Great service! Amazing food and drinks
A great vibe with a perfect environment to enjoy some drinks with company.
Great service. Brandon was very helpful
Love this place, wish it would stay open longer in the season!
Favorite bar in OBP. No expectations, good food, reasonable prices for fire island, and live music.
While in ocean bay park, be sure to visit schooners. Great vibe, great sunsets
The best bar on Earth. And the Pork Osso Bucco was fantastic!
a very long time ago I went there food was excellent service excellent 100% above and beyond
Cool atmosphere reggae Vibe on the weekend overlooking the Great South Bay
great vibes and kind staff. prices are high but that's Fire Island
Empty for a Thursday night happy hour. Hope buisness gets better Fire Island needs help but the rentals are still horrible Monday till Thursday 2000 for small place is to high for werkday.
Such a great beach vibe. Food had great portions and delicious. Will be returning definitely.
Good prices on drinks, great atmosphere and they do bingo every day where you can win a bike. Free bingo card with every drink
Good food. Great atmosphere.! Fire island prices. Expensive but worth it
Great place to hang out and get a quick drink. I love that I can beach my jetski right up front
1 of my favorites love the bar ,island ,people family go here if you need to enjoy your summer .
Great bar restaurant. Only place on Fire Island with a sand beach on the Bay.
The schooner was awesome. Great food, live music and right on the bay. Fantastic!
Great beach place to have a drink at. I boat all the way from Freeport.
We come here weekly by boat. Great food, Live Music and a nice staff.
Everything here is great except they have what looks like a sasquatch made from leather bartending some nights.
Good food good people and good music. Everyone's just there to have fun.
Great live music, Excellent atmosphere and agand a good group of eclectic people make for a really good time. Let's not forget the drinks they're really good!! Rocket Fuel!! Very good menu.
Best rocket fuels and burgers on the island. Also, Paul makes a delicious ribeye steak when it is on the menu. Excellent appetizers and decent drink prices during happy hour. And bingo for a bike on weekdays is a ton of fun.
Ok I have to say that I fell in love with Schooner Inn last year and the comment from Irwin could not be the furthest from the truth. The food is the best I have had at any beach bar. The french fries are amazing. Their fried calamari is great. Recently others at our party ordered various wraps and the lobster salad (which my father in law LOVED and he is extremely picky). Every time we have eaten there our food was fantastic much better than standard beach restaurant food. This is a family run restaurant and they encourage everyone to come and enjoy. You can boat up to the beach get out and walk right up to a table and sit down. I have always sat myself here so I find it hard to believe that they would not let anyone switch their table. It is a very relaxed beach casual place. That is what makes it amazing. They also do things for families with kids like sand toys on the beach or hermit crab races. A band plays most summer nights. It is a perfect place to have a drink or do lunch/dinner. We can not go anywhere else on the main land of long Island that even comes close to the atmosphere. We find ourselves wishing we took the ferry over to eat here again. Oh yeah another thing is it is directly next to the ferry. So convienent for those who want to just come for lunch and hang out a while. So as you can tell I love the Schooner Inn.
Lindsey is the bomb dot com. If your looking for a bartender that will actually give you the time of day, then come to schooners! I highly recommend this place. The pizza off to the side is also pretty dank.
This place is a really nice get away so close to home the music is great and the food is wow delicious. The ferry ride is a sight to endure and so relaxing I recommend highly to make time before summer is gone.
This has to be my fave venue on west fire Island. Great staff and owner, great food and band..plus a bike shop !!!! The vibe is all ages..low stress You can sit on the beach sand and sip a drink while bands perform
Awesome little beach bar. Live music, good food, attached to an ice cream place. You can pull right on up with your jet ski park it and head to lunch
Schooners is a great place to hang out and have some drinks and food food is excellent get the Prince Edward muscles can't go wrong with them ever you could park your boat right on the beach there they have they let you land for free
Had a good time. Bike 6.5 miles to get there, worth it.
