Amazing experience at The Blue Point! Our server was very friendly and attentive. They had an excellent wine and cocktail selection. Food was delicious-- I had the Ceaser Salad and Shrimp & Grits. The ambiance is sophisticated and you can't beat the waterfront views.

The food and service are both great. If I could give the atmosphere 6 stars I would. The vibe inside is great and the sunset views over the sound are unbeatable. Ok onto the food....the biscuits w jam appetizer is AWESOME. We split shrimp and grits which was delicious. The medley of mushrooms with potatoes and green beans was very flavorful. The Mac n cheese needed a little more flavor but there's no way overall this place gets less than five stars. Will definitely be back!

Excellent spot for dinner. Their menu is small so you know each dish is masterfully curated. I got the down south shrimp and grits and was very happy with my choice. And if you time your dinner right, you can catch the sunset right afterwards at their back bar complete with Adirondack chairs along the bay.

Outstanding meal! One of the top restaurants in the Outer Banks. My husband's short ribs were the best either of us have ever had. I had a tuna special which was amazing! Fantastic service and wonderful views. Definitely take some time before or after your meal to walk along the boardwalk in Duck

We were on vacation and had reservations for 8:30pm. As we were walking around the boardwalk, we decided to stop in to see if we could grab a drink. Due to Covid, you couldn't sit at the bar but the friendly hostess was able to get us seated early. We sat outside on the patio. It was a windy night, but we enjoyed the view and our dinner. Food was delicious. Staff was very nice. We will be back on our next vaca!

OMG what an excellent restaurant! Our server, Felicia, was nothing short of amazing; friendly, conversational, and she gave excellent recommendations for everything from appetizers to entrees to wine and dessert. Today was our 30th anniversary and this was absolutely the perfect place to celebrate! Awesome sunset views to top it all off.

Our second trip to Duck and the blue point. Our first was back in early June 2020, right after restaurants had opened back up. Both times the Food selections were great, making it hard to decide what to order. I had a delicious small plate of pork belly with the most delicious pimento cheese polenta! Our group of six shared bites of all our food and desserts! Everything , including wine & cocktails, was spectacular! This will always be on our itinerary when we visit the Outer Banks! I wish we lived closer!

Flavorful food in a very friendly environment! There is something for everyone. Indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the Inlet. Perfect for watching sunsets with your favorite cocktail or while enjoying your meal. Plenty of parking. You can walk the boardwalk afterwards. Highly recommended when in the OBX!

One of my all time favorites. They have wonderful seafood. The menu is fresh and updated. Interesting combinations and perfectly prepared food. Good wine and cocktails selections. Service is always great and friendly. I make a "point" of going every time I'm in the OBX.

Just had to share our experience from Friday night at The Blue Point. From the time we walked in to the moment we walked out we had a great experience. As soon as we walked in an outgoing gentleman greeted us and was able to check us in early. We sat at the wonderful outside bar and had a cocktail before dinner. Our waiter, Isaac was over the top fantastic! What an amazing waiter and all-around great person. It’s the little things like taking the time to sit down next to me show me how to debone my fish- that made our experience that much better. Our food was exceptionally great. Everything we had were all recommendations and I’m glad that we listened. I just have to say once again how great Isaac was. We will come back to the restaurant for the food and to request to be seated in his section. Lastly, when we’re leaving the bus boy named Regan ran outside to return my girlfriend’s sunglasses that she forgot on the table. Our night was as over-the-top amazing, just like the people who helped us out. To whoever is reading this, I highly recommend going to The Blue Point. And, to whoever is reading this from The Blue Point- thank you. Please get a message back to our waiter and tell him thank you as well!

Delicious food and drink, comfortable atmosphere. The wedge salad had a generous portion of blue cheese crumbles, bacon and grape tomatoes. The Caesar salad was crisp and refreshing. The crab cakes were great because they don’t use a lot of bread or filler so you are getting your money’s worth. They were delicious with the accompanying sauce and a little bit of lemon juice drizzled on top. My wife got the ahi tuna special and it was very fresh tasting and the flavors were on point which was surprising because they served it with a salsa verde and spiced rice and beans giving it a little unique Latin spin. The cocktails were some of the best we’ve had in the OBX. The wright flyer was a tasty combination of bourbon and campari. The caliente y loca was one of the better spicy margaritas I’ve had. A perfect balance of spice and flavor. The summer haze was fantastic with a light smokiness from the mezcal. Definitely recommend the pecan pie with bourbon ice cream. 9/10 highly recommend. Oh and I recommend indoor seating and requesting a window. There is a nice our door area but the sound can get very windy which makes it hard to enjoy your meal if you are worrying about your table blowing away. Indoor and by a window allows you to still enjoy the setting sun. There is also a great back patio area with lawn seating where you can enjoy the sunset or just a drink after dinner in the cool evening air.

