We had drinks here one night of our stay in the hotel and it was very lively. The staff was lovely and helpfunctie. We also had breakfast here every morning and the staff was very helpfull and again lovely. The food was also very good!
Excellent location for a birthday drink. Beautiful setting. The staff were so friendly and even surprised me with a couple of chocolates and a lovely card when they found out it was my birthday!
This place was incredible! Every seat offers a magical view. Champagne menu that offers any level of cost and celebration. We ordered a couple small plates that were both divine in taste and presentation. It was March, so too cold to sit outside, but they had blankets on the seats for those who wanted the outdoor experience. Our server was most lovely! Really wish I had gotten his name to give him due credit! It was our favorite drink experience of our trip. Highly recommend this lounge. Even the restrooms were top notch with a large vanity area and private sinks in each toilet.
My mum, sister and I visited Nor Loft on 18/01. What a lovely afternoon! The bar is cosy, views are great and the service was impeccable! We were greeted and sat down, managed to get a window table. Our server made our visit so special, I wish I had gotten her name. She was so kind, warm, friendly & attentive. We had some food too, the salmon belini platter is amazing, if you like smoked salmon I would highly recommend.
Found very close to the station if you are lucky on a nice day you will get one of the seats outside the main area. Lovely views looking back onto the station and inside has a warm welcoming feel. We we there on a Saturday evening and the music was pitched at the right level and a good selection. Prides itself on its champagne and the couple I tried I enjoyed but there is enough on the menu to keep everyone satisfied. On the pricier side but you pay that for the ambience and setting.
Lovely spot right next to Waverly. Great views, Interesting cocktails and good nibbles. It can be as fancy and pricey as you want, making it a great sunset date spot, though book beforehand and maybe suggest a private nook.
Great rooftop bar with a view over the centre of Edinburgh, sadly it was torrential rain when we were there and we couldn't make the most of the outside area, however the interior is a very nice place to be, warm, comfy and with plenty of choice, we had some nibbles (butter chicken sliders wee great as was the cheese and chili popcorn) and a few drinks, although this is a champagne bar, there is plenty of choice the house lager is great. Our server was great, friendly, knowledgable and interested in our night without being overbearing, I didn't catch her name but she was a highlight. It was my wife's birthday and as a nice touch they brought out a couple of birthday chocolates. Very classy. Overall this venue is definitely worth a visit and even on a piss wet Scottish day. We had a great time and will return.
Chic, sexy but comfortable space located on the 7th floor of the Market Street Hotel. Perfect place for tapas or drinks. Staff can’t be nicer or more helpful. Great selection of champagnes, whiskeys and cocktails. Interesting small plates. Love the views (and if nice weather, the outdoor patio)
Had drinks here, what a beautiful bar with equally beautiful views. Staff are really nice and friendly, lovely bar to relax whilst looking over Edinburgh.
Highly recommend with a great view of Princess Street and Edinburgh. Loads of drink options to sit and enjoy over the views of Edinburgh. Staff are extremely helpful and whiling to assist with any drink options.
Five stars for drinks (we didn’t have any food) and the view makes it super special. Cocktails took a while to come but only because they were freshly made with fruits. Champagne served perfectly and generously.
Was treated to a champagne afternoon tea by my wife. I have to say the whole experience was fantastic. Every member of the team were great. Attentive, but not too much! Always someone there to top up our champagne! It's not your traditional afternoon tea.....it way surpasses that! Tom the head chef took time to come and talk us through each of the dishes which were all amazing. Thank you to Tom for a very enjoyable afternoon and to every member of the team, we had such a great day! 😀
Great quick friendly service. Lovely charcuterie board, a great accompaniment to the house champagne. Oysters available too. Lovely stylish interior with fantastic views of the city.
This stylish rooftop bar boasts breathtaking views of the city, and its chic and contemporary decor is the perfect complement to the stunning surroundings. The ambiance of Nor' Loft is truly exceptional, with a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere that is perfect for any occasion. The staff at Nor' Loft provide exemplary service, going above and beyond to ensure that every guest has a memorable experience.
Brilliant setting with stunning views, comfortable seating, fireplaces, good food, and most importantly: excellent Champagne. The vintage bottles are very fairly priced, and the food options are varied and perfectly suited to their Champagne companions.
A bar with one of the best views of the city of Edinburgh. We visited this for a friend's engagement celebration and had a great time. The views were amazing and the staff were very attentive. Will definitely be back
The 7th floor terrace is one of my regular places in Edinburgh to visit. Fantastic views across Scottish history from The Caledonian Hotel, The Johnny Walker Experience, The Balmoral Hotel, St. Andrew's and Bute House. The staff are fantastic and faultless. It's definitely the place to visit. If you can get a room with Balcony you will not be dissapointed
We came on Tuesday for evening drinks. The bar is absolutely beautiful. We sat on the terrace which was amazing. Drinks were great and very reasonably priced. Our waiters were also great. I would highly recommended and would return again if in Edinburgh
An alternative take on afternoon tea with a really tasty ‘tapas’ style flavoursome savoury mini tasters followed by Scottish themed cakes and tea. Views out across the Royal Mile in a trendy top floor vista.