Our group of 10 showed up for happy hour and decided to stay for dinner during the remnants of Ida last night. Despite the rain, we had a great time at happy hour. Good drinks, great bartending staff great vibe all around. They accommodated our group and the food was wonderful (nothing like some awesome clam chowder or lobster bisque during a storm), service was great. Real nice experience, thank you
Love this place. The bartenders and staff are great people. Fun to mingle with the locals and other vacationers. During the peak summer season they have raffles and bingo for a bike. Only ever got the wings here for food but they were solid.
So far I’ve had the stuffed flounder (one of the best I’ve had), stuffed clams, NE chowder, and the rocket fuel. Everything was so good. I love seafood and judge it very hard- it didn’t disappoint! I missed FI and haven’t been here since I was a young teen when we owned the original 86 east bayview! It’s nice to be back :’)
Schooners is a great place. The bar and restaurant are great and the service is amazing. Food is awesome. Bonus is the cute little beach behind it. Great place to watch the sun set or just hang in the evening.
Schooner Inn recently hosted my son's wedding. I cannot say enough about how well the two day event turned out. The first day the staff decorated and transformed the restaurant into a wedding venue. That evening we had the rehearsal dinner and the staff helped us put the finishing touches that needed to be done before the wedding day. Everyone at Schooner was so patience and had great attention to our details. On the day of the wedding, everyone, including the owner lent a hand in making the day very special for everyone. Our guests raved about the food, venue and staff. We could not have asked for a better Fire Island experience for a wedding. My recommendation - if you are looking to host a Fire Island event with a great water view and a vibe that can be both relaxed, yet still formal and professional - this is your place .
Bartenders Lindsey and Sammy are always Friendly. Food is always excellent. Server's are all great. Dj Jonny always keeping us entertained Its our favorite Fire Island bar.
Took jetski here. Food was good, great service. Boat/ jetski space is limited, managed to find a spot to beach our skis
Fire Island is, in and of itself, a spiritual experience. However, there is something extra special about Schooner Inn… …Someone once said, “Be aware…the closer you get to paradise, the more the hellions will want to pull you down.” In a lot of ways that folks who have been to FI can attest, it’s close to paradise AND it has its hellions… Good news, the staff at Schooner Inn keeps the hellions at bay. That way, you can just enjoy paradise and the lovely folk which find their way to the elephant-lined bar. …You could go somewhere else on FI, but you shouldn’t.
Great place. Stopped in for a drink (try the rocket fuel - pretty good!!), they had live music which was excellent and the food was all really good as well. What I really want to compliment though are the buffalo wings. I am a big wing guy and didn't expect much from basic chicken wings here but I was extremely impressed. The were your go to buffalo wings but they were cooked excellently - crispy but not too crispy - and the right amount of sauce, not covered and dripping in it. These were some of the best wings I've had in a long time great job schooner inn. All the other food (calamari, clam chowder etc) was great as well.
The Schooner Inn is a hidden gem, it's a beautiful restaurant with a private beautiful small beach overlooking the Great South Bay. They have delicious drinks, always music, a beautiful tropical bar with flowers for ambiance. There's a pizza place and they serve delicious food. Not gourmet, but very good none the less for a beach side restaurant The staff is great. Owners Paulie, Megan Dennis. Peter and Anne are first class and the bartenders always serve with a smile. Love this place. It's a must go to for anyone looking for an escape. They also rent water sports and bicycles, and have happy hours every week with a beach bike as a grand prize. You simply gotta go!!!!. (just a ferry ⛴ride away from Bayshore-Maple Ave Ocean Bay Park Terminal )
Great service, good food... Always a good time
Great place to hang out and chill! Just too many bugs last visit
Food was delicious, pricing is reasonable but service lacks.
Nice place with the water with good drinks and mostly fired food. Do come for the bingo at 8pm for a chance to win a bike!
Stopped in for cocktails. Didn't have any food. It's your typical fire island bar.
Great food, views and service, while it could be a little bit better, was fine for the venue. Good choice for a bit of fun, dance, music.
