Absolutely fantastic dinner ... This was our second visit and the food is next level. Leak & potato soup with monkfish dumplings, pigs head patty, parsnips done 3 ways, roasted garlic tortellini with Spanish sausage, spotted duck with Brie & sarano ham, a very indulgent chocolate mouse with honey ice cream and finally almond macaroons... Ever dish was sublime ..(sorry chef if I've got some of the elements wrong) finally we were very well looked after by Grace & Robbie ... If I could ten stars I would ... A truly excellent evening 🙏🙏

Unaustentious, sincere offer. The food is outstanding, the hospitality friendly and informative, the atmosphere conducive to relaxed enjoyment of fine food and good company. Will probably be boasting about how we were lucky enough to eat here before they even got their Michelin stars

My husband and I (vegetarian) have been here 4 times now, following a recommendation from family. The food is fantastic, the staff are lovely and we love the relaxed vibe. We've gone for the alcoholic drinks flight as well as the non-alcoholic one, both of which are well worth it - and their regular drinks menu also has some great options, including their homemade kombucha. Our most recent visit on Saturday we took my best friend, who is Vegan with a nut allergy - not only could they accommodate this but her food was equally lovely, which having been out with her many times I can say is unfortunately not always the case. Cannot recommend more - especially the bread!

This restaurant is so good I almost want to give it 1 star so I can get a reservation more easily. Price: 30 pounds for a four course lunch menu of this quality is very reasonable. 25 pounds for the drinks pairing. Drinks: insane pairings, I had a 2/3 pint of incredible beer, a glass of amazing champagne-style english wine, an incredible cocktail and a super interesting rosé that I loved. Food: wowowowow I was taking photos but I missed the dessert because the food was so good I forgot. Particular highlights this week were the first course with homemade beef sausage and then the third course sauce (emulsion of soya and chicken stock) that if served in a pint glass would have found a happy home. Service: Best service experience you can get. Two brilliant waiters and dessert served by a lovely chef. They manage to be relaxed and willing to chat with all the tables whilst maintaining quick and efficient service. Overall, can't believe they haven't got at least one michelin star - way superior to most 1star places I've been to. If this restaurant was in paris it would be booked up for a year. P.S for all dietary requirements just say in advance and it'll be sorted. Served us quickly as mentioned I needed to get a train. PPS get the bread!!!

Atmosphere and location was excellent. The team are engaging knowledgeable and enthusiastic and what they are producing. It is well orchestrated and you are introduced to each course and the corresponding drink if you order the drinks flight. Outstanding experience, we will definitely revisit.

Consistently exceptional and attentive service which complements the perfectly relaxed atmosphere. Each element of the creative and ever-changing menu show off the highly skilled and thoughtful chefs working behind the scenes. The result is a breathtaking experience of experimental dishes each worthy of their own conversation. This is only complemented by the extensive, creative and inexpensive drinks flight. This is true fine dining with all the substance and none of the pomp. The homages to the history of the establishment scattered throughout the restaurant add to the strong sense of community. Prices are fair and reflect the quality of the food and the experience, and the thought and effort put into every dish and the impeccable service. We'll keep coming back!

We absolutely love Stage and keep returning for their creative, fresh, original, delicious lunch. It is such a good value for money and the guys really deserve a Michelin star at some point. A must visit in Exeter. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Phenomenal place, a real treat! My partner and I have been a fair few times and now make it a monthly treat. Robbie and the other guys are such fun. They're full of enthusiasm, have masses of energy and it shows how passionate they are in what they do. This is pure art with food. Explosive tastes and genius dishes. Combinations of food and tastes you'd never imagine, yet they do it and they get it so right. I love how they tell you about each individual dish they're serving you, it's so interesting. Each one really gets you buzzing. Prepare for your taste buds to come alive and kick you right up the *** I love that Stage is a small space, yet plentiful. The atmosphere is incredibly inviting and we love the interiors quirkiness and great vibes. When we get home we feel like we've literally just had a night in Barcelona or somewhere, and teleported home. That's something you don't get anywhere else. Stage just has that cosy unique feel. This place really is in a league of it's own. These guys are geniuses! This is now our go-to place to eat, and it's (luckily) so local to us. You honestly won't find better than this in Exeter, not a chance. And.....you'll never find better bread anywhere else! What a find 💎 Thanks to Robbie and all, for always making the night so special and so much fun. And massive compliments to the chefs! 🌟