A champagne lounge at the rooftop of the Market Street Hotel. Really nice view with cozy and elegant atmosphere. They have a variety of seasonal signature champagne cocktails that we really enjoyed. They also have a large selection of spirits and can accommodate your wishes if you do not fancy champagne. They have bites and snacks to share as well with your drink. I really liked the cheese and chilli popcorn with my Pomegranate French 75. Recommend a visit for a nice night out.
We kicked off our wedding anniversary celebrations here this week with a couple of amazing bottles of champagne, served by the wonderful Atlanta! The space is awesome, the views across to Princes Street are stunning, and the service was impeccable! The complimentary petit fours, along with a lovely card, were the icing on the cake!
Our new favourite bar. These pumpkin things were unreal. Staff were absolutely amazing - props to our wonderful hostess from Namibia (I think your name was Eli) and also Robbie and Isla for being absolutely amazing (especially in handling my liability of a drunken friend). We will definitely be back 🧡
Fabulous place especially for visitors as you can see all over Princess Street and surrounding buildings. Staff amazing.
Great rooftop bar with a stunning view of the whole of Edinburgh. Selection of champagnes and cocktails excellent. Staff very professional and friendly.
Cool place to hang out, have a wee cocktail and read a good book overlooking the station and a bit of Edinburgh’s center. Friendly staff.
Lovely champagne and cocktails, beautiful place and the staff were so attentive and friendly.
Had a great time here, really great menu, amazing drinks, and excellent service. Amazing thank you to Jakub and the team for being such great hosts and for the amazing service.
Lovely spot, we came here after being tourists and doing some shopping. Atmosphere is so laid back and exactly what you need after being on your feet all day. Rooftop views are nice and staff are friendly. Somehow knew it was our anniversary even though we never said anything and got a nice card and some free choc!
Really good service. Friendly staff who were not afraid of giving their recommendations. Drinks aren't the cheapest but definitely not overpriced either. About right for the venue and service in my opinion. View was really nice and the smoking terrace was a very welcome addition for me personally. I'd definitely return!
Last night me and my friends visited Nor Loft for the first time. What a stunning place! Great city views, attentive staff and the most important- delicious cocktails and big choice of champagne. Had some nibbles too and everything was delicious! Would definitely recommend to visit, either for a friends night out or romantic date.
We hosted an evening here for our clients to celebrate the launch of our new business RITMOS: The Operating System For Accounting Firms. It was champagne and canapés in a private area for 20. The service was absolutely exceptional, canapés were beautiful, and the gentleman who was looking after our party was very attentive and even remembered who was drinking what across all 20 people. Coats were taken, champagne poured and nobody ever sat with an empty glass The atmosphere was great and the views over Edinburgh incredible Thank you
Lovely spot for a quiet drink with amazing views of the city. You pay a premium for the drinks and location, which are slightly key down by staff who didn't seem quite welcoming / warm.
Jakob was absolutely unreal, tended to our every need and made sure we were comfortable. Couldn’t ask for a better server. Great roof top bar with great service. 10/10
Quite a nice place to visit. There are some great views but depending on where you sit you might only be able to see grey roof tops. The outside seating has nice views when the weather is sunny but only small tables.
The overall quality of the breakfast was good. Market Street Breakfast - The sausages and black pudding were good. The bacon was too salty. Berry and elderflower loaf - Not bad. Porridge with Maldon sea salt flakes - Not bad.
Hard to find, in the hotel but worth looking. Nice friendly staff. Had’nt made a reservation but got a table by the window toward St Andrews square garden. Great view! Had a non alcoholic cava and a Edinburgh gin.
Beautiful views of Edinburgh City centre. Layout is good comfy seating. Download the menu and order. The staff are helpful. Great service.. love the toilets mixed the lighting is great worth a visit. Had some nibbles and was friends birthday and they gave her chocolates so sweet. Our friends arrived and the team where so accommodating Amazing amaretto sour and organic rose wine
We love Nor Loft for drinks... absolutely brilliant selection of champagne and cocktails! The view is great and it feels super exclusive. We were guests at the hotel and visited for breakfast too, and the service was a bit slow. Otherwise perfect!
The best toilets in Edinburgh! Go to this place just for the toilets. And the view is great. And the staff are lovely but should be paid more to cope with the likes of me
Not necessarily the place to go if you want to enjoy the rooftop views with a larger party. We were sat by the entrance with basically 0 view. Balcony has space for parties of two or three at the most. Only later saw that there was a larger table in a nook with great blvoews and wonder why we hadn't been seated there. Got an alcoholic cocktail even though I ordered the cocktail. Finger food was decent. Toilets are surprisingly exceptional. Maybe will enjoy it more if coming back just as a couple and sit outside.
