I’m almost angered at the reviews in regards to this establishment. I am a TOURIST from England and my review is that of a tourist. We went to this restaurant and may I say it was the best part of my trip to New York from Manchester, UK. If I was travelling to NY I would 110% make an effort to this restaurant. Our waiter was Charles, who was flawless and made me feel so happy and welcome. He made my partner whose birthday it was feel so happy. I wish everyone could meet a Charles in their life. The food was amazing I am a veggie (awkward I know) but they were amazing. I would recommend to anyone and can’t wait to see Charles again! Thank you and please guys don’t acknowledge the negative reviews as some people are never pleased
My best friend had chilean seabass with rice. I had wild Argentinian shrimp al curry served with rice pilaf and mango chutney. It was amazing. The price was fair considering the quality of the food and being in the main area of Grand Central station. The service was excellent. Bread, bread sticks and butter were delicious. Presentation was devine. Would recommend and go back.
Let me introduce you to a place that gets my highest recommendation. The joyful faces of employees improve the atmosphere. Their food provides satisfying taste sensations. Personnel performed at the highest level! This spot provides what I need.
Being able to bask in the atmosphere of Grand Central Terminal was such an amazing experience. The service was top notch, providing elegant and thoughtful touches. The food was delicious, well presented, cooked to perfection, and an absolute joy to eat while people watching. It truly is an unique experience, and for a good price for good Italian fine dining.
Good food quick service. The ambience is loud as its in inside grand central. For visitors to NYC. I recommend taking the grand central tour. The window to purchase tickets its just below this restaurant. Then I would.dine at this restaurant, soak in the atmosphere and the craftsmanship of the restraunt and grand central. Nice evening for a couple.
The food was so good and the service and atmosphere were great. The high ceilings made you feel as if you were outside because there is no room, and we were still indoors. The weather was too hot outside so the feeling was so nice.
Great restaurant. Nice staff and very nice and fulfilling food. The perfect spot is on the balcony where you get to see travelers and the beauty of the central station. We ordered the spinach salad, mushroom risotto and chicken club sandwich, all were made from good quality ingredients and served nicely.
Great food and amazing vibes. Faisal was our waiter and he’s so professional and nice!
The restaurant is special and worth a visit, but there is a person who will make us come back to the restaurant again because of his service, his special treatment, and his fast service despite our many requests. He is Faisal. He deserves all thanks, appreciation, and respect.
Glad I made reservations - quite busy for the Holidays! Perfect spot for passing friends on a chilly day
It's an open restaurant to Grand Central Station. Wow! Food was amazing and service also.
One of my fav restaurants in New York. The view to the station is incredible, I could spend hours just watching people walking around the station. Their pasta is always excellent and their meringue cake is my favourite (I just can't have enough of it!). I highly recommend this restaurant.
Great spot in the most beautiful train station, a magical place, watching the people come and go... beautiful atmosphere. The italian food was great, excellent service. Italiant elegance. They even made me a vegan pasta dish specially for me as a vegan, as all things had cheese or something else. The others loved it, as well as the coffe and cake.
The experience was amazing. The place is surely unique, and the food is among the best ones I've ever tried in life. Truly Italian preparations with ingredients coming from the best sources in the world. The carpaccio and the prosciutto with melon are a must. The drinks are also worth it. And the staff is incredible. I hope I can come back soon.
I've been to several Cipriani's worldwide including three in NYC, always lovely service as you'd expect. They remembered me here from my first visit a few days before and I can't imagine how many people they have through these tables daily so that's hospitality. This one allows you to watch Grand Central station in all its splendour. I love the complimentary snacks, Italian style. Grazie mille.
Absolutely incredible hospitality by ALL of the staff. Food is good, especially for the price. Atmosphere/ambiance is hard to beat!
It’s a great experience to eat on the balcony in grand central! We took my little cousin here for her first trip to the city and she was captivated, looking up at the ceiling and out over the people. You would expect it to be loud in the train terminal but the acoustics were actually good in the restaurant, the sounds were pretty muted and we could all hear each other normally. Portions are small for the price, but the food was very good and we went for the atmosphere. Top notch service too!
