Every time I drive through Elgin, I'm stopping for a chicken salad sandwich and an unsweet tea. I always go through the drive thru, and everyone is so fast and helpful. I can always count on the freshest tea and the softest rolls. If my son is with me, he always get piping hot chicken tenders (which get mom taxed bc they're so good, and sharing is caring) with gravy that literally stays hot until we're home to Austin.

The food I ordered was great even the mac n cheese, which really surprised me. They were out of a lot of things. Although, I can see why, they always have a line. I think Elgin needs 2 Golden Chick's...problem solved then there will be enough for everyone. Uber eats. My food was fast and hot. Couldn't touch it, was so hot. No complaints here.

When it concerns Chicken as fast food, there is no place better in the area then Golden Chick. Our go to for a family box of chicken with, Okra, Fries, the best coleslaw, buns and gravy.

I brought my service dog in training, and was only asked to take her outside after she got friendly with a man at the next table. I'm filling CIVIL SUIT papers regarding the 7 puppies STOLEN by Bastrop Animal Services on Cool Water Drive. There, the smell of a nearby dogfood factory must be extremely offensive to the unfortunate animals in small cages there. What were these Animals charged with, that they should suffer from an odor so strong it made a friend literally vomit, and he does not have a nose as sensitive as a dog"s nose !!! I want to find out what company makes that horrible smell so I can avoid buying their brand of dog food, or puppy food !! Please don't let your pet ever be picked up by the Bastrop Animal Control as they once advised me that after 24 hours they own the Animal Poor Sasha about 50% Wolf and part Red Rhodesian Ridgeback, was neutered there, and after a few years. She was so fat and lazy that...it indirectly caused her DEATH. Yes, I cried ! ! Anyway, I love Fried chicken and catfish, and their gravy was great on my French fries.

Golden chick is one of my absolute favorite go-tos! I have a pretty sensitive stomach so sometimes all I can eat is soft foods such as mashed potatoes. Golden Chick has some of my favorite mashed potatoes and it’s so convenient when I don’t want to make my own. I also really love their roast chicken! The employees are typically very kind and prompt and I have yet to have any issues with this location. Definitely a fan!

This place is the best idk why are y’all hating so much their costumers are so nice and their mangers are the best and I noticed this manager named rossana is really nice and helpful each time I go there she is the best she should get a raise this is why I always come in their food is super good and their sandwiches are amazing the zing sauce is by far the best sauce I had is my life

Was really hungry for chicken this night and stopped in and it was so good! Just like I remember from being in school in 1985 in Pflugerville and walking to Golden Chick for lunch for their Snack-Pack. Definitely ate more than a snack pack this night😊

The alley cats that live in the drive thru are adorable and they guilt tripped me to throw a delicious chicken tender their way. I'm worried I've disturbed the hierarchy of the group by my actions though.

To start off, this was my Wifes and my first visit to any Golden Chick location. The overall experience was awesome and made us want to come back. The food alone was hot and tasty, we both got chicken strips and were impressed with the outcome of a normally very mediocre meal at most other chicken establishments. The cleanliness of the restaurant was over all astounding. I was in restaurant management for many years so I am a little picky when it comes to the cleanliness of the dining area and restrooms. I can safely say we were both impressed by everything this store had to offer us, down to the free ice cream for every dine in customer. I am not a big ice cream fan however, theirs is comparable to dairy queen soft serve, which is amazing in my opinion. The service was quick and efficient too. My whole order was ready before i was even finished filling up my drink!!! It brought a metaphorical tear to my eye. :D

We're out of fried chicken and was told it would take 25 minutes to finish cooking. So I chose chicken tenders, salad, biscuit and gravy. It was the best decision, the chicken was very crispy and tender. The salad was fresh and crisp. The biscuit was very good soft and sweet.

They had a rush just before I got there so they were short on legs but since I prefer thighs it's was fine by me, also they were cooking a fresh batch of good hot chicken. Lucky customers behind me. LOL!

We have hit a few of these. Clean store and fast service. We got the 24 wing special. Should of had them cook them fresh. They were a bit too dry for our liking. Will remember that for the next time.

