Having eaten here often, recently, since William’s departure, things have gone , for want of a better word, wrong. 2nights a week WHAT??? Dreadful music, atmosphere gone. Was not looking forward to tonight’s visit (first in 5 weeks). But hold on……it was almost like mcreadys of old, thank goodness. Superb music, wonderful staff and the food was outstanding. There’s hope yet.

Expecting the restaurant to be not to be very full being a Monday lunchtime but just the opposite. It was wonderfully full of lovely guests all enjoying a happy experience. The food was superb! Our waiter Matt was incredible! He was worked off his feet and yet he managed to treat every single guest as though they were the only one! His efficiency, his manners and attitude was the best I have ever come across. Thank you and praise to Matt.

Absolutely superb restaurant! We have eaten in a lot of top London restaurants and the food here surpassed many in London. The smoked haddock soufflé was simply divine! The ambience, decor, character of the building, friendly and attentive staff made it a very memorable evening. We will definitely be returning when we’re next in Sherborne.

Wow what a place. The best restaurant I've been to in a long time. 5/5 on Food Service & Atmosphere. Tastefully decorated, the old building blends with new effortlessly. The exposed glue-lam conference suite roof beams, an architectural masterpiece.

We had a lovely meal for my dad’s birthday last night. The food was excellent and the restaurant is a great edition to Sherborne’s various places to eat. The service from everyone was fabulous. My mum is disabled and finds walking difficult. Every effort was made to make sure she was comfortable, sat in a suitable seat for her disability, with even some support to walk to the restrooms. Thank you so much to everyone working that evening. It made my mum and my dad’s evening very enjoyable and special.

Had a wonderful meal at Macreadys this evening. I ordered the vegetarian option and it was absolutely delicious. The service was outstanding……friendly, very knowledgeable, respectful and caring. A really lovely experience.

Stunning bistro! Food was first class, very modern fine dinng. I had the Portland crab linguine, it was delicious! The sweets are fabulous too. I would highly recommend a visit.

One of the best events our family has ever been to. There was 26 of our family all getting together for our Mum's surprise 80th birthday. The food was amazing and the service, that was run by Jess, could have been anymore professional. From start to finish couldn't have been any better. Thanks

Genuinely great food in a beautiful stylish bistro environment. All located in a wonderful building. Service was perfect. Pricing was very reasonable for the quality of food served. You must dine here!

Unfortunately we had our night ruined by the male manager. Blamed the kitchen staff when it wasn't their fault, then hid for the rest of the evening. Certainly won't eat there again when he is working. Food was beautiful when we got the correct order. Rest of staff are amazing, just one person let's the whole team down

Apologies, we had mixed reviews within our table. Some found the food too pricey. In fact, we were 4 and the bill came to over 200pds (drinkwise we only had 2 small wine glasses and a cocktail served in a champagne flute). The bream was lovely though!

Feels like we went to a different place to the other reviews. Greeted by a sheet of baking paper wafting underfoot and a member of staff not moved to pick it up (or apologise). Appeared to be supervisor, but couldn't have been less attentive. Given one menu between two. Repeatedly told our food choices were unavailable (Why not say when you seat people - or when they've already ordered something you haven't got?!). Prices on the high side for the quality. Fabulous decor though.

We had lunch at this restaurant as a group of three and were quite disappointed with our experience. While the staff were attentive, the overall presentation of the food left much to be desired. The salad served with the crab was overly basic, consisting only of leaves, a strip of carrot, and radish dropped into a bowl with no presentation or finesse. Additionally, the sourdough bread served with the crab did not complement the delicate flavors well; a plain brown bread or soda bread would have been a better choice. The chicken supreme dish was subpar, with fibrous, possibly pre-frozen meat. How easy is it to serve fresh chicken these days?! Overall, the quality of the food was mediocre, and we left feeling disappointed.

Looks like we must have had an off-night. The atmosphere and surroundings were wonderful. Having moved to the area a year ago and been recommended to come here, we finally got around to it. Very attentive staff, even the ones who were evidently less experienced were equally as attentive and did their upmost to ensure a nice dining experience. I must say though, having seen other reviews, and the recommendations we had about the place, the food did not live up to standards. Possibly a different chef, I don’t know. The assortment of breads and scallops were excellent; it was nice to see them served with the roe which isn’t a given at all restaurants. The catch of the day, although presented well, wasn’t ‘right’ in taste at all or particularly well cooked. I’d hasten a guess that it wasn’t caught that day. My partners chicken, similarly presented well, was also dry and the rice that it came with was incredibly oily, even I couldn’t eat it. We left, liking the atmosphere but overall disappointed with the food considering the price tag. I’ll take the risk to come back, but with that at the back of my mind.

The restaurant messed up our booking by not giving us a table in the area we had asked for , and been told was all fine , and rather than resolve the situation at the time simply let an unhappy and disgruntled customer walk away instead and go and eat elsewhere .Poor service indeed

I would like to be able to give a proper review of this restaurant, however i cannot. They cancelled my booking with only a days notice by just leaving a message on my answer phone - even though I'd booked two weeks in advance, saying the restaurant was full. We won't be recommending or frequenting this establishment in the future. If you are thinking of using the restaurant beware!