First, we state the obvious; you cannot beat the atmosphere. I was solo traveling for business, and had equal opportunities to meet interesting people at the bar, or just sit, have a good meal, and people-watch over Grand Central station. The service is timely, but not intrusive. the menu is not huge, but they take the time to perfect each option. Everything I ordered was delightful, and I would order new things when I go back simply because I know they would treat the ingredients right.
Cipriani Dolci has a great location in the station. The restaurant / bar area has a clean elegant feel, even with all the daily commuting chaos around you. Its location is elevated with a great view of all the fun daily activity. I enjoy sitting at their bar to unwind a bit. The bartender is great at taking your order fast and serving your drink. When I order a sandwich it is usually served within 10 minutes and always tastes delicious. If you are looking for a relaxing fine dining experience while in one of the busiest stations, go to Ciapriani Dolce.
I don’t say this lightly… but this was a foodie’s DREAM. I have not experienced service and food this incredible in a long time. Location is perfect, especially if you’re coming off of or on to a train at grand central station. Overlooking the beautiful station’s hall, you still feel like you’re at a fancy restaurant and the service is so incredibly professional, attentive, and friendly. Our waiter, Foysol Kobir, was amazing: he was helpful, receptive to questions, always smiling, and very generous when it came to dessert. As it should be, the star was the FOOD!! The fusilli alla sorentina seemed so simple… yet it ticked every box and I just had to finish not only my plate, but the whole dish. The pasta is the perfect texture, the sauce is flavorful, yet not too rich, and the cheese pairs perfectly. We also got the beet and green asparagus salad with goat’s cheese which was very fresh and colorful. After debating on whether or not to get dessert, our waiter finally decided for us, giving us the meringue cake… and boy oh BOY was it melt in the mouth. The cake was light and flavorful with a deliciously sweet pastry cream and a still slightly granular meringue that gave the perfect contrast to such a smooth dessert. Our table was baffled by how good this was, and we left wanting to sit right back down again. I cannot recommend this place enough, take the time to try it out and you’ll see for yourself.
If you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience in the heart of New York City, this restaurant inside Grand Central Station is a must-visit. The atmosphere is a perfect blend of classic NYC elegance and vibrant energy, with stunning views of the station’s iconic architecture adding to the experience. I had the filet, which was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and paired beautifully with its accompaniments. Our table also shared a selection of desserts, and every bite was just as impressive as the main course. From rich, decadent chocolate creations to lighter, fruit-forward treats, each dessert was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Beyond the food, the setting itself is what makes this place truly special. Sitting inside one of New York’s most historic landmarks while enjoying a fantastic meal makes for an unforgettable evening. Whether you’re a local or visiting the city, I highly recommend stopping in for a meal here.
Every time we come to NYC, we always visit here at least once for drinks and the odd occasion to eat. It's got a fantastic setting over Grand Central Station, watching people go by their day. The cocktails are fantastic too! The service is great and we've never had a bad meal, drink or service. We would highly recommend this place!
I recently had an incredible dining experience at Cipriani Dolci in Grand Central, and I can’t wait to share it! The pasta was the tastiest I’ve ever had—perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. I had made a special request for a nicer table through Resy, and the restaurant staff truly went above and beyond to accommodate it. We were seated at a lovely spot with stunning views of Grand Central, which added to the charm of our meal. The staff were super kind and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the dessert. The famous Meringue cake at Cipriani Dolci was the best thing I’ve ever tried—light, airy, and absolutely delicious. Overall, the combination of exquisite food, exceptional service, and breathtaking views made for an unforgettable dining experience. Highly recommend!
I thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. It was after work on a Friday, so the place was jammed. Our reservation was ready on time. The entire table was served less than ten minutes of taking our order. Everyone, including myself, was very pleased with the food and service. And yes, it's pricey. It's Cipriani In NYC.
Pros: I love Cipriani all around the world. Have to say that my favorite is the one in CDMX in Mazaryk and Harry's in Venezia Grand Central Pros: * It's a beautiful restaurant with a dramatic design by the sculptor of the Wall Street Bull. * It offers a well-priced Venetian menu with all-day casual dining. * It has a great location inside the iconic Grand Central Terminal. Cons: none!!
