Avaliações de Shanghai Zhen Gong Fu Flushing
Their soup dumplings are the best I’ve ever had. I’ve gone back many times for them and this place is always filled with locals and regulars. They offer amazing Chinese food that are reasonably priced too. The space is clean, lively, and the service is friendly and efficient.
Short reviews SJB>XLB here (go to other spots for Xiao Long Bao.) Order the Kao Fu. Order the Wuxi Ribs if you don't mind a mild sweetness. Excellent Lion's Head and Rice Cakes also. This is my favorite Shanghainese restaurant in the city, and my many visits have reaffirmed it time and again. I'm not going to write a long review, since I've been here a bunch of times, but I'll list some of my favorites. First off, I prefer their Sheng Jian Bao to their Xiao Long Bao/Soup Dumplings, as I think the former has a better texture and a more flavorful filling. I also find the skin a bit better in some spots, though I do like the large pork filling inside theirs. For cold dishes, the Kao Fu/marinated gluten is delicious, and they also make good versions of smoked fish, aromatic beef, and a pretty solid wine-marinated chicken. For larger plates, their take on Lion's Head Meatballs is excellent, along with the Wuxi Ribs and their Shanghainese Rice Cakes, which have a perfect mix of crispiness and a bit of chew (I will say the protein portion has shrunk, but that's happened everywhere.) The more broadly Chinese dishes, such as the Chicken and Eggplant in Garlic Sauce, Salted Fish, Tofu, and Chicken Casserole, as well as the Sauteed String Beans, are all solid. The Crispy Half Duck is alright, and they have a unique take on Noodles With Meat Sauce/Zhajiangmian, with much thicker noodles than the typical variant, while the soybean has a milder fermented flavor. This is an excellent Shanghainese spot. It's not my favorite for a few dishes, but the overall quality of most dishes is just better than most other spots. Would and will go back again and again.
Other customers have already captured what makes this place special. Every staff member offered friendliness and assistance. Get a few different plates to share. They're not stingy with portions and the salad tasted fresh. You can tell they truly care about customer happiness.
We love this place, the Xiao Long Bao is authentic and delicious, made on premises (i think, very fresh) and Uber juicy. Our favorite is the regular XLB, i also recommend their crab XLB, generous amounts of crab filling. We always enjoy our meals here and the food is served quickly. If you like spicy, try the three pepper chicken, we had it for the first time and it was a flavor and spice explosion. Our neighboring table ordered lobster that looked and smelled delicious, we're trying it on our next visit. This is a medium sized sit down spot, the wait staff are friendly and kind. Just be patient with them if they need a few extra moments to process in English.
My go-to spot for soup dumplings and homecooked style chinese food. The soup dumplings have thin/transparent skin where you can see the liquid of the soup. The service is also great and everyone is very friendly and nice. Not the fastest service but if you wan't fast food this place isn't it anyways. Great none the less!
These folks are thorough professionals who know the art and craft of running a restaurant. Great food, delicious. Vegetable dumplings, garlic and a mess of greens are perfect for me, and they have plenty of meat and fish type stuff of course. Intestines if you dig that Kind hearted and it’s my new go-to. Excellent!
I don't often review places but this spot is great. I was slightly worried when we walked in and the staff was amazingly friendly (atypical of your standard Chinese spot). Bantering with customers and laughing and giving out hugs, knowing customers' preferred seating. Super attentive and friendly. Food came out and was legit. Soup dumplings were hot and juicy, skin was thin but doesn't break, overall well seasoned. SJBs had crispy bottoms and fluffy tops, perfect texture. Rice cakes had wok hay and massive flavor. Salt Pepper Squid was hot and crispy, with well seared onions/peppers & deep fried shallots to top. Solid place. Will def go back and try their more Canto focused dishes next time (which looked delicious too).
really great place for Shanghainese food!! we found this place as our Airbnb was close by and decided to give it a try. hands down one of my favourite shanghai/chinese spots in town. the dumplings are definitely made with love and packed with flavour. i would recommend the xiao long bao and pan fried dumplings. these are 10/10! the shanghainese noodles are another must try. super flavourful and filling!
