I’m from Frederick, but have lived out of state since 2011. I try to carve out time to stop by MC every or every other visit I make. Of all the places I’ve lived it’s probably the only place I can count on for cocktails, their bar menu is def one of the best I’ve seen and everything is crafted perfectly. Huge, amazing wine selection to die for. The guys in my family are big fans of their bourbon selection. The food has never been anything but amaze. Fave apps are the duck nachos, crabby deviled eggs, and scallops. I often go for the seasonal seafood pasta they have entree wise. I haven’t had their coconut pound cake, but I heard it’s got a cult following so I’m itching to get back to try it! I was skimming through some of the bad reviews and yes, sometimes it can get loud-and yes it’s a very loved restaurant that can get super busy and sometimes it’s a lot for the staff (who are human) and they might not be able to to get everything perfect every single visit (although, I’ve always been well taken care of). They’ve got a great team, great food, great drinks. On busy nights, give some grace like we all should be doing at all the restaurants we’re visiting.

Amazing food. The maple, pecan Old Fashioned was the sweetest old fashion I have ever had. The fried oysters Rockefeller were amazing. And the coconut pound cake at the end was something to behold. Trish and Savannah were superb hosts. I will definitely return for fun and great food.

We were in the area visiting our daughter and grandkids and wanted to go to dinner someplace special for our anniversary. After a quick google search, we decided to make a reservation at Monocacy Crossing, and we were so glad we did. Everything from the food to the service was wonderful!! We put on the reservation that it was our anniversary, and they had a nice little sign on the table for us and offered us a free dessert. We also ordered a second one as well because I love chocolate Raspberry and wanted to try the Truffle Cake. Both our steak dishes and the appetizer were also fabulous. We hope to return on our next visit to the area!!!

Went here for date night and it was very much worth the experience. One thing that was very nice is that we got a salad to share and they split it for us so we each got our own plate. Very dish we got was amazing but the scallops were by far the stand out dish that you need to get. The service was great the food was great the place doesn't seem like much from the outside but the inside has a great atmosphere.

My family and I had dinner here tonight. Drinks came out very quick and all very good. Appetizers came quick as well and were all delicious! Our entrees were all great! The steak filet was probably one of the best I have ever had. Service was perfect! A wonderful dining experience!

This place is in an unexpected place and is an absolute delight. The food is excellent and the prices are beyond reasonable. Indoor and outdoor seating, Sunday brunch. If you're in the area and want some really tasty dishes, check it out. And of you're not in the area--it's worth a trip.

Warm atmosphere that feels like a cozy country home. The wait staff are always friendly, attentive, and happy to make recommendations. The food selections change with the seasons, so there is always something new to try.

I ventured out during phase II during this pandemic for my first restaurant experience in over three months. Monacacy crossing never fails to provide unique dishes that are always prepared to perfection. We were greeted by the hostess who wore a facemask and escorted us to our outdoor seating where we were socially distanced from the others patrons. Our waitress wore a facemask and was very attentive and provided great service. We chose multiple dishes from the snacks and appetizer menu and each had an entree. I had the filet with a whipped blue cheese mousse. If you like blue cheese this is a must. The crab dip was delicious as with all of the other dishes. My wife had the dinner burger with jerk seasoning that was one of the best burgers I've tasted. Thank you Monocacy Crossing for the great dining experience during this difficult time.

If you’re more about food than photos, don’t miss Monocacy Crossing. Friendly local spot that has a straightforward menu, superb wine selection (at a digestible price point), and good-hearted staff. The food is honest, not too over-the-top, yet perfectly executed. From Burgers to the Cobb Salad or homemade Waffles, no one plate outshines another. Steak is always executed perfectly here! Always flavorful! We requested some of the grilled pita that comes with the crab dip, and it came out exactly like we wanted, crisped with olive oil and sea salt. I couldn’t believe I found a bottle of Chateauneuf priced under $100! That was reputable! That can still happen!? Amazing! The folks at Monocacy are not advertising this spot- and I can see why. It’s a neighborhood staple, and the super-regular guests speak to the hidden gem appeal of this cozy nook. I can’t wait to go again soon! The chop is next on my hit list!

Our server Trisha made our day!!! Super friendly and had great food suggestions. Low-Country Boil Shrimp & grits was amazing! For desert, their Red Velvet Cheesecake was perfectly paired with our Chocolate &/or Espresso Martini. Do not miss out on that Red Velvet Cheesecake!!!!

