My husband and I were passing through downtown Fairfield and wanted some comfort food for lunch, so we checked out Ryebird! We went pretty close to their opening, so it was really laid back. The one man working the dining room did a great job of staying attentive to us and a few other tables that ended up coming in. Great drinks and quality comfort food. The cheesy bread service was a favorite of ours, and we really enjoyed the mac and cheese too! They did an excellent job on the chicken pot pie. Exactly what we were looking for on a cold winter day!

Amazing dinner. Started with house -made jalapeno tequila margarita made by Tom the bartender. Each sip enhanced by an agave nectar and tajin rim. Delic!! Started with Gorgonzola wedge salad and followed with the double smash-burger and the hot-house chicken sandwich made for a great share with my husband! Fries were awesome. For desert we had espresso martini shots and the apple crumble special. Soooo good! Well done Tom, Leo & Navon!! Took great care of us.

Ryebird has officially raised the bar. The smash burger is on a whole different level—perfectly crispy edges, juicy center, and stacked with flavor in every bite. You can feel the care that goes into it, and it’s honestly one of the best burgers I’ve had anywhere. The garlic parmesan wings? Unreal. They’re crispy, coated generously in that rich, buttery garlic parmesan goodness, and somehow stay juicy on the inside. If you love wings, these are a must. They don’t just hit the spot—they dominate it. And don’t even get me started on the fries—hot, golden, and seasoned just right. They’re the kind of fries you keep eating even when you’re full. The perfect sidekick to an already perfect meal. Ryebird is doing everything right. If you haven’t been yet… go. Immediately.

I walked in expecting “good,” but the salmon alone made it memorable. Perfectly cooked, great flavor, zero shortcuts. You can tell they care about what hits the plate. The fries? Crispy, salty, and impossible to stop picking at. The kind you keep eating even while saying “last one.” Yeah… good luck with that. And whoever’s behind the bar knows what they’re doing — the Aperol Spritz was clean, refreshing, and actually mixed like someone’s had more than one before. Not flat, not watered down — just solid. On top of that, the music hits the right vibe — not annoying, not background noise, just good tracks that make the whole place feel alive. Ryebird doesn't try too hard — it just works. Good food, good drinks, good soundtrack. Exactly the kind of place you end up staying longer than you planned.

Perfect spot for a summer Friday happy hour! Service was fantastic. We initially went for the drinks, and the ones we had were decent (margarita was pretty tart for my taste—and I am someone who generally likes tart/not overly sweet drinks). But the food knocked it out of the park. The house made sauces (cilantro something and a ranch) were delicious with fries and roasted chicken. And the seafood linguine with lemon butter sauce was divine. Our waiter suggested the s'mores ice cream for dessert, and that was excellent as well. Will definitely be back!

Phenomenal food, wonderful drinks, amazing atmosphere, and some of the friendliest staff around. Highly recommend Ryebird for anyone who’s looking for a nice meal or a few drinks with friends. Looking forward to the next time I come back!

Stopped in from out of town and grabbed a few bar snacks that were delicious. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere hits the ideal combination of modern and cozy.

Overall great experience. Food was delicious and well cooked. They were overall busy and service was slower but it was a beautiful night so we didn’t mind.

We stumbled on a surprise here. This is a great local joint, but also a destination worth finding. If they’re serving the pot pie, you have to order it!

Let me just say Ryebird is a really cool spot and I’m so glad they opened up here in such a great location. The food is so good, me and my friends wanted to try a bunch from the menu and it was all amazing. From the fried chicken, to the salads, pasta, and fish they really do have just about everything. They also have a big assortment of unique apps which are perfect for sharing (try the taquitos you won’t regret it). Aside from the food, there’s just a really upbeat vibe here. There’s good options for indoor and outdoor seating which I honestly cannot decide which I like more. I’ll definitely be back as I can’t say enough about how good of an experience my time at Ryebird was!

