The food and drinks were delicious! I tried their new Birria tacos and loved them! Our waitress was amazing! Although they seemed to be under-staffed (like most places right now), we never felt the impact of it. This is still my favorite On the Border to visit!
I wish they had 3 1/2 star. It took a minute for someone to service. If you came from behind the bar and let us to our table. I did give him a nice tip. A very generous tip. My soup was wonderful. Our tacos were wonderful. The reason why I would like to give it 3 1/2 stars. It’s because I ordered an extra side of steak that I thought was going to be sliced thin like it looks on the menu. But they came out as strips like you would get with your fajita. I kept asking the service and describing it to them picture. And he agreed so I went ahead and ordered it. But oh well overall it was really good and I would recommend this restaurant. Had plenty of leftovers.🙂
I love the atmosphere here and my server kaitlynn was very nice and polite making sure all my needs were met.
We had a great experience with our visit today! We dined in this time and glad we did. Our server Forrest was exemplary! I was amazed at his memory and he was so friendly too. The food was great as well. The only place I can tell that needs improvement at this location is the To Go process. it's really slow and hard to get help. But if you want to dine in, you can't go wrong. Ask for Forrest :)
I was there to pick up a to go order for myself and my family. The staff was friendly and professional . My order was ready quickly, and it was made exactly as I ordered it. I have a few special requirements due to food allergies, and their help getting it correct was greatly appreciated.
Had a large table for my family and really enjoyed our visit and the food. Chips and salsa are fantastic. Magen was amazing and took great care of us!
The bartender Jorge did a fantastic job on my mango margarita. I’m normally not a big drinker, and it takes me a while to finish what I order. Not in this case! Found myself downing the entire drink in no time. Dangerously good and blew my expectations out of the water. Great stuff!
Love OTB, the best salsa in the world, so OTB was bought out and they changed the salad, beans, rice, but mainly the salsa, so sad, not the same at all!!! Don't like it at all, and if you're no longer ITB with there recipes, than change the name, your not OTB anymore, terrible 😔 I won't be back
This is our favorite On The Border. The food is always good. The atmosphere is great. The service is outstanding. Our server (Tanner) had our drinks out within seconds of having ordered them, and was very engaging, ensuring that I and my friends had a fun experience. Plus he was really good looking and I probably would have asked for his number if he wasn't already married :(
It's just an On The Border, you might think to yourself. No! This is THE On The Border. The salsa tastes better, the beer is served colder. I'm not sure what it is about this place but I really enjoy my experience every time I come here. And I'm not that kind of guy. I don't even like that part of town but I will eat THERE any time I can. (6 months later) Just went back the other day and had a new waiter. Richard, was new but thoughtful. Whoever trains the wait staff here has done an exceptional job. We've eaten here as a family for years and we always have great service. If you read my reviews, I give some good ones and some bad ones. Chains usually catch grief but this one breaks the mold.
It was really a great night outside so we sat out on there patio. There patio is so nice and there food is wonderful. All the hot sauce and chips you can eat with your meal. Love there nachos, they have lots of cheese. We had the best waitress. She was so cheerful and ready to please. They have the coldest beer. Great night! Great place! Great food!
Used to come here with my mom at least one Wednesday a month. She loved this place. It’s exactly 2 years since she took the high road. Today came to spend some time and reminisce about the places we used to hang out. Miss you mom. Thank you Cyrea for making the visit a good one.
Our waitress was amazing. I wish I got her name. She lost her husband a few months ago, and was still a blessing to us. Prayers for her.
We have been to this OTB on numerous occasions over the years. It has always been good. Today we were in a bit of a hurry. We had prompt seating. The manager came by to see how everything was going. We said we had chips and salsa, but needed to order. We had a server soon after. We told her we were in a bit of a rush, so she took our order, got our food out perfect, refilled salsa and water, and brought us our check. We were in and out in a little over 30 mins. Well done! We aren’t typically in a hurry, but we appreciate the prompt, excellent service when needed.
I asked for no salt on my chips... Short waiting time for fresh, hot chips without salt! 😋❤️
In town for a meeting and it was so good with fast service we went back the second day.
Went this past weekend with family for dinner. Friendly staff and the food came out quickly. Their shrimp bowl is my favorite. Overall a good location.