What an amazing setting for this restaurant... Grand Central Terminal building is beautiful and big... the food was very good and the service splendid. My favorite was the white amatriciana... so unique. The endive salad was also delicious. A place you must visit when in NY... and the connection from the restaurant to JFK was 58 minutes from restaurant to gate!! (wasn't checking bags!)
I attended an award luncheon at Cipriani 42nd Street recently. I could tell this was going to be a great event. They had the red carpet out on the steps and staff greeted us as we walked in. The venue is gorgeous! It has cathedral height ceilings, crystal chandeliers and marble floors. I was blown away as I stepped inside. There were plenty of staff to greet and welcome all the guests. We were ushered through check in and coat check quickly. Then we were directed towards the bar for drinks and appetizers. Shortly after, we were given the okay to take our seats at the tables. The table settings were lovely. I especially liked how they lit up each table. The venue is large but with the lighting and acoustics, it still felt cozy. I thought the food was very good. We were given a three-course luncheon of salad, entrée and dessert. The entrée I choose was the white fish with mash potatoes. It was surprisingly very filling. The fish tasted fresh and light. For dessert they served two kinds of sorbet with fresh fruit in a chocolate cup. Delicious! You really can’t go wrong with this type of dessert. And then at the end of the event, as we left, they had waitstaff holding trays with small dessert bites for guests to take on their way out. Everything ran smoothly and the venue is very impressive. Overall, a great luncheon. I wish I had more functions at this venue!
Food is great, huge pasta portions. We order 2 pastas but next time we would share one for sure. Vitello Tonnato and Carpaccio were excellent. But the best part is the iconic New York City location, you can’t beet that! The energy of one of the busiest train stations, iconic building and delicious Italian food combination somehow is just perfect! Stuff is very nice and friendly, our server had many interesting nyc stories to share. It’s not as fancy as Chipriani Downtown, more chill. Highly recommend to try it! Make sure to order Pappardelle with Duck Ragu it’s the best I’ve had in a while!
First time here. Wonderful experience in Cipriani in Grand Central Station. Highly recommend for anyone visiting. You will not be dissipointed. We ordered the cheese plate and Parma ham bread sticks. Perfect for a bar snack with cocktails.
Such a great place to get lunch or dinner. I met a friend here for lunch and we both said the same thing, which is that it was such a cool experience to eat in a fabulous restaurant overlooking the entire Grand Central Station. It was so fun people watching while we had our lunch. The ambience is amazing! The food was delicious as expected. We ordered a simple salad with shaved parmigiana cheese, spinach ravioli and eggplant parmigiana. Everything was absolutely outstanding!! We cleaned up everything and I'm already looking forward to taking everyone here. Great experience, the service was excellent, the food was delicious and the ambience was perfect.
What an amazing place to have dinner with your colleagues to celebrate the holidays ! Food was absolutely fantastic ! Everyone dish we ordered was amazing ! And the desserts, how difficult to choose just one when they're all incredible ! The service we received was fantastic as well, very attentive. Let's not forget the view of Grand Central Station, spectacular during this time !
Phenomenal Italian spot with a view of the hustle and bustle of Grand Central. Perfect service, flawless plating and taste. Dishes were very Italian, as in not overly complicated with unnecessary ingredients and seasonings. Fresh beef in the steak tartare, so you taste the beef. Excellent wine selections.
Apple store closed in Christmas unlike 24hours near Plaza. Thus, all crowds clustered to opposite staircase, Cipriani Dolci's entrance. Regardless of gusty wind occasionally at end table, still what a venue, great spot for grandeur, people watching too. Ended up eating main course initially dropped in just for coffee and dessert. Carpaccio is divine. Martini mixology good too although general pricing on steep side even for glass of prosecco and wines. Pasta comes in plate as well as griddle-like. Quite reliable tasty. Breadstick with butter and warm bread with olive oil, viscous balsamic the best. Servers generally good service although impunctual at times. -------- Loved oven roasted veggies. Pasta very nice. Branzino ok. Dessert superb especially lemon merengue. Venue, much better job than MJ Steakhouse. Servers adorned in white uniform traditional. Rolling new tablecloth for dessert extra effort.