I hadn’t heard of this place until recently and decided to check out their food. The place is stunning with an outdoor patio. They have a bar where you can sit and eat as well. I had a limoncello no-jito as my drink and it was delicious! I ordered the filet mignon wrapped in bacon and I was very pleased. The steak was cooked to perfection and very tender. The dishes were very well plated and presented. I very much enjoyed the green beans and mashed potatoes that came with my steak. For dessert I recommend the canoli cheesecake, it was very delicious! I will be coming back!

Went for a birthday dinner and were very pleased! Our server Candice was kind, fun, and recommended the perfect cocktail for my tastes (try the pomegranate lemon drop!) I had the duck liver crostini with duck prosciutto - I had never even imagined duck prosciutto before, now I can’t imagine my life without it. The potato latkes with dill creme fraiche and house smoked salmon were all I dreamed and more. Who makes house smoked salmon anymore?! Delightful. Perfectly rounded off with red velvet cheesecake, all was going well until I, in my eternal foolishness, managed to leave my two heirloom rings in the bathroom!! What could have been a total disaster turned into a heartwarming example of human kindness as someone was honest and good enough to turn them in to the restaurant staff who strove to alert me and keep them safe until I could pick them up the next day. I thank the good samaritan and all the staff for the best birthday gift they could have given me! (And for reassuring me during my walk of shame)

We decided to go out for brunch after doing a 5K and showed up with no reservations. Was seated quickly and found it to be a charming location. I know this building has been many different restaurants over the years but this has to be the best. Our server was great, she has personality, and was just very enjoyable. Our meals and drinks came out quickly and so very good. The meals are fresh made and not just sitting around, my poached eggs were the best I have had in years from a restaurant, real house made corn beef hash was very flavorful and hit the spot. My wife said the quiche was over the top good, and her Cream Brule was some of the best she ever had. We will be adding this into our rotation of bruch spots.

Such a gem and overall great dinning experience just 15 minutes from Frederick! Their food and staff are just amazing truly. We forgot to make a reservation (suggest making one) but they managed to squeeze us in. It’s a family run charming cottage restaurant. Their food presentation is esthetically beautiful. You will leave happy and full! We sat outside on their patio and enjoyed their live music. Emma was our waitress, she was the BEST!! She made us laugh and also was super knowledgeable about everything on the menu. Most importantly you have to leave room for Emma’s Grandmas coconut pound cake for dessert; it’s nothing like you ever tasted I promise you that. It’s so good that the recipe is secretive in their family!

Excellent food and service. Extensive wine and cocktail menu, limited beer selection. We sampled a plethora of items on the menu, the tuna, Thai chicken bites, jalapeño & cheddar pretzel bites, buffalo blue cheese empanada. I also had a steak salad and my partner had the pork carnitas. I love a good tasting menu, and this was it. Highly recommend the steak salad, wish the pecans were a tad bit more candied. At the time they had live music and outdoor patio seating. We had great conversation with the server, although she was a bit in the weeds she provided excellent service.

We had an amazing dinner for our anniversary. We had the crab dip appetizer and the bacon wrapped filets for our entree. Topped off with coconut pound cake. This place is our go to for special occasions and Josie did a phenomenal job as our server.

Great place for Sunday Brunch. The prices are very reasonable. The food is fresh. The drink menu is always according to the season. There’s also a great mocktail menu. The decor is also great.

Beautiful outdoor patio. The scallop with rice and snap peas was delicious! The sirloin salad was filling. And crab dips was excellent

Came from out of town for a girls night, this place was perfect ! Everyone was super nice from the time we walked in till the time we left, especially Josie, our server, who was outstanding !! She gave us amazing recommendations, we had the crab soup, two different salads, split two apps, I had the pumpkin martini, my sister had the candy cane martini, paired our salads with two glasses of wine and finished off with an incredible heath bar cheesecake for dessert. I cannot wait to come visit again !! Thanks again Josie and staff for your wonderful hospitality!

We live close to this place and this was our first time.... Excellent food, drinks, wine/beer list. And prices are reasonable. Tuna meatballs, buffalo cauliflower and hanger steak were super delicious. Love it and will be back. Nice job!

Food was delicious, service was awesome. Had coconut pound cake with some of there blood orange ice cream. Amazing. We will be back soon. Luv this place. The strawberry rhubarb crisp is pretty awesome as well. Not cheap though. But you get what you pay for.

Excellent menu choices and every week they offer very unique selection of entrees “chef specials” to die for. Highly recommend. Great drink menu. The Duck Nachos are amazing! Be sure to make reservations. We use open table.