I would first like to Thank Mick and the amazing team he assembled for us for the baby shower we hosted at this establishment. Mick was extremely gracious in accommodating all 55 of our guests as well as making sure we had a great time. The food, service, and hospitality were second to none and we're more than grateful we held our event here. My family will definitely be regulars here for sure. Thanks again!!
Food was nice and fresh and nothing better than having a refreshing customer service experience which happens few and far between now days which makes you more appreciative which it happens. I had Lucas as my server this evening and service was fantastic. Timing was prompt accurate and not over bearing. Hold onto your good help On the Border 🙌 -from Seniored Hr manager
The food was very good! The service was fast and friendly. We have not been here in a while, this visit convinced me that we will be going here more.
Had a great meal there this evening! Magen was super attentive, my drink never ran out! Her manager Katie came out and checked on us too, she was really friendly and made me feel welcome! I'll definitely be back for taco Tuesday!!!!
We arrived at 8:35pm on Sunday March 30th. We are already done with our food, and paying for the check at 9:10pm! Service was fast, and people were nice. The cook tonight is also AMAZING!
This Garland location is great to order from. Have ordered several times now for delivery & they pack everything so nicely & food is just yummy!! 😋🤤 I definitely recommend the fajitas for two & if you want good food delivered.
Food was beyond what I remembered and our server was great.
Love the fish tacos! Servers were professional and friendly. Music is a bit too loud.
Emily, Marsae was so awesome, I ended up coming back the next evening. Today, my server, alexa was awesome as well. This is what I call a top notch dining experience. Please go back to the old fajitas... that garlic parmesian is not it!!! The warm salsa is growing on me and the chips are 1000% better!!
In Feb, 2026, they showed a new menu and some improved dishes. Guacamole made like I make it. Mostly avocado. Smooth and great with their chips. Manager made a point to introduce himself and our waiter was young, eager and very attentive, but I’m not complaining. The strawberry swirl I ordered was a frozen, very tart & refreshing drink. I forget what we ordered. It’s been a few days, but we found it tasty.
JAVON Was our server he was outstanding very Personable goes above and beyond to make sure that you are waited on and not waiting for anything if you want Fantastic service asked for Javon . Thanks Javon. God bless you and your family.
It was new to us as all the ones we used to frequent have now closed down. We stopped by and had a small lunch date together and it was great! Waiter was so wonderful,.food was affordable and yummy
This location does not disappoint! The food was fresh and flavorful, and the portions were generous. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. Definitely a place I’d come back to for a casual, satisfying meal!
Sweet brisket quesadilla!!!!!!! At work we have monthly staff meetings where I have someone on my team choose a place to order take out for lunch. Mike came in big with his urge for Tex-mex today at On The Border! They have really stepped up their game because everyone was raving about how delicious their orders were! I got the brisket quesadilla as I mentioned earlier in the form of an expletive! It came with this southwest bbq sauce that was on point perfect! The whole meal “slayed.” (I think that’s how the young folk talk these days—I’m about 25 years too old to say that…) The service was quick! The bill was right! We will be back probably next month! That is for putting our bellies on the good with On The Border!
Came in for National Nacho Day today, Nov. 6, and ordered their stacked nachos 1/2 off today. server Keith met me at the door, seated me where I wanted to sit and was quick with my order. Very nice…

I was eating for dinner alone for my birthday today and my waiter was SUPER sweet. I basically got a free meal, shot and dessert which I super appreciate. I was alone and On The Border made my day.…

The food was really good tasting, but not really steaming hot, the way I like it. The side salad was huge, compared to what I expected. The jalapeno vinaigrette was real tasty and acceptable, but I never tasted any jalapeno. Still no salt/pepper etc. on the tables and if the waitperson had to bring it, it can be forgotten. And more often than not, is. The cheese, and chicken/sour cream enchiladas were great.
One of the older On The Borders which has had a major face lift from when we here last. For a chain, the food is very standard Tex Mex but that is not a bad thing. The chips were warm and hearty as always, the salsa was not too hot but still very good and plentiful. This time we just stopped by for some fajito Nachos to share. There was more than enough for two people but next time I will have to ask for more pico. There was just enough kick to make it interesting. Service was incredible - something I have always noted at almost all the visits at different locTions over the years.