My girlfriend was visiting New York recently, and since I'm local, I wanted to take her back to one of our favorite places, Cipriani Dolci at Grand Central Terminal. We had such wonderful memories there, so we were truly looking forward to reliving that moment over lunch. The host and store manager greeted us warmly, and at first, everything felt just as special as before. But as soon as we were seated and met our server, something shifted. The attitude and energy made us feel unwelcome, and honestly, even now as I write this, I still feel disappointed. We considered asking for a different server, but my girlfriend didn't want to continue lunch in an uncomfortable atmosphere, so we quietly decided to finish our meal and leave early. It hurt because this restaurant had been her favorite place in New York, a spot full of beautiful memories. Everything about her trip had been perfect until that day, and it broke my heart to see such a meaningful place turn into a disappointing experience. Thankfully, the manager came to check on us, asking if everything was alright. I truly appreciated his kindness and shared honestly how much this place once meant to us and how disheartened we were. He listened patiently, then personally took care of our table, he even cleared the plates himself and offered us dessert on the house. I was deeply grateful, not for the dessert itself, but for his sincerity and professionalism, which reminded me of what this restaurant stands for. What could have been a ruined afternoon turned into a moment of quiet gratitude because of that manager's genuine care. I wish I had asked for his name. If you ever visit this place and meet a true gentleman who embodies the grace and warmth of New York and Grand Central Terminal, it's probably him. As we left, I made sure to leave a 30% tip, not out of obligation, but as a gesture of appreciation for the dignity, service, and class that the manager and this restaurant represent. Cipriani Dolci remains a place of elegance and history, and I truly hope every guest continues to feel that same sense of care and refinement we once did. To the server from that afternoon, I don't know what might have been going on that day, but please remember: this place and this city are filled with people whose visits here become lasting memories. Your words, expressions, and attitude shape those moments. I hope you can take pride in representing such a special place, because every guest you meet might be carrying a story just like ours.
I chose this location to celebrate my 30th birthday by myself, and it did not disappoint! From the moment I arrived, the hostess was so sweet and made sure to save me a wonderful table. The servers were equally kind and attentive. The food was absolutely amazing, and as a special touch, they brought me a celebration dessert and even sang 'Happy Birthday' to me. I wasn’t expecting that at all, and it truly made my day so special 🥹. I’ll definitely be back soon! Thank you for making me feel so cherished on my birthday! ❤️
Excellent restaurant with great food and service. In the heart of the bussling grand central station located on the second floor overlooking the main terminal, Ciporani stands alone with their unique dining experience. Service and food is excellent. Tried their butternut squash ravioli and baby artichoke hearts and everything was delicious and made fresh with quality ingredients. Very comfortable tables and seating with a unique view of this beautiful terminal and a nice large bar with seating. We loved the entire experience from the food to the service. Keep up the great work.
Dine in the historic setting of Grand Central Terminal Station at Cipriani Dolci on its balcony overlooking the activities during rush hour. We experienced impeccable service with our delicious meal. Selections included: Espresso Martinis-so yummy; Mixed Salad to share; with asparagus, tender & crisp, beets, Fruit with Shaved cheese-most excellent; Homemade Tagliatelle with Veal Ragu, made so delicately & cooked perfectly. The sauce was absolutely perfectly blended in flavor. Tortelli in a delicate panna sauce with Parma. The entrees we generous so that we had no room for dessert, unfortunately. Next visit we'll order appetizers and desserts. Make reservations, bring an appetite. Note: Grand Central Station, built in early 1900's was to have been demolished in the 1970's when Penn Station was built. Efforts initiated by former First Lady, Jackie Kennedy Onassis, launched a campaign to save this grand Beaux-Arts design Historic Site from destruction. It is the world's largest terminal housing 44 platforms, 67 tracks in 49 acres.
Good location to overview the station. Without reservation and still manage to get a table, it’s not taking too long though. The service is good. I like the way they serve foods. Instead of rushing everything at once, they will wait until I finished my dish before serve another. Skipped carbohydrate and goes with salmon. It’s really delicious, not over cooked but with right amount of raw. The Brussels sprouts delicious too! Tried the cocktail. Definitely will go again!