First time at Ryebird and ate outside while listening to music. Great vibe. Hostess and wait staff were young but all so friendly and polite. Our food was tasty and came out quickly. Will definitely go back.

Came here for the happy hour and loved the wine. We were able to sit anywhere in the restaurant which is not always the case in Fairfield. Had the taquitos as a side and they were great! Highly recommend the frozen drinks as well. Staff was polite and accommodating. Overall great experience for my first time at Ryebird.

Ryebird is one of the coolest new spots in Fairfield. They have a great ambiance and a bar that looks very good. I left just before happy hour started but I will definitely be returning soon to try their drinks. I really enjoyed the food but the French fries and the dipping sauce that came with the fries were great.

Ryebird was great! The food was super yummy and the service was really good. I loved everything I tried and would definitely go back.

Was attending a show at SHU Theater and stopped in before. The owner and staff were all very welcoming, and they offer a great Happy Hour drinks menu. I didn’t eat so can’t speak about the food. This will be my go to spot when I’m in town to see a show!

They were really busy but took great care of us! Our waiter really helped us thru the menu. They use a lot of local produce and products. I had a frozen mango drink (not too sweet) and my husband had one of their house old-fashioneds. For the price, the food was the best we've had in a long time. The smashburger with cheese was huge and the Caeser salad with shrimp added was enough for dinner and lunch. Enjoyed the playlist and noticed they are really into a curated vibe. 10/10 recommend and can't wait to go back!

It is refreshing to know a place like Ryebird exists. The prime rib dinner tastes like it was made in your grandmother’s kitchen. The blood orange margarita had the perfect balance of tangy and sweet and the apple crisp and ice cream sundaes were a perfect ending to a delightful meal. It’s also the first time I’ve gone out to dinner for cheaper than if I had grocery shopped. Their vinyl record selection created a much better atmosphere than my house too!

Jonathon the Maitre D' was fantastic. It was a super busy night and he jumped in to take care of us given our waiter was handling a large party

Went here with a friend of mine and we loved the cocktails (and great prices!). We had the chicken pot pie and a Caesar salad- Both amazing. Good vibe overall. The music and lighting was great. I'll definitely be going back this week with more friends.

I’ve ate at Ryebird a few times now and every time it’s been super good food, polite staff and great ambiance. Really suggest it for locals or anyone visiting Fairfield. Very quick access to the train station and great location next to the Community Theatre

Loved the lunch here. We sat inside but they had the accordion doors open, so it had this great inside/outside feel to the restaurant. Not to mention the food and drink selection was amazing!

I had a double smasher and it was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. It was delicious and had the taste of smoked meat with it. The hothouse was also delicious I couldn’t put the food down. And the device was impeccable

Just had another great meal at Ryebird—This was my third time there, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite spots in town. The food is consistently great. Everything we ordered feels thoughtful without being overdone, and the flavors are always spot-on. The service is also fantastic and friendly. I also love that they have a ton of outdoor seating... it was great to eat outside and most importantly we never felt rushed. We will be back soon!

First time here with my husband and son. Husband ordered roast chicken, son ordered seafood linguine, and I ordered the pork chop off the Specials menu. We each let out an “Mmmm!” With our first bites. To.die.for. Will definitely come back again and again!

My Wife and I wanted to try this place for some time and so we finally tried it today 8/24/25. 1 pm. The palce was amazing. customer service was the best which is the most importing thing we look for. From the start every one was so friendly, from the Owner Frank to the bartender Gabby, yes I spell it with 2 b 's although she told me its only one b. lol . Frank knows its stuff from one one the best old fashioned i have had to maybe one of the best spicy margerita my wife had. food was also amazing, the jazz music in the background just add to our experience there. We will def be back there soon. RW.

First time customer but will be back! Sunday evening family meal. My daughters (5&7) shared the chicken pot pie and cleaned the plate, the crust was crisp and buttery with succulent chicken. I had the Hot House chicken sandwich, spicy and delicious, the chicken actually has flavor compared to the majority of chicken in restaurants these days. My husband had the roast half chicken and cleaned the plate too. All day happy hour on Sunday was great addition with beer, wine and cocktails. Friendly staff and attentive service, will definitely be back again.

