Such a cool vibe. Female singer during brunch was awesome. Our server was really on top of it, made sure our drinks were never empty and that our food was brought pretty quickly for a Saturday brunch time. She was super friendly which made the whole experience awesome.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was extremely knowledgeable and provided great recommendations. The lighting is nice and there was some nice music being played in the back ground. The food was fresh and delicious. The drinks were tasty and reasonably strong. I would say our experience was a 5/5 no complaints and I would highly recommend.
Sat at the bar and ordered drinks for happy hour. 15 minutes we were escorted to our table. Still had 5 minutes of happy hour so ordered another drink and some pretzel bites. Meals arrived at separate times but within acceptable limits. Food was prepared as we asked and everything was enjoyable and satisfying. No rush to leave after dining. Plenty of work staff.
Culinary Dropout in Gilbert is always our go-to spot whenever friends or family come to visit! The atmosphere is fun and relaxed, the food is consistently amazing, and the service never misses a beat. Whether we’re stopping in for a casual lunch or a lively dinner out, it’s one of those places that truly has something for everyone. One thing I really appreciate about this location is how easy it is to get to as parking is a breeze thanks to the ramp right behind the restaurant. You can park and take a quick walk right over, which makes the whole experience even more enjoyable (especially during busier times). Every visit reminds us why this spot is such a favorite. The drinks are great, the food always comes out hot and flavorful, and the staff is friendly and attentive without ever feeling rushed. Culinary Dropout Gilbert never disappoints, and it’s the perfect place to show off one of the East Valley’s best dining experiences to out-of-town guests! 🍸🍴
We had a wonderful lunch experience last weekend! The place is beautiful with a cozy atmosphere, and we were seated right away with no waiting time. The service was excellent — especially our server, Samantha💖. She was incredibly kind, quick, and took the time to explain everything in detail🥰. We really appreciated her attentiveness and professionalism. The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The decor added to the warm and welcoming vibe, making it a perfect spot for families to enjoy quality time together. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great food, excellent service, and a relaxing dining experience. It’s a bit on the pricey side, but definitely worth it. We'll definitely be coming back!💖💖💖💖
Fun place for two Martini lunch. It took an incredibly long time to get our drinks but the food service was fast and the waitress was friendly. The food looked good and was good. We enjoyed the cocktails.
My husband and I had dinner here. They have a dog friendly patio so we were able to bring our dog. We shared the steak frites entree and crispy popcorn shrimp appetizer. Both were delicious! Our server Dylan was great 10/10. Also we really enjoyed the music. My husband said “why haven’t we come here sooner”. Safe to say we will be back.
This is one of my go to restaurants for great food and environment. It never disappoints! Everything is delicious from the drinks to the food and especially the desserts. There's always something new to try with the care they take to add seasonally relevant items to the menu. I always know that my favorites will be available and prepared perfectly every time. This is such a beautifully ran and decorated restaurant and perfect for any occasion and time of day. I always recommend it for people that are new to the metro area and I bring all my out of town guest. 10/10 for me and I will of course be back.
Loved everything about Culinary Dropout. The food, service, cocktail’s & the atmosphere was wonderful. We all felt the prices were competitive for the area. Another plus, parking was a breeze with a garage right on property. We were looking for a special place to take out of town guests, friends recommended Culinary Dropout & they didn’t disappoint. We will certainly be going back to this gem. Give them a try, you won’t be disappointed!
Always good! Every culinary dropout looks unique and stunning! Same great taste 😋 Sandwiches & salads 🥗 are my favorite 😍
Great food, great service, heck even great bathrooms lol. We loveddd the crispy brussels. Deviled eggs were decent but not unique enough to blow my mind. Pub Burger +egg was delicious. Salad was good, but wasn't expecting the dill (not a fan). Drink (and drink menu) was fabulous. No complaints! Also, mac-n-cheese is hiding on the kids menu, but can be swapped out for your adult side. 👌
We had a great experience, our server was fantastic! The food and drinks were absolutely delicious, can't wait to visit again! Soft Pretzels & Provolone Fondue, Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice and Crispy Chicken Katsu were all fantastic!
Great night out with no kids. We had really good service from our server Arie!!! She was on top of her game and attitude was awesome. Great place for a Friday night!! We will be back!!
First time ever at a culinary dropout and I am very impressed. The atmosphere was super chill. The service was awesome and the food was beyond amazing. We ate the deviled eggs for the appetizer and then shared (they even split the portions in half for us) a salad and the most amazing curry I’ve ever had! I will definitely make the effort to go back here when in Arizona again.