Located on the upper floor of the station, it's a casual spot (a bit more formal than the food court in the basement) with a good selection of dishes to choose from. It's a great spot to take a break and overlook the main concourse, with delightful banter from the staff. The food, of course, was delicious. Overall it's pricey, but worth a visit if you have time. Oh the breadsticks were excellent too.
A fine example of consistency year after year. The food always tastes the same and it always tastes very good (not great or excellent, but very good). Service is always friendly and attentive. Wine by the glass is way overpriced but so is everything in GC.
I had a dinner at Cipriani located in the iconic Grand Central, New York. The ambiance is beautiful, and the view is simply amazing, making it a visually delightful experience. The service was excellent, with attentive and friendly staff ensuring a pleasant visit. However, the food was quite average, especially considering the high prices. Also, paying $20 for a glass of wine felt excessive! While the setting and service were impressive, the value for money in terms of the food and drinks is frankly a rip-off. It's time someone said stop to these outrageous prices!
In grand central. Venue is dramatic. Friendly service and good food.
Forgot to take pictures of the menu. The food was amazing! Can’t put into words how unique and delicious everything tasted, from the appetizers to the desserts. I highly recommed the Argentinian Prawns "Al Curry" with Spiced Rice Pilaf and the Homemade "Millefoglie" with Pastry Cream. Employees were very nice, they never left us unattended. The juices could be served in a much bigger glass. The location itself is noisy but you can still have a great conversation. I would come back a thousand times!
4.5 Great location right upstairs in the main concourse of Grand Central on the West Balcony. Learning this restaurant also owns the famous Harry's Bar in Venice and Rome which both my partner and I have been to, we made a point to eat here after our museum walking tour in NoHo and getting on the train. The seating that looks directly over the concourse is all tables for two. Our party of three was placed at the next row behind those which still gave a good view of the terminal and it's majestic ceiling. We ordered two cocktails, a Sweet Maggie and The Bellini plus a glass of ice tea. A basket of the long thin breadsticks you find in Italy and some ciabatta was brought out to have with our drinks. It took us awhile to study the menu made up of Venetian cuisine, but our wait staff was patient and friendly. I was having the most trouble deciding as after inquiring about how a few mains were made, there would be some component I didn't care for. Deciding finally on their Special of the Day, organic salmon with leek sauce and a serving of rice pilaf, it turned out to be a fine choice. The salmon had a nice golden crust and rested in a thick bed of leek purée. A cluster of fried leeks on one half of the portion made an attractive garnish. I had a glass of Castello di Volpaia Chianti Classico with my dish. My partner ordered the grilled Mediterranean branzino that comes with broccoli rabe and a glass of Villa Sparina Gavi. He wished it came with a different vegetable but even after I asked if there was a substitute and we were given a list of perfect alternatives, he wouldn't switch. The presentation of the fish was lovely. (see my photos) Our family member chose the spaghetti with sea bass and cherry tomatoes. A big serving, he took some home. Cipriani Dolci thoughtfully gives patrons a plate of complimentary butter cookies after their meal which we enjoyed for their simplicity and flavor.
Service and food were good. Got the Omelette of the Day and the Mixed Cheese Selection to eat. Wanted more in the way of visuals. Like a garnish or something on the omelette and maybe a better presentation for the cheese board. The prosciutto tower that another guest ordered was beautifully presented and made me wish I had ordered that instead. Cheeses and grapes were great and the omelette was delish though. Drinks were good and came up quick. Recommend the Bellini.
The atmosphere is definetly amazing with restaurant overlooking the Central Station and being part of this vibe. The Mozzarella was truly good - very fresh and very big and really even for me, buffalo lovers, great. Red shrimps were good but lacking really imagination in serving. The service though was dissapointing and barely there, Booking table in advance worked great, welcoming was polite but from there it was bare minimum.
It’s a beautiful space but god help you if you want to get a drink at the bar and the servers are itching to go home. We were met by frank and generally unpleasant bar staff who clearly aren’t getting paid enough to be hospitable. I will say the bartender originally from Staten Island does make a good dirty martini and has a heavy wine pour.