It's a great place to enjoy the view. We sat in a small nook with a view of the Bank of Scotland building on the Mound. There are champagnes by the glass and a nice selection of wine. We ordered the IJ Mellis cheese plate, which was delicious.
This rooftop terrace has an absolutely amazing view. We went at night and it was honestly wonderful seeing the city lights from up there. It was a bit misty because of the weather, but that almost added to the atmosphere. We’d definitely love to go back in summer to see the view properly on a clear evening. They have outdoor seating as well, which I imagine would be beautiful in better weather, but it was closed when we visited due to the conditions. We ordered wine and a couple of cocktails and they were all very good. The drinks were well made and nicely presented, so no complaints there. The only downside for us was the service. It started off completely fine, but after a while the waitress kept coming back to collect empty glasses quite frequently, which made us feel a bit rushed. The place was actually pretty empty, and they had seated us in one of the best spots with a great view, so we were a bit confused as to why it felt like they wanted us to leave. We were only there for about one to two hours and there were still a couple of hours left before closing time, so it felt slightly strange. That said, the overall atmosphere and the view really stood out. One thing to note is that the entrance is a bit hidden since it’s located at the top of a hotel. When you walk into the lobby, there is a sign indicating where to go, but it’s not immediately obvious from outside. We'll return on a clearer summer evening and hoping that the service will be better too.
Such a strange experience, the service was exceptional, the wine list great, the atmosphere and view were fabulous. The fondue was not good. Of course I’m comparing it to fondue in Switzerland from when I lived there. It was sad that the central part was a let down. I would go again for drinks but the food was meh !!
Maybe the staff were having an off day, but the service was not as great as previous reviews. The food was ok, however I cannot judge it too much as it is my first restaurant here in Scotland. Drinks were fairly expensive but well made. The bartenders were very kind, however our server seemed to not care about us.
Very poor experience. It would be one star if it wasn’t for one or two lovely members of staff I booked this place for birthday drinks and food - which they clearly advertise on their website and on menu when you go in. It was extremely quiet as we went on a Wednesday. We sat down and had a drink and when it came to ordering food, were told that the one thing I wanted to order, steak, was not an option as it “took too long to cook”. Had they advised us this earlier we would have ordered it earlier and that would have solved the problem but the manager who was telling us, Doubled down and kept making excuses so that we felt so awkward and I ended up not ordering anything and my friend ordered a snack to be polite and it was awful. The manager was not apologetic in any way, and he then told our lovely waiter off within our earshot and it was extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable to see. I ended up having a crap experience on what should have been my birthday drink and food. We left as I felt very weird about the whole thing and due to the manager, my mood was ruined for the rest of the evening and we struggled to get food elsewhere due to the time. This was the managers poor service and fault. I really don’t recommend
Prepaid £75 for the cheese fondue experience, so you’d expect perfection — instead, I got something that tasted like packet white sauce pretending to be cheese. Service was lovely and the views are stunning, but that’s where it ends. Feedback wasn’t taken seriously either. Save your money: grab a cocktail, get your photos, and eat elsewhere.
We were told that they couldn’t sit 3 of us and one of us had to sit alone but the tables would be close together outside. We saw others pulled up a chair and they didn’t say anything to other patron. So I pulled up my chair and they immediately started being difficult. We ended up leaving and not ordering anything because of how inflexible they were. Prices are expensive… beware.
My experience was really disappointing. We planned our day and booked a table in advance, but we weren't let in because we didn't have our IDs with us. We hadn't planned to drink, we just wanted to spend time together and enjoy good food. However, the person at the podium wasn't helpful, which ruined our experience.
Me and two of my best friends had been to nor loft last weekend on a special occasion. It was a special day for three of us we had made the booking in advance and were all ready to enjoy ourselves but that was absolutely smashed by the experience we had at nor loft. When reached the restaurant we were not even greeted by the host at the podium, rather some other person had directed us. She was busy on call, which we understood and waited calmly but it was to our dismay that we were told we can’t be seated in the restaurant because we didn’t have ids on us. We had no plans for drinking and had told the lady we have it on our phone we are here just to eat neither was it mentioned on the website to which we were told they had some policy and will inform marketing team. It ruined our mood and made us really disappointed for the service we received and the occasion we were to celebrate. I would highly recommend people planning to visit the place rethink as you may be asked things which are not listed when you made the booking
Christmas night out in a swanky place? In fairness the nibbles everyone else had looked ok but as a non-animal eater, the small pot of hummus with pita bread was unimaginative, dried out around the edges and flavourless.