First time ever coming here! Was not disappointed. The food, service and atmosphere was great! Husband and I ordered off the brunch section of the menu and the kid had chicken tenders with fries.
First time here and we will be back. This is a very large restaurant with a large patio looking on Gilbert Ave. There is a parade at the back with dedicated parking for restaurant guests. One of the picture shows the painted sign on the floor. Reservations are recommended since this place fills up at supper time. We were a party of six and all of our entrees were served in large bowls except for the fried chicken entree. I had the Peking Duck and shrimp on rice. A nice spicy hot mixture of flavours that worked well. Beer is priced well but please note the wine and cocktails by the glass are expensive. $16.50 for a glass of wine is too much in my opinion. We did enjoy our meals and the service was perfect. The place gets noisy when filled and and lighting is dim so be prepared. My cost with my wife’s meal plus 2 beers and 2 wines was $107 with a 18% tip.
I threw my 50th Birthday party last Friday at CD in Gilbert. 1920's/Grat Gatsby themed. I rented out the back room. The events manager Tessa held my hand throughout the entire process from start to finish. It took many months of planning to throw the party and Tessa and her team were always availle to answer my questions. The guests' loved the atmosphere, food, and drinks. The room was private and very intimate. If I turn 50 again, I'll have my next party there. Highly recommend!! Nikki was great too.
The wife and I stopped in for lunch, today. This was definitely one of our most pleasant dining experiences! The staff was great, the service was excellent and the food was delicious. We shared the pork belly nachos with an order of fries. I had an amber beer and the wife had a Diet Coke. Wonderful meal!
It lived up to the hype. We ordered the pretzel bites with cheese for starters which might have been my favorite part. I ordered the steak frites which was cooked perfectly and had awesome flavor, I just wish the steak was bigger. We also ordered the chicken katsu sandwich and that was also really good and great flavor for a sandwich.
This place has an amazing atmosphere, service, and food. All the food was expertly crafted. Tried this place while traveling and will definitely find one closer to home now.
We were visiting family in the East Valley and looking for a new lunch option. With recommendations online as well as from locals, we decided to give it a try. The outdoor seating was pleasant, though starting to get a bit warm during the lunch hour. Our server was prompt, helpful, friendly, and unobtrusive. The food was on point and as expected. The butternut squash salad was an unexpected delight, as was the slaw that came with the ribs.
We just discover Culinary Dropout in Gilbert, AZ, where incredible food meets an electric atmosphere fueled by fantastic live music. It's the perfect spot to eat, drink, and rock out.
Amazing experience having drinks and a snack here today! Our server Brandon was amazing! Whipped us up some delicious cocktails and some great convo. Can’t wait to come back!
Our server (Anna or Alana I believe, but sadly don't remember) was fantastic. She was not over bearing while still making sure we were taken care of. The restaurant itself was cool and very new-school chic.
We had an amazing experience at Culinary Dropout, and a huge part of that was our server Dylan. From the moment we walked in, the customer service was top notch. Dylan was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcomed. He checked on us often, had great recommendations, and kept everything running smoothly without ever feeling rushed. This was hands down some of the best customer service we’ve had awesome server, great vibe, and an all around fantastic visit. We’ll definitely be back and hope to have Dylan as our server again!
This is probably the best restaurant in downtown Gilbert. The atmosphere is chill and doesn’t come off as too performative and manicured like other wanna be hip food spots. Our server was amazing. He knew the menu well and performed his service with great care. Lastly, the food was genuinely exceptional. My party ordered the pork belly nachos which were probably the best nachos any of us have ever had. The guac and cheese sauce were clearly house made with great care and the pork belly was fantastic. Me and another member of my party actually split the bolognese and cacio e Pepe at our servers recommendation and both were very good. Lastly the Mississippi mud pie was excellent. My party split it amongst ourselves and we agreed it was probably the best pie any of us have ever had. It’s clear the kitchen really has passion and works diligently and creatively to provide an exceptional dining experience. Will 100 percent be returning!
Food is decent, but the atmosphere is UNMATCHED. Our group went to McDonald’s for dollar Big Mac’s after hiking THE camelback mountain. We headed to this place after dropping off our rental car and having no place to watch the IU v Miami college football championship, we decided to land here. We got a huge kick out of the roulette beer in a bag by the fire with some cool snacks. However, I must mention the fact that I FELT like Marty Supreme on the ping pong tables. Those tables are actually legit and amusing. I highly recommend this place because the atmosphere is phenomenal and the service is on-par with chick-fil-a. 5 stars. This place took us in despite having dirt all over our faces from the hike. Manager met our energy and my only critique would be too much bread on the fish & chips and the Arizona drivers for not keeping their muffles on their cars.