Such a fabulous dinner at Stage! The entire team are so warm and genuinely friendly. It’s clear they are all passionate about what they do and really let the food shine. This creates a really wonderful atmosphere from the moment you arrive. Their low waste approach is incredible too; really enjoyed learning about some of their methods. The food itself is exceptional. Every dish was beautiful and tasted amazing. If you’re looking for a non-pretentious tasting menu but with all of the flair and flavour, come here!

Really impressed. Beautifully cooked and executed, every dish had a twist. Service was faultless, every dish accompanied with a full explanation. A rarity. Our only niggle? the seating was a little uncomfortable and the restaurant, certainly below the mezzanine, could do with a little extra warmth. Definitely be back though.

Omg. Had this as a present from my daughter. Such amazing food. Very friendly staff who explained everything about the menu options and the dishes that were served. Will definitely recommend and will definitely be returning.

Such a warm welcome to our first fine dining experience! From the moment we stepped in, the staff were smiley and attentive. We were looked after by Emily, Kate and Grace, all with perfect customer service. The chefs did such a great job and the food was so impressive with locally sourced and home grown ingredients. The surprise tasting menu was so fun with each course having a different story. Most importantly, they served the best bread I have ever eaten!

Stage delivers a tasting menu that feels thoughtful, exciting, and beautifully executed from start to finish. I had a vegan tasting menu. I let them know ahead of time. The food was exceptional the staff a delight the whole experience was great. The first incredible vegan dining experience I have had in Exeter in absolutely ages

Amazing food and great service. Was so refreshing to be served gluten free food that was the same as what my partner was given. And substituting the dishes so my partner was given a noodle dish and mine was revamped into a salad. My partner was also vegetarian and was served great food without meat substitutes and just lots of yummy vegetables. Amazing price for value and would definitely go back every season to try there new menus.

And the atmosphere created by the best people one can ask for, hats off! You go above and beyond in the most simplistic way possible and that is not an easy job. We had the set lunch menu. Delicious. Small but interesting wine list, which is helped by the staff for suggestions to lair with lunch. Staff helpful, friendly, passionate and knowledgable. A great surprise package in Exeter.

From when arrived knew in for a treat. Lovely and personal welcome. Intimate setting. Obviously great joy and pride by all the guys. Every morsel spectacular. Was bought lunch as a Xmas gift. Its my birthday soon...I know what I would like! The bread with the parsnip soup was exquisite!

The best in Exeter. Went there for lunch on Sat and book for dinner right away on Wed. Morgan, Robbie and team are super friendly and did amazing job explaining us about each dish. Food are absolutely amazing. Will come back again.

Absolutely love what these guys are doing - so great to see! Lots of passion, chilled vibe and great food! New favourite place in Exeter, without a doubt. Looking forward to trying more of the food and drinks the innovative chef is coming up with next time 😃 Only slight piece of feedback is if you’re in the first sitting (as we were tonight) everything feels slightly rushed toward the end as the next guests are queuing outside. Difficult to avoid with small space and two sittings though, so totally understand and didn’t taint the evening at all.

Stunning. Light, fresh and great flavours. Opening course was incredible. Delicate tempura batter Edamame. Olive oil bread which was insane. Like a fried bread with picked vegetables and a smoke Butternut amd mayonnaise. The mackerel from Brixham was truly beautiful, bitter and smokey which was well suited with the acidity of the home grown tomatoes. The white sangiovese was impeccable. And the kambouch with apple pie moonshine was a really beautiful combination of flavours. The wien flight and lunch menu was a fantastic deal. The service was truly excellent in every way. I was so so happy with everything. Knowledge, friendly and energetic. Everybody was so friendly and I cannot wait to return for the evening menu.

