrambled eggs, sour cream and chives.
I had a scramble here and it was excellent. They also let me get fruit instead of toast. Waitress was attentive. I will definitely be back.
We went out for breakfast on Christmas Day and had an amazing time enjoying delicious food and family moments. The restaurant is a cozy and welcoming spot with a wide variety of breakfast choices to satisfy everyone. The kids especially loved their meals and drinks, which made the experience even more enjoyable. It’s a wonderful place to start the day with loved ones, and we’ll definitely be returning again soon. Highly recommended!
Small, cozy breakfast/lunch place. Vally Medlyn's has been around for years in downtown Danville. Good size tasty portions at reasonable prices. Family and dog friendly. Both indoor and outdoor seating. Chicken & Waffle is more like a fancy deep fried chicken finger(s) than a couple of pieces of chicken sprinkled with powdered sugar, which actually made the freshly deep fried chicken fingers taste even better. Waffle is light and airy. Bacon is thick sliced. Vally Medlyn's has high chairs and booster chairs. In the Unisex restroom, there is a diaper changing table. Crayons and kids menu (gender specific coloring sheets)are provided to keep your kiddos to keep them entertained 9/22/17 Update: Had breakfast outside and dog watched for entertainment. Vally Medlyn's is dog-friendly. They have a jar of giant size dog biscuits by their entrance and a water bowl. Enjoyed eating the pancake special - 4 good sized super fluffy, light pancakes, scrambled eggs, and thick crispy apple-smoked bacon and the chunky Meat Lovers Omelet.

We visited for brunch on Valentine’s Day, and I really appreciated how they handed out a bunch of Valentine’s goodies for the kids. It kept them completely occupied and happy, which honestly allowed me to eat in peace. That was such a thoughtful touch and made a big difference for parents. Unfortunately, right after we sat down, I noticed a small cockroach near our table. I didn’t want to make a scene or ruin anyone else’s Valentine’s Day, so I quietly took care of it and informed the staff. While I understand that these things can happen, it definitely affected my appetite. As for the food, it was okay. Just your typical breakfast and brunch fare, nothing particularly special or memorable. Overall, I appreciated the kid friendly effort, but the cleanliness issue overshadowed the experience for me.
This is the kind of neighborhood mom&pop breakfast place that I love. They had really great food with a lot of quality options. No corners were cut on the ingredients. I would definitely come here anytime I'm in town. The only reason for 4 stars is that I practically had to beg for a single coffee refill.

The place was extremely busy, which is not too bad. We had a walk over to the Starbucks and came back and waited to be seated. The wait was about 15-20 minutes, which was to be expected, and I did not mind. When seated, we knew the place would be overwhelmingly busy, but we were expecting that; despite all that, we got help from a particular waitress who was not very helpful at ALL. She took our drink order and handed it off to another waitress to fetch it for her, she forgot about our drinks, and as it was not necessarily the job of the other waitress, we got it 10 minutes later. A simple water and diet coke. We waited a while for our order to be taken, but noticed other families and couples pouring in about 30 minutes after our party was seated and being helped PROMPTLY by other staff members. Okay? So maybe busy, but our waitress in particular was either lazy or maybe we seemed too young or undeserving of proper waiting? Finally, we get our food, and we dig in. Mind you, the food was amazing for the most part, no one in the party complained of any of the food. I enjoyed it until I was completely full. When we wrapped up around 11:45-11:50, we sat patiently waiting for our check or to be acknowledged we were leaving. No one checked on us while we ate. Meanwhile, one of our cups was emptied, and we would have liked a refill. After we waited a full 10 minutes, one of us simply got too impatient and said, "We would like the check and a box to go please." As courteous as possible. The waitress says, "Okay, no problem." I patiently waited 15 minutes for a check that never arrived. I simply grew impatient after sitting 25-30 minutes total after finishing eating and simply walked up to the register to ask for a check. The man couldn't find it and basically said the waitress had miswrote our table number or something of the sort. Meanwhile, she never even handed it to us. Simply let others take care of it for her while also not caring about where it had gone. The man at the register eventually rectified the situation, and I was able to pay, box our food, and leave. Despite all this, I felt obligated to leave a tip simply because the cooks did a good job and truly believe this waitress should be fired or not allowed my personal tip somehow but the chefs should get the tip instead. I normally do not write negative reviews, especially when it's about one person in particular, but it was so infuritating that I do not plan to return ever, especially if she still works at this establishment. WORST customer service/ waitress experience I've ever experienced in my entire life. I do not think I am exaggerating. Mind you also, we were seated in the restaurant at about 10:55am and had walked out at 12:30pm simply for how long we were waiting for this one waitress in particular.

I've tried this diner several times and being a local, I'm always hoping the experience gets better. I had the gold special. Pancakes "ok", sausage good but eggs uneatable. My dad had French toast that he liked. Service poor and unfriendly. After serving the food, they did not come back even once to refill water and coffee or to check how the food was. With so many good breakfast choices in the area, this place just doesn't warrant another visit.
Pro: Portion size was nice for the price Even: Food Taste was ok, nothing great but not bad Con: I don't know what kind of juice they use but whatever it is they cut it in half with water. The orange juice at a Hampton Inn is better than what they have. The lemonade was somehow even worse than that. This is the reason for the score. Whatever they served barely even had flavor, if I couldn't see the color I would have said it was lukewarm water with orange essence, not that that's terrible if that's what you order but don't call it orange juice. Same thing for the "lemonade" except it didn't even look like lemonade.
The breakfast omelette was watery and with not taste. Coffee was ok.
I don’t review to often but went in to this spot today for a meal and it was pretty terrible. Wings were ordered any they were not able to give me any wing sauce. They came out like warm. I also ordered a hamburger club and was ultra loaded with mayonnaise I almost chucked up. Worst was the French Fries that came out soggy and very oily. Super disappointed for the price I paid.