My wife and I hosted a wedding rehearsal for 35 people at Blue Point 2 weeks ago. We had it in the Back Bar, with a beautiful view of the sound at sunset. We could not have been more pleased. The food and the service was perfect.

If you are in Duck or nearby. I would highly recommend Blue Point. We like to sit inside and enjoy a hi-end decor with a great food. Make sure you plan ahead (we made a reservation a week in advance)

What a great place! Had some drinks at the outside bar before dinner, great views! Dinner was amazing (she-crab soup followed by the duck confit), impeccable service and a great atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in the area!

Definitely a place to celebrate a special occasion as the setting is intimate. Food was excellent with portions that don’t make you feel miserable if you eat it all. It’s a bit pricey, but you definitely receive quality service & food for what you are spending.

The sheep head sliders were excellent, and my snapper was outstanding! Lots of locals come here and some of the service have been here for decades. Also beautiful views because they’re located right on the water! The first worst games I’ve experienced just sucks.

The Blue Point is an incredible waterfront restaurant in Duck. We made reservations (recommended) and popped over early for an oyster night they were having. It was so packed and the oyster guys were so slammed, we decided to just get a glass of wine, chill on their back patio, and watch the sunset. When it was our time, we headed inside to a cozy little booth and had one of the most delicious meals I’ve had in a really long time. Everything was excellent and I cant wait to go back next time we’re down at the beach!

I cannot say enough good things!!! Highly impressed with the food, service, staff and atmosphere! Absolutely will be back when we come for our yearly trip to OBX!!

The Blue Point is hands down THE PLACE TO BE for an Outer Bank's sunset! To go along with dreamy sunsets, they have an awesome outdoor bar and venue space where live music plays as the sun goes down. Their food is delicious, with excellent service! A must visit when visiting the Outer Banks.

Another terrific dinner in Duck, NC! Blue Point offers an upscale dining experience in a cozy, welcoming space with a stunning view of the Currituck Sound—especially magical at sunset. We started with the Caesar salad, then enjoyed the catfish and duck confit, both beautifully prepared. For dessert, the crème brûlée and berry cobbler with buttermilk ice cream were outstanding. Our server, Reese, was attentive, knowledgeable, and added to the overall excellent experience. A truly lovely meal from start to finish.

Not many places genuinely feel like a home cooked meal. From the entree to the desert, everything felt like it was hand crafted and tasted like it too. My new favorite place in obx for dinner and date night.

Hands down, one of the best restaurants in NC and beyond. We always make a reservation while in the OBX. And some weekends we go two nights in a row. From the time you walk in, service is impeccable - it's comfortable fine dining. Their dessert options are amazing! And the view isn't bad either. :)

Cool vibe restaurant, atmosphere is a blend of retro, cozy and inviting. Been coming here for years and we love the new feel, and of course the sunsets! Our server Christie, was excellent. Food delicious and plated beautifully.

Host was very accommodating despite not having a recommended reservation. Waited only 45 minutes for bar seating while we got drinks out back and enjoyed the amazing view of the sunset. Once seated, the food and service inside continued as amazing as the outdoor view. Both seafood and pork were delicious. Try as much of the menu as you can and you won't be disappointed.

Partner and I went for a birthday dinner. Ate outside on deck. Weather was beautiful as was the meal. I had the recommended entree and it was fabulous. After dinner we had dessert as the dun set on the water.

We love this place - even more so since the Brother(s) and Sister team took over! Always the beacon of the Outer Banks - incredible meals and views every time. If you want the cream of the crop on the Outer Banks - Blue Point is it!

Hands down a MUST visit. Highly recommend sitting on patio around sunset. Food was incredible. Service was excellent. A 2 person band was playing at the outdoor bar area and played hit after hit. Our best experience of the week in OBX.

BEST PORK CHOP EVER. So what if I order a pork chop at ever restaurant that boasts one. I expect pork perfection - and The Blue Point achieved it. Pork excellence! This chop was beyond good. It had this crust with a bacon essence that just made me laugh it was so good. And the bread pudding had the perfect savoriness. Oh my word! It’s a must try! My hubs got the crab cakes - also VERY GOOD. But the night belonged to Porky-God rest his soul. He was VERY good.