This place is a gem! We usually go for the Sunday brunch after church service. I would suggest making a reservation because I it can get crowed very quickly. The food has always been delicious and fresh. I start with the cinnamon rolls. It is served warm with that fresh out of the oven aroma. It's enough to share, but after tasting then, you probably will become very selfish and ask for a take out box to enjoy them later. The shrimp and grits are creamy with the shrimp cooked just right, not rubbery. The mussels are listed as an appetizer, but paired with a salad to me is a meal. They are also delicious in a wine based sauce. The brunch menu has something for every taste. For sandwiches and salads to quiche and omelets. The staff are knowledgeable of the dishes and attentive to each guest. There is also a great wine and cocktail menu if you prefer something stronger than coffee or tea. The prices are competitive, but plan on spending $30 to $40 per person, usually what I spend because I get the cinnamon buns, which are $10 by themselves, but well worth it! I highly recommend visiting here.

Had a wonderful dinner at MCR. Service was excellent and menu was varied and interesting. I ordered the cod special but unfortunately they were out (fairly early on Saturday night); however the halibut substitution was great. Highly recommend.

Fantastic food, fantastic atmosphere and the service was superb. We called ahead with a group of 9 for a Thursday night and they sat us as soon as we arrived. We ordered a variety of appetizers and all were delicious. The Hush Puppies and Deviled Eggs stood out. Same with the entrees. Everyone loved what they ordered. I'm a big fan of hanger steak, and theirs was the one of the best I've ever had. All of this in a little charming country Lodge type setting. Rachel was a true professional and had no issues with all of the orders and chaos caused by our large dinner party while remaining witty and always a smile on her face. Dessert was a great cap to the evening. Can't wait to go back again

What a beautiful evening. From the gentleman that seated us to our waitress, Rosa, the entire experience left a smile on our faces. We were celebrating our anniversary and wanted to try a new to us restaurant. This topped our list for great experiences. Our food was delicious and dessert topped it off. We will definitely be returning. Thank you!!

Monocacy Crossing is a hidden gem close to Urbana and Frederick. Our favorite place for a meal. Friendly and helpful staff and excellent food! We have never had a bad meal! The Scallops dish for lunch is the best you can get, it’s super tasty, filling and a great deal for only $20! You can get the scallops as an appetizer during dinner. The deviled eggs is a must try for an appetizer. My husband loves the Reuben. Again never had a bad meal. Well worth a visit or maybe ten visits. :)

This was our 26th anniversary, so we wanted someplace special for dinner and Monacacy Crossing filled the bill in every respect. I won't bother to rave in detail about the food, only to say that the very creative menu offered some wonderful choices and the ones we ordered (Shrimp and Grits on red pepper grits, and Schnitzel) were both outstanding. We rarely order appetizers but we splurged on the cheese board, and were glad we did. The assortment of cheeses was excellent and all the little "goodies" to add to the cheeses were delightful. Well, there I go, raving about the food!

Had a big party, and we were treated royally. Becca and Marcia took excellent care of us, going out of their way to make our event a super success. The food was excellent as always, and the prices are decent. We will continue to dine here often as well as have our special events here as well.

This is by far the nicest restaurant I have ever been too. I went on a date with my girlfriend and was absolutely delighted at the atmosphere, service, food, and prices. It was a somewhat formal restaurant with spacious seating. Table lights had multiple settings and the other diners were fairly quiet and respectful. The portion sizes were great, and the food itself was absolutely to die for! We had an amazing time and I can not wait to come back again

The husband and I would drive by this little Snow White-looking cottage nestled in the woods with always a packed parking lot, and told ourselves we'd have to try this place sometime to see what the fuss was about. And am I glad we finally did! It's been a looooong time since I've found a restaurant that really deserves all the stars. Not only was the food truly exceptional (the husband had the sage-cider pork tenderloin while I had the walleye fish with THE BEST "potato salad" ever), the atmosphere was warm and inviting, the prices were very fair for the quality (and large portions) of food served, and the waitress (thank you, Rachel!) was wonderful. I always appreciate a wait staff that know how to adapt to different audiences and recommend dishes not based on the highest bidding price, but because they genuinely liked an item on the menu. Cherry on top, the restaurant even printed a little placard that wished us a happy anniversary and threw in a delectable dessert. It made our outing really special! Thank you for the best first experience at your establishment, and we can't wait to come back... this weekend!

Hands down best brunch in Frederick. High quality food VERY reasonably priced. We’ve had the homemade cinnamon rolls, duck nachos, chicken biscuit, and bacon wrapped fillets over 2 visits. Every single item is amazing and you need to come eat here. No excuses. Go now.