This place was good, when we went in, we weren't sure because it didn't look that great, but the crab cakes and chicken wings were great!
Bar looked a bit rough, but the pizza joint out front was fantastic. Good staff, delicious food.
Had a great afternoon lunch here. Mussles, oysters and bisque were very good.
Had a great time; check the inside bar if you can't get attention at the outside bar
Great calamari to go. Fab lobster quesadilla, lobster special. Never cheap on fire island. When staff is on, they're on. Best food in OBP. Hone your pick up lines, boys. No rookies here. Amateurs need not apply.
Rocket fuels aren’t the strongest but the food was decent. The atmosphere is fun and enjoyable.
Enjoy sitting outdoors on the dock with a cold beer and a seafood Captains platter. This place even has a small beach. Watch the ferries load and off load to the music of live bands and a DJ.
Lobster salad is an excellent dish. Save room for brownie ala mode. Atmosphere is what everyone loves about the place.
The food here is arguably the best one can find on Fire Island. Vibe is light and view of bay is great. Sure beats the noisiness of nearby Ocean Beach. It's off the beaten path, but generally worth it. One drawback, is the spaced out service. We were here for lunch in mid July and either our server was having a bad day or they just were not able to get it together for lunch in a relatively quiet restaurant.
Updating review. Food selection is typical for Fire Island. Taste and portion sizes have noticeably improved since last year. It is a very relaxing atmosphere to have a meal while admiring the views of the Great South Bay. There is plenty of covered outdoor seating. While there is a large bar area, the restaurant is suitable for any age group.
Food was good. Gets crowded. Server would not give me a separate check. Contemplated sitting directly next to my party. Then I could get my own bill. It's disappointing when you pay more because restaurant won't give you your own check.
Went there off-season so our experience was definitely subpar. Service was pretty gruff, we felt like we were disturbing the locals. You'd think they would be more welcoming when business has slowed dramatically. More than half the menu was unavailable so I just had the Schooner burger with blue cheese crumbles. It was good, not great. I imagine it's a better time experience during the summer, so YMMV.
Nice local bar with friendly staff. This was our 2nd visit and this time we had dinner. We started out with the sweet potato fries, they were so good! I ordered the fish of the day with plantains. The fish was cooked in a nice marsala sauce and was very flavorful, the plantains were cooked perfectly and were delicious. The portions were very generous. We were stuffed but still ordered the dessert, which was some stuffed cannoli with ice cream that was sugary and delicious. I would definitely return to eat here again on my next visit.
Food was ok, they should play more range of music. Kinda rowdy at night. But nice view
Nice place to hang out at...Bartender's very very slow..still had a good time
Overpriced Dive Bar - but this is the place to get your Fire Island Party Started! The food is typical bar grub with a beautiful view. Live music fills the dining area as you enjoy a cool one waiting for your food. Service is good, prices are average for FI but the atmosphere is perfect. Come as you are, bring the kids, sit on plastic and eat off paper plates. Dinnertime you get to play bingo with the opportunity to win a new bike! After dinner, the bar area turns up the music and you can dance and mingle while watching the last ferry depart to the mainland. What happens on Fire Island, stays on Fire Island....
Location is the best part Rest of the place is beat Eaten there twice, struck out twice
The view is the best part however I had the worst frozen margarita of my life here. Tasted disgusting and there was ground up bugs or leaves in my drink.
Take it or leave it... Not the best experience I've had at a beach bar/restaurant. The burger was actually pretty good and the beers were reasonably priced but I don't know if I'd go back.
It's okay. I like the view, the live music, and the drinks, but the food is just okay given the price you pay. Granted, all of Fire Island is expensive. That said, the broiled Captain's Platter was kind of bland. I guess I just would have expected a bit more from such a Fire Island hot spot. I'd go back for music and drinks, but probably not for dinner. The char-broiled oysters are worth a try as a snack.