We went to The Blue Point on September 27, 2020 during covid and it was a fantastic decision. The restaurant was taking all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of customers. Beyond that, the food was amazing and while we were there at night and so didn't get the best view of the sound, the waterfront location is still great. I'm sure the place is much more crowded during normal times, but I'll still make an effort to eat here every time I'm at the Outer Banks.

The minute we book our OBX stay, my family starts talking about dinner at Blue Point. Yesterday’s visit was exceptionally good, with the most wonderful wedge salad, beef tenderloin, and dessert special (peach and berry cobbler with buttermilk ice cream). And a gorgeous sunset to boot. Treat yourself to Blue Point. You deserve it!

Blue Point is a fantastic special dining restaurant! Located overlooking the bay, the views are wonderful. The staff are always friendly and attentive, the chef's creations are on point, and the mixed drinks are tasty. Be sure to order the oyster stew while it's in season; the shift to she-crab soup over the dinner months. I also appreciate that the wait staff and chefs are very attentive to my food allergies! Blue Point is definitely a must for a special occasion in OBX.

We stayed in Duck for a week and heard great things about this spot, and it did not disappoint! We sat at the bar and had incredibly friendly, attentive service. Our bartender recommended the buttermilk biscuits to start, which were delicious, and we both loved our entrees: the beef tenderloin and pork chop were perfectly cooked. To finish, the brownie and the blueberry peach cobbler special were the perfect cherry on top. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in OBX!

I have been to many restaurants in the OBX, and then I was told of this wonderful establishment. We called ahead to ask if there were accommodations and were assured there were. When we showed up they had already set a table for us (without reservations) to our party's needs. I think this is hands down the best dining experience I have had on the entire east coast. Our staff was incredibly personable, attentive, but never interruptive. Exceptionally professional. The menu was without a doubt the most well thought out and geniusly endeavored, ambitious recipes... but so lovingly local. From starters to salads, drinks... literally at one point we all just challenged each other to find something off about this place just to make it less perfect. I was a fish manger for 5 years, and I taught people how to make gourmet, fresh caught crab cakes... and I will ask myself for the next 2 months what I missed bc the ones I were served here were so expertly crafted im going to lose sleep over it and ask God if I actually ever had life skills. Eat here. Who cares what it costs? It's worth it.

Very delicious food with excellent service and a perfectly unencumbered view of the water! We had a variety of dishes - all expertly seasoned and prepared. Such a treat!

We have eaten here for over 20 years and the Blue Point never disappoints. Our meal last night was superb. We chose to sit at the bar which offers an additional bar menu. My husband got the hamburger and said it was delicious. I got the small plate burrata- a very mixed combination of flavors but it was a culinary delight. Burrata, olives, roasted squash, toasted petitas, whole almonds, arugula, toasted ciabatta and a pomegranate sauce. So unusual and so flavorful. What an experience. Winter dining at the Blue Point is a delectable treat.

The two specials we ordered were outstanding. Our server, Cat was awesome! The Red Snapper special was perfection. It was served with a sweet potato hash topped with a tarragon hollandaise sauce. Charleston could not beat this dish! We then had the pumpkin crumble dessert that was a perfect way to end our meal. Our first time there, most definitely not our last! Hats off to the chef!!

The Blue Point provides an outstanding dining experience. While ownership has passed in 2021 from the original owners to the new owners, siblings Ryan, Leigh, and Jamie Raskin. The trio has continued the tradition of culinary excellence in Duck, NC. I've traveled the country and have dined in New York, LA, Chicago, etc. etc. and The Blue Point rivals any place I've been for location, ambience, service and quality of apps, small and large plates, and drinks. As anyone who has dined at The Blue Point knows, the location offers a view of spectacular sunsets. Once inside the restaurant, you note the cool and unique design that the original owners John Power and Sam McGann brought to their space 30+ years ago. Vintage tables, booths, lighting, bar area with comfy seating. It's like comfort for the soul sitting down and nestled into your space. Our server, Mark, was outstanding. Attentive, not overbearing, providing space in time to ponder the drink and food menus. A server elevates the experience or deflates it- Mark's interaction with our 6-person party was perfectly calibrated. Our drink orders were prepared to perfection. Key to the beginning of our anticaped fun. Beverages ignite the party or drown it. Our drinks lit the fuse and the party was on. We began with the Blue Point Carolina she crab bisque. It was delicious and served at just the right temperature to bring out all of the flavor. That was joined by the soft crab on cole slaw- well plated, and prepared. The mixed green salad was prepared with pickled strawberries toasted sunflower seeds and strawberry vincotto vinaigrette. A cacophony of flavors working so well. The hit were the fried green tomatoes. Lightly battered, fried, and with tasty pimento cheese. Our group raved over them. Just when we thought things could not get any better, the entrees were served. Scalloped cooked to perfection on quinoa, with roasted apples, aleppo spiced pork lordons, raisins and apple brown butter vinaigrette. The southern shrimp and mill grits with scallops, smoked tasso ham. Exquisite texture, taste. The Virginia catfish did not taste like chicken- lol. Because it was served lightly breaded, with red beans and rice with alligator sausage, house pickles (yum), topped with Cajun ramoulade. Last, the special flounder was outstanding. Our dessert was shared creme broule and topped off an overall 5 star dining experience. Kudos to the chef, sous chef and the entire service staff. I cannot say enough good things about The Blue Point. Do not miss this place while in Duck, NC!!