I went by here for dinner for my family a while back and I have to be honest I was pretty unhappy with my experience. They messed up my order pretty bad and when I called the store for assistance, they refused to answer my calls. I drove all the way back from Manor because they didn't answer, but I digress. Thing is, looking back, I feel that I judged them too harshly for one bad experience. I have given them a few chances to turn my experience around, and they have. Their food is great, and my last several experiences have been great. Changed my review from 1 star to 4. Thanks for changing my mind. I will keep coming back.

Food is great as always. They have switched their packaging to large, plastic containers that are awkward to handle and less environmentally friendly than the cardboard boxes they previously used.

Decently fast drive through for a chicken restaurant, and the food was excellent. Sometimes you have to wait quite a bit and sometimes they wint have certain varieties but all in all still my go to for chicken.

For the most part it was good, the staff was friendly, but the woman in drive through was eating messy food then handling other peoples food. She wiped her hand and moth on the owl meant for drying cups... not coming back.

They are almost always out of roasted chicken. I wanted 8 pieces, the lady told me there was only 5 pieces which was thighs I said ok..when I got home, I had 2 thighs a leg and 2 wing roasted

The chicken was hot and fresh. It didn't taste like old grease. But my goodness, there was a ton of grease used to prepare the food. Tired of Elgin being a culinary desert.

I have always enjoyed eating at the Golden Chick franchise restaurants. This location in Elgin Texas is one I stopped at three or four times a year. Their customer service is always friendly and courteous. Their chicken is always fresh and tasty. And their side orders are always up to par.

It's nice e to go to a place e such as this and receive warm greetings, accommodation and patience along with the order being right the first time. Your in store staff is what makes paying the price for items sold here worth it. Your chicken is aaaaight but the Teams that greet and treat patrons like myself who look at that.. They have catfish and will fresh cook it for about a 7 minute wait. It is meaty, big pieces and fresh tasting. Buy an order with their delicious warm yeast rolls and a glass of fresh iced tea.

The self serve area lacks being kept up with on more than 1 dine in. Had to ask for eating utensil, straws, ice, tea, and a cone blocking a spill right by the self serve area. No hand soap in the women’s restroom.

I love the tenders here. So when I walked up and saw the new chipotle buffalo tenders, i thought-awesome! Not so much. They came out swimming in ‘buffalo’ sauce. The crispy tender was ruined and now soggy. The sauce was too much. I could have asked for them to swap it out. But that is what I had ordered. Not again. The problem really began when every table in the dining room was sticky. Gross. Then my wife’s salad had rotten broccoli in it. The young woman at the counter couldn’t even fix the problem without assistance from the manager. Seriously? It’s rotten, and we paid for it already. Exchange it and make it right. Tenders only from now on and drive through all the way. The employees are quite nice and polite here, and that bears mentioning.

Didn't get my order correctly and when I paid extra for the right one they never gave it to me so towards the end of my meal I asked to replace it with something else

A perfectly decent KFC alternative. I ordered their 3-piece meal. The chicken was cooked to satisfaction, with a nice crunchy coating. I'll come back when I have an hankering again for something nice and greasy and deep fried! Edit: On a separate visit I ordered spicy wings. The wings were cooked regular and had a spicy mix sprinkled on. It was more heat than flavor so didn't really improve my evaluation of the place.

The food was good as usual, but I'm pretty sure there chickens they use must lay golden eggs and they have to make up their loses for cooking said chicken with the $30 they charge for 16 tenders, a handful of okra, and a cut up potato. Also, I'm almost positive that every person who works there hates their job because their customer service is not always excited to be there and it shows.

Everytime we go here they are always out of some kind of chicken or the printer is down for receipts. Seem to always be a problem with the workers, definitely need more management skilled people working than what they have in the afternoon when everyone is trying to get home with food.

First off the food we ordered was good, but my only complaint is every time me and my family eat here, there’s always a 87% chance they don’t have something. For example one time they ran out of French fries and today they didn’t have no chicken legs. But overall their customer service is good and the food is good.So I can’t be too mad because I know there’s a chicken shortage.

I was let down by our family's fried chicken meal which cost $60. That's quite a bit of money! The chicken was greasy, and the two sides didn't impress either. The only thing I enjoyed was the bread. Honestly, I don't think it was worth the price. This will be my last visit; I think I'll just make my own from now on. I wanted to treat my family to some delicious chicken, but sadly, that didn't work out. The guy at the drive-through wasn't friendly and appeared to not want to be there, so it seemed that way to me. I think some team builders, training specific to your restaurant may be beneficial to your management and teams.

