Local gem! I recently ordered a bunch of sandwiches to bring to the hospital where I work in Lee’s Summit, and everyone absolutely loved them. It was so fun trying all the different sandwiches and seeing how much everyone enjoyed them that I went back the very next day and bought more to bring in again. We tried the Chicken Caesar, the Vodka Chicken, the Vodka Eggplant, the #7, the Reuben, and the #22 — and every single one was a hit. The portion sizes are big and are great for sharing with others or enjoying on your own. We also tried the Caprese salad, the pasta salad, the cheesecake bites, and the Black and white cookies. Yum. The sweet woman at the cashier was incredibly kind and helpful. At this point, I think I’m going to make it my goal to try every sandwich at least once. I’m already trying to convince my friend to let me pick some up to bring to her place for dinner this week when I visit. One of the doctors I work with even said, “I’d drive all the way to Gladstone for that Reuben!”
My first visit here! I love Italian deli’s and “hole-in-the-wall” type places. This spot did not disappoint. My family owns the Chicago Style Beef & Dogs in Lakewood, CO and one of my favorite sandwiches is a wet Italian beef. Unfortunately it wasn’t Friday so I wasn’t able to order that here, but the kind woman at the counter recommended I try the mild Italian sausage sandwich. It tasted fantastic and is a safe choice for anyone new. I couldn’t even really complain about the atmosphere. My main concern is that it seems like they’re quite popular but the space itself is too small to accommodate the lunch rush patrons who may want to eat inside.
Very delicious! The plentiful ingredients and bread are very fresh!
Found this gem a couple of years ago when we were looking for "Scooby Doo size" sandwhiches for my special needs son's birthday request. Now it is out tradition to come every year and treat ourselves to the #7 whole sandwhich. Food is delicious and customer service is amazing!
I don't eat here often because I sometimes forget they're here, which is a shame because this is one of the best sandwich shops in KC hands down. I've had the spicy Italian sausage sandwich and the meatball sandwich from here and both were phenomenal. The bread is nice and soft with a little bit of crunch on the outside. The homemade Italian sausage is unbelievably good. My only critique of the meatball sandwich is that I would rather have 4 meatballs that are half the size each of the 2 giant meatballs they put in the sandwich. The meatballs are very good so the size is just personal preference.
My daughter and son live in North KC and wanted to take me to one of their favorite places. It did not disappoint! Not only did they have fresh food, sandwiches, drinks, etc. They have authentic Italian food/groceries for purchase. I like how the back room looks like someone's living room. Quick service, food was great, plenty of choices... Would definitely recommend.
Both hands down and hands up, the best meatball sub in Kansas City, maybe even the entire Midwest, and quite possibly the whole contiguous United States with AK, HI, and outlying US territories included.
Some of the sandwiches at The Italian Sausage Company remind me of LaSalle's that used to be in Columbus Park. They're big enough to feed multiple people and they are excellent. I've never left hungry or without part of a sandwich to eat later. The hot sandwiches and cold sandwiches are both great. I appreciate that they expanded their restaurant to add seating inside. When they opened, it was a bit cramped inside with most of the seating outside at the picnic tables.
This place looks so unassuming from the outside but I guarantee it will knock your flipping socks off. My "accreditation" is that my Nonna is from Sicily and I've **never** had chicken cutlets or eggplant parm that tasted so close to hers. Those cutlets tasted like my childhood. I can't wait to try more items off the menu! **I'm also hoping to influence someone over there to make stuffed artichokes because #1. I've never seen them on a menu and #2. they likely wouldn't be very good in a restaurant that wasn't this authentic. ;)
I found this place on a list of KC's best 30 restaurants, and it did not disappoint. Everyone there was so friendly and helpful. It felt like I had discovered a hidden gem. The Alfredo Chicken Cheese Loaf was to die for, and I'm still thinking about the Black & White Cookie I had. We had the Chicken Parm hot sub and one of the Eggplant Parm subs. Magnificent. We will definitely be back.
