Biergarden is hands down one of the best spots in Encinitas for a relaxed, yet vibrant vibe. The outdoor patio is perfect for enjoying coastal weather, and their rotating beer list never disappoints — always something new and local to try. The food is surprisingly great for a beer-focused place; I highly recommend the crispy brussels sprouts and their burgers. The service is friendly and fast, and it’s a solid spot whether you’re with friends or just want a solo afternoon beer. Definitely a go-to in downtown Encinitas!
Awesome little restaurant to sit down, watch some sports and have drinks! Prices are fair and the portions on some of the plates are exceptional. Had the steak nachos one visit and the chicken sandwhich the next and was very impressed. Really worth going for almost any occasion, with other neat spots nearby.
Great food and beer selection. Fun place to watch a game!
I may be biased because I love everything Encinitas, but this was a lovely solo stop. I got the brussels and a bloody mary and both were delicious. Quickly and friendly staff, great location. Hope to be back soon.
Good food but a bit pricey!
Absolutely amazing wait staff and the food was out in minutes when me and my family and I had to go quickly. The Brussel sprouts were a must-have, super crunchy and sweet. Thank you so much to the amazing waitstaff!!
Our server was amazing! Hands down knowledgeable and sweet. The hostess was really nice. I do highly suggest maybe having 2 or 3 at a time for a "holiday rush" for less stress of the staff members. However there are 2 servers (one servings drinks) and then a busser who was completely rude. Nearly ran my son over with plates when we were in the clear and raced past us. I didn't want to dock the stars because the food and our server made the experience worth it. But highly suggest everyone else to be aware of there surroundings, and slow down when you see families passing threw for the restroom.
Great spot to grab a bite in downtown Encinitas! The atmosphere is iconic to what a Southern California beach town should be. Seating both inside and outside along the sidewalk and street. The food is amazing, highly recommend the Tri tip sandwich! The staff is super friendly and quick with service. Also a great place to grab drinks anytime day or night.
The food here was EXCELLENT, I can't wait to go again! Dog friendly patio as well.
This place is fantastic. Great food, awesome service and super good beer selection. Really good happy hour (from a Canadian perspective) and the tacos during happy hour on taco Tuesday were great (from a Canadian perspective). Also has a kids menu which makes it a great stop on family vacations. I would return in a heart beat and recommend it to friends!
This is my happy place. Excellent food excellent service ,excellent local beer selection. Top notch ingredients and the most laid-back atmosphere you could ask for. While offering up a very tasty beef patty for our fur baby amongst other things. Anytime I head to San Diego , I make sure that I stop here, it’s a must have local gem.
Such a fun and lively environment! Loved the food too.
Been here for the first time and it didn't disappoint, the food was really good 👍
Excellent brunch spot! The brunch menu itself if not extensive, but every single thing on it is great. French toast, fried chicken, breakfast burrito, eggs Benedict, all top tier!
The Tennessee Hot Chicken Sandwich with truffle fries was really good. I added avocado to cool it down a little and devoured it. The waitress said that was one of their most popular dishes and I see why. I sat on the back patio, the front patio was a bit loud with street noise and loud music so if you want a quiet outdoor spot ask to sit on the back patio.
Vibe: nice vibe with amazing lighting and ambiance, all together, it’s charming:) Service (quality/response): during the visit to The Bier Garden, we were helped by A most attentive and amazing person “Sydney” she we above and beyond and took care of our needs , we left very satisfied:) , thank you Sydney !. Food: we tried the BG Burger and we loved it , great taste and combination of flavors. Thank you The Bier Garden !
I only sit at the bar when I come here. Vibes good, service good. I wish they rotated more taps to showcase all of the awesome craft beer in SD. If I were a regular here, I'd get bored of the same few hazy IPAs. I had food for the first time today. I got the baby back ribs and they were definitely FALL OFF THE BONE category. The sauce was good. Sweet, but a little savory. I am a huge rib snob, and I'd order these again. The pic I included isn't beautiful, but I wanted to show case how tender the ribs were.
I can't believe I waited SO LONG to go here! This place is incredible. Excellent drink selection (Pro Tip! The bloody Mary's come with a beer chaser of your choice). The food all sounded good and every bite I tried was amazing. I'm planning a return visit soon to try more items from their menu. When a place puts the chef's name on the menu, you know it's gotta be bomb.
Wow! What a place. Picked Bier Garden at random for a meet with friend and was completely overwhelmed by the food service and ambience. First I highly recommend the “Doctor Strangelove” cocktail - refreshing, well balanced and an excellent starter. Second kudos to the fish&chips, served hot and fresh with a generous portion of seasoned fries. Excellent. Initially we though the overall noise level was somewhat elevated but in time it was not disruptive to our conversations. We arrived at 2:30, later than usual for a lunch but we were seated immediately. The restaurant was hopping but not crowded and we had a choice for inside or out seating. Being an unusual “rainy” SoCal day we opted for inside. This place would be awesome (to sit outside) on a “regular” day (70-80 degree SoCal day) just not today. Service was was quick, accurate and friendly. The staff is excellent and the food and drinks are memorable. I’d highly recommend the Bier Garden to everyone.