Very tiny pieces of overcooked catfish that tasted old and cold fries. The window cashier was polite as usual but the food was really pathetic. I paid about $10 for 3 tiny pieces (smaller than fish sticks) of old overcooked fish and a small order of fries and to top it off the Dr. Pepper had no syrup it was pure carbonated water! I am a weekend regular here(Or was anyway)

I was craving friend chicken so I decided to give this place a try, despite all the terrible reviews. It was my first time here but will probably be my last. The food had good flavor but I was disappointed by the stale roll I received. I can tell it would've been delicious had it been fresh. And the "wicked" wings I received looked nothing like they did on the menu. They are literally just plain fried wings with paprika and chili powder thrown on top.

Food taste is alright but service is very bad. They charged a single yeast roll for the same price as a side when half a dozen yeast rolls is just a bit over the price of a side meaning I should have at least gotten three rolls. They apparently arent familiar with basic price calculations. They dont wear any hair nets and we ended up finding hair in the mashed potatoes. The lady didnt apologize and all they did was throw the whole plait of food in front of us and give us another plate of food which also ended up having hair on it. Very unsanitary. Golden chick is alright but I dont recommend this location.

NOT GOING BACK HERE! Got there at 9:00 Friday night, 1/17/20. Girl taking orders was talking as fast & incoherent I could barely understand her, & she in NO WAY understood me! Ordered a 4pc tender that she quickly said would take 7 min to make, then ordered a 3pc & she responded 'Ice Tea?', repeated me order & again she said 'Iced Tea?' followed by 'anything else?' Very rude, obviously did not want to work, & is losing business for that franchise. After driving from Manor to go here I will NOT make that mistake again.

Food Poisoning!! Thursday I bought lunch at Golden Chick on 290. I got severe food poisoning. I was bed ridden and up all night Thursday running to the bathroom every 20 minutes. After a telemed appointment and a friend of mine coming over to help me get the medicine that I needed I was bedridden and still am. I'm no longer running to the bathroom very often but I can hardly eat a thing and an extremely sick. Worst of all, in the middle of the night I went to go get some more water in the fridge and the leftover chicken smelled so bad it made me nauseated. It was extremely toxic and now I have to hire someone to come and clean out my fridge (deep clean) because I'm too tired to stand. I am weak and can't catch my breath from a short walk to the kitchen and.back. it's not covid. I have home tests and they came back negative. It is the chicken.

I gave the 1 star for the food. The tenders are always good. The checken sandwich is rubber. Also, the reason I didnt give more stars is because I recently went on a rampage of wanting Golden Chick once a week and the last 4 times my parter and I have tried to dine in, they have the doors locked and they ignore us. Most of those times it was at 7pm, dine in ends at 9pm so I don't get it. Also, everytime I go they are out of 2 or 3 things. Gravy, condiments, sweet tea, wings, chicken???. I would say to try and get GC early as they seem to run out of things and are not really mindful of people who would like to dine.

This place is AWFUL! They are ALWAYS out of chicken, 20 min wait at 8:30pm. No, thanks. Also, the person taking orders kept talking over me and told me, I dont know what to tell you when I asked why they are out. Then she said, there is always a wait because a lot of people order dark meat. Well, duh! They dont close until 10pm. Obviously they dont manage inventory well. This is not just an occasional happening. Out of curiosity, I went three times this week, all around 8:30. All three times told about a 15 min wait.

When we finally arrived at the window to get our food, I was told they were out of chicken salad, which is the only item I will eat there, unfortunately. I left hungry & irritated.

I visited this location at 1:30 in the afternoon. I ordered the 3 piece fish. I received almost cold old fish. I requested fresh fish, was told it’ll be a ten minute wait, and pull to the front and they’ll bring it out. I said, that’s fine. As soon as I pulled to the front, I’m assuming the manager came to let me know, it’ll be a 30 minute wait. Huh?? I asked, why, he said, they were changing the oil. I asked, so why did they sell me fish from dirty oil 🤣 and asked for my money back!!! Sooooo, anyone who at lunch at this location before 1:30, they served you “nasty oil chicken and fish!” 🤣 which I knew he was lying!!! I guest they’re mad because I wanted edible food.🤷🏽‍♀️ What restaurant changes oil in the middle of lunch rush 🤣 I’ll never go back.