So this place should be your basic drinking establishment. Don't look for good food here because you won't get it. And stay away from the crab cakes - they tried to pass off an old, baked clam filling fried in a beer batter, that was dreadfully overcooked, as a crab cake. Fish tacos with mango salsa - all you can taste is the overcooked, heavy beer batter, the fish and mango were indistinguishable. Mussels were good, with a properly cooked white wine and garlic sauce, but ask for light garlic. Guacamole and chips passable if they don't charge you extra for a proper amount of chips as they did when I ACCEPTED the bartender's offer of more bread ($5.00 , I later found out, for two small slices) to enjoy the rest of the mussels broth.
Nice atmosphere. Beautiful views. They were out of a bunch of menu items when we dined here, including coffee.
Tried to charge us a cover of $20 a person on a Saturday afternoon. Walked right away
Food is mediocre and expensive, and it's very loud with a younger drinking crowd.
There pizza is was very very bad it tasted as if they dropped a whole jar of salt in it pretty disappointed on the pizza and the price you pay for it plus the kid at the counter is kinda rude
Due to short staffing, service was extremely slow (drinks and dinner served at 8:40 for a 7:30 reservation.) Waitress was sweet but inexperienced. We were charged for drinks that we were told were going to be comped. (Non-alcoholic versions of the drinks were served) When we questioned the bill ...drinks that we didn't order (the non-alchololic versions) but received were added back on to the bill. Manager was there, but refused to come out to discuss and left the young waitress to fend for herself and defend his decision. We ended up just paying it so we could get on with our night. Food was tasty, hence the second star. Experience was dismal.
Went there for pizza, one slice is 4$! Crazy and it wasn't even all that. The service was horrible. The guys working that day were rude. They served me my food and the girl next to me grabbed my garlic knots thinking it was hers. I asked for one again since she took it & the guy responded "what you dropped it" & rolled his eyes. Like nah you didn't put what people ordered out so I'm stuck asking you for my food and unlike most people on the line I didn't drink so I was very aware of his sarcastic attitude. I personally wouldn't recommend
We went to Schooners for lobsters. They had none. Not crowded .Bar scene good.Ended up with some apps. Nice location. Staff friendly. They should have updated their website to let us know NO LOBSTER !
Food is terrible. Fast food quality is fast food at best but prices are very expensive. Portions are big - but what's the point if food is terrible. Service is bad (the owner did not want to move us to a table which is closer to the beach even though it got available by the time we sat). Only good thing about this place is location - right next to the ferry and it has its own small beach. Not worth the price though.
The food there is gas station worthy, the ownership is horrible and they should just go out of business because no one likes it
There was practically no cheese on the pizza, sauce tasted cheap, and the crust was dry and thick, even the pepperoni was off
Currently sitting at a table. Took them 30 minutes to sit us in an open restaurant. Been waiting another 25 for my drink order after I’ve been sat. Three tables have walked out already. Wondering if I’ll eat my hand or get a drink first?
Me and my family attempted to eat at Schooner’s this evening. The young lady at the outside desk was rude, unfriendly and unwelcoming. She did not speak, nor advise us of how long the wait would be. My daughter had asked the other young lady for a table. We sat and waited patiently and the young lady kindly ignored us. We understand we did not have a reservation, but if would be nice to say yes or no we can seat you or how long the wait would be. We eventually got frustrated and left. Went to Flynn’s ladies helped us right away Thank you
The manager kicked us out was really rude to us. We had a $500 bill and were ruddy told we had to leave at 8 pm. Besides the one mole rat looking manager guy theb rest of the service was good. The manager behind the bar was rude to us and should never work with people.
Horribly loud music, couldn't hear yourself think let alone have a conversation with someone. Food was sub par at best, no attentiveness from our server who was clearly over sat. However with an automatic gratuity charge, I dont think he cared much.