I cant say enough good things about this place! I had the #1 sandwich and I cant believe how fresh and authentic all of the ingredients tasted. I was in Rome, Naples, and Sicily with my wife recently and had a sandwich there i was certain i would never have again without a 10hr flight. But the minute i bit into this masterpiece I was honestly taken right back to the little salumeria just down the street from the Colosseum. I cant wait to try the entire menu.
The pastrami is excellent. The Russian dressing is excellent. We got a 20 and 71. Corned beef was above average and kraut was proper. If I came back I’d probably get a pastrami with Swiss, mustard, and Russian. Highly recommend and look forward to trying one of the cold sandwiches or the muffuletta
Stopped in after hearing good things in a Facebook foodies group. I tried the #8 which is a pastrami and turkey Reuben on marbled rye. It was amazing. The pastrami was some of the best I've found in KC. I will say that for the price I wish they had piled it a little higher though. Nevertheless, it was an excellent sandwich and I can't wait to try more of what they have to offer.
First time visit today and it didn't disappoint! Heard great things about the service and food and it's all true! The two ladies at the counter were very friendly and a big help. I got the #7 Spicey half loaf and I love it! This will be a regular stop for me from now on. The can of corn is for the size reference. HUGE!
My husband has been waiting to try this place for quite a while. We were in Gladstone so we stopped in. It has the right “smell” of a NJ/NY Italian deli. My husband had the #7. I had a bite of his before I started eating and wished I hadn’t. He added the spicy gardinere. It was delicious! The bread was great and had the right amount of dressing and seasoning. I had the caprese. I was disappointed. Light on the mozzarella and the bread wasn’t nearly as good as my husbands. Limited side options and only canned drinks. We will be back, I’ll just chose a different sandwich. I wish they were open on Sundays so we could get a whole #7 for Chiefs games. It will most definitely feed 4!!
We got #7-#8-#13. #7 had the best dressing and flavor. #8 it was ok. Not much flavor in the Sauerkraut. #13 the sausage was dry. Chicken spadini sausage, not sure if that is the way it should be? Just ok. Not much flavor in the toppings or dressing. The bread and buns were good. Good portions.
I had high hopes for this spot. I went in set on a chicken Parm. Saw them on social media, and I said this spot looks fantastic. Nope. Service was great, but I waited close to 10, 15 minutes and as long as the wait was, this sandwich should've been piping hot. It was not. My cutlets were lukewarm, room temp at best and they also tasted like they had been fried In old grease. Disappointed. Again, service, great food... Not so much. It was a 15 dollar , cold , chicken Parm sandwich. Oof.
Kinda sad I have to change my review. I came here on my birthday and ordered my favorite sandwich the number 2 just to be disappointed when I got home. My favorite part of the sandwich was missing. THE VINE RIPPENED TOMATOS....I called because I drove 20 minutes to get this sandwich as a pregnancy craving/ birthday treat from my friend and I ordered over the phone and the missing ingredient was never mentioned until I called back....I was offered 10% off on my next order....a 17 dollar order with 10% off? Couldn't even get a "hey our ingredient for this sandwich isn't available, can I get you something different?" They weren't even going to tell me and my sandwich was disappointing I barely ate it....very sad because I order here a lot.
This was my Wife and I's first time eating here and we were very excited to try it as we've heard great things. As soon as i took my first bite from my #2 Sandwich I saw mold spots on the side of the bread and spat out my bite. I'm not sure if they check the Bread here at all but i would encourage anyone dining here to check for mold spots on their bread. I'm pretty sure i ingested some mold so it's safe to say i'm skipping lunch today. I had to call them 4 times to get an answer and when they finally picked up they seemed to not really care all too much and treated it as a regular occurrence because of the "fresh bread" offering me a refund without offering any sort of remake first. First and Last time here for us.