Four of us dined here on Saturday, December 27 and it was really busy, but I had one of the best meals that I’ve had in a long time at any restaurant! Every entree and appetizer was delicious and served at the appropriate temperature. My Pork Schnitzel with truffle mushroom sauce over red skinned shallot mashed potatoes was absolutely delicious. I’m already devising a plan to return again for that! Our waitress was attentive, but not intrusive. Even though it was really busy, she did not rush us at all. In my opinion I can always get a solidly delicious meal here and the prices are reasonable. I feel like the menu has a nice variety of foods for everyone.

Dinner was delicious.. drinks were also delicious. The dipping sauces for the onion straws were soo good. Can definitely tell their food is homemade and fresh, especially the sauces (best blue cheese ever), pasta and hushpuppies (love how they weren't overly breaded and super soft). The staff were friendly and very personable, even when I went back a 2nd time. Only complaint was lunch (no pics)... honey curry chicken wrap was flat in flavor and the fries were utterly disgusting.. fries were super soggy and tasted old like they've been sitting out and they microwaved them.

Went to a birthday party here.. Wasn't what I expected.. I've been in the area 50 yrs. this was my first visit. Service was great our server did a wonderful job and all went well birthday party was a success! Food was good everything came in on time. (we had a party or 14.. ) I will recommend to all & we will be returning.. I see this as one of Frederick's hidden gems the vibe felt very local.. Not to mention if you didn't know where it was located it probably wouldn't bleep your radar. I say this because as best as I can remember I've never seen a commercial or advertisement for this restaurant... So to me that means they are doing something right!.. Keep up the good work. 2 Thumbs up to Jessica she did a wonderful job.. & kept a smile through it all!!...

I was surprised how nice the restaurant look inside, and have nice large bar. We ate outside on the Terrance also a nice large area with umbrellas..very nice. You appreciated the green from the woods and the sun peaking through the trees. Also, they have a nice wood shed with flowers hanging on the doors(Cute spot for pictures). The food was good, but I wasn't amaze by it. I have the halibut it was fine, the wine was also good. My partner like it as well. We love the special they have that Sunday, WINE BOTTLES ARE HALF OFF and Thursday too. We got two bottle while we were there and two more to go. In regards to the music on the background, it was good selection too. Since this review was from my first experience, I'll like to come back again and explore other seafood options on the menu, and especially enjoy the atmosphere. ENJOY IT! BON APPETIT!!! 😊

Food was great as was the service. I do wish there was a little more light in the dinning area we where as it was a little hard to see as the night went on, the fixture by us had a burnt out bulb. The filet mignon and Pork tenderloin ee perfectly cooked. Mashed potatoes and scalloped potatoes also had great flavor. Portion sizes could be a tad small for the price but we didnt leave hungry. If you go for a special occasion they have a nice card on the table when reserving the table. We will definitely be back and look to do the patio as it gets cooler during the fall months.

First visit in 10 years. Not as good as I remembered. The short rib burger tasted like an average burger but the crab dip was very good. Service was ok. The friends we went with raved about the fried chicken.

F

The food was just average. I went to a big birthday party there with some family members and didn't really enjoy the food. The price of the food on the menu doesn't justify the taste.

T
Tom Rojas

Ordered the fried chicken dish last night. Meat was dry, not tender, and quite tasteless. Had absolutely NO flavor. It was served on a thin layer of mashed potatoes. Only good things were the snow peas. They need to ramp up the flavorings

R

Honestly this would have been a five star review for the drinks and food are really good. We have been here before and the service was great, this time though our server was great and he was super nice, I was really upset when they couldn’t accommodate our party that included 3 babies under 1 year old. We even had another party advocating for us but the employees would not budge. I understand brunch is a busy time and that there were other reservations and we did not reserve beforehand so we did not get our pick of the table or were not able to sit us inside, that is fair. But all we asked for was an umbrella to be able to get enough shade for mom and babies . This request was denied saying “it would not be fair to other guests” mind you were going to take an umbrella from an empty table. The part that really bothered me was that we were there for 2 hours, the place never got filled up and they never helped us out in this regard. The fact that it was 3 babies and that they could not help us find a table with an umbrella or use an UNUSED umbrella was baffling and honestly makes me upset. There was another party behind us, and even they tried to advocate for us to get some shade but again the request was denied. We left and there were still about 5 shaded tables unused and the upper patio which had the free umbrella, there was not a soul sitting there. So yes this was unacceptable.