Four stars because the food was good when it was correct, and our server was delightful and patient but she apparently sent in one of our orders correctly. When we told her about it my sister mentioned that she liked the veggies that came with the incorrect entree, but rather than bringing those back, she just brought the new sides. Since we assumed they weren't going to serve those to someone else we couldn't understand why she wouldn't have just returned the veggies. I also had requested no corn in my bowl and my dressing on the side and neither of those were correct. It turns out the corn was mixed in with the rice already but rather than telling me that and letting me decide if I wanted it, she just brought it as is. I don't know what happened to my dressing on the side. The place itself needs an uplift - it needs to be a little brighter and more inviting, and the ladies restroom needs work because there was water on the floor in the stall. And they definitely need to buy better cutlery. The forks and knives looked very cheap to the point that the knives looked like they were dirty. Since nothing wiped off it was clear that it was just cheap metal that had become discolored. I was glad I wasn't eating a steak or something that I would have had to cut into with that thing though.
The chips and salsa are typically good. The flavor of the salsa is especially unique because it has a kind of smoky flavor to it with just the right amount of spice. The kids had the corn dog meal. They ate it up, so it must've been decent. We got some drinks - the Borderita, the barrel-aged margarita, and a Mexican Old Fashioned. According to our waiter, we were the first to order the Mexican Old Fashioned at this location, so I am including a picture of that. It was good overall. I do think that the experience would be a bit better if the cleanliness were addressed. They may have been short-staffed, so I understand that can be a challenge.
Everything was really good. Food good, waitresses nice and quick. However, the "state" of the men's restroom was horrific...
Not very busy even though we were there at peak dinner time. They have a great outdoor seating area but it was a little on the chilly side so we ate inside. The dining area inside is quite large and …
We waited on the wait staff to seat us. No one came, we went to the bar for dinning. A waitress waited on us and she was awesome. We ordered stacked nachos and they were over heated. I dislike the Northwest drive location. I love I635 location in Mesquite. They also had many tables needed to be cleaned, inside and out side of the restaurant.
It feels like, I could have been sitting in spider webs atmosphere wise, the place is missing something! Food and Services was great!
It is really telling that Sunday afternoon at 1:30 there are very few patrons here when all the other restaurants around this are full. The food is okay oh, what you would expect at any On the Border restaurant. It was serve Timely, and the server did an OK job of taking our order and someone else delivered it. Nice and friendly server, but not very attentive even though he had just a few tables. It was sad that we had to wait nearly 10 minutes for somebody come and seat us when we got there. The whole atmosphere was one of comfortable boredom. Management really needs to get on the ball. This could be a good restaurant, in a good location. Interesting to see a small dive half a block away full and a chain restaurant nearly empty.
Okay. Not sure if it's because we walked in before they closed but the food was so bland. I had to salt my own Live Guac, good thing he left it at the table. The salsa tasted like pasta sauce, IDK. I wouldn't come back.
There really aren't any words to explain how bad the service is here waiting several minutes just for somebody to seat me and then several more minutes just for someone to bringchips The waiters clearly don't want you here. They see you and then they run to the back. I don't know who the manager is here but they're doing a poor job
bring back the red sauce not a fan of warn brown one
Edited to reflect the new ownerships influence on the food: The staff was fantastic and more attentive/welcoming than they've ever been. That, unfortunately, is where the delight ended. OTB's iconic (and I might dare say one of the few reasons to frequent their establishments) salsa was tragically substituted for a warm (I know) and more pepper heavy (lol) salsa. It's not particularly unpleasant but it isn't the classic OTB sauce and is such a pronounced departure that we initially assumed they might've somehow and ran out of the staple and had to replace it with a poor imitation from a grocery store. We were then I formed by the manager that Pappas has purchased them and the salsa and "all of the ingredients" were changed. The fajita meat was tough and lacked punch and the guacamole had enormous chunks of avocado and, sadly, also lacked any flavor. Massively bummed but I guess the writing has been on the wall for a long time. Despite being an unusual spot for OTBs (I'm used to stand-alone buildings), the food and atmosphere very much matched the vibe and experience one would expect. The service, however, has been even better than typical OTB service (on two separate visits) - both waitresses were very warm, attentive but not overbearing, and pleasant. An overall great experience.