Culinary Dropout in Gilbert, Arizona was a great experience overall. The atmosphere was laid-back and welcoming, and the food was fresh and well done. It’s a fun place to enjoy a meal without feeling rushed. Sulli, the host, made a really positive first impression. She was friendly, professional, and welcoming from the moment we arrived, which set the tone for the rest of the visit. She handled everything smoothly and made us feel comfortable right away. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience with good food and a welcoming environment. We’d definitely come back, and Sulli’s hospitality was a big part of that.
This place is hopping. The best Long Island Ice I've ever had. Food was great! Server was wonderful. Will definitely return. Went to celebrate my daughters 21st birthday in style.
Staff from the hostesses to the bartenders to the servers are friendly, from the moment you walk in; plenty of seating so waiting for a table is rare; service is always fast; food is consistently tasty! Lost 1 star in the 'atmosphere' category only because the metal chairs seats that are popular now, are too small and uncomfortable. Love this place and always a top rec when meeting up with friends!
We went there because we liked the name. Ended up living the food and will definitely be going back! Everything is fresh and homemade and you can tell! I had the chopped chicken salad and my husband had the prime rib sandwich. Superb!
I wish I could give service 6 stars. Anna provided exceptional service and truly enhanced our dining experience. She was attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and made excellent recommendations. Our drinks were always full, our food arrived promptly, and she checked in at just the right times. Her professionalism, positive attitude, and genuine care for our table did not go unnoticed. Anna is a true asset to the restaurant, and we will absolutely request her again! Thank you!
This place never disappoints!!! The vibes are lively but relaxed, making it a great spot for both casual dinners and celebrations. We went for a work holiday party and the food was fresh, and flavorful—every dish we tried was a hit. Nikki was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from start to finish. She recommended drinks based on what we liked and they were excellent! I’ll definitely be back- highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious food and a fun vibes
Amazing drinks crafted by mixologist that taste complex and delicious! The food, certain items are better than others. We really liked the popcorn shrimp and sushi. The pigs in a blanket are okay, wouldn't order them again though because the beef franks taste weird. Service was stellar! Only downside was waiting to order, server went missing for a time and we hadn't even ordered appetizers.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere! Love CD and one of our fave goto spots! Held our 1st private party of 30ppl in the smaller room. Went off without a hitch, and whatever we needed they were very accommodating. Photos of party room below.
The food here is pretty good never overly flavorful but good. Portions are decent the price is a bit on the higher end. I would return and recommend. They have a very limited menu you might really like something and it won't be available next time.
This is a farm house full of fun! The open plan layout does mean that the sound levels are pretty loud in the evenings. Food is fast, and fresh. Service tentative. Good place to bring friends or family for fun (not conversations).
Culinary Dropout in Gilbert is one of my go-to spots, but this visit felt like the kitchen was playing a practical joke. The appetizers were still rock solid: wings, shrimp, pretzels with fondue, and Brussels sprouts all came out like they were cooked by someone who cares about life. The drinks were also winners. The Playboi Stache was good, Campfire Vibes was great, and the alcoholic coffee drink was so good I forgot its name, which I think is the point. But the fries… what happened? Every plate had the same sad, cold fries. I’m not a fry conspiracy theorist, but it felt personal. I ordered the 36-hour ribs with a salad and coleslaw, and my plate arrived with cold fries instead. They fixed it, but the ribs themselves were drenched in sauce like someone said, “Eh, let’s cover our tracks with barbecue.” They were tasty, but I have my doubts about the full 36 hours of smoke. Dessert pulled the save. My daughter had the strawberry lemon meringue and demolished it like it owed her money. Still four stars, still love the place, but let’s bring back the fries I know and love before I have to stage a peaceful potato protest.
Always very crowded and loud. Live music, and she was great, despite noise level. We did reserve ahead online. Appetizer was crispy Brussels, and there was NO crisp whatsoever. Sauce poured over all was tasty. My husband's fish n chips was delicious, light, fried perfect, my dish was horrible. Meat slices super tough, crispy rice was mush, barely any brocolini. Again, super sauced dish. My cocktail was fabulous. I did share the dish disappointment, and the server and manager were great about hearing me. I was offered a new dish, but not eager to wait another 20 minutes. Was offered dessert, which I passed, as they have NO GLUTEN FREE offerings..in anything. That surprised me. Again, a mixed experience, and the staff handled all fabulously.