Beautiful place to grab a drink. Great views of the main concourse. Service was horribly slow. We decided not to eat because it took over 20min to get a menu after we sat and order drinks.
The atmosphere is really fun, especially if you sit near the edge so that you can look over the hustle and bustle of Grand Central. The area is tight, so wheelchair users should make a reservation in advance and ask for the table on the ground level in the corner because it's the easiest table to get to. Accessible bathrooms are not available and I need to leave the restaurant and go around Grand Central to find a bathroom to use. The food was okay, but nothing amazing. The real appeal here is the environment.
The waiter got my order wrong , I asked twice for the fresh juice I ordered that came after everyone finished eating, was very disappointed in service , the two ladies I was having brunch with called for the manager so we can relay our experience with our waiter Rashan , very unprofessional, we asked for a different waiter during the meal because we really didn't want to leave the tip for Rashan...very rude an bad service , your employees reflect your businesses so please hire or train to be professionals.
This restaurant is gorgeous but such a shame about the service. Our server Wilson was very distracted all night. We had to look around for our server very often - when he did serve us he struggled to understand our English a lot. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was fabulous. If you can get a seat overlooking the Concourse it's just breathtaking. For the price of the meal the service really lacked. What a shame.
Cipriani Dolci New York was a recommendation by my friend. She likes the restaurant a lot. To be honest, the location is nice and the vibes of the restaurant was good. The staff were lovely and very welcoming with big smiles. We sad in a nice table and the arrangement was nice. But, I didn’t like the food that much, I had the ravioli, mushroom risotto 🍝 and a salad 🥗. Maybe I would come again for coffee or something small.
I have no idea if it was an unusual day or just our server. But we had ‘the worst’ service we have had in New York ever!!! we kept having to ask or to look for the waiter…ask for the waiter to order, ask for our food, ask for a drink… for bread. It was the first time that we have tipped less than 22% in at least a year. Maybe he didn’t like the way we looked!?! Have no idea- but we will never go back there again. We go to Venice yearly so maybe we will, try out the original Cipriani:-)
Throughout the years I came here a few times and it got worse every time. This could be one if those jewels... Prime location overlooking Grand Central Terminal. Unfortunately let down dramatically with uninterested service and mediocre food. A glass if very average Chardonnay sets you back 16 dollars (ex tax and service charge). The second star is fir the location... Everything else needs to get to a higher standard fast again.
Meh. The white wines left a lot to be desired: Cipriani's own brand of Chardonnay tasted like cheap Chablis and at $22 a glass was ridiculously expensive for the quality; the other whites' tasting notes online were all too tart for my palate. The endive salad $26 was too lemony for the tart leaves--again with the tart--(the avocado did not balance the citrus as well as I'd hoped), and the veal $33 smothered in tonnato sauce was bland and dated (think early 1900s); no telling what mystery meat was under there. It was tender, sure, but it could have been lunch meat for all the flavor I did not taste. The cappuccino was okay, nothing to rave over as the underlying coffee wasn't smooth or aromatic. The tab for one small wine and two appetizers was $97 (one person). THE SERVICE WAS GOOD, BUT. Faisl was a friendly and efficient waiter; however, his coworkers eyed my empty plates and fork/knife at "ready to pick up" position and ignored them, as I read my ebook on a tablet way off to the right of my postage-stamp-sized table. It would have been nice if they'd just grabbed my plate as they walked by since they were not busy. At all. THE BAR was busy, though, and I note their menu is a little more afternoon-friendly (fries, sandwiches, tuna tartare). I would recommend a Bull Shot (Grey Goose vodka and beef consummé), one of my favorites--if you like vodka and you like steak, you will like this--$17, which is a reasonable price for a real cocktail. If forced to stop by again, by the circumstance of waiting for a Metro North train while hungry, I would get a bite at the bar. As a local, I have to say that a lot of 4- and 5-star reviews of "delicious" food may be from tourists who don't have many options where they live, and are caught up in the romance of being in NYC. Read the lower reviews first. That said, I see pics online of things like a pappardelle ragu, which makes me think I just did a bad job of ordering this time. But a storied name like Cipriani should have amazing EVERYTHING, if you ask me. And you did! 😊
I visited Cipriani Dolci with some friends visiting from Belgium, and what a disappointment with the food (some dished were so bad that my friends left half of them). The location is great and (I thought) Cipriani was a culinary institution in NY, so they really need to get their act together with the food
Go here for the ambiance but not worth it for the food. Brunch was below average including the coffee. This is clearly an establishment relying on the vibes to pay rent instead of the food. Chicken club sandwich looked something out of a corner deli (tho I’ve had better at delis) and the mixed fruit pancakes were dry and lackluster.