Nice environment, waiter and customer service was pretty good, we ate for my daughters 16th birthday so I didn’t want to say much and ruin the mood but the food has definitely took a big turn downhill especially for the price. We ended up paying $250 for 7 adults and 2 toddlers which is fine but any other place we eat for $20-30 a person is bringing out top notch plates. To start the food was all warm, not one thing actually hot or steaming. My enchiladas weren’t even hot on the inside just a room temp. My daughter got the shrimp tacos & the shrimp was heavily overcooked almost crunchy or chewy which every chef should know is a no go. My sister ordered the baira tacos didn’t have choose oozing which was super awkward that’s always been my favorite part of that taco. The kitchen definitely could use some help as far as the food. I’d probably look into other options for my large party or birthday. Things have changed food wise at On The Border…
The food was delicious and came to our table very quickly after ordering. The service was eh!! We received our food at the same time as our drinks. We never had any refills for drinks, chips, or salsa. We had to ask three times for salt. We did have a bigger party, but there were only two other tables in the entire restaurant on a Saturday. The service should have been way better!
Came here on Cinco De Mayo, a little after 7:00 p.m. I sat at the bar. Service was pretty slow, my waiter was somewhat erratic. He would almost run when he had to do something, like he was the only one working, but the place was well staffed, so the urgency seemed weird. Silverware, straws, and refills came a little late. My combo fajita order looked much like a lunch special portion. The rice and beans were cold and bland. When I picked up the plate I could feel dried food on the bottom. Asked for a cup of queso, I got a bowl. I asked for no sour cream and guacamole, I got both. The spots next to me at the bar sat dirty for a good bit, 10 minutes or more. I’ve been done with my food now for 15 minutes and still haven’t got my check. The Mesquite location is far better. A 5 star experience every time I’ve gone. I’d go there if you were craving OTB.
Restaurant was empty when we walked in with maybe two people at the bar. There was a sewer smell throughout. Food was okay but our margaritas were extremely sour as if the rind off the limes were blended in and we just couldn’t even drink them.
Needed a Marquita so my girlfriend and I went to On the Border off Northwest in Garland. Our waiter was excellent (Victor). He was the only reason we stayed. Food wasn’t bad either. But the place was nasty. All glass was nasty and the woman’s bathroom was very bad. We left when the young lady brought out smelly broom that almost made me sick to my stomach. I feel for employees having to work in these conditions.
This is worst On the Border i've ever been to. The food is good. The service is horrible. If you want a mediocre dining experience, this is the place for you. I'm actually being nice.
The place was nowhere near crowded. The hostess didn't ask if we preferred a booth, just plowed past us to one. We asked for a table instead. She took us to the nearest one which had a trash can butted up to it. The table was clean, but nothing else was (floor hadn't been swept yet). The women's restroom had toilet paper all over the floor. The trash was so high it was almost touching the paper towel dispenser (not an exaggeration). I was holding judgment, hoping the server might save the night. Nope. She greeted us with a smile and had a great demeanor. Everyone of us had to ask for a beverage refill and she was gone so long between trips to check on us we never really finished getting settled into the meal. I probably won't go there again.
This an update to a very old review. Sadly we may not be back. The change in ownership and menu has been catastrophic for this chain. The online app is worse than useless, often giving options that don't exist, or none at all. Daily specials not there at all. The staff stare blankly and are confused by the simplest of orders, nor do they know what is on the menu either. There is no noticeable change in food quality, just that many old favorites are missing, for example brisket tacos. I hope they reconsider the changes and get the app fixed or it might be the fall of another iconic chain. *** old review*** Have been going here for years. Food is consistent and of good quality. Mostly good service, though there was a bump in the road a couple years back when they fired all the very good staff for some reason. Since then service has been hit and miss. Often good, for example Britney, and bad, today. Our waitress got the drink order wrong, lost the queso club number, got the order wrong, and hence we were over charged. It was only a few bucks, but if we end up seated with her again, we'll ask for a different server or go somewhere else.
Our server took forever to check on us. At one point, we didn't know where the server went I didn't even get her name. She seems very sweet, but a little slow service for me.
Ordered Tacos Al Carbon and a Fajita Steak Salad for 5:30 pick up. About 2 hours in advance. My husband said the salad was delicious but I noticed the tacos had a strange taste. Upon inspection I noticed the meat was barely cooked and still very pink. This has never been a problem before. With all the Samanello and Ecoli out there I was worried about it being so under cooked so I was not able to eat it. What I did eat gave me a tummy bug. Not good and a little pricey for something I had to throw out.