We had such a wonderful {surprise birthday} brunch yesterday and everyone left happy. Our server was amazing, the cocktails were tasty + refreshing, everyone’s food (there were 10 of us at our table)was delicious and the cleanliness of the restaurant was a 5 star {attention to all details makes such a difference}
Great place to eat! The pretzel fondue is the best. Unfortunately this time the pretzels were not as fresh as usual and pretty much had no salt. Their stake frites is tasty! Wife had the salmon and enjoyed it. Waitress never brought straws after asking for them, so grabbed our own. Overall we typically have a great experience here.
This restaurant has really good atmosphere. The decor is good. Great place for date night. Employees are really nice and efficient. With that said the food is not great. The chicken was bland and overcooked. Not burned, just dry. The sides were not so bad but still a little bland. My date The drinks are made very well. If you are into mixed drinks I give them an A. I would still go back but maybe not order the chicken.
My real only complaint is the way the young lady servers were dressed. I'm all for people dressing how they'd like, however, when you're working at a place that at times hosts a wedding/reception and corporate events, look the part. These glad looked like they were out for a type of 'service', just not food. Torn jeans, tiny tops with too much info showing, thigh high black boots, is the reason we will not be returning to this location. The Scottsdale location.. all class. Also, ease back on the ice for your lemonade drinks. I've learned to ask for all drinks with no ice and a side cup of ice. The spicy rigatoni was very good, stay away from the burger. All bread with a tiny slice of well done meat. Our server was a nicely dressed young man, with a wonderful smile and helpful attitude.
Our waiter Joe was awesome! Beautiful restaurant, drinks and food is yummy.
Was just OK. Made a 5:45 reservation for a Friday night and I'm glad we did; it was pretty crowded. Service was good & food was good, just not great. The Brussel sprouts on the other hand were excellent. Food menu seemed pretty limited and nothing seemed to be their speciality, except the drink menu and our drinks were OK, again, just not great. So many dining options in this area that I'd probably choose one of the other ones.
"I visited based on a family recommendation for the food and atmosphere. However, as a first-timer in Phoenix, the meal didn't quite live up to expectations. My ribs were just average, and the coleslaw was so salty I had to swap it for fries. While the house salad was typical, the kale salad unfortunately didn't taste fresh. On the bright side, the service was great and our server was very attentive.
The waitress was nice, the server was friendly, the appetizer was good. That said, I'd give less stars if the category matched. What do I mean? Well, I ordered a gin and soda to start. It had rocks which I do not prefer, but I didn't think to say as much when I ordered. Next round, I ordered the same drink but without rocks. Well sure enough, the ice abounds. But ya know what? I'm having a good time, the waitress was very nice overall, I'll enjoy the drink with rocks included. Here comes the bill. Lo and behold, I'm charged differently for the drink without rocks (which didn't actually happen). They added $3 for the ice in a single drink. I kid you not. $15 with rocks, $12 without. Finally, their easy tip calc did a percentage calc on the total including tax. You don't tip on the amount that includes tax, and most places I enjoy calc on the subtotal. I tip well by default and the waitress was very nice so I tipped well, but I probably would have done better were it not for the drink fiasco. Just beware if you visit CD...if you order drinks that aren't beer, ask if they're going to charge you more for a few cubes of ice.
The food was very bland aside from the massive amount of salt. Very small portions for the price and the cocktails were far worse than the hole in the wall bar we pre gamed at. Of 6 people only one enjoyed their meal and everyone was mind blown by the bill. Beautiful restaurant but just not even close to worth the prices. Drinks were $15 and tasted awful, the food is worth maybe a third of the cost
Called and advised when setting up rez that we were attending a theater event so not sure when would be there. Got there ~ 45 minutes early. Girl a check in not pleasant, waitedalmost entire 45 minutes. You could not have a conversation because environment was so loud,, it was unpleasant. Wait staff & bartender were great. Food was terrible. Salmon very overdone (despite emphasizing wanted rare), double cheeseburger beyond well done, dry despite ordering medium rare. Pasta dish was "just ok". Will absolutely never be back. Sorry Sam Fox, that was a fail!
Do not go to this place if you are African-American me and my wife decided to go to culinary dropout out for the first time in Gilbert So when we walked in the lady seated us outside and she gave us the Menus and walked away usually no surfers always ask what drink would you like so that had made me skeptical a little bit so I waited another 10 minutes for someone to come over and there were three waitresses that walked past us so now I am highly upset so My wife asked for a manager, and the manager said another 15 minutes to come speak with us so what me and my wife, decided to walk out because the customer service was terrible. Do not come to this place it is very, very racist.