Looking at other reviews my experience is a common one, and I suggest you focus on fixing the environment at this location to better serve your guests instead of just throwing free food at them to satisfy them in the meantime.

The 2nd time I gave them an opportunity and the chicken and rolls tasted like day old food yet again. Requested 3 wings and he quickly told me it would be 22 minutes they only had 2 wings and a breast. My daughter wanted this I told her it was old the last time I went. I called to complain and get a refund no answer.

The guy taking my order said they don’t carry spicy tenders but they can give me the spicy packet, I said sure that fine when I got to the window to pay I asked for 6 and they charged me for 4 of them. Nothing but rude people work here. Went around 730 and they were out of some food already. Plus the food is not all that great the tenders looked raw. The mashed potatoes had a weird taste. I guess if you want the good stuff and the nice friendly staff go during lunch time.

Went for lunch today around 11:15 and got a combo meal. One of the worse experiences ever at a chicken place. Waited forever and received cold chicken, mashed potatoes were hard and cold as well, biscuit was still partially raw and the coke didn't taste carbonated. Won't be back anytime soon! Update 7/18/2021 Came back thinking they would be better. Nothing worse 🥶 potatoes and gravy and an uncooked biscuit.

It's noon you would think food would be hot!! Just in case when I ordered, I asked for fresh food. Get to the window to get food, and of course, none of it is fresh or even warm. I literally asked the manager to touch the food so she could see for herself. All she said was we just dropped strips (but they were old), and if you want to wait, I can drop strips. I asked for everything fresh when ordering, so I didn't have to get out and bring everything back in. The manager Rosanna did not care one bit what I was talking about. Customer service was a 0, and I'm being nice. Keep driving!!!

I had ordered a 6 pc catfish, a 2 pc catfish, and a kids meal with chicken strips. Instead I recieved a 5 pc chicken strip (not sure if that's an amount on the menu), another 3 pc chicken strip (which I also doubt is on the menu), and a 3 pc catfish that I am sure isn't a menu option. When I had gotten to the drive thru window, they had given me an incorrect drink (asking for sprite and a red liquid peeking thru the lid) and they made it right. I then waited 15 minutes only to go right back in and get a refund, they were polite about the refund but that doesn't make much of a difference in my eyes. I haven't been here in atleast 3 years and I'll be sure to steer clear in the future. Thanks for the free drinks!

Order through online with curbside pickup for 12 pc family meal mix chicken, I paid the extra to get both of my sides upgraded to corn nuggets I arrived at the location to pick up and was told that they ran out of corn nuggets, so I was forced to downgrade my side to mashed potatoes. Asked them since I paid the extra for the premium side, how would I be refunded. The staff told me the sides were the same price which was not the case(I paid a total of 4 dollars to upgrade both of my sides) Came home, opened the box and only found 1 side as opposed to the two sides for my family meal. Also instead of the mix chicken, I only got fried chickens. So not only did I not get my $4 back, I also didn't get the proper order I was supposed to get. I feel scammed

1) the food isn't worth the price tag. Okra is always burnt, chicken isn't worth it when they serve it old and chewy. I hate it every time my kids convince me to go her. 2) isn't trapping the stray cats around the restaurant and driving them into a new town or rural location and DUMPING them illegal? Which is what the owner, Mallory and her brother are allegedly doing, even though there are TNR volunteers attempting to work with them to help the cats, not make them someone else's problem or coyote fodder. I will never eat here again because of #2.

I went through the drive thru on 8/12 at about 4:05 pm. I ordered two chicken sandwich meals with corn nuggets instead of fries. I was told they only had one chicken patty and they didn’t have anymore to cook by a younger- sounding male. In place of the second sandwich I ordered chicken tenders. What I received was chicken-jerky between two soft buns. This chicken was so hard, dry and disgusting, I had to spit it out. I wouldn’t even feed this garbage to another life form. I know there’s no way the genius who assembled this thing DID not notice it. We also didn’t get our corn nuggets. To be as fair as possible, the tenders were hot and fresh. I would’ve gone back but we’re from out of town, and by the time I realized it, it was too late to turn around as we were pressed for time. I tried calling several times, but “surprisingly” nobody answers the phone. NEVER AGAIN.