I sometime go here after work to grab a drink. It's GC so I'm not expecting it to be cheap but all I order is a rum and coke. The bill is $25. A rum and coke is $19 and they went ahead and added $3.80 tip before tax. And then they give you the bill with space to add tip (again). So they try to get you 2x Wild So go to the bar literally around the corner within GC for anything that's not a beer.
Hands down top five worst places I’ve received a cocktail. Ordered a mezcal margarita and I was given an odd mix of triple sec, lime juice and simple syrup with barely any mezcal. On top of that not only was the Charlie the bartender impersonal - he used no jigger for consistency, he made cocktails with his back towards guests and kept shoving his hands in his pants to tuck his shirt and adjust his pants - cause we have no belt? Oh did I forget he was absolutely sloppy and violated so many levels of health code violations? I just wanted a quick and simple drink on my way home after a long day at work and it was far from it. Side note - I wasn’t aware the manager or maitre’d can get drinks in a coffee cup while on the clock? I was better off getting a white claw downstairs and sweeting my balls off on the platform waiting for my train.
Sorry to say this was one of the worst food experiences I’ve ever had. We got steak tartare and an avocado salad. Both had a slimy dullness that made me feel they were scooped out of a can like cat food. Servers were pleasant but incredibly slow and seemed confused by basic requests. The location is great, but at that price point those dishes should be perfect.
The food was disgusting and extremely overpriced. The servers would sell you anything, they obviously didn't care. Paid $180 for 3 people's lunch, and we couldn't even finish all the food it was so bad.
My husband and I came here for drinks, so we grabbed a seat at the bar. My husband ordered a glass of wine, and I ordered a premade cocktail off their menu. We were relaxing and sipping our drinks, I was only a few sips in when I looked down and I noticed a small bug floating in my drink. I tried to get, Serkan, the bartender’s attention 2 times, but he was more concerned with entertaining another female patron a few seats down from us. When I finally got his attention, I told him there was a bug in my drink. He quickly grabbed the glass, stared at it for a good 10 seconds, looked at it with an unbelieving expression, and said “hm, let me make you another” and quickly/aggressively dumped it out. At this point I didn’t want another drink because seeing the bug turned my stomach, so I kindly told him it was okay and no thank you to another drink. He proceeded to shoot me the dirtiest look, scoffed, and walked away. No apology, nothing. Then he immediately went over to his coworker and started loudly complaining about the situation. Saying “she SAID she found a bug in her drink” as if I was lying and he didn’t lay his own eyes on it. I would have absolutely nothing to gain from making this up, especially since I had only taken maybe 3 sips from the drink. I don’t go to places expecting anything for free. There were no apologies, he kept looking over at us and shooting us dirty looks, and my husband and I were so uncomfortable. Eventually his coworker approached us and was kind enough to offer me a water, and I politely declined. I told him that we just wanted the check. We were hoping to sit and relax from the cold, enjoy a few drinks, and take in grand central station. But the bartender had such a nasty, unpleasant, adverse reaction, that I just wanted to pay for my husband’s drink, and leave. Never again. I think Serkan might need some retraining on how he speaks to customers and handles this types of situations.
Over priced for mid pasta, unseasoned tartare and under par service. 20$ for a glass of wine that was knocked during service and not topped off. Pasta had bacon they try to pass off as pancetta, the bolognese pasta was overcooked and tasted bland. Everything is very bland, the setting is nice but in a beautiful day, you don’t get to enjoy the nice weather and the noise of central station is not pleasant in itself.