If I could rate our service at a 0 start I would! Our waitress acted like she didn't want to wait on us and she had NO other tables she was dealing with. We could never find her, had to ask multiple times for things to be brought out. Never came to check on us once we got our food until we were ready to go. I normally love On The Border but this experience makes me not want to ever go back!
We had a terrible experience here the other night. It took forever for our queso to come out and it was cold when it did. Our server brought out another bowl and admitted it had been microwaved. The queso came out only a minute before our food did. My husband’s burrito was the wrong meat. Everybody’s food was not hot. Our server talked to the manager and we got a discount on the check but the manager never came to talk to us about our concerns.
OTB is no longer the same place. New owners have changed the recipes and it is not for the better. No more garlic in the quacamole among other things. After 25+ years it is time to say goodbye. Marce was our server and he was excellent.
We had the steak and shrimp fajitas. The steak and the tortillas were edible... the shrimp, beans, and rice tasted like it came directly out of an old plastic bag from Walmart, especially the shrimp. Ick. My husband said it was fine but also didn't eat the beans and rice and is... pretty oblivious to tastes and smells. All in all, it tastes and feels like bankruptcy. I dont think ill be going back.
Waitress attempted to charge us (two people) for four meals. I brought it to her attention and she was already aware. I snapped and said so you knew the check was wrong and you still brought it to us? She apologized but If she knew the check was wrong and she still gave it to us, lets me know all I need know.

Tried to come eat here with the kiddos on Halloween evening but was greeted with "we only have one server due to Halloween will be like 30-45 minutes" and then kinda brushed us off like he didn't want us to sit down he didn't even have menus in his hand so we said ok we will find somewhere else to eat. Didn't feel very inviting 😕
slow service. Food sucked. the wait to order took forever and no one was here. like no one. The hostess stood around eating a dessert. wait staff stood around in the back chatting instead of helping. If I could give this place zero stars, I would.
The food was horrible! I had an order of Chipotle shrimp tacos, and one of the shrimp was all rubbery. I told the waitress, and she told the manager I was not charged that meal but horrible food! Please don't go around 5pm cuz they are changing shifts and they only have one cook. *** Never again***
Never dined here but had take out twice which was typical tex mex. Rice, beans and cheese... you know. So we decide to dine in Friday night and waitress did warn us kitchen was backed up. It wasn't busy. While waiting we over heard two tables complain about the food. So we were kind of expecting subpar food. We were right. Food was horrible. Hoping it was just a bad night. Too many other texmex options to go back for that.
My husband and I visit On The Border 3-4 times a week. We are regulars who meet other regulars there at the bar to have some drinks, eat dinner and watch sports. We spend hundreds of dollars each week. First of all, now they have stopped turning the volume on the TV for sports. So, if you go to watch the Cowboys you have no sound just loud music. Makes no sense at all & when we ask the manager to turn the sound on, he states that he has to contact corporate for permission. Now they have started running out of certain liquors. Several of us like drinking Souther Comfort and they have been out of that liquor for over 3 weeks now. So we started drinking Crown Royal Apple. We went in yesterday & they are out of Crown Apple. So we asked for Don Julio tequila & guess what they are out of that too. We have been told that corporate is getting rid of most of the liquors. We will be looking for another restaurant to spend our money at. Very disappointed with this OTB.
Charged me for a drink I didn't receive. Brought me out the wrong drink but took that off the bill. Seen manager just hanging out back playing on his phone. All in all a very subpar experience.
Our experience honestly I don't know if it could have been worse. My wife's rice was ice cold. The veggies were barely cooked and the small portion that were were mush. There were big chunks of something incredibly burnt in her soup. When we mentioned that the rice was ice cold all they did was microwave the plate which was evidenced by the mushy soggy avocado and the obvious pieces of chicken she had already eaten. There was hardly anyone in there but they told us the kitchen was swamped. What started off as a hopefully fun date night ended with a complete loss of appetite and absolutely no desire to ever come back to this location. Possibly on the border in general.
I'm not giving any stars. Arrived at 3pm 10/6 wes greeted. Employee slapped the menus and utensils on table in a pile said server will be with us in a moment. Then proceeded to greet other customers took their drink order and served chips. We waited another 10-15 minutes before deciding our business was not wanted.
worst on the border i’ve ever been to. Fired the best general manger Paul Kirby. Had gone to crap after that. Maybe if they had better management they would have better employees.