Came in December for the set menu with wine flight. Amazing flavours and even better service. Staff are so passionate about what they do and it shows through the service and the food.

Wow, we loved this place, it's friendly from the moment we walked in and some very delicious, clever cooking. We found it inventive with an array of flavours that work perfectly together. I can't wait to return.

This is the most exceptional dinner experience I have ever experienced. The fusion and pairings of flavours/aromatic ingredients used are not only their own but so adventurous they will astound and excite you all at the same time. Their passion for their culinary skills became contagious as the staff went from each customer's table explaining not only what they were sampling but who, how and why these flavours/ingredients were combined. These mixologist of their ingredients are wizards in the world of cuisine. What a fabulous vibe and atmospheric venue. Can't wait to go back.

Superb independent small restaurant. Very friendly professional young team. We had a six course tasting menu, no menu chef's surprise. Each course interesting and delicious, beautifully presented. Good wine list including English wine. Highly recommend.

Sophisticated, scrumptious and intelligent cooking. All beautifully served (I avoid saying curated) in a lovely informal room in Magdalen Road. Top end quality. Expensive and yet an absolute bargain. We had the weekend six course lunch. Just perfect. Top Tip: You get what they make. Don't come with preconceptions. Tell them if you're vegan etc. The work rounds are works of art.

Stage is hands down one of our favourite places to eat in Exeter. Every dish is incredibly imaginative, beautifully presented, and absolutely packed with flavour. You can really taste the quality and care that goes into each plate — all the ingredients are locally sourced, and it makes such a difference. The team clearly love what they do, and it shows in everything from the creative menu to the warm, knowledgeable service. Every visit feels like a new experience, and we always leave already looking forward to the next one. If you appreciate bold flavours, seasonal produce, and a touch of theatre in your food, Stage is an absolute must.

Fantastic tasting selection, we shared the drinks flight and alcohol free flight between us to get the full experience. Big thanks to K, G&G for the great service and to the kitchen for the beautiful food and accommodations made. Everything on the plate has a clear purpose in it's contribution to the flavour and the drinks flights both pair well with the courses. We came away from Stage feeling luxuriously well fed and watered but not uncomfortably so. TL:DR Great food, great staff, great experience.

Really loved our lunch at Stage - a gorgeous 6 course surprise taster - all were lovely, but the mussels in kimchi broth was truly outstanding. Great staff, fabulous atmosphere - a really special lunch. An unexpected joy.

Lunch on Saturday was as ever delicious, with particular standouts the scallop and the beef. And of course we had the flight, it would be rude not to. Please don't ever stop what you're doing!

We had the 6 course menu and it was fantastic at £55 a head. On the face of it it seems expensive but for a once in a blue moon treat this is worth it. There was real variety in the dishes and we left the restaurant replete. The service was good, informative and attentive. We did not take the drinks package as we were driving. The only slight criticism was that the music was quite loud where we sat. It did not ruin conversation but it could have been a tad quieter to add to the atmosphere rather than dominate it. A great little restaurant and a real positive for Exeter.

Nice little bistro. The tasting menu was nice, some plates were out of this world and some others were just ok. All were beautifully presented plates. The homemade cloud bread was divine, as was the French onion soup! Staff were very friendly.

I have mixed feelings about the Stage. The service was very good and the people were nice and friendly, explaining everything they were serving. I also liked that they make their own products, like bread and beer. We all had wine, apart from one of us, but they offered a glass of beer to my friend to try, which was a nice gesture. The food was very unusual flavours, but out of the 6 courses, the first 2 were really good, the other 2 were OK and the main one, which was ramen with beef, was tasteless and the beef very hard to chew. I liked the dessert, but it was very small, like everything. We liked the homemade bread though. Also the place wasn't particularly tasteful considering they offer expensive gourmet food. If the price was normal, I would go back to try a different menu. But for £55 pounds, I had higher expectations to be honest.