Best meal of our vacation! I had the tenderloin with a delicious potato medley side. Perfecto. Hubby had crab cakes he enjoyed very much. Good wine list.

The best meal we had in Duck. Would come back in a heartbeat. Service was excellent. And the pecan pie? Best I've ever had. We watched the sunset from the bar next door after our meal. One of my favourite holiday memories 😍

One of our favorites and one of the best in OBX. Excellent food and service. An added bonus is the amazing sunsets over the sound. Advance reservations are an absolute must. UPDATE Sep 2025: The size and popularity of the restaurant has grown exponentially over the years to the point where you can no longer expect a quiet dinner. Our Thurs night visit was very crowded with a wait to be seated more than 15 min beyond our reservation time. The noise level was very high making conversation an effort. The crab cakes are still very good but the shrimp dish I had was only average.

C
Cathie Bales

A very pleasant restaurant on the sound. Not busy on a weekday for lunch. It would be a perfect location for a sunset with excellent outside seating. The menu was somewhat limited. My burger was good and my husband liked the crab cake sandwich. Service was good as they were not busy. They are located at the end of a parking lot so just a little difficult to see.

Was super nice place. Shrimp and grits were of the charts. Sweet potato soup was very very good Only complaint is the salmon was basically burnt on skin. Good flavor but not great. Everything else was very tasty, but overpriced. Entree was perfect size and price. But the salad was small for the cost.

Nice american fare with southern twist. They have seafood, steak and porkchop/duck. Their chef will have seasonal changes on the menu. The she crab bisque and duck confit are delicious. If you have kids, they dont have kids menu, but they can make simple pasta/spaghetti dish. We love when they have oyster roast and can listen to live music and enjoy the sunset at the Backbar in the summer and fall.

Gorgeous views out back at the bar. Really dig the outside vibe. The Manhattan was t all that good…but the beer was decent. Dinner was good. A bit pricey for what you get…but quality is above par for what you can get in town. I’ll definitely go back for drinks.

We have been coming here for so many years probably 15 or more. We were very disappointed with the chicken wings. They came out barley warm. They did not taste good at all. The pork chop was ok but not worth going back. The seevice was good and the atmosphere was okay . Not sure we will be back sadly. For the prices we paid we expect the food to be much better. The wings were so big I was afraid to eat them it's like they were full of hormones. The wine was delicious 😋.

N
Nicholas Thornton

Nothing really wowed us and the dishes all came with a ton of tomatoes which was odd. Everyone seemed to enjoy their seafood/meat, but the sides left a lot to be desired. Service was nothing to write home about. That being said, I would recommend trying if you see something on the menu you like. The portions are good! Make a reservation too!

Went with my Wife for Dinner. The Mac and cheese, biscuits, sweet potato soup and drinks were good. However, most of the food was salty and the flavor profiles were a little off. My duck was overseasoned and all of the vegetables in the bottom of the bowl were covered in oil/grease. My Wife's Gnocchi was covered in smoked paprika and it made the whole thing inedible. Drinks were good though.

F
Frank Schoof

Food was carb heavy but light on protein and very expensive. The drinks were not balanced, 1 was bitter, 1 so acidic difficult to drink. Waiter was a bit odd in attitude, it was not busy. I would not eat here again.

D

Please let chef know to never use frozen onion rings on a steak again. Julienne some onions, hand batter and fry if you want some crispy onions. This is a fine dining establishment and should be treated as such, especially with a one night special menu, and try order Prime meat for these special occasions so guests get the best quality and experience when spending their hard earned money. Apps and desserts were acceptable but entree missed its mark. Doesn’t matter how nice the ambiance and setting is, if the food isn’t able to match up. Being on the coast though probably should’ve went with fish or scallops, I guess we’ll never know