Today's adventure took me up the coast to Encinitas to try a place that I've been meaning to check out. The Bier Garden is a short 4 minute walk from the transit station. Plenty of outdoor seating as well as a very spacious bar/restaurant area indoors. I was greeted upon arrival and immediately sat. I decided to sit on the outdoor patio since it was a beautiful day. Decided to order the balsamic glazed Brussel sprouts with goat cheese plus 2 fish tacos that were dressed with red cabbage, some salsa and a drizzle of Chipotle aoli. Everything was fresh and the flavor blend of both the Brussel sprouts and the fish combination were super. Added a glass of cabernet and it was a perfect lunch. Portions were more that adequate. Moderately priced. The wait staff were great, and checked back regularly. Awesome visit.
Our server was phenomenal! The food was great too (although a little pricey). If you get the waffle fries, ask for a side of the nacho cheese. You will NOT be disappointed. The salmon burger was good once you got to the greens, but the salmon by itself was lacking in flavor. Good experience overall!
It’s rare to find a waitress/waiter that you notice as being outstanding. Alicia was attentive, helpful and mindful of all of her customers. We ordered brisket tacos that were so delicious and filling that we ended up taking the crack steak sandwich to go. Excellent beer selection too. We sat outside to enjoy the beautiful day.
Stop in for a drink after training on MCRD heading back to Camp Pendleton. We got greeted and seated with a smile and drinks within 5 min. The Owner Dave was onsite this day and was making the rounds and showing his appreciation for the customers coming in. We had a few drinks that were mixed perfectly and some ribs and conbread pictured below. These ribs we falling off the bone and just amazing. If you are in Encinitas you need to stop in and try them. They are a locals favorite and have been for for 10 yrs.
Good beer, food, & a bumping atmosphere - in refreshing contrast to the peaceful beach town of Encinitas. Loved that it has plenty of TV’s for the games, that’s visible with both indoor and outdoor seating. Easy to get to and all around seamless experience for what you’d expect from an established Biergarden.
A lot of dog friendly seating with fantastic food. Service was incredibly quick from beginning to end.
INSANE short rib nachos. The mango salsa was incredible, the short ribs melted in my mouth, the cheese sauce was perfect. Basically the best nachos I’ve ever had. Wish I could have kissed the chef on the nose. SO GOOD.
A nice place to relax and enjoy a good meal. The staff made us feel welcome. I would definitely come back.
The French fries are to die for. The Texas BBQ hamburger will keep you going back. The patty is nice and think and the BBQ sauce is very nice. My favorite spot over here Back again. On my favorites list. Never disappoints
During COVID 2020 and the pandemic got to sit and dine at the Bier Garden and it was well worth the wait. Having a place with sidewalk dining and a large patio was great because they were still able to comfortably sit a lot of parties spaced out for our safety. The first time we dined there was on the patio and the second time was on the large patio. I love the quaint and cozy feel of the neighbourhood and the ambiance of the restaurant. Our servers both time despite being swamped were courteous and helpful and made fabulous recommendations. The menu is great and has such delicious and fresh items. Their patio is also dog friendly. Our baby girl, Princess Zelda, goes most places with us so venues have to be. They have an extensive beer list and a great drink selection, too. Haven't been back to restaurant since 2021 but | definitely need to especially since they made it through the pandemic.
Everything was excellent, no exaggeration. So impressed. Some of the best service we have ever had, our waitress name was Carolyn. She was amazing!! Drinks came out quick. Food came out fresh and hot (also pretty quickly, around 10-15 minutes) They put on a sports game we asked for nearly immediately. A must try place. 10/10
Amazing nachos! I mean, WOW!!!!! Incredibly delicious 😋 I'm not a nachos at a restaurant type but we tried them here and they are mouth watering 😋 service was Amazing, from the manager to our waiter and to the one who brought us our dessert. Not sure because it was my birthday but they were exceptional! You HAVE to check it out for yourselves. The fish tacos were not really there, I don't personally recommend them 😕 cheers 👍
Great service and great food. I ordered their signature BG burger which had blue cheese, caramelized onions, and bacon and it came with crinkle fries that are crispy and perfectly seasoned. The burger was just the right size, right amount of sauce, cooked 'medium' like I like it and it was on a brioche bun. My partner got the fish and chips with coleslaw. Mind you, he is picky and he finished it. They also have a nice selection of beers, local and imported. Fast and friendly service especially Steven with his cool nautical tattoos. They were bustling and you know people enjoy eating there. I will definitely go back. Highly recommended!
I have been here a few times now and I am always pleased with the service and the food. The atmosphere is a trendy surfer type and the food is a creative modern take on California cuisine. We had the calamari, ahi tartar and the Tennessee chicken sandwich and they all were amazing the artichoke dip was ok though.
Great outdoor atmosphere and beer selection. The prices are on the high side though with beers costing $9.00 each.