We had recently had the pleasure of dining at Ryebird and I can confidently say it was an overall great experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting. The service was exceptional with attention to detail including frequent visits by the owner, Frank. The menu offered a great selection of comfort food dishes, each thoughtfully crafted. We opted for the roasted chicken which was a perfect blend of flavors and textures. We enjoyed the craft cocktails which were also unique and flavorful. The berry crumble desert was the perfect sweet ending to an already incredible meal. Overall, I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great local experience. Very reasonably priced and great value! We will definitely return.

This restaurant was such a nice hidden gem! We had the caesar salad, fries and an Aperol Spritz, and they were great! Highly recommend!

Rye Bird is a standout gem. Every bite is packed with bold, unforgettable flavor, from their perfectly seasoned rotisserie chicken to the vibrant sides and creative salads. The menu strikes the ideal balance between comforting classics and inspired twists, and everything tastes fresh, elevated, and thoughtfully prepared. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service is friendly and attentive. A must visit for anyone craving delicious, high quality comfort food done right.

I stopped by Ryebird and was blown away by how good everything was. The smash burger is easily one of the best I’ve had—perfectly crispy edges, juicy center, and a flavor that hits the second you take a bite. The bun was soft but sturdy, and the toppings were spot-on without overwhelming the meat. The real surprise standout was the bacon-crusted shrimp. Absolutely addictive. The shrimp were cooked just right, and that smoky bacon crust gave it a perfect crunch and tons of flavor. It’s one of those dishes you keep thinking about after you leave. Great service, clean space, and food that feels crafted rather than thrown together. Definitely coming back. Highly recommend!

I had the best time at Ryebird! The mango mojito was absolutely delicious, and honestly one of the best cocktails I’ve had in a while! I followed it with their Caesar salad, which was so fresh and flavorful, and then tried the mac and cheese, which was rich, creamy, and totally comforting. Everything tasted amazing, and the whole vibe of the place just made the experience even better. Can’t wait to go back!

Quick story - I was involved in a show at the nearby Fairfield Theater Company, with which Ryebird has a partnership, and was rushing to grab a bite before showtime. I misjudged my timing, as the restaurant was busy and full of energy. In a slight panic I tried to cancel my order and leave- the owner came by and offered me not only my delicious meal but a hot tea to go, free of charge. I’ll return with my family for a proper reservation but this is kind of gracious community-mindedness that makes a restaurant successful.

A new place in town, with a great vibe, bar and food. Been here a few times now. For drinks and happy hour, and dinner, and so far loving everything. The drink selection is great, the owner/manager and the hosts are all super lovely, and the food is fantastic. Quickly becoming one of our regular go to places.

Ok experience. Food was good portions small. Daughter got chicken fingers fries. Came with 2 small chicken strips. Pork chop special read mashed sweet potatoes came with white potatoes. Water on table served warm with no ice, one glass had a small bug floating in it.

Dined before music event at FTC. Staff extremely friendly, waitstaff attentive. Food was good, nothing spectacular. Two of the entrees were fairly small given the price. Happy Hour specials a plus.

Excellent food on a Sat nite, including the service (evenly paced). Had chicken soup-amazing, the organic fried chicken plate was fantastic, the smashburger and shoestring fries were good (although both too salty). A great mix of cocktail drinks available and beers (no tap). Lively atmosphere...host is accommodating.