Absolutely delicious soup dumplings (xiaolongbao). I’ve been thinking about them ever since. Shrimp dumplings were also among the best I’ve ever had! I preferred the normal soup dumplings to the truffle flavored ones which were more expensive. But even so, it was a fun novelty to try and I haven’t seen truffle soup dumplings anywhere else.
I normally pride myself on being an easy going patron but when I first came into Shanghai Zhen Gong Fu, I was pretty moody. (Intense PMS + 3 small kids). Between hormones and yelling children, I was hot and cranky and really not at my best. Bill (our waiter) quickly seated us and offered to sit us directly under the air conditioner and even got a second fan to point at us. It was heaven. I apologized for my mood and thanked him but he told me there was no need to apologize and he was SO happy, funny and kind..and most of all, accommodating! :-) We ordered about 6 different things but ate them so fast I only had a chance to get a picture of a few. The food typically would take longer to come out but we had it at our table within a few minutes. It was awesome. The duck was SO crisp and the meat was all the way good through and my husband and I agreed that this restaurant serves the best Lo Mein and General Tso's chicken we've ever had in our 35+ years of life :-) It was a wonderful experience and amazing food. Our little kids loved everything as well which was a big win. The restrooms were also clean ;-) I always love that. It is a good reflection on the restaurant. We will definitely come back :-) Thanks for the great experience, Bill.
First of all I almost never write reviews online but this place deserve one! Hands down, legit the best soup dumplings in the Queens! I’ve tried plenty of soup dumplings from all over Flushing but this place got it perfect! The skin is soft, it’s very soupy and the broth is so delicious. The Shanghai fried rice cake was also very good, soft but not too soft and the best part was that you can tell that the chef take his/her time to made it because the flavor and sauce was absorbed into the rice cakes unlike other places where the flavor is just on the outer layer. The host and staffs are very experienced and friendly! The place itself is very clean and the seating areas are spacious. Overall, highly recommended and must try if you’re in the area! PS - There is free parking in the back!
finally giving this place a try after recs from coworkers alike. i got the shanghai rice cakes with shredded pork and shrimp. it also had sliced shiitake mushrooms, bok choy, and cabbage, all stir-fried in a glossy, dark sauce. it was piping hot and very flavorful. it's my first time having shanghai-style rice cakes and definitely won't be the last!
Nothing Fancy - Satisfying Solid Shanghainese Dishes - Our Go-to includes their XLB, Watercress Sautéed with Enoki Mushrooms, and Shrimp Pan-Fried Noodles - Welcoming and Kid Friendly Service - Wouldn’t Mind Coming Here Once A Week!
Hidden gem on Queens Blvd… food was delicious. Ordered more than we should’ve but we wanted to try a few different things, and we had leftovers… we ordered dumplings, General Tso’s chicken, tiny pork buns, fried rice & sesame noodles.. I gotta go back and try other things…
Haven't been back for a while but glad we did. Food was very tasty & good. Of course we had both types of SLB's, the scallion pancakes and 2 types of noodles. Everything was delicious. Portions average with decent prices. Service was very friendly & attentive. We will need to remember to return on a regular basis!
A no frills Chinese soup dumpling restaurant. Menu size and prices hint that it should be one of the better soup dumpling restaurants, but experience screams budget. Ordered standard pork soup dumpling, Pan fried dumplings, Shanghai lo-mein, these are standard items available at all soup dumpling restaurants. Pork soup dumpling was disappointment. The filling was loose and offered no bite texture to complement the wrapper. Pan fried dumpling very mediocre. Filling was slightly firmer, but skin was not crispy at all. Lo-mein didn't have much flavor, only impression I had was oily. The bill was 31(tax included), not terribly pricey or cheap, but the food was very disappointing. Not really bad, but disappointing given the current 4.5 rating. Given the high rating and the plain decor, I had expectations that it would compare to Yu garden or Nanxiang in food quality, but definitely no