Some friends and I stopped at Schooner Inn this weekend for a quick bite to eat before heading over to Flynn's. Food was nothing to speak of except for the surprise I found halfway through my lunch- a half of a roach! After 10 minutes of looking for the waitress which according to another waiter, she was on her lunch break. She returned to my table, took my plate and said she would show the manager, another 5 minutes later, she returns to tell me that the manager had stepped out and she would be able to have another plate made up for me, I along with the rest of my group had lost our appetites. My meal was comped however, the rest of my group was charged full price even though no one could even think about eating after what had just happened. On our way out, we again asked to speak with a manager at which point 2 very rude bouncers told us we needed to leave and proceeded to literally push one of my friends out when he asked again to speak to a manager. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Schooner Inn and unless you like roaches in your food and rude staff, I would stay away!
Management couldn’t be worse if they tried. Beyond rude. Food is mediocre at best but is way overpriced. The views and atmosphere are nice but that’s about it.
Keep your expectations extremely low. Our table was placed directly in front of the band, making conversation impossible while being constantly bumped into by drunk people vaping—apparently the norm here. Service was terrible. Our appetizer arrived, and by the time we were done with it, the server finally appeared to ask if everything was okay. Soon after, our main courses came, but no silverware was offered. I asked several people, several times, waited 10 minutes, and finally had to go on the hunt myself for basic dining utensils. When I finally sat down to eat, a busboy dragged a garbage pail out to clean the table next to us. Dining literally beside trash—super gross. To make it worse, our server didn’t return for at least 30 minutes after the food was dropped. As a former hospitality worker, I can honestly say this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.
For 9yrs now my family and I rent a house on OBP. Our go to spot is schooners. We have multiple meals there a day aside from hanging at the bar and throughout the week. Last year my mom treated us to lunch and the waiter questioned his service, saying 20% tip wasn’t good enough. She was embarrassed and mortified. Last wk I rented on OB for the first time. Missing OBP we walked over for lunch. Specifically for clams and drinks. They were out,No biggie. I ordered a blk cherry white claw. Out. Again no biggie deal. I had to ask for silverware 3 times and straws multiple times, Whatever it is what it is. We ordered a Caesar salad with chicken, two kids meals And fish tacos. Two ultras and a virgin piña colada, and a virgin strawberry daiquiri. Leaving a 20% tip to a bill that was 156ish. When leaving the waitress approached, my husband, asking how her surface was and what she did wrong to deserve a tip like that. I was modified. How dare you question how much I leave you. We left a 20% tip because we were unhappy with the service multiple things we asked for were not there which was disappointing, but like I said it is a business and I get it. I am a business owner myself. I understand things happen. I don’t know if this is a way of them holding their business, but it’s wrong. I hope Paul and Meagen are aware that their servers are putting their customers on the spot and questioning their choice of tip. This is the second time it has happened in my family and I think it is wrong and it has put a bad taste in my mouth. when I go back next week not sure if I will be bringing my business back. This is a bad look on their business and I feel that they could do better. They need to understand that people come there. Renting for a week/days at a time and spend lots of money on top of it at their restaurant. They should not put any customer on the spot. A tip is left for a reason and no one should ever ask for more tip. In my business if I found out that someone ever did that and embarrassed me as a business owner, they would’ve been let go Immediately.
A group of eight people were there to celebrate a birthday on August 29, 2024. every one of us said the food was horrible. We ordered stuffed flounder which was dry and over cooked and tasteless. Roasted potatoes had so much garlic you couldn’t even eat it. The asparagus, which I always love were horrible. How can you mess up asparagus is beyond me. Another person got the scallops. The chef does not know how to cook. They try to be so fancy that they ruined everything either it’s overcooked or undercooked. My experience and the others with me all said they need a new chef the food is terrible. As far as the atmosphere, it’s beautiful to be on the water. That’s about it. The service wasn’t great either. We told the waitress that the lobster was tough and the other dinner’s were either tasteless or over cooked and dry. All she said was sorry. I will never go back there and I don’t think people should go there if they want a great meal. The prices are very high, which would be OK if you got good food. I don’t mind paying for excellent food, which that was NOT. CM ( Bayport NY