Food was decent, fries and the salmon were fantastic. Definitely more of a drinking spot, Hank the bartender knows what he’s doing. Rich yet smooth expresso martinis and his knowledge on whiskey is unbelievable. Only coming back when he’s there

Absolutely DO NOT ORDER TAKE OUT, The staff is wonderful ordering process is nice although I will admit they don’t usually answer the phone. Issue 1- we got there in 30 minutes, which was the direction they gave us, but the food was pretty soggy by the time we got home the containers don’t really have any vent holes so all of it it became soggy Issue 2- my buffalo chicken wings had to be put in the air fryer. They were basically sludge on the outside. Issue 3- The cheese bread that we ordered wasn’t fully baked it had that almost Play-Doh like texture of bread that hasn’t finished cooking, and it tasted very yeasty/ i’ve made that mistake before when baking in my own home so I can definitely recognize the signs. Issue 4- The Caesar salad I ordered for $14 had a solid cup of lettuce in it insane. (I’m 5,1 so my hand is SMALL I wear a size 5 ring for perspective) And for some reason, it didn’t taste like Cesar? It was pre-tossed so due to the container it was in, the lettuce became mega soggy, and because there wasn’t enough dressing, it tasted bitter and like only lettuce since they didn’t include extra dressing on the side. Maybe the food is better in person! honestly because of the price I’m afraid to take another chance, Maybe they Just put it in a really awful container. You need containers that allow steam to escape, otherwise it steams the food = soggy . I don’t know there’s lots of competition in Fairfield they wont catch me again thats for sure. around 85-90 bucks for 3ppl, Nice staff!!! :)

Place was extremely small..waiter gave us our food and we had to wait forever for our sodas...food was ok..nothing special...would I go again?..absolutely not.

J

The food was okay, the fried chicken was cooked fine just didn't have any true flavor, maybe some herb mixture in the batter may have helped? I'm not a chef, but at least there was additional sauce to add flavor to it. The service was excellent!

S

Vibe, decor, music, all great. Service is fine enough. Bathroom faucet had no water. Chicken caesar salads are noticeably overpriced for the portion size and quality. Chicken had great flavor but was chewy, and there just wasn’t much to the salad. Old Post Tavern (next door) does an absolutely phenomenal chicken Caesar salad that’s a great value for the portion size and quality of ingredients.

After living here a few years now I’m starting to believe that this location is cursed. I was really looking forward to this meal but must admit - the food was awful. It’s like they dump double the amount of salt on everything they serve. We did takeout and took recommendations from the owner/manager who seemed like good guys…which is the main reason the ranking isn’t lower. Typically when I have a bad meal I try to eat the food but for this meal I ended up throwing away 75% of the food. It was that bad. I’m sorry to say but unless they take some drastic measures this place won’t be around in 2026.

J
Janie Schmidt

I really wanted to like this place and I’m hoping it was an off night, but the food was sub par, expensive, and took forever. My daughter’s chicken fingers tasted like the freezer, she wouldn’t eat them, so I tried them, and they were awful. My mom’s burger was basic and over cooked, and while my chicken was good, the mashed potatoes were just a tiny scoop and lumpy. I hope their food and service improves, but I won’t be returning.

Best for happy hour nothing else. Seating very close together and was knocked a few times. The wait staff, although nice, seemed new to their job. Waited 10 minutes until someone came to our table. Luckily, we ordered our food the same time we ordered the drinks. Still waited quite a while for the drink. Ordered the hot house, which came cold, soggy and flavorless. Couldn't eat it. Took it off our bill but that still came to $68. For a burger, 1/2 chicken (3 small pieces of chicken), fries and one martini (happy hour price of $8.) Not worth it.

I’ll give them a shot again, but we are 0 for 2 so far. I ordered off their website on Sunday at 7:30p (says they close at 8pm). Order went through, but then they called and said they weren’t taking orders due to an event. They reimbursed etc. but was disappointed the website wasn’t accurate. Tonight went by as they advertised a prime special place was dead and they said they weren’t offering the special this wed but maybe next week. I’ll give them a shot at some point, but to misses in a couple days is disappointing.

K
Kristen Coleman

Bad food cute atmosphere. Mac and cheese taste like it’s been microwaved. They served us yellow lettuce. Served us an aperol spritz in a plastic cup SORRY we’re not at the grape. Crazy.