I was disappointed because I thought the portobello sandwich had meat and mushrooms. It is only mushroom, peppers and a sweet sauce. Not bad, but just a surprise for what i was actually craving at the time. Next time I will get the Salmon burger. The service was great, our waitress was amazing! Very delicious Bloody Mary options. My family enjoyed the wet burritos as well.
Really fun atmosphere and the service was okay but I’m not going to fault them because you could just tell they were short staffed at the time but It would have been nice if our waitress swung around a bit more. My wife enjoyed her burger and we enjoyed the truffle fries together but the buffalo wings were awful and that’s the only reason for 4 stars. They look amazing but are soooo flavorless and were not crispy in the slightest. They were the only reason we stopped in because I saw someone with them when we walked by. Other than that our experience was good. Plenty of seating indoors and out and have fun lighting and heat lamps for the outdoor area. I would still recommend regardless of the terrible wings.
Lovely outdoor space. Spinach artichoke dip with veggies was good. Lovely service. Great experience. Yes will return to try more of the menu
Honestly expected more German food but it’s alright. The lamb shawarma was delicious. Truffle fries might be the best I’ve had around San Diego. Cobb salad was good. Decent beer selection. Other drinks offered as well. More than just bar food. Indoor & outdoor seating. Forgot to take pictures of all the food. Prices were good too. Good quality. Good flavor. Our server, Austin, answered our questions, was kind & very attentive during a busy evening. Thank you!
Great place, great drinks! food is amazing! Kind of fair prices, could be a tad cheaper but excellent and worth it. We sat at the bar it was a busy Sunday, bar tenders weren't the friendliest in town hence the lost star. Felt a little like we were bugging just to order another round. I know it's because they are so rushed especially on a Sunday. I ordered a second beer and never got it then I ordered from another bartender. The one I never got was on my bill so I had that removed. I wish the bar was a bit bigger so they could have another worker in there to help. All in all was delicious. Parking sucks! There is underground paid parking across the street if you want more of an expense.
Service was wonderful. Food was just ok. The fries were delicious! However the Fig Burger was too sweet for a hamburger even though I asked the server if it was going to be very sweet. The Cardiff sandwich was lackluster. Not very much meat & the bread was hard as a rock. The ambience was nice inside. Don’t know if we’ll be back.
Food was disappointing for the price and portions are small. Drinks are good but it's loud and not great for hanging out. We (5) got sat at a table made for 4 so we were struggling, especially because the hostess didn't realize our first table was reserved. It was not even busy
The portions here have gotten smaller while prices have risen SKY HIGH. Service is great, especially Jessica. Atmosphere here is loud even without a game on the TV. Selection of local beers on tap.
We were excited for this place. We even walked around and waited for happy hour but while the service and atmosphere was good the food is way too expensive for what you’re getting. The food is not bad but it’s just alright, I feel like I could make it as good at the apartment. It feels like they try to give you the least amount of food for the highest price. I spent over 100 dollars and was still hungry. I think it’s the portion sizes that really bring it down for me because the service and atmosphere is actually pretty good.
Fine for beers (but no other drinks) and watching a game, and service is fine too, but food is awful, tables aren’t clean, silverware is dirty, just a great way to ruin your day if you were thinking you might get some decent bar food. Was better several years ago, but will never eat here again. And my mixed drink was awful, I had one sip and didn’t touch it after that. And trust me, I’m not a fussy person. Very disappointing they can’t do simple dishes remotely well.
$15 for 7 pretzel balls, some cheese sauce and mustard, absolute rip off. The pretzel used to be HUGE - a proper Bavarian style pretzel, now it appears they are using frozen balls reheated. Very disappointed, I feel slightly violated after paying that much to get so little. I hope you can do better next time.
Great atmosphere, inside and outside. Staff very attentive. Expected more from an $18 Quinoa salad. I usually don't eat that much but this dish left me hungry. It was a $0.50 cost to the restaurant, they could really have put a bit more on the plate and make it at $2 cost to them. I had to closely look to even find the quinoa in it and overall really was a huge waste of money. Looked around at other people's plates, i guess that's just how they do it - small portions overall for hefty prices.
Went for Trivia night and dinner on Wednesday… such a bust. The only star was rewarded to their Buffalo Cauliflower. But all food is tremendously overpriced. Never would I consume any food/beverages here. And the Trivia is super slow and the energy was as unalive as my appetite later that night. App also doesn’t work
Didn't get a chance to eat here as after waiting and looking a while for someone to seat us down for lunch, we waited at the front again and saw a man come out and still not acknowledging us, I said Hello He arrogantly said YES...What's up ?? We left to eat somewhere else.. I hope this is not the normal practice to greet customers there
I am genuinely never coming here again. This place has become WAY too expensive. I came here for lunch with 4 people. Only 1 person got 1 FOUNTAIN drink. No alcohol. 3 entrees and 1 appetizer were ordered. $100 total. A burger is $26. TWO fish tacos are $24. A sandwich is $24. Will never be coming here again.