Sat for over 10 mins and still was never even asked if we wanted water. Nothing. One girl was sitting with gues chatting, paying attention to nothing but their laughs. Don't go. No recommendations coming from me
Walked in and were seated at a booth that had not been wiped clean.... so we moved to another, and another, and another. 4 different booth that were just not even wiped at all. My shoes were sticking to the floor, they need to mop the floor with some water and soap. Overall a total filth... strongly suggest anybody to go somewhere else.... I can't even imagine what it's like in the kitchen if their dinning areas is that filthy! 🥴🤔🤮🤢
The margaritas are so bad. It's a shave cone with flavor not alcohol at all and they are too expensive $6.99 If you really want a good margaritas yoy need to go to Rancho Matt's Martinez the happy hour is from 3PM to 7PM . Monday through Friday and Sunday all day long for just $4.00 dollas and the food is very good too.
Food order was all wrong despite the chit receipt being attached showing the way I ordered it. Had to wait an additional 20 mins for the togo apple juice. Girls at the host stand were rude. This locations going down hill. The one off George Bush is WORTH the drive. Shut this one down like you guys have done with the other locations thats have gone down hill
Food is always okay, not great. When I went in there was a dead cockroach laying legs up right in front of the main walk area… after seeing this I will never order from On The Border ever again.
Was initially told a 5 minute wait for a table for 2. Waited about 9 minutes and went to ask how much longer. Server told the hostess they weren’t ready so she said 5 more minutes. In the meantime two more parties walked in and then walked out due to the wait. There are six tables being served in the whole (otherwise empty) establishment and what I’ve seen, about 4 servers walking around…..never been to this location, but curious what is going on with it….? Update: at 17 minutes and waiting…..and 3 tables being served.
I’ve been dining at the Northwest Hwy./Saturn Rd location since it originated - well over 50 years. Today I stood near the front door for probably two minutes or so, which was no big deal, but then decided I might as well just eat in the bar area since that”s where most of the activity was. I walked over toward a young lady and said I can just sit in here, but if I could get someone to wipe off this table. Again, no big deal - it just needed wiping off. She motioned for a young man to wipe it off which he did, and I kindly thanked him. From that point she acted as if she had been put out to accommodate me, And then when she placed the menus on the table, I kindly said I already know what I want, “I just want a bowl of your tortilla soup and probably a drink here in a few minutes”. She abruptly turned and started walking off, and I said you can leave the drink menu, so I can look the drinks over - she rolled her eyes and pretty much pushed the menu at me on the table and I watched her walk toward the back. She came across the young man who wiped my table off and made a comment, and they both looked back at me. That’s when I decided that , I’m not putting up with that attitude from someone who I did absolutely nothing to.. I got up and informed the young man to cancel my order, that I was not going to put up with an attitude like that from the young lady working in the bar area. Totally disappointed today and a bit angry that my afternoon was pretty much ruined by this young lady who evidently was having a bad day and decided to make me the target of her frustration.
Anyone ever found a rubber band in your meal? This would be my first time too. The water had a strange taste like it was filled up in the sink or the toilet. Meal was okay but those two things can really take away your appetite! Won’t be coming back!
I took my family here and received horrible service. When we walked in the hostess sat us down and took our drink order. She then said she will pass it along to our server (which she never did) we waited 39 minutes to receive drinks and they were incorrect. Layla which she eventually ended up being our waitress (and she didn’t want to be) had an attitude because she didn’t want to be our waitress. She said the bartender was supposed to be our waitress. Now how she was supposed to be our waitress and tend to the bar with people at the bar, I don’t know! The customer service here is horrible and the people working there are lazy and don’t want to do anything. We spoke with the manager Galen and he didn’t give a damn about how we were treated in the restaurant. Don’t go here if you want good service and friendly servers.
They dropped a whole tray of salsa ON MY 4 MONTH OLD BABY.. her whole head face car seat outfit everything soaked.. we were there to celebrate my other daughters birthday and of course left and she couldn’t even get to eat but the worst part was they apologized and tried to offer me a free appetizer to make up for it. As if the same thing they give away in welcome emails would make up for this horrific event 😩 I’m completely mortified RUN STAY AWAY THEY HAVE NO TRAINING HERE I wish I had more pictures this was after I ran to the bathroom and started to wash her in the sink so the salsa wouldn’t burn her skin - the shirt was not touched by water it’s purely soaked from salsa Any lawyers on here reading this HMU , never have I ever witnessed such a thing
These are the saddest & most pathetic "nachos" ive ever gotten. I also got a half order of mini sopapillas, which were fine. Nothing to write home about But for $20 i was expecting something more substantial. I wasnt expecting something i could have just made in the microwave. It tasted fine but, honestly, to charge $20 for like 6 nachos & mid sopapillas is robbery
Since Papas (Papasitos) bought the chain (summer 2025), everything has gone downhill. Chips are soggy, salsa lousy, and portions have greatly reduced to save money. I was a regular customer for years, but will not be going back.
All the way around I give this location one star. The food is horrible. Portions are small. The service sucks. We used to go to on the border because it was good. All that has changed and last night 12-5-25 was our last time for good. Don’t waste your money.
I am a long time customer. Actually would visit weekly. Since the chain was purchased by this new company I have hated everything about it. The chips and salsa are terrible. The salsa comes out hot and the chips taste gross along with being very thin. The rice has new ingredients that makes it taste cheap and awful and the beans have the same issue. The chicken for the south west chicken tacos tastes both under cooked and wrong. Everything is wrong. I've gone from going weekly to never. Change it back
This chain was purchased by another company called Pappas. They have over the last few months changed the recipes and not updated the menu , they are cutting cost left and right and itnis affecting client experience . The salsa is served piping hot. The new chips are so thin the salsa makes them go immediately limp. And the flavor is absolutely horrid. Tonight I ordered guacamole which according to the menu comes with red onion, cilantro, salt and lime. For 9.29. What I got was a bowl of plain chunky barely mashed avocado with no red onion, cilantro , lime or salt. I went through two waiters and two supervisors. And they refused to make it as it appears on the menu. I was told they would be getting new menus in a few weeks but they were given direction by the new owners to make items according to the new recipes. They said the only way to get it with all of that was to pay extra to have them make it live at the table. As you can see from the attached photo, the full price appetizer is supposed to come With it. I will not be back to any of the On the Borders anywhere. On a positive note, the Margarita is still tasty. My friend and I have been coming here regular every few weeks for almost two years now for Friday happy hour. I noticed a few months ago the change in quality of food. But hot salsa, over salted thin chips and plain avocado is just too far for me as a customer. I’m done.
Went in shortly after opening on a Tuesday. Server was a nice guy, but other than that poor experience. First up, didn’t help we received a dirty appetizer plate with stuck on gunk from someone else’s meal. Food really sucked from starter to entrees. We ordered the sampler appetizer, tortilla soup and taco salad, Barely touched all 3, pretty nasty stuff from consistency to flavor. If you told me everything was from a can or reheated in a microwave I’d believe it. It’s a chain restaurant, so maybe we got the kitchen staff that decided to give up, who knows. Waiter noticed we didn’t like our food and offered to replace it, but we were just too grossed out to give anything another shot. The ambiance didn’t help either. Location seems to be transient’s favorite restroom stop. Foot traffic by our table was random people roaming in from outside just to do whatever in the bathroom. Freaked us out. We couldn’t get our check fast enough. Hostess did give my wife a card for a free bowl of cheese when we were leaving as an apology, but definitely won’t visit this location again.
We attempted to order lunch for our employees last week, but were told the restaurant was too busy and didn’t have the staff to fulfill our order. We decided to give it another try today using the same orders we had saved, was told they could do the order but could not deliver. So we agreed to go pick up the order. The staff was not very helpful, just straight and pick to the point. Additionally, our order was missing basic items like straws for drinks, and our specific request to number the orders (to help us distribute them easily) was ignored. Overall, the service was disappointing and unaccommodating. We will not be ordering lunch for our company from here again.
We were seated quickly, and the hostess told us our waitress would be with us shortly. Two minutes later, she came back and said — no joke — the waitress was hiding in the back. When the waitress finally emerged from her hideout, we placed our order right away. Our frozen margaritas arrived barely cold — more like slightly confused juice. The manager offered to remake them, and to their credit, the second round was actually frozen and much better. The manager also checked in and reassigned us a new waiter, who was friendly but clearly overwhelmed and stretched thin across too many tables. When the check came, we were told the drinks had been comped — which sounded great until we looked and realized only the non-frozen margaritas were actually comped. The food was genuinely delicious, and once corrected, the drinks hit the spot. But the service? Slow, frustrating, and weirdly theatrical. Hopefully just an off night — but bring patience and low expectations
